I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

- first: my maternal language isn't English so, I'll do my best to clarify myself -

I had a NEW trojan horse a couple of weeks ago on my pc, he said he was a virus scanner and he infected a lot. Since then on, internet explorer doesn't work any more, with 'doesn't work' I mean: I can open it, it works but he says he had no connection to the internet. But when I open Firefox, it works fine. Because he says he has no connection, my sidebar, msn messenger and itunes store can't connect to the internet.

I really hope somebody has an answer to my problem.

Thanks in advance (:

The title pretty much says it all. I'm honestly at the end of my rope. Device manager replies all is well, yet sound stopped working overnight.

It isn't muted,I'm not that oblivious.

I own Advanced System Care Pro ( and consequently, Driver Booster ) so I have already all of my drivers up to date, as well as any other problems I might have had.

Used a bunch of other scanners to figure out the problem to no avail. Plugging some headphones in also doesn't cut it, so it made me think that perhaps the hardware was actually fine and some software conflict was the cause of the problem. I have no freaking clue anymore, should I just get mad and yell at my computer for an hour or so to relieve stress now??

A:Laptop audio refuses to work, all devices work properly, sound isn't muted. Help?

First we need to know the EXACT make and model number of the laptop in question. Secondly the only place you should be looking for drivers for you laptop is the laptop manufacturers support website. Driver scanners really are not helpful.

I've tried everything in the book, and i mean EVERYTHING so I'm going to post all the audio info you should need and see if there are any problems here: and heres my whole device manage if you guys have any info about fixing this I could really appreciate it, my last resort which I'm probably going to do is backup all my important info with a flash drive and reinstall windows, let me know if you need any other info. Really appreciate it Thanks!
PS - Before this all occurred there used to be like 8 devices in the sound part of device manage now there's only about 2 or 3.

A:Audio doesnt work after deleted some registry files

What type of audio isn't working?

There two audio chipsets present. The Realtek HD audio chipset, which is the standard audio chipset, and the nVidia HD audio chispet, which is only used for audio output over HDMI.

Delete all of the entries from Device Manager. Uninstall any Realtek entries in Add and Remove programs, then reboot and manually install the latest Realtek drivers for your system.

The nVidia drivers are part of the video driver install. But again, those are for HDMI output only.

Friend's computer started up with a Critical Warning image and telling him to download this antispyware thing in order to remove it. Some files that I found connected with this are: FNTCACHE, critical_warning.html, AVR09, winhelper.dll, and 41. I tried running DDS but to no success. Same with Rootkit Repealer. I managed to install and run Hitman Pro 3.5 and Malwares Bytes Antimalware, but both were stopped after a few seconds within scanning. Afterwards, they didn't work at all. Couldn't install Superantispyware or CCleaner. Spybot Search and Destroy was changed to read only and Ad-Aware wouldn't work. Any suggestions? Is there any program out there that manages to get rid of this?

A:Scanners won't work, DDS won't work, and all programs that involve removing files becomes blocked after being used once

My problem is as follows: when launching some .exe files, either by double-clicking in Explorer or by having another program launch them, they show up in the Processes tab in Task Manager, take up some memory, some threads and some handles, and then stay
at 0% CPU and nothing else happens. Launching the file again only adds a new process, equally "dead".
The weird thing is that some files work fine: Chrome, Steam client and at least one Steam game, regedit.exe, msconfig.exe, Adobe reader, VLC media player, one compiled AutoHotKey script...
The ones that conspicuously don't work are OpenOffice (all its .exes), many Steam games, installers for new programs (such as OOo),
other compiled AutoHotKey scripts, Pure Data.
None of these problems seem to appear in Safe Mode.
So lots of stuff still works, but I'd love to fix this and be able to work on text documents and spreadsheets again...
What I've tried so far:

updated Windows to all it asked forsfc /scannow returns no problem at all (just ran it again now)chkdsk /r /f, everything is finetried a system restore, which failed even in Safe Mode, with the message about antivirus software preventing it from doing its jobuninstalled AVG, which was only possible in Safe Mode, am now running the free trial of Malwarebytes, which says everything is fine after a scanfollowed the instructions to correct .exe file association in the registry found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2688326

hey, im aware that this problem is pretty frequent after browsing forums a couple of times but never actually found a solution to the problem.

ok, so, few months ago, my computor was pretty messed up, swamped with viruses etc

so ive cleaned my pc up, roughly got everything back on track

apart from audio

k so audio works fine with any media players installed on my pc, wmp, winamp, vlc, nero, real, etc. fine, movies and music, even online radio1 works

the problem is that, where you control the windows audio in the little minimized icon which is found on the bottom right taskbar, that has dissappeared, which probably has something to do with it, but also, when i have numerously attempted to play audio videos on youtube or myspace, or music on myspace/profiles, that kind of thing

i get no sound at all, video generally plays fine just no sound whatsoever

im curious as to how it happened in the first place, but also would ideally like to find a solution for it as it is quite annoying

any advice would be greatly appreciated

A:windows sound icon gone, no youtube/myspace audio, media files work fine though

I'm having difficulty figuring out this persistent malware. I think it's likely that there are multiple issues.

I'm running Windows Vista.

The malware started off with "google redirect" symptoms, and disabling my Symantec software

Shortly following, I could no longer access the web. However, the malware itself would create an internet explorer popup every 5-10 minutes (not my default browser) that would go to "search sites" (none that I recognized....) and search for lewd topics. Running the taskmanager would show multiple instances of iexplore.exe running on my machine (one for each popup). The popups would have to be eliminated one by one using the task manager.

Trying to run a system restore, I discovered all restore points had been deleted.

I installed AVG antivirus and got it to run once which seemed to help the problem. However, upon restart, all issues were back and I could no longer run avg. Windows defender constantly pops up that a new trojan is attacking my machine.

At this point, I unplugged my internet connection and started using another machine. I had left my problematic computer alone for about a month.

Upon turning it on last night, each time I logged on, it gave me a warning that "Windows had encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute" and would restart. I tried running cmd (in that one minute) to intercept it, but the task manager would freeze if I tried to run it from there and explorer wo... Read more

I have searched HELP in the firewall but I'm not any nearer to finding out how to configure it. Could anyone assist in this matter? Thanks in advance

You should just get a message when they try to access internet and you agree "don't block" is all.

What on EARTH process is always running in the background to make my hard drive chatter away for literally nearly 3-5 minutes after a bootup...and we're talking with a FRESH install!....Some something is running a LOT in the background but task manager is absolutely worthless in pointing out what is going on...It even gets to the point where , after having the Edge browser opened and perusing the internet for awhile, things get so bogged down, and windows is too stupid to tell me exactly WHY it's bogged down, things get to where even a mouse click is delayed upwards of 10 seconds! lol. Sometimes things completely freeze and pushing the reset button is the only way out...I've gone as far as downloading Avasts 'emergency startup' disc and booting from it , thinking there might be a virus, but it found nothing (although I'm wondering if it's loading a small portion of windows, which if it is, and a virus or malware is in that small portion, booting to the disc and running the anti-virus software is pointless...maybe I should try it with a linux based emergency disc?) ....

Alright here's my situation:

I have a Core2Duo PC running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, hooked up to my TV using a HDMI cable. This has been working fine for 2 years now. Yesterday I decided to add some more RAM to this PC (4 GB instead of the standard 2 GB to be exact). I know 32 bit will only read 3 GB but I was thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit later.

Anyway I booted up the computer, worked fine of course, even watched a movie or two without problems. Then this morning I booted up the PC and I suddenly noticed the volume icon saying that there were no audio devices detected! I checked under Hardware and there are no audio devices whatsoever! So my HDMI cable is still giving me picture but no sound! Seeing as I'm using onboard audio I immediately booted into the BIOS and although I couldn't find a specific option that said onboard audio I did see something audio related being "HDA" (I assume HD audio) on automatic, the other option was ACRealtek97 or something. However it was enabled so no luck there.

Does anyone know how all of a sudden my HDMI cable isn't providing audio anymore? I even checked my Nvidia card which also stated that HDMI audio was enabled.

I hope anyone can help me, thanks in advance.

My first guess would be that you have 4 tool bars running.

Most toolbars try to cache links on the page "In Case" you may want to see them and they will load faster.
I think that you may be having a conflict with them all trying to do the same thing at one time.

I would pick the one that you like and turn the rest off.

I've gone to the startup on my msconfig and disabled the Logitech programs and it made no difference. I've ran Spy Sweeper and AdAware. I've dumped my temp files, cookies and history, and defragmented. I've done everything I can think of.

I downloaded HJT 1.99 and ran it and here's the log, if someone would be so kind as to have a look and see if there's something amiss. Thank you much.

Hello, everyone, and thank you for any assistance you can provide with this issue. I searched for an answer using Google and the TG search function, but the issue is inherently difficult to search for, as it brings up a lot of off-topic results. If this has been asked and answered, a link to the answer would be appreciated, thanks again.

When working on my computer, I practice a sort of extreme mult-tasking - that is, I usually have numerous Office & PDF programs open and more specifically 3-4 IE browser windows at any given time.

I frequently click to a new page, or action, on one page, then switch back to Word, or to another window in the meantime while that page downloads, even if this only takes a second or two - that's a couple of seconds I could be doing something else.

IE does not seem to cooperate in this regard, however, in that I will often find myself unwillingly dragged back to a browser window, when the page has finished downloading, when there is activity there, PW request, etc. Is there any way to prevent IE from switching windows on me against my will, so that I will only be on the browser window I choose and never be dragged back to an old window, regardless of what is going on there?

I am using IE7; however, the same thing happened with my earlier IE6.

I have cable Internet, but I am also using a old and slow computer - will an upgrade solve this?

If so, given my penchant for mult-tasking, is a dual core processor the way to go?

A:Internet Exlorer windows bouncing back and forth

Welcome, LAEsquire.

I think the word you're looking for is "focus." You click on a certain window to get the focus there. Then some other application or window wants your input or wants you to see a message and it grabs the focus (and you find yourself typing into thin air!).

I know of no way to change this operation. Maybe there is a registry tweak.

Since this is a general Windows feature I suggest that you click on the red triangle and ask a moderator to move this thread to the Windows XP forum, where you are more likely to find an expert who knows about this.

Guys I'v been searching and reading and pulling my hair out for 3days!!

I have installed many drivers from many sources but to no avail.

A:H.D. Audio not work??

1) You already did clean install. Nothing more to be concerned with.

2) try Windows Update. If nothing, right click it in device manager, properties, details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste the results to a post here.

I've installed my audio drivers, and everything works fine for awhile after I re-boot, but then I see the following error.. Then My sound goes out and when I click my volume control I get this..But I was able to adjust my volume for a few minutes after re-booting.. Then it acts like it's not installed, but in device manager it's there and no problems.. Any Ideas?..PS.. I've tried un-installing and re-installing the drivers, and even running CCleaner, with no luck..

Heres my situation:

I bought a cable to hook my Xbox up to my monitor and it has the red/white RCA male plugs coming off of it. I know you can buy adapters such as this to convert your audio to stereo. Now that I have that sorted out, I wanted to also hook my PC audio up at the same time with a simple Male to Male stereo extension cable like the next picture.

Im wondering if I buy a female to double female stereo adapter if it will work with my speakers, the cord looks like this:
So basically, the desktop speakers input will be plugged into the bottom of the Y cable, and the Xbox audio and computer audio will be hooked up to each of the jacks on the "tips" of the Y cable.

Will the audio work?

A:Will my audio work??

Please do post a diagram of the final solution. Just draw a box which says Comp and a box that says XBOX and a box that says TV and then sketch the cables between them as they will go...

You may have uninstalled your sound drivers,Without them your card wont work.
Try the manufacturers website for the drivers...they should be downloadable and then just instal and restart your pc.
Try that and let me know.

I am dual-booting Windows XP and Ubuntu8.0. I installed Windows XP approximately four or five days ago, and have been trying to get everything set up since. I am having trouble getting the audio to work, though. My audio is integrated with my motherboard (which is an ATI Xpress 3200 RD580). I am looking for chipset drivers for this, but cannot find them. In the device manager, my audio device shows up with an exclamation mark next to it under 'other devices'.

How do I make this work? I know the hardware is installed correctly, because sound is working in Ubuntu.

Ok so a few days ago when I logged onto my labtop it let me put in my password and loaded but then went to a black screen with the mouse arrow showing up. It never loaded anything else I tried restarting it,taking the battery out didn't fix it so I rebooted my labtop fixing it.

Problem now is that my audio won't work and has a red x over the speaker logo and a message saying "Windows Audio has stopped working" keeps popping up and gives me option of checking online for a solution but it doesn't fix anything.

I've tried updated the drivers, uninstalled them and re installed them but still nothing.
Any ideas?

A:Audio won't work.

From the start menu type in services.msc. Look for the windows audio service. Make sure that it is on and set to turn on automatically. If it isn't on you can start it.

Also I suggest that you update to service pack 2.
