Photoshop 7 Error -- Save For Web Preview not working

Q: Photoshop 7 Error -- Save For Web Preview not working

Okay, I don't know how this happened. One second it's working fine, the next, I get this error. I go to preview my image in the browser, so I click "Save for Web." The "Save for Web" screen comes up, along with all the options for things that I can adjust. Then I go to click the Internet Explorer "e" button to get the actual preview, and I get this error message that says: "The operation could not be completed because a file by that name already exists."

I have no idea what that has to do with me previewing a file. I've always been able to preview images in the browser, but now it's giving me this error. I tried re-installing PS7, but it doesn't change the problem. I've also refreshed my PS7 prefs file. I honestly have no idea why this is happening, as I said it was working just fine one second, then the next, this happened. If anyone has ever experienced this problem, or knows how to correct it, please let me know!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey all, thanks ahead of time for taking a look!

I've had this problem with Adobe Photoshop Extended (CS4 Version 11.0) and Microsoft Paint for about a month now. Anytime I try to "save" or "save as" with either of these programs, Vista produces the "[Photoshop or Paint] has stopped working - Windows is checking for a solution" error. It then, after maybe 15 seconds or so, says "[Photoshop or Paint] has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

This happens when I try to save ANYTHING on either of these programs, but it is restricted to only these two programs. Everything else, including all Microsoft Office software and even irfanview, which is another image editing software, work flawlessly. I do not believe that I downloaded any software prior to this problem. I've searched all over the internet for a solution but I can only find people having trouble saving as JPGs, but I cannot save at all with these programs, normally I can find someone who has solved the same problem and I follow their steps but this has absolutely stumped me. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!

I know that some of these have no correlation to the actual issue, but I figured it's worth a shot. Here's all that I've tried to fix it -
-Reinstalled Photoshop

PS was operating fine, and then one day:

When saving a file, if I have filename.jpg open and I want to save a version in a new location, so I File>Save As>filename.jpg not overwriting the existing file I get an error:
"Could not save as C:\...\filename.jpg because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again."

It gets stranger:
Even if I change the filename AND save to a different location I get the same error.
The only way around it is to save as a .psd. Then I don't get the error.

Any ideas?

I create Photoshop images on A4 paper.
The created image looks perfectly placed in the program, but when I go to print, the full A4 size is not displayed in the preview pane, the bottom is missing. ( the actual bottom of the preview pane, not just the image.)

If I print this image after unticking the 'centre image' option, the image is placed at the very top of the sheet of A4 paper ignoring the top margin. (I can still see the margin in the print preview)

If I print this image without unticking the 'centre image' option, I get a VERY small image in the top left hand corner of my sheet of A4.

The only way I can print the image correctly is to untick the 'centre image' option, & drag the image down in the preview pane, guessing at what height on the paper it will be printed.

I am using Windows Vista sp1 64 bit, & a HP Laserjet 1022nw printer.
All my drivers/ windows/ Photoshop are up to date with all patches & updates.

Has anyone any idea why this is happening & how to fix it?

Thanks for any replies

Hey all,

Ive gone to print a bunch of photos, usually print preview pops up, i select the style I want to print out, 1 pic per page, 4 pics per page or wallet size etc etc.

But its completely gone!
My pc is HP Touchsmart 610a, i5, windows 7 ulitmate, about 3yrs old now

Have never had this issue before. I uninstalled my old printer about 3 weeks ago, was a HP photosmart.
And now have a Canon Pixmar MG6460 since then. I have printed plenty on it, but not many photos, but last time, print preview was working like normal

I have a Acer i7 notebook on W8.1, the same Canon printer is set up on the notebook over a shared network & print preview works normal just as it should.

I did a system check via SFC.exe, system file checker tool, my pc came up fine, no issues at all.
I managed to find & make sure that the box for 'show print preview' was checked, but after checking the box, preview still is a no go

anyother issue im having is with windows help... i click the Question mark & get this error, every single time....

I found a fix for it via a microsoft, but that supposed fix did nothing.

any have idea ideas or dealt with either of these issues?

A:Can't save for web as .gif in photoshop cs6 :(

Generally these days, GIF format has been largely superseded by the newer PNG, unless you're using animations.
For static images, it's better to use PNG for web, as it normally can provide better compression and transparency. Keep GIFs only for multiframes small animations.

My question is whether or not reinstalling Windows ME will solve my pictures problem, and will such a download of Windows ME include the Kodak program, Paint, and Image Preview associated with Windows ME???
BACKGROUND -- I recently did a few things that brought about a problem. I used Ultra WinCleaner 2002 which deleted many Registry entries, etc., and messed up McAfee Security which had to be reinstalled. I downloaded a PSP program but didn't complete the installation (the program was an upgrade to PSP 7.0, but I didn't have a PSP Program). After these two operations, I found that when I tried with pictures to SAVE AS .bmp the saved file was in an unknown format... thumnails and ImagePreview did not work. File Properties said the files were JPG , but the format was unknown to ImagePreview. Thinking the Kodak program that comes with Windows ME was messed up, I downloaded an Image Viewer called IrfanView and set extensions for all images to use IrfanView. IrfanView worked well , but the SAVE AS problem still existed. I cleared all the extentions from IrfanView and deleted IrfanView. Now the problem is worse and none of my pictures will open in ImagePreview at all, and I virtually can not save any pictures. Is reinstalling Windows ME a good solution and will it not delete documents, pictures, and applications?

I am unable to use my mouse in Microsoft Word and Outlook 2003. I cannot click, highlight, or use the left mouse control. I am able to save and use the tool bar.

I cannot open any documents by double clicking on them, I have to open Microsoft word then click on the file/open.

Sometimes when opening word I get the Auto-recover/save page Asking if I would like to save the "PDFMCustom.asd" (never used)

Steps I have already taken to fix the error:
- I reset user options and registry settings in Word - deleted the data registry key

- Removed and reinstalled Microsoft 2003.

If I go to the task manager and end the process WINWORD.EXE, I can then delete the temporary files the "AutoRecovery save of PDFMCustom.asd" from Application Data\Microsoft\Word. Then I run http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822005 which allows me to use Word and Outlook correctly for a short time.

Adobe creative suite 2 with photoshop and illustrator just arrived yesterday but I have had the most annoying problem - when trying to save or open a file, if I press on the buttons to the left (see picture) which are the locations of where the file would be - my computer, my documents etc. the program freezes with a "not responding" message. clicking on the + or - folder things to the right sometimes works, but other times it also freezes it giving the not responding message. I have to close the program using CTRL+ALT+DEL. I am not sure what to do since I dont want to start working on something knowing that it may freeze and I lose everything.

Hello. I'm using Windows 7 Home Pro. 64-bit, and Firefox browser. When I want to save an image from the Internet, and right click on an image, it opens up what looks just like Windows Explorer. The problem is, the 'preview pane' button is missing, and I can therefore not get a large preview when using the details view, which I must use, because I have folders with many files to look through quickly. The images do show up properly in icons view. If I open up Windows Explorer by itself, it works properly, and I get the preview pane button.

I saw a similar thread, and it recommended making sure Windows Photo Viewer, is set as the default program. I set it to be the default, but it didn't help.

On my older Windows XP computer, I had xplorer2lite open up when right-clicking on an image. That was a more convenient program for me to use. Is it possible to do that in Windows 7?

Also, is to possible to get the panes in Windows Explorer to 'hold' their position.

Thank you.

Hello all...

I see there's an option "Preview Desktop" checked on the bottom right little bar on my taskbar, and I read somewhere that if you hover your mouse over that bar, you can "preview" the desktop without actually showing it (minimizing all windows). This doesn't work on my Windows 7 Installation. Is it another locked featured? Has anyone seen it working? Does it have anything to do with aero peek? what is aero peek by the way? is it the thumbnail preview when we hover over the open programs on the taskbar?

Thank you all.

A:PDF not working in Preview Pane

Hello badboi and welcome to the Forum. Does your computer have a separate PDF reader installed? It's my understanding that Windows 7 does not natively support pdf files. A few free sources:

Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions (fairly bloated)

Foxit Software - Foxit Reader for Windows (tries to install toolbars, etc read install instructions carefully)

Nitro PDF Reader (my free reader of choice)

There are other free readers available so I'd suggest installing one, see if your preview issues are solved, then play around with a few until you find your reader of choice.

I am having a problem with the preview function not working correctly. I happened to have Outlook open along with two IE8 sessions. One session was running a Fancast video and the other session was open to Amazon. While I was in Outlook, I moved the mouse over to the IE icon in the quick launch area and the two IE windows showed their respective previews. Each time I tried to make the Fancast window become active, it would not stay up. I then tested this out with Outlook being open and then trying to switch to the sevenforums.com page. I was able to get this to work without any problems.

Hi. I was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to get my picture thumbnails to show the actual picture versus the default lake. I have Windows Vista Home Basic.

At first, it was just some of the pictures in the folder that were defaulting. It did not appear to be a specific type; however, when I put them in order by date, it did appear that it actually started happening after a particular date. I could never figure out what may have caused it though and system restore didn't fix it.

The weird thing is they tend to flash up when I first open the folder but then go back to that default.

That said, some of the things I have read and tried to do to fix it:

1) I have Always show icons, never thumbnails unchecked

2) Used System Tools to delete and rebuild thumbnail cache (yes Windows Photo Gallery is set as the default).

I don't know, I thought I followed directions, but maybe I did #2 wrong because it actually made it worse and now NONE of the thumbnails show and they are all now the default icons. It said it would rebuild when I opened the folder....it doesn't.

Any other advice?

A:Photoshop CS4 isn't working

Are you able to view the pictures with Windows Photo Gallery. If so ,this would rule out any problem with the .jpg file.

The only other thing would be a botched install. You could try to uninstall then reinstall. To uninstall go to <control panel/programs/uninstall program/Adobe Photoshop CS4>. You simply click on the setup.exe file in the zip folder to reinstall.

If all else fails, here is an Adobe Photoshop forum: http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa

I guess I've been forced into it again, but the download's taking a while, so meanwhile, does anyone know how I can get the Installer to work?

A:Release Preview Installer Not Working

Welcome to EightForums Sir MrAustinFTW

With regards to ISO installation, EightForums can suggest you the following;
* Clean Install - Windows 8 (I suggest you this)
* Windows 8 To Go - Setup on a USB Flash Drive or USB Disk
* http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html

Most of us here Win8 RP is working but we need to take risk for drivers that are (later version) might not work as we expected. Even I, got some issues with my driver and to take considerations that will RUN only in Win7 OS. Platform of x32 or x64 is another one to give attention and might not work as well.

However, try the guide we suggest and let us know what is the out come of the installation.

I have read through about 4 hours worth of posts out there and tried everything that has been put my way, but nothing is working. About 1 week ago I installed a piece of software called Mystic Thumbs. This was meant to enhance my thumbnails in my system. Being that this was an eval version I looked through, decided it didn't give me enough to warrant $30 and uninstalled. Since then I can't see previews for my jpg files. Even in the preview pane nothing is showing.

Windows 7 Ultimate
2 Gb RAM

250 Gb HD with 9Gb page file. No out of memory/won't display your preview there.

I have used "Disk Cleanup" to clear the thumbs.db and I have manually deleted the thumbs.db from ../users/{profile name}/appdata/local/microsoft/windows/explorer/..

It just rebuilds the same sets as before and refuses to build the sets that it wouldn't display before.

Hey all,

I know this is a little bit of a shot in the dark as this is not a forum for Prepros, but I've always been impressed with how knowledgeable the people here are. And the forums at Prepros.io seem to be about worthless, could be weeks before a support request gets a reply.

I'm trying to set up the Prepros Live Preview to work. In general settings I have Custom Server ticked and "http://localhost" in the slot. I do not have Custom Port ticked as I wouldn't know what port it needs.

The single setup video I can find says that it should be http://localhost:9000 and a port of 8091, but when I do this is says that port is not reachable, so I got rid of them and it allows me to see the WAMP php page with my projects down at the bottom. But when I click that project it says that it's disconnected and that I should refresh the page and or restart the program, which I of course tried with no luck.

Thanks guys! I hope someone has experience with this program, but we will see.

A:Prepros Live Preview not working

Its not that simple as prepros uses or can use all sort of things like less and bootstrap. What you seem to be having problems with is a server. Any server running local can be accessed by using of the name localhost but it needs to know what port the port will be set on the server what ever it is. It can be any number not in use and you wont have any running normally. So you set the port on the server as it suggest 9000 then you can access it via http://localhost:9000 the :9000 is the port of the server

A simple way to get the idea is try mini web iWeb Server its very small same thing you set the port on the server then access it via IIS Windows Server 8080 or what ever port you set the server to it as a folder were you put the webpages it displays but being simple it gives you the idea and you can test standard html pages

Recently while I am working with Photoshop (CS4 64-bit) the window appears saying "Photoshop has stopped working". Once the program crashes I can't re-open it because the same "stopped working" windows appears on start-up. I haven't been using any other software but the same problem twice appeared with MS Word.
I bought computer 2 weeks ago so I don't want to re-install Windows after such short time.

This problem seems to appear after I installed Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. I tried to uninstall Wacom drivers and install older ones but it didn't seem to have effect or I didn't uninstall all Wacom drivers. I is hard to say coz Device manager often doesn't show all Wacom drivers installed.

Do you have any suggestions to this problem?

A:Photoshop CS4 stopped working

If this problem is happening with Word and now CS4 that's an indication with an impending problem with the system. If the system is still under warranty you might have the service department look it over.

By the way what version of Word are you using?

Also can you provide us some system specs?

So I finally get my new computer in, which is running on my new 64-bit Vista. I install my favorite program, Photoshop CS3, and decide to try it out a bit. It works just fine. Then I decide to install my tablet which comes included with all my photoshop plug-ins.

This is where everything gets awesome. As I'm starting back up Photoshop I get hit with this.

If you notice, it freezes right as the plug-ins are being put in. I found out that the life-ruining box invading my startup is called DEP. So I tried to disable it going through the command prompt. Everything happened the way it was supposed to happen. I got some sort of success message, and when I checked the DEP status it said that it was disabled. So I try to start up photoshop again. Still, it pops up. I restart my computer after disabling it again. Still, it pops up. If I'm about to hear that I can't use Photoshop with plug-ins because of this 64-bit crap, I'll send my computer back right now.

Is there anything I can possibly do to get this to work?

Hello CouldBeJesus,

Welcome to the forums.

You can disable DEP for a particular program by going to the start menu/control panel (classic view). Click on 'advanced system settings'. Under 'Performance' click settings. 'Data Execution Prevention' tab. There is a warning in the help files that this 'could' allow a virus to enter the computer through the program. It also suggests looking for an update to your program before disabling. Hope it works.

I have a Pentium 4 3Ghz with 1 MB ram running XP SP2.

I had loaded Adobe Photoshop 5.0 from an original CD a few months ago. It used to
work well. As of a few week's ago, it does not work. It shows a message "Unable
to load PSUT9532.dll Photoshp will not be able to support 16bit plu-ins. Continue
launching Y/N? If I tried to continue, it puts up a blank window and frees. The
strange thing is psut9532.dll exists in the program files/ adobe photoshop directory.

I uninstalled the program. When I used the CD now to re-install, it does not work.
The set-up.exe does not run at all.

The issue is repeatable on two computers I have that run XP. One other computer
I have with Windows ME, adobe photoshop 5.0 runs fine and the set-up CD loads fine

My theory is that there was an recent update to XP lately that caused this incompatibility?
Out of ideas and confused! I would like to photo editing back without spending a
lot for an upgrade.

A:PhotoShop 5.0 stopped working with XP

I would download a good copy of the DLL and replace all instances of it on your computer after a full search. Keep the old ones in the recycle bin so you at least can trace where they came from and restore them if other programs have problems. There are many sites like this: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/P/Psut9532.dll/3.0.42/download.html

Windows has a sharing system for utility files like DLLs. It should be a simple matter of the first program that installs a particular file being the only repository and other programs share that one. It never seems to work exactly as I anticipate. Photoshop may or may not be using the one in the folder. And that DLL might or might not have been removed and reloaded when you uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Another approach is to uninstall, remove the Photoshop folder and then reinstall. That will probably put a good version of the DLL on the computer.

It would also seem that a DLL starting with ps would be used only for Photoshop. That is probably true but you can’t count on that either. Search didn’t’ find it on my C drive at all, so CS must be using a different method of running 16 bit.

Windows forced an upgrade to 10 this afternoon and suddenly I'm unable to use Photoshop 5.5. (Yes, I know it's an old program but it had no issues in Windows 8.1) The program will simply not open.

I can't afford a new version of PS, the one I have fits my needs, and I'm bordering on furious that it's not working due to this upgrade I did not want.

Is there any way to get to the program to work in 10? If not, I want to know how I can roll back to my previous version of Windows since I am incredibly unhappy with the OS so far.
