I was helped remove malware in a prior post on this computer. see the following link:

Preferred Solution: microsoft feeds synchronization has encountered a problem......ect., and the requested key was not found in any active activat...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: microsoft feeds synchronization has encountered a problem......ect., and the requested key was not found in any active activat...

The file is not there -- already been deleted. But there is a registry startup call for it.You have, or have had a malware infection. You might need some further help. The incomplete line C:\DOCUME~1\owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\3fbe_appcompat.txt may still be a minor infection.Your logs also showed traces of both AVG and avast! antivirus - Make sure only one is running -Click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan and re-scan with it -You may be prompted to disable any antivirus programs for this to run - Download ESET online Scanner this will take a while to load the base program and then the updated definitionsRemove IObit Malware Fighter and other related IObit programs, as they are not currently working -Also Download, or Update (if installed) and run a full scan with these 2 Antimalware programs Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free and SuperantiSpyware FreePost both logs back when finished -Last -Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Delete.Confirm each time with Ok.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.Thank You -

Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close?

Applies To: Windows | Windows XP Pro| System Repair and Recovery

I lost the ability to play videos and DVDs. I ran a sfc /scannow, and was asked to put my XP PRO reinstallation utility disk in, so I did and ran a repair on what it indicated [98 missing or corrupt .dll files] and when it finished was told "This copy of Windows needs to be activated" and then a "Yes or No" set of buttons. Now, that's the first problem as my computer used to be a Vista installed Dell until last year I purchased a used XP PRO SP3 disk on ebay, formatted my hard drive to eliminate Vista altogether, and then did the install of XP PRO SP3 and at that time after the install was complete was able to do the remaining updates and was not asked ever for an "Activation" and/or a Product Key. I don't have one, my Dell came Vista.

Now it gets worse as this is the second and even more serious problem, if I were to press "No" on the "Activate Windows Now" window, it just logs you off. If I press "Yes" on the "Activate Windows Now", nothing happens for 30 to 40 seconds and then I get the window stating "Micorsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close". I only have a desktop image of 'Bliss'. I do not have a task bar or start button or start menu or any ability to do anything in or with Windows because it... Read more

Whem windows is starting I get and error message that the"operating system or hard disk partitions have been altered the current restore point does not match either you current hard disk set up or your operating system etc" I have to push enter and windows opens.
I wanted to fix this and went to run and sfc /scannow and it asked for pro disk and I have home pk 2 disk. You told me how to fix this and I did. It now asks for home pk 2 , but guess what, it doesnt recognize my home pk 2 disk.
So I run Home disk pk 2 from the cd boot option and pick repair disk. It goes at it for 30 minutes then wants to go to windows update cause it had a problem. It searched my system and downloaded someting quick.
Now I get a message that I use as the topic every 5 minutes. My Overdrive Media program that takes downloads from my on line library doesn't recognize my NP3 on transfer. My Farstone still can't find a restore date even though it has bunches of them listed.
Could microsoft loaded sp3 after the disk "repaired" my system and norton wasn't on off??

A:microsoft feeds system encountered a problem and needs to close.

First go to Start/Run and type CMD and hit enter. In the command prompt type chkdsk /f and hit enter. Now type a Y and reboot the system. the Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors. If that fails, try SFC /scannow again. If that fails, try a Repair Install of XP. If that fails, backup your data, and do a clean install of XP.

I honestly didn't know which topic to select for this question. Since I am running Windows Vista Home Premium I selected this forum.

I have a Dell XPS 410, 2GB RAM. I am running AVG Anti Virus w/Firewall. I have the Windows Firewall disabled.

My technical knowledge is very slim.

Suddenly I am getting the pop up that Microsoft Feeds Synchronization is trying to establish contact. Do I have to allow this? Is this due to some Windows update?

Thank you,

I am having a major problem with my computer. It's keep showing Mocrosoft Feeds Synchronization error every 30 sec. And seems to be some very big problem. I have no idea what it is. I have gone through couple of forums here but none of them seems to be helping..
I have followed these steps to make it work..
In IE7 click the Tools button and select Internet Options from the pop-up menu.
On the Content tab of the Internet Options dialog box, click the Settings button in the Feeds section of the dialog box.
In the Feed Settings dialog box, uncheck the "Automatically check feeds for updates" check box
But I DON'T get Feed Setting option when I click on my CONTECT of the Internet options. After clicking on Content option it asks me for Superviser's password required and after filling in the password which I gave it.. It does not show me any sign of FEEDS SETTING to follow the next steps..
And same is the case when I click on the View tab of the IE 7. It simply does not show FEEDS option there as well..

I do not know what to do.. Its bugging the crap out of me!

Please help!

Thanks a lot!

Sounds like your IE7 install has been corrupted.
If you aren't seeing the Feeds section as in the screen shot below, uninstall IE7 (it'll revert to IE6), then re-install.

I have this problem as well as many other 32 bit XP users. The only way to solve it is to upgrade your operating system to Win 7 or higher. The error message wants you to download IE 7 or re-install it, which isn't possible because IE7 isn't compatible with 32 bit XP. Only the 64 bit XP can do this.

A:[SOLVED] Microsoft Feeds Synchronization Error

You probably had IE7 or IE8 loaded at one stage.
Try to manually uninstall them if they are still there:

For IE7:
Go to Start -> Run -> type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe -> OK.
Follow the instructions to uninstall IE7.

For IE8:
Go to Start -> Run -> type %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe -> OK.
Follow the instructions to uninstall IE8.

If this does not work and the IE7/8 uninstall files are missing then you might have to reinstall IE7/8, restart the PC and then uninstall it.

Windows XP would not boot in my wife's old computer off of her hard drive so I booted it off of my installation disk. I then instructed it to repair the windows already installed. I am presently trying to activate windows XP on my wife's computer by clicking Start > All Programs > Activate Windows but the activation window does not open and shortly there after I get the error message:"Microsoft Feeds Synchronization has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience" presumably preventing Windows XP activation. Even entering "oobe/msoobe /a" in the Run window does not launch the activation window which I once again presume is blocked by the error message.

A:the requested look up key was not found in any active activation context

This is a common problem after a repair install for XP.You need to uninstall Internet explorer 7 and if installed IE8 too. Start with IE8 if installed, then uninstall IE7. This gives the method for IE7 you can adapt it to IE8 also.I would suggest to remove your IE7 completely with using following command on the START -> RUN%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exeThis will uninstall IE7 and makes it so that you can reinstall it later. And this works for my PC with the same issue.Hope this helps The trick with IE8 is also the same find the spuninst\spuninst.exe in the /windows/ie8 directory and do it first. Once theyh are uninstalled IE6 should run and you can proceed from there.I have had to do this in the past and getting back to IE6 was the cure.Good LuckRoger

Just thought that I would document a situation that seems to occur.

Last night, I got the bright idea to do a repair install of XP Home, for no particular reason. I had a CD (not slipstreamed, acquired with a PC I bought last year) and I thought I'd try it out, rather than using my slipstreamed copy.

In any case, something went wrong and when I finally was able to get my desktop back...I found that IE6 was reflected as my browser and I could not obtain any support/downloads from the MS website. IE seemed to be working OK for other sites, but not at Microsoft.

Turns out that the repair install process had borked the uninstall of IE8, with the result that the IE7 engine was running behind the IE6 browser which appeared to be properly installed. Since several functions depend on the proper functioning of IE, I found that I could not access Help & Support, download anything from the MS website, etc.

The suggested fixes for this are a routine deletion of IE7 (take a look via Google for topic) or a clean install. The routine suggested to remove IE7 wasn't even possible, since I did not have one of the key files suggested as the .exe, it was not in my IE7 folder.

Ultimately, I decided to reverse the reasoning of many...rather than remove IE7 (which wasn't possible), I would install IE8 from the files I maintain (I keep copies of every major program I install, including SPs and browser changes).

Installing IE8 worked, subsequently this system is back online ... Read more

I can solve this problem by restarting, but then it comes up again. It says "Microsoft feeds synchronization has stopped working" then "Internet Explorer has stopped working" then "restarting Internet Explorer" then the same thing happens. I can't use IE.

I've search the Internet, and I've never had Nod32 (which some people have said was the problem).

Could it be msfeedssync.exe that is the problem. I did stop or disable that service (or something similar to that name) at the suggestion of some websites saying it took up a lot of memory. I can't find that process now to re-enable it.

If I get rid of all my feeds will that work? Is there something I can 'check' that may be unchecked in advanced settings of IE?

When working in Word on my XP Pro computer and have copied or scanned documents that I paste onto the Word document, shortly thereafter, I get an Error Message saying Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. The more copies or scanned documents I paste the sooner I get this message and I am at my wits end to overcome this from happening. Is there something I need to do in order to avoid this?

Your help would be much appreciated and I thank you guys/ladies in advance!

When you scan a document, it is sent to a Temporary folder as well as shown to you. When you are done with the file and delete,Email, or Save it, the Temp version of the document does not go away. There is only so much room in the temp file, and when it reaches it's limit it starts crashing when you Paste a document.
Download and run Temp File Cleaner to safely clean your temp folders.

Here's a problem I haven't seen a solution for.

I couldn't find my MS Office CD when I installed a new HD. So, I installed OpenOffice v2. 4When I found the CD for MS Office 2003, I loaded it and then unistalled OOv2.4. Now, everything about MS Office except Microsoft Office Word works correctly. When MSWord is opened, a error message says "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." There is a check marked box that says, "Recover my work and restart Microsoft Office Word." If the box is unchecked, MS word does not open, If left checked, MS Word opens but no documents are "recovered" and documents cannot be opened from MS Word. Only by going to Windows Explorer / MY Documents can Word documents be opened. MS Word cannot be uninstalled, either. Reloading MS Office 2003does not resolve the problem. Fortunately, all the documents created in or converted by OpenOffice v2.4 converted to MS Word. Any suggestions appreciated.

Try searching for and renaming your normal.dot to normal.old and see if that fixes your issue.

My brother has called and advised that he often gets a Microsoft Site Advisor notification that suggests a problem was encountered and needs to close. He is offered the option to send an error report to Microsoft, which he does. But that's the end of it. He never hears anything from Microsoft. He continues working on his computer until the next Microsoft Site Advisor notification comes up. He is very habitual about running his virus program and spyware programs and keeping them up to date. Since he experiences no problems with his machine, except these "nusiance" notifications from Microsoft, he asked me if I knew of a way to turn this Microsoft notification off. I told him that I had no idea, but that I would contact the Tech Support Guy site to secure their thoughts. He has a Dell computer running Windows XP. His computer is only about a year old.

Any thoughts about this Microsoft Notification and whether it can be turned off?

I keep getting search sites for porn and .com sight in the domain folders in the registry along with the pop up window. I have tried to delete the files but on start up they reappear????I have checked the system 32 files but might be missing something.
I am definitely missing something!!!!
I recently deleted some of the domain folders which may be why the pop up window reappears, but I am not sure.
