microsoft outlook - deleted address problem

Q: microsoft outlook - deleted address problem

I have just accidentally deleted one of my group addresses in my address book. I went to help and it said there was a deleted files icon (like the recycle bin that comes with XP) on the toolbar but when I looked there wasnt one. They said I could get the addresses back easily with this. Can anyone help me to solve this please?? I have looked everywhere I can think of to find the deleted files in outlook and cant and I dont want to go to the trouble of doing it all over again/may not remember some of the addresses that was in the group.
Also, is there any other way I can get it back? thanks guys

I recommend downloading and running DRP. It's a recovery tool that has been proven to recover files that most other programs have no luck with. I've even recovered files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/v51TwD. (This link will automatically start a download of DRP that you can save to your computer.)

In Outlook, View> click on Folder List. This should open a panel on the left with
all the Folders. The Deleted Items folder should be in the list under Outlook Today- [Personal Folders].

I accadentally deleted all of the contacts in my outlook 2000 address book. I have been told that everything you delete is not fully deleted. it is stilll on my computer somewhere, but does anybody know where???????

A:deleted my outlook address book

It should be in your recycle bin.
The recycle bin has a restore function.

If you are running Norton System Works (a utility program), then
you have a Norton Protected Recycle bin. That lists the last 25
files you deleted, and lets you restore them.

Hope this helps.

PS: It is good to save address lists and such to a floppy disk once in awhile, so that you can manually reenter them if something like this happens. Or, you can print the "select all"
addresses occasionally, so you have a copy around.

Hi Everyone,

its my first time posting here, what an excellent resource. I wasn't able to find the solution to my problem by searching the forum threads...

I am running Windows Xp with Microsoft outlook express as the default email server. I accidentally deleted my outlook identity, as such all the emails are gone.

How can I retrieve these?

regards,
Sean

A:Deleted Microsoft Outlook Express Identity

You may be able to create a new identity and then import the email file from the message store for your old profile.

It should be located in one of these folders:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Outlook Express\{GUID}
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Copy Outlook Express address book contacts to Outlook
Scroll down to the section: Exporting Outlook Express contacts
Click on the + beside the option you want.
Import Outlook Express contacts into the Outlook Contacts folder or
Export the Outlook Express contacts to a Personal Address Book
You probably want the first.

I recently changed an email address in Outlook. This address is included in a distribution list (MAPIPDL). However, when I sent out an email using this distribution list, it went back and used the old email address.

I went in and totally deleted the distribution list and the address of the recipient and then re-entered their address using wife's name first rather than husband's name first, thinking that might confuse it enough to use the corrected email. However, when I sent something out again using this distribution list, it went back and used the same old email address for this recipient.

There is no trace of that old email address left in the address book and I am dumbfounded as to how to get this corrected.

Thank you for your help.

A:Address book in Microsoft Outlook 2003

What happens if you remove them from the "D" list and send an email out using it? As a last means delete them from your address book close Outlook then reopen it and add them back as a new contact. Open the distribution list and add their contact to the list and see what happens. Outlook picks the email address's from whatever is in the email area of the contacts details, so double check these details through the Contacts folder, rather than through the Distribution List.

Hi Tech Support

We lost all our e-mail files. Hubby got a message stating that our system had lost a file. (Outlook.PST he thinks) My hubby worked on Microsoft Outlook and was able to receive new e-mail, but we still can't access our old e-mail. We also lost our address book and cannot retrieve it back. Hi,

I have what I hope is a temporary need to change my default "from" email address.

I have changed it from say aaa to bbb using tools/email/change/emailaddress and also rest the "more settings/reply email facility so replies go to my new email address too
I have set the bbb as my default email account [using tools/email/set as default]

Here is the problem;

when I create "new" emails it correctly uses the new "bbb" email address as my from address.

All seems to be OK.

BUT IF I receive a reply to this email that I sent [that was sent out with my bbb email address] and THEN I try to REPLY to it - the reply email now shows at the top "this email will be sent via aaa" - rather than the bbb I want it too!].

I hope I have explained it clearly - and you can see the frustration of the outloook programme.

It is as though outlook simply refuses to recognise the new default email account I have set up!

Frustrating to say the least - any technical help appreciated.

Cheers

Mike

By any chance do the bbb e-mail account settings in Outlook show your aaa address as a "Reply to" address? The entry can be found in "More settings ... -> General Tab" when the bbb account is open for editing.

I don't have any other suggestions other than that.

Looking through my Document File "Alpha Address List"I accidently replaced the file with a Blank File of the same name . When I tried to open it there was nothing in there. I looked in the Recycle bin there were no files in there at all. Where had it gone ? How could I find it and restore it?

I believe I made a grave error next as I went into the Recovery Programme and picked a recovery point which was 4 or 5 days back from the day my "Alpha Address List" file went missing. When the restore had been completed I looked at the "Alpha Address File" and just a blank copy of that was there.

I realise now that all the recovery programme did was restore the Windows System Files and not the Office 10 personal document "doc" files.

It may be a lost cause now but is there any way I can retrieve the "Alpha Address List" file back .

Hi

I have a clean installation of Windows 10.1 enterprise (English).
I try to use Microsoft Edge browser to search a query. All settings are just "default out of the box".

Most queries work ok but if I try a query with a dot then browser thinks I am entering an URL. For example I try searching "xamarin forms 2.0". This ends up with browser attempting to open an URL: "http://xamarin%20forms%202.0/"
which obviously fails.

In classic Internet Explorer 11 this problem does not reproduce, only in Edge.

Any idea how to fix that?

Best regards,
Eugene.

I've tried to compare the contacts but I cant spot any difference whatsoever in them =/.

Running Outlook XP 2002 on WinXP Professional.

Just loaded Office XP 2002 on a new computer (I don't like the "new and improved" upgrades). Normally, when I begin typing an address in a new email, Outlook picks it up from the Contacts folder or other stored addresses and completes it.

On the new computer, this isn't happening. So I went to Tools > Email accounts > Add a New Directory or Address Book > Additional Address Books. That window showed "Outlook Address Book" as one of the options (the other was "Personal Address Book").

But when I clicked on Outlook Address Book, I got this message:
"The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-configured correctly."

Can anyone tell me what "account" this refers to, or what kind of re-configuring I need to do to get this function to work? I've tried running the repair sequence from the CD, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the entire Office suite. No help.

The only (still painful) way I know of, it to select the Contact group. In the TO: list, expand the Group and delete the individuals yoy do not want to receive. On the bright side, the remaining people can be copied and a new more limited Contact Group created if needed.

Just got a new computer with Vista and Office 2007. Didn't realize I was in for such a big change.

I availed myself of the offer to get a special cable and software to facilitate transferring everything from the XP to the Vista and it worked reasonably well.

The problem--I can't establish an Address Book. All my contacts are there, although the form didn't transfer quite right (that's a problem for another post), but I have no address book. The help I've been able to get says to right click on the Contacts folder, pick properties, go to the Outlook Address Book Tab and pick the folder as an Address Book. The problem is that all the options are grayed out--I can't select an address book. The textbox with the name of the address book says "Contacts," but I cannot select the checkbox that allows me to select it as an address book.

So, if someone could please tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be very grateful.

We use Outlook at work for email. In Outlook, we have created a distribution list that contains a large amoutn of email addresses. When I open a new mail message and type in the name of the file it comes up. If I select the + sign it shows and expands all the email addresses. My co-worker has the same exact setup but when he clicks the + sign, his Outlook says it can not perform the requested operation, the command selected is not valid for this recipient, the operation failed. I don't know why it works for me but not him...is it a setting?

One more bit of info to add, if he goes into his contacts folder, he is able to select "email" at the top and it puts the distribution list in there. When he clicks on the "+" symbol, it expands the list and shows him the addresses and lets him send the email.

I have a distribution list in my OE6 address book, and one name insists on jumping out of alphabetical order, and I cannot figure out why. There are no apparent extraneous characters or symbols. Yet time & time again ... it jumps to the top of the list.

Hi Anyone..

Just recently my address book has gotton jumbled, and contacts are now not in alphabetical order. I'm not sure what happened. I have checked Tools, Properties, and am seeing nothing giving me the option to re arrange them back in order. If worse comes to worse, I may have to write them all down on paper. Delete the complete address book and replace them one at a time. What a hastle that will be. I have done a Virus scan, with nothing shown or picked up. I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary to cause it to happen.

Does anyone have any other iedas how I can get them back in order.? I may have overlooked some option that may exist, but I'm sure there isn't one.

Any help or advice would greatly appreciated..

Hi,

I once installed IE10 on a WinXPSP3, and I used the Outlook express to send e-mails.
I also kept all of my contacts in the Outlook's Express Address Book.

Now, I Uninstalled the IE10 to the Previous Version (IE9) and when I opened my outlook express I coudn't see my address book.
I have there more then 300 emails I need.

Is it gone ??? Can I save it?
Help?!?!

Thanx

I know I'm running an outdated program. It's Office 2003 SP3. I use outlook for my email. Problem is:
When I click to open a new mail message, (I want to compose & send a new email) The window will open and I can compose the email with no problems. When I click on my address book I get an error msg from word that says "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persist, restart Outlook." I have restarted outlook, done a system restore and tried to reinstall SP3. I could not reinstall SP3 because it is already on my computer. I don't have an installation disk for Office 2003 any more or I would uninstall and reinstall the program.

I can copy & paste the address in the "send to" box and it works. I just can't get the address book to open.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am using windows 10 on a Dell desktop, and I believe I am using Outlook 2013.
My main email account is with Comcast, and it is working fine. I wanted to add a gmail account in Outlook, and I believe that I managed that ok-the test of incoming and outgoing servers worked ok. But I cannot receive any email sent from gmail senders, including myself. The gmail messages show up in Gmail's Inbox, but they do not come through to my Outlook. Comcast can not help, of course. I have not tried Gmail support yet. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A:Problem setting up Outlook to use a gmail address

I appear to have solved my Gmail/Outlook problem. I used Google to ask about it, and here were the links addressing such a problem: https://www.google.com/search?q=prob...utlook&ie=&oe=
It turns out Google believes in very secure email systems, so they built in a problem for Outlook. You have to tell Google to allow less secure systems like Outlook to use gmail, which I did, and a test message worked. Problem solved, except that Google did not make it easy!

How can I change Outlook so that all my deleted files are deleted rather than being sent into the "Deleted" folder?

There must be a way?

A friend called and said his PST file was corrupt. I went there, copied his PST file, brought it home, repaired it using scanpst.exe. Took it back and everything is back to normal except his address book is empty.

I've still got a copy of his PST file here and the address book doesn't show up here either.

In case it matters, we had to create a new log-in profile on his system before we could get Outllook to run at all.

So, where is the address book data?
