X1 Yoga (Gen 1) Bug with new Intel Video Driver 21.20.16.4678 (Installed via Lenovo Companion)

Q: X1 Yoga (Gen 1) Bug with new Intel Video Driver 21.20.16.4678 (Installed via Lenovo Companion)

The newest Intel Video Driver that Lenovo Companion has made available (21.20.16.4678) has an issue ive found that wasnt present in the previous one, and is not present in a newer version (22.20.16.4718) installed automatically through Windows 10 after uninstalling the driver through "Add or remove programs". The bug is that certian (maybe all?) OpenGL applications seem slightly zoomed in. I tested this with Genymotion VM's, after the install of the new driver they all seemed to run as if the window border diddnt exist, clipping the edges of what is shown in the window (much more noticable at the top due to the title bar). Ive restored from backups and manually installed that driver from Lenovos driver download page for this system and the same issue occures. While its possible its an incompatibility with that software, it is not present in the newer drivers (this "new" driver is actually alwready old) so it might be worth pushing a newer driver.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I used Lenovo Settings on my Lenovo Yoga 3 11 for the battery conservations mode. So I was forced to install Lenovo Companion since it recently replaced Lenovo Settings.Ever since I did this, I have noticed the following:* Screen brightness keeps changing by itself slightly* Screen contrast keeps changing by itself slightly* Colours look muted and unsaturated, and filtered. Makes the sceen look worse than it should.* trackpad is only ignorred if the tablet mode is fully flat. The slightest opening causes the trackpad and keyboard to become sensitive. All of this irrespective of whether Dynamic Brighness Control is enabled or disabled in Lenvovo Companion hardware settings, and regarless of whether recommended hardware settings are used.Anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll report back after I've uninistalled the app to see whether any of these behaviours disappear.

A:Noticed issues ever since I installed Lenovo Companion (which replaced Lenovo Settings)

So I deactivated "Change brightness autoatically when lighting changes" in Windows Display Settings. This seems to have been the cause of the brightness and contrast changes, but the colours still look blander than I recall. Sorry to suspect Lenovov Companion so quickly, but the changes coincided with it's installation. Admittedly Windows 10 Fall edition just landed too.

I dont usually make updates, but when i do...I opened the Lenovo Companion and went for the drivers updates. There was 3 updates: WLAN (I think), Bluetooth, and a BIOS (4WCN29WW) update. I installed the lenovo programs needed to download the updates, as the Lenovo Companion recommended, and started updating the drives. At the BIOS update i was prompted that this update was for the Lenovo 300/500 series and proceeded. After the update, my notebook is not starting. Since its encounter a couple of weeks ago, I have been unsuccessful in fully downloading and installing this specific Driver for my computer. Is there any indication of issues for this Drive? And what should I do to resolve it? Also, if the Driver can't be properly updated, what is its purpose for my system? Any form of help concerning this Driver update issue would be appreciated.

Hi,I just recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 900 Laptop that came with the Intel 520 graphics card and Windows 10. I have begun to realize a re-occurring issue where I receive a Blue Screen of Death error (stop error) whenever I am trying to edit a video with adobe premiere pro or sometimes when I am playing games. The error is VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (igdkmd64.sys). Each time this happens I have to restart my edit or my game because my computer must reboot and it makes me want to scream . After frantically looking for solutions on the internet I got nothing that worked except for disabling the driver, which is OK, but I can't help but feel angry that I don't get to use my new graphics card to its full potential... So, is this problem solvable? I have tried uninstalling the driver and restarting my computer, but that did not work. Is this something I will just have to live with until an updated driver or windows 10 update is released? It just hurts that whenever I play a game or edit I have to disable my display driver. Hello, recently the wireless symbol in the taskbar disappeared from time to time and connection via WiFi was not possible but connection via LAN cable was possible.I checked the network and internet settings and a WiFi-adapter was not listed anymore.I checked the device manager of my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro but the "Intel (R) Wireless-N 7260" device disappeared.Only when I choosed "Show faded out devices" I saw the "Intel (R) Wireless-N 7260" device. When I choose Properties from "Intel (R) Wireless-N 7260" this message appears:  "This device is not connected to the computer (Code 45)".Some times when this problem occured I could bring the device to work by a hard reset. It also happened a few times that the laptop did not boot and a hard reset solved the problem of not booting and the not connected wireless module. Now the device is gone again but a hard reset does not solve the problem anymore. What's remarkable is that often before the problem occured I could surf the web intensively via WiFi then I closed the laptop cover (Hibernation mode is set) but when I waked it up again WiFi was gone. The newest Intel driver for the device has been installed after an OS upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Also all other device drivers are up to date (checked via "Driver Booster 5"). From time to time there also was an automatic shut down by Windows.  Today I checked the Windows event viewer after this hapened:  An error occured for the Miniport "Intel(... Hello, how is it possible from a manufacturer point of view that VGA driver is not update since 2014? At Lenovo site, the last Intel VGA for the laptop is from 8/10/2014 and ready for Windows 8.1. It is very annoying that Lenovo is not paying enough attention to this. At the very same time, I cannot install the Intel driver due to incompatibility. If Lenovo was not ready for Windows 10, why are we being offered to upgrade? Very unprofessional. Cheers.

When I tried to update the driver, the Intel tool gave a warning about installing the driver as the current driver in the laptop is configured by Lenovo. I am wondering if Lenovo will issue a new driver with their tuned-in parameters.. The current driver is based on old one and it is bad that we are missing those new enhancements. Thanks!

When I upgraded from Win 8.0 to Win 8.1 I lost control of brightness.  So display is always on Full 100% which hurts my eyes and burns through battery charges in less than 2 hours.   Lenovo solution was to rollback video driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 to the 8.0 version. Then I upgraded to Win 10 because Lenovo said it was compatible.   I totally lost the ability to adjust brightness again.  This time, when I tried to rollback to 8.0 video driver, I lost all screen functions and had to do a major reinstall of Windows! Here is the kicker, there appears to be no solution on the Lenovo website, but dig this, I was just told if I pay $69.00 for a software technician to take control of my machine, they can "surely fix it".  When I asked why won't they post the solution on the forums and FAQs for the Windows 10 users, the sales person (yes, more sales than tech support) repeated an endless script of my options to provide a credit card that will surely fix my problem as the software technicians are very familiar with the problem. So here is the ask:  Has anyone gained the secret knowledge that Lenovo has monetized to get their Windows 10 laptops to work right and are you willing to share it? P.S.  Lenovo Company Message Board Manager:  you may want to address this with your superiors as a serious customer relations fail.

I upgraded to Windows 10 on Thursday and all went well, this is however until I tried to project my screen to a second display and got a message saying that there was a problem with the graphics driver. So I checked Device Manager and I did indeed have a yellow warning triangle and the following message:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Now I've tried completely uninstalling the driver so that the laptop is only using the basic Windows VGA driver then reinstalling with the latest Windows 10 driver off the Lenovo support page. I have also tried the latest Windows 10 driver off the Intel site just to be sure but I keep getting the same error.

Any ideas?

A:Yoga 2 13 - Windows 10 - Intel Display Driver Error - HELP!!!!!

Hi have few issues when I have upgraded with Windows 10. So I have decided to do a full recovery:

SETTINGS
=> Update & security (windows update, recovery, backup)
=> Recovery / Get started (Reset this PC)
=> Remove everything (remove all your personnel files, apps and settings)
=> Only the drive where windows is installed
This did a full fresh installation of windows 10 on my C drive, and it kept all my personnel files (docs, pictures, video, etc) on my D drive.
now everything is working very good and fast. this may be the final solution for you, but at least this will setup a clean windows 10 on your yoga without any interference with some lenovo previous apps setting.

Anyway I have attached my current setting for my display, hopping this will help:

I have done a clean install of Windows 10. In Device Manager all drivers are present except for the Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Manager (see attached picture). There are three other drivers present for DPTF, but the DPTF Manager has issue. If I double-click on the entry, a message displays saying the device cannot start (error 10) and the process hosting the driver for this device has terminated. I have tried updating the driver to no avail. I have also downloaded the DPTF driver from the Lenovo website. However, when I try to install it a message displays saying the Realtek bluetooth device will not work on this version of Windows. For information, every chipset driver reports this message on installation.I would be grateful of some help to get the driver for DPTF Manager installed/working. Before the clean install of W10, I am pretty sure all was OK with DPTF drivers.Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you.
