I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Precision 7710 How many m.2 SSDs can install into 2.5" drive bay

The 2.5" drive bay still only has a single SATA connector available on the motherboard, so even though multiple M.2 SSDs would physically fit in the space of a 2.5" drive bay, you wouldn't have a way to connect them all. Even if you only wanted one, I'm not sure there's an M.2 to SATA adapter. I know there are mSATA to SATA, but that's a different physical connector. Also note that even if there WERE an M.2 to SATA adapter, you would need to ensure that your M.2 SSD used the SATA protocol, not NVMe/PCIe, since that would not be able to run over SATA (and even if it could, its performance would suffer significantly by doing so).

I am trying to do a clean install of Win 7 Pro on my Precision 7710 and every time I boot off of the DVD and click Install it goes a screen saying there are no drivers found for the device. I have tried switching to UMEI mode, RAID mode, Legacy on and off... no luck. What drivers am I missing exactly?

A:Cannot install Win 7 on Precision 7710

Hello!  In the BIOS make sure RAID is off and switched to AHCI, Legacy should be on, secure boot off.  Then when you hit the F key (forget which one) to access what to boot from, make sure you are using legacy DVD drive and not anything that would say UEFI.  As long as you are not using RAID or via some USB 3 external drive you should be fine.

I have purchased Dell products for the last 25 years and – until this experience – was a big fan of both Dell products and Dell IT support.
In October of 2016, I purchased a Precision 7710 with the Advance E-Port Plus docking station. I already had two HD Ultrasharp Dell Monitors. Despite misgivings about Windows 10 I ordered the computer with the Windows 10 OS.
The computer had display issues, so that my HD monitors looked fuzzy and pixelated. (This was not related to any particular app, as even the desktop icons looked bad.)
After several calls to Pro Support, I was told to return the computer for a refund and purchase the same computer again, which I did. (I was hesitant, because the computer is very expensive, and I had already experienced a high level of confusing around the order - for example, I never received an invoice, and the computer arrived with no paperwork - no invoice, packing slip - nothing. As a small business owner, that we very worrisome.)
Right after receiving the new computer, I had major surgery, and did not use the docking station for several weeks, because I could not sit at a desk. (This was my one major mistake, because it meant that I missed the deadline for a straight return.) When I finally did attempt to use my external monitors, the computer had the same problem. There were other, seemingly associated problems, such as the fact that the NVIDIA control panel and the Intel control panel could not detect more than one monitor. There we... Read more

I have a new Precision 7710 with a 2.5 inch 1GB SATA SSD (system boot=Disk0) and a 1GB NVMe PM951 SSD.
I have been attempting to install Windows Server 2012R2 on the second, M.2 SSD (Disk1) into a GPT, NTFS partition.
Since this system has no DVD, I made a bootable UEFI thumb drive with the contents of the .iso installation for Server 2012R2.
The thumb drive boots OK and I can begin installation, but when it comes to choosing the target for installation, the M.2 SSD is not visible in setup.
The M.2 drive is clearly visible inside Windows 10 Pro as the D: drive.
So...I mounted the .iso setup file in Windows 10 and ran setup.exe. The install began and could see the target M.2 drive, and began loading files on the second SSD. It then attempted the first of several restarts that come with this process with the new Server 2012 R2 environment.
It sucessfully modified the Windows Boot Manager before the restart, then restarted, and the setup program gave an error because it could not find the target partition on the second SSD.
The setup environment then modified the Boot Manager to "Windows Setup Rollback" and proceeded to enter an infinite loop, attempting to delete files from the unreachable M.2 drive. I manually choose Windows 10 on the boot menu, and once booted changed Windows 10 back to the default OS.
I've tried several things (turning off Secure boot, changing from UEFI to legacy bios--it won't boot at all that way) , but I can't get that second disk t... Read more

Frequently, the screen on my Precision 7710 will not wake up. I can actually remotely connect to the laptop at this time and work on it fine but sitting in front of it, the only thing that works is a hard reboot. I've similar issues on other models related to BIOS. I figured that Windows 10 updates would fix the problem but it persists since Dec-15 when I bought it. Anybody managed to find a fix for this?

My Dell Precision 7710 is 5 months old. One week ago the audio on my Windows 10 disappeared - the speaker icon got a red cross. Clicking on it I get the message that no audio speaker is connected. I reinstalled the drivers - tried three types: from Dell's website, Nvidia's and directly from Realtek - no result. Then reinstalled Windows with drive_C formatting: still no sound. I know that my laptop has a built-in Audio from Realtek. But in the Device Manager in the list of sound devices there is no such device: just "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" (in case of Nvidia's driver was installed) and "Audio Device High Definition Audio" (in case of Dell's standard driver) - both related to the HDMI output. No mentioning about Realtek Audio. It looks like Windows 10 doesn't recognize Realtek audio hardware anymore. I launched device test from Dell's Support website - the results said the system is alright, no problems. Thinking that probably this is a hardware issue I also launched the ePSA diagnostics (pressing F12 on the startup), but the test hasn't found any hardware problems. But when I clicked to audio test there (there was something about test beep) - there was no sound from the speaker. But Windows 10 still doesn't see any sound device (except that mentioning about HDMI). Here is 3 screenshots:https://imgur.com/a/ZgVYTWhat's the problem with it and how to fix it? Thank you. ... Hi blamingas,
If there was no sound from the speaker when you ran the test in ePSA it would indicate a hardware failure.

I have a new 7710 that came with a 256GB NVMe SSD.  I have upgraded it to a Samsung 950 Pro 512.  I am using Windows 10 UEFI.
I have a question on the bios setting.  Should it be AHCI or RAID.  The machine came default with RAID On and came with Win 10 Pro pre-installed.
Currently I switched it to ACHI, used the MS Download and installed Win 10 Pro.  Once in windows, I installed all the dell drivers and also the Samsung NVMe driver.
I have read on different forums that the bios setting should be RAID, but also read it should be AHCI.
Question:  Which should it be.  Is one better than the other?
Or is it just that if in AHCI, it will use the MS NVMe Driver (or Samsung NVMe Driver) and if in RAID, it will use the Intel IRST drivers?
I assume if AHCI like I have it, then I can use the Samsung NVMe Driver.  I have read if not in AHCI, the Samsung NVMe Driver will not install.
If I switch to RAID, then I would need to use the Intel Rapid Storage Tech (IRST) Driver and not the samsung driver (I read samsung driver will not install if AHCI).
So I am confused if one is better than the other (AHCI or Raid).
FYI, I have been using for around 10 days and no BSOD due to the PCIe NVMe drive.

A:Precision 7710 and Samsung NVMe 950 Pro

I own a Precision 7510 and am in the same situation. I did exactly the same except that I left the BIOS setting to Raid ON. When in Raid ON the Samsung Magician can only do the following:

Disk drive information for all installed disks. Particularly with the NVMe drive S.M.A.R.T. is not functioning even though it should be. All other drives display S.M.A.R.T. correctly.
Performance Benchmark. Only this function is selectable. All other functions are not available. Probably because the Intel Rapid Storage Techonlogy driver is loaded and not the Samsung NVMe

From performance view it seems pretty fast. Today I am going to change the BIOS setting to AHCI and I will share my results.

Hi!
Our corporation are running several lines of computers from Dell where as the Precision 7710 (soon to be 7720) is currently the "top of the line" laptop computer available for our employees.
Some of us are finding the Quadro cards installed limiting for certain tasks and I am currently researching the possibilities connecting an external egpu unit to the P7710 through the Thunderbolt 3 port.
The setup I have is, as mentioned, a P7710 connected to an Asus Rog XG Station 2 holding an Asus Strix Geforce GTX 1080 TI inside. It's not working. I spent the entire day reading forums and reddits, flashing bios and updating all drivers possible. I've also been tweaking and adjusting settings inside the BIOS ot get it working.
As far as I can tell the Thunderbolt firmware currently available to the P7710 is not supporting external GPUs. PD Firmware version is currently 16.00. Thunderbolt do recognize the external unit by name though.
Any help getting it working or notification on implementation progress is really appreciated!
Thank you.
Best regards.

All right, so my company has a try-buy 7710 that we're thinking of making our high end standard. This unit has 2x M.2 PCIe drives in it.
I have integrated the following hotfix into our installation wim for Windows 7 (not necessary in the boot wim, since its WinPE 10):
All of our drivers are successfully imported into MDT, and they're injected during the task sequence. However, when MDT reboots from PE into Windows, I get a BSOD 0x7B. When booting in safe mode, it crashes at DISK.SYS
All right. Tells me it's a driver issue then.
What driver do I need to remove / inject in order to get this functioning? I'm really trying to make a strong case about Dell to my manager, but issues like this make it really hard on my part.

Hi,
I'm custom configuring a Precision 7710 system and trying to pick a 2nd SSD.
The boot drive will be the "512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance Class 50 Solid State."   I believe it's connected directly to the PCIe bus buss via an M.2 connector.
For the second drive I'm considering the "512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance Class 50 Solid State Drive with Interposer."   However, I looked up Interposer and it appears to be a SATA adapter. So, does this mean the 2nd drive will be running on the SATA bus?  If so, this high performance PCIe SSD will not be able to live up to it's full potential due to the SATA bottleneck, right?   I would be better off just getting a cheaper SATA drive, no?
Thanks!

Hello together,
hope some one has an idea.
We have an Precision 7710 which often, e.g. after returning back to the docking station, doesn't recognize the USB devices like mouse, keyboard and wireless headset anymore. These are connected to the docking station.
In the device manager are then a lot of unrecognized devices also.
We changed already the docking-station, no effect.
We tried to uninstall / install USB device drivers.
We made BIOS update.
Dell support changed the main board, that had no effect either.
The device got reimaged, then it worked for two weeks.
Now the problem reappeared. The user has no administrative rights, no installations have been done in the mean time. He only worked with the laptop, e.g. connected USB sticks, a Nokia phone and a 3D mouse.
I got it running again by deleting the unknow devices in device manager, then docking again. But after some minutes and undocking / docking the problem appeared again.
We have the same Laptop with same installations at other places with no problems.
Dell hotline says now I have to reimage again, it is probably a software error.
Is it really possible that connecting some USB devices can break all USB ports at the docking station?
Probably we will reimage one more time and take care then which devices we will connect.
But I don't really know what to do then. I fear the problem will appear at random again.
Windows 10 64-bit is used.

I have a Precision 7710 that the adapter does not power up on the newer Boeing 777's.  I've been told that the 240w adapter is the issue.  The plane power limit is apparently 95w?  Anyone know if a lesser wattage adapter would work with the Precision 7710?  Doesn't need to charge the battery, only needs to power the laptop so I can work longer than 2-3 hours on my long 13 hour flights.

A:Precision 7710 no adapter power on Boeing 777

You need a more portable system than this one if you plan to use it on long flights - there's no way 95W will power a Precision 7710.
Consider  buying a lightweight tablet-2 in one or a 14" or smaller travel notebook (or extra batteries, assuming they permit those on the plane).

I decided to upgrade my Dell Precision 7710 (service tag: <Service tag removed>) from non-ECC memory to ECC memory. The laptop was originally configured with 8Gb of non-ECC RAM (2x4GB 2133MHz Hynix p/n HMA451S6AFR8N-TF). After replacing the original memory with ECC(2x16GB 2400MHz Crucial CT16G4TFD824A.18FA1 p/n 18ASF2G72HZ-2G3A1 ) the laptop does not boot. Status LED blinks 2 times amber and 5 times white. The cycle repeats few times and the computer powers off.
I'm using only primary memory banks (both of them are working fine with original sticks) and the newest available BIOS – 1.9.5 .
I've tested several configurations and the only one that works is mixing an old 2133MHz non-ECC stick with a new 2400Mhz ECC stick. This suggests that BIOS is not able to handle scenario when only 2400MHz memory is installed.
Are there any chances that this will be fixed by BIOS update?

However, the order I played had Lithium Polymer selected:
"451-BBUV | 6 Cell (91 Whr) Long Life Cycle Lithium Polymer battery"
Was I given the wrong battery or is it incorrectly labeled?

A:Dell Precision 7710 Batteries - Do I have Lithium Polymer?

No, you do not have the correct battery.
Unfortunately, Dell never made this battery or discontinued it before shipping (yet as of mid-April 2016 they are still offering it on new systems. Ugh.) The 91Whr Lithium-Ion battery (much cheaper) is their replacement equivalent.
You and I have been OVERCHARGED for a battery that they don't have. Call Dell and GET A REFUND.

Description: Update Package for Microsoft® Windows® 64-Bit. (27.78 MB)

Release Date: 10 Aug 2016

Version: 4.4.28.187 ,A06

Last Updated: 19 Aug 2016
The update appeared to succeed, but now I get a notification saying "ControlVault firmware upgrade in progress" EVERY REBOOT.  I tried uninstalling the ControlVault application, but that doesn't get rid of the popup.

In the Event Manager, it shows an Event ID 2 for the source "USHUpgradeService" with a description of "CV firmware upgrade failed".

2)  Is there a fix for a bad firmware install?  Or is the ControlVault hardware useless now?

Our company has developed and uses a software package that utilises WPF to render 3D content in an XBAP in Internet Explorer.  When I attempt to use this software on the 7710, the 3D content flickers a lot when it is redrawn, making it pretty much unusable.  From the stats that we can get from our application, we can see that the update time for the redraw / present is about 45ms, whereas on most other PCs, even ones utilising the integrated Intel graphics, it is usually about 12ms.

I've got a Dell Precision 7710 with the Dell Precision Optimizer. It works great for when I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D in setting up the laptop for optimization by turning off 2 cores and increasing the clock speed of the processor.
Unfortunately I also do programming with Virtual Machines. When I'm in this mode I want all 4 cores to share the load instead of 2 cores.
Is there a workflow available to go from one profile to no profile? Do I have to do a restart to switch between profiles? So if I'm doing CAD work and then switch over to programming do I have to turn off the AutoCAD profile to no profile and the restart the computer? I tried turning off the profiles and nothing changes for the cores.
Is there a way to create my own profile? Or should I pick one like 3ds Max that would utilize more cores?  Or should I not use it since it won't meet my needs?

Hello,

I deploy Windows 7 enterprise 64 bit with SCCM 2012 and bitlocker is setup during the task sequence with a PIN code on boot.
This process is working for all model until then .. Latitude and Precision from previous generations.. but now with new models there is an issue with the PIN. At the end of task sequence, the disk is encrypted and there is no error BUT the PIN code is not recognized and the recovery key is asked.
This recovery key is correctly registered in AD. TPM is on and ownership is ok. TPM version is 1.2...
I already tried to manualy decrypt and encrypt again after TPM reset but no way.
I also tried Windows 10 enterprise, and issue is the same.
Is it a known issue ? Did someone here already experienced the same ?

After updating all of the drivers I could find (LG, Intel 530, NVIDIA), I still can't get the 7710 to produce the 2560 x 1080 resolution?

According to the documentation I've read, this should be possible.

The machine came with 16GB in primary slots on bottom side.
Successfully upgraded them to 32GB.
Trouble with the top (secondary) slots underneath the keyboard.
First try (with memory installed) the machine was essentially "Dead" -- only the battery light alternated amber/white for a few seconds and the machine would power off.
Second try.  I used same brand as in bottom side.
The BIOS showed 64GB in all four slots.
HOWEVER, the machine would not boot up Windows 10 Pro.
After removing the memory and  putting back the battery, I noticed the keyboard electrical connectors to keyboard that are under the battery had worked loose.
Don't know if they were already loose when I was trying the full 64GB installed.
Could this be the reason that the BIOS could see the memory, but the OS would not start?
Just asking before I go to the effort to try another time to use 64GB.  Having to deal with the keyboard each time is a real hassle.
OR, could there be another reason for the memory under the keyboard not functioning properly?
THANKS.

Get yourself a beverage of choice (beer, coffee, tea), and settle in for a 20 minute read. If it only takes you 5 minutes to read this, read it again four times! When I first created these instructions I was working from the assumption that the person following them would have some RAID experience on standard mechanical drives, but as this may not always be the case please take the extended instructions (above) into consideration.

she got errors that wouldn't allow her to get to the OS, it would go through the first black screen listing all the do-dads ( sorry I'm not all that computer savvy when it comes to hardware ) then another black screen and at the bottom, it says boot from CD:. cant do anything else but put the CD in and boot from there. ( sometimes it tells us that the HD wont support HPA also .. )

She does that and goes through the reformat process and re partitions through the set up and it stats to load. when its done it goes back to set up, at witch point she takes out the CD after F3 and lets the system boot up again with out the CD.

still the same result. I have followed the advise in THIS thread did all the fixboot and etc and we still get the same problems ( thought it did say it created a new boot area on the HD )

Tried everything and by everything, i do mean everything. spent close to a week frying my brains on this problem. after getting to the select language and input screen, it loads and then goes to a screen saying that the required CD/DVD driver is missing. tried different OS, windows 7 home, home premium, ultimate and proffesional. it all ends up with missing drivers. i mount/burn them onto a 4gb scandisk cruzer blade. i actually managed to install it the same exact way, via that thumb drive. and by some freak problem, had to format everything. even the os. so all i hav now is an empty hard drive, bios setting and my bootable usb drive.i set the bios to AHCI and vice versa to IDE. i dont have RAID though. i tried installing a AHCI controller from the driver disk that came with my notebook but to no succes. tried searching for my hard drive driver even though my bios recognizes it. im really at my wits end here. my notebook is an Asus Pro36sd or U36sd.. hard disk is a fujitsu mhz2250bj g2.. please help guys..

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I read many threads on the internet regarding this problem, but I didn't try any of those in fear that I might misunderstand something and worsen the condition.
Can anyone give me a step by step info on what to do?

I got a new 2 TB drive for my PC. I never had any trouble installing Windows before. I wanted to make the drive the primary drive.

I keep on getting an error message that Windows's can't be installed on this drive because it is the wrong "NFTS" format? I had never heard of that before. I tried to format it via the installation and it wouldn't let me do that either.

The drive is properly connected. I reinstalled the old hard drive, and kept the new one in there as well. It is recognized and works fine as a "slave" or secondary drive. It is formatted as an NFTS.

Any idea what could be going wrong?

but the problem is the System Reserved partition showed up on the x86 OS. every time i open My Computer i can see the system reserved partition..i could accidentally do something wrong with the partition if it remains unhidden so i want to hide it..I was thinking of changing the drive letter but i afraid that's going to give me boot problem..in disk management the System Reserved is labelled Z and marked as active..tried to set my other partition as active that day but the pc cannot boot at all not even the boot manager showed up. however I managed to fix it using my recovery disc to access the cmd and reactivate the Z drive using diskpart. help~

Hello cajuan93

Just remove the drive letter totally from the system reserved partition in disk management to stop it showing up in My Computer. By default that partition should not have a drive letter assigned to it.

Hey all,

I just bought and installed a 2TB Seagate Barracuda LP ST32000542AS hard drive in addition to my existing hard drive. It was not detected by Windows XP, although the serial number ST32000542AS showed up in BIOS.

I noticed that for a split second as i started up, there was a screen with the word "RAID" and instructions saying "press ctrl + I", so i restarted, pressed "ctrl + I" and it took to me to something that said it was for the setup of a raid disk (or something like that).

I thought, "Oh, this must be where you format the new hard drive so that it will be recognised."

So i went through a very simple menu that had me select stripe size and some other features that looked very basic an un-threatening, and then finished the RAID setup thing.

I restarted the computer, and now it says:

DISK BOOT FAILURE; INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

At that point i had a heart attack. Can anybody help me? I have no idea what is going on.

I had Windows XP Home installed on my C drive.
I purchased Vista Home Premium and when I installed it on my 500 Gig Drive--
The "System(s)" automatically made a partition of about 100gigs -leaving XP Home OS as Drive E: and My new Vista install went on Drive C:
And Voila! It ("System(s)" ) also constructed a Dual Boot Selection for me!

I have recently bought Windows XP PROFESSIONAL to Upgrade(Home) and proposed to install XP Pro on
Drive E:

I First got a message that the copy I have is already "newer" than the one I'm trying to Install.
I let this fly by and then I got Question: "Would YOU like to select the Partition and Drive Letter for this Install? Naturally I ticked BOTH Options (YES)

As the 56 minute install was into 10-12 minutes I got an Warning error that the (Install) CAB on Drive C was going into an Error state.

I REALLY don't want to mess with drive C: AT ALL --as I've installed the Windows 7 Candidate Release OVER the VISTA OS on Drive C

Can anyone help me out here ?

A:"Would YOU like to select the Partition and Drive Letter for this Install?"

Well firstly if you want to upgrade your XP Home install make sure you run the XP Pro setup from XP HOME!! Then it should tell you that your current OS is older than the one on disk, and offer you the option to upgrade.

NB: When you boot into XP you should notice that the drive letters will be different (usually the current system drive is associated to C:- so in XP, your XP part will be C, but in Vista/7 your vista part will instead be labled C:).

As long as you've booted into XP, and run the upgrade setup from there you shouldn't encounter any problems, and it shouldn't touch your Vista partition.

The only issue you may find is that the XP Pro setup might re-write your boot selector with the old legacy one used back in XP, so you wont be able to boot into Vista/7, but that can be fixed by either using EasyBCD in XP to restore the BCD boot manager, or by booting your PC from the Vista/7 disc and selecting the option to repair startup issues.

Heya. Windows7 recently popped up saying it was installing a Disk Drive, only problem is that I hadn't plugged anything in. Now in the device manage an Unknown device is listed.

Does anyone know of anything that could cause this and if there's any way to remove it?

A:Windows trying to install a "Disk Drive" I never plugged in.

Hello nums. Welcome to the Forum.

Things that can usually causes that is a device that is part of your system that does not have proper Plug-and-Play capabilities and does not have the correct driver installed for it, or a phantom device that was not removed from the system properly.

But before anyone here can begin to think about what it could be we will need to know what we are working with. Could you fill out your "My System Specs" under your forum profile for us? Include somewhere whether this is a laptop or desktop and don't forget to mention any connected devices or peripherals on your system.
That will help us help you.

I have two hard drives, one I use for my operating system and programs/games that are installed(an 80gb), and another I use to store my music, game updates, software installs, ebooks etc(a 200gb). After doing a clean install of Windows XP Pro on the 80gb HDD, I found that my spare hard drive was no longer readable, as if it didn't have a file system(RAW). My previous file system that I was using was NTFS. I've done previous re-installs with no problem. Any suggestions on what I can do? I've tried to view the files with PC Inspector File Recovery but can't see the root, I can only see deleted files, which are useless to me. I know the data is still there because I haven't written over it and haven't formatted the drive. I don't want to give up on all the files on there(close to 150gb).

Marshall

A:Spare drive is now "RAW" after XP Pro Clean Install

Did you re-install WinXP with both hard drives connected? If so, it's possible that you accidentally deleted the partition. It doesn't sound like you formatted it, because data has been recovered. If you deleted the partition, then the cache may be lost too, therefore Windows can't find anything to display as its contents. A data recovery program or professional may be your only way out.

I am not sure what else could cause this, unless it is a rare case of hard drive incompatability with the motherboard. I doubt this is the case, because you mentioned that you have done previous installs successfully. Check your jumper settings on the back of the drives if there is a possibility they may have been tampered with between o.s. installs. Not sure why they would have been, but who knows?

Good Luck!

There are a number of things you can do.

The simplest is to just move your documents onto the other disk and include the folder created in the documents library.

Slightly more complicated you can follow this tutorial to move the default MyDocuments location. User Folders - Change Default Location

When it came up with the partition prompt, I formatted the partitions (there were two) and then deleted the partitions and made it all unallocated space. Should I put one partition on first? Thanks in advance!

A:How do I "install Windows on the drive from which it boots"?

You may want to check if you have a hidden 200MB partition that Windows 7 will create if installed onto a clean un-partitioned drive - it sounds as if this may be the case.

If this is so then creating a primary partition and installing windows 7 there should get passed the issue you are seeing.

there are several threads relating to the 200MB partition on the forums if you need further information

I recently purchased a T3620, and I tried to replace the original one (NVidia Quadro K2200) with  low end one - NVidia nvs 295. I found I cannot get video output after power on. I put the K2200 back and it works again. I tried other old cards and none work. The cards are confirmed to be working themselves on other machines.

So  the question is: It now seems that T3620 can only use the cards in the configuration list. But why T3620 cannot use other cards fitting the same spec -- PCIE 2.0 x16, no extra power supply?  If I recall the old Dell workstations, they can use all kind of video cards, as long as interface is compatible. Is there white list in the BIOS to prevent other type of video card to start?

Described here. I have a problem with finishing work on "unknown device". For a moment, after installing from the DELL (www.dell.com/.../advanced) driver "ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver ", file DRVR_WIN_R309372.EXE Device Manager has stopped showing that there is an" unknown device "in the configuration. After updating to "ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver", the Chipset_Driver_RCHTX_WN_2.00.10.34_A11.EXE file, from the same DELL page, again appeared in the configuration unknown device.
I decided to remove the ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver from the system via the Control Panel to install only DRVR_WIN_R309372.EXE. Unfortunately, the installation can not be resumed, the message "Found incompatible installation of, Version. Please uninstall it via Control Panel Add / Remove Programs before installing this version of Accelerometer". The problem is that Control Panel no longer shows this application. Suspecting that there were some traces left after the previous installation, I tried to remove them from the File Manager and also edited the registry. In the registry I searched for: "R309372", "RCHTX", "Microelectronics", "AccelerometerP11". I deleted the entries containing the above characters. I would be grateful for directional guidance on how to proceed further. I am using Windows 10 64 bit Dell Precision M4500.

I recently puchased a new M4800 with an i7 quad, and a Firepro m5100 GPU. So far i have been rather satisfied with the purchase as it does everything i need it to do. However there are some quirks that are preventing it from being 100% :
When I run the descrete only card, the windows 7 log in has lag such that unless i move the cursor the screen does not update : you can type things in and no ****** symbols display in the password box. If you move the mouse constantly when you type the ***** does display in real time ? its a really odd sort of lag i have never experianced before in my life.
This does not happen with the integrated card. HOWEVER, the computer will not dynamically switch between the Intel and the AMD gpu (amd Enduro/ power express) as advirtized. When running in switchable graphics mode the global settings dropdowns are 100% blank in the CCC panel.
If you set it manually per application basis : it either does one of two things :
1) most games seem to launch fine, though monitoring it with RTSS indicates its running on the intel HD GPU, and the performance decreases substantially in reflection of this...
or 2) launching professional software like Cheif Archetect x6, or SolidWorks2014 causes the display to hang, fans to cut off and the computer wont do anything till a hard reboot via the power button.
*I have dissabled the inegrated GPU in bios and only run the AMD card as a work around. Is there a fix for this other than to ignore the Intel card ? Googling ... Read more

A:Precision M4800 : Input lag at log in, Switchable graphics not functioning, GPU fan "chirping" when it starts up.

My personal experience was a long and trying one.  First they sent a tech to replace the graphics card with another Firepro.  Did not make a difference.  Then they had tech replace motherboard.  No difference.  So I insisted on a new m4800 with the nVidia processor.  That's how I got mine.  BUT, I would think if you pushed, maybe they could send a tech to switch out your graphics card.  Or at least send you a different model (for which you will obviously need a different driver) and then you could install or take to a repair tech.
For what it's worth, Dell knows they have an issue with this hardware configuration and I was told they had elevated the issue to their senior engineers.

I have big trouble with my two units of Dell Precision 7510. I want to disable "Switchable graphics", because some OS do not support two graphics simultaneously. So, I have unchecked "Switchable graphics" in the BIOS settings, restarted and... display is gone. Notebook is working (system is booting in the background), display is back lighted, but nothing appears on the display. I have checked BIOS 1.10 and 1.20 on two units with identical configuration. I have been checking many times with different BIOS configurations. Always disabling "Switchable gprahics" makes system unusable.
In fact, I have successfully booted up one or two times with "Switchable graphics" BIOS option disabled. In that case the Intel P530 graphic card was disabled totally and AMD FirePro was running perfectly all uptime. Unfortunately, it was one or two times. 99,9% attempts were unsuccessful. When I disable "Switchable graphics" and restart, I get without-signal display. The only solution is reset BIOS setting to default by removing and putting back the coin battery.
Could anybody confirm that issue? My hardware configuration is Intel i5-6300HQ, AMD FirePro W5170M, 1x16 GB DDR non-ECC and UltraSharp IGZO-Display Ultra HD.

A:BUG REPORT: disable "Switchable graphics" make Dell Precision 7510 unusable

I also have almost the same issue with it. What I found out by now - if energy saving is on, you can let windows start (to the login screen that you don't see), close the display (enable standby), re-activate it, and mostly the display is coming after that. I never had to reset BIOS (v1.20) to make it work again.
As the screen itself is turning on (background led), i think the issue is about the connection from the AMD FirePro W5170M card to the display when switching is enabled. IGP isn't experiencing this issue at all.
What's also part of this issue is, when IGP is disabled, the display is flickering from time to time in Windows (Windows 7 x64). This issue neither changed when I updated the driver, nor was it affected by installing Catalyst.
At last I also saw 10-15% performance differences between the two modes (even if the application was run by the AMD GPU).
Our configuration is Intel i7-6820HQ, AMD FirePro W5170M, 1x16GB non-ECC, also with the UHD Display.
