printing samples of every font

Q: printing samples of every font

I have over 500 fonts. I have to delete at least 200 of them.
I know what should NOT be deleted but, is there a way
to print a sample of EVERY font?
Also, when it comes to deleting, should I delete to a zip disk
or just delete?
I have already backed up every font on a CD-RW disk.
Thank you.... missfuffy

Preferred Solution: printing samples of every font

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: printing samples of every font

You can view and print samples of each font in W2K by going to the C:/Winnt/Fonts folder, (I believe in XP its located in the C:/Windows/Fonts folder.) Just double click on each one to view a sample which you can print by clicking on the print button on the upper right. However, if you have 500 fonts, its probably not worth the time and ink to print all of them. Its probably best just to view them and delete the ones your planning to get rid of by cutting them over onto your zip disk for backup.

I have recently purchased a DELL XPS 420 computer that has Windows Vista. I also have a HP 6240 photo smart printer.

For some unknown reason whenever I print a word document or a page from a web site to font is extremely small. I have tried changing the font size and style but the font still remains small. When the page is displayed on the monitor, the font looks OK.

I'm I doing something wrong? How can I fix this problem?

One of my clients is writing a book using WORD 2002 on a WinXP Home Edition system. Each chapter of his book is a separate Word document. He does not apply any text formatting, not even underlining, bold or italics. The font is set to Times New Roman and the pitch is 12pt.

Pretty basic however, one of the documents seems to printing a different font size than the others. It looks to be Times New Roman but is smaller. I've checked every option I can find on the documents and the printer but everything seems to be identical.

The only differences I can see is that one of the documents prints a markup line on the far left of the page (I'm assuming to show changed text), while the other does not. The other difference is that the page margins are different on the problem document, (line length is shorter). I don't see how either of those options could be at issue however I do know that I don't know everything so I include this information as well.

Any ideas why the difference in printed font sizes? Is there some way to duplicate the properties of a document, similar to the format painter feature available within a document?

Thanks ...weeG

A:Word font changes when printing

It sounds like the "odd" document has "track changes" set "on"

This gives the editing bars, shorter line lengths and can affect the printed output as its expecting to include all the changes in the document out to the right, while maintaining pagination.

Something has to give, and its likely the font size.

Turn track changes off on the document and ensure that the prining options are not set to show them.

Don't know if it will help but a way to enlarge your screenfont is holding down the CTRL and rotating the scroll of the mouse will generate a zoomeffect to your browser. Works also in Word and some other applications.
And under Image (Upper bar) you can resize the fonts as well

Anyone have a solution for this. You are on a webpage with a document you want to print. Let's say it's a killer pasta recipe. But you want to up the font size a notch or two. In IE or Firefox you can use ctrl+ to increase font size, but that only impacts what's on the screen. If you print with ctrl P you still get original font. The only way I know is to cut/past desired text into a dummy email (or Word doc), massage the font as desired, then print. BUT, I'm trying to dumb the process down for a marginally computer literate neighbor. Also, often when I print a given page, it comes out blank except for the peripheral stuff around the edges. That is, the main content of the page is blank like it's got a "print block" enabled. Does such a thing exist where the author does not want the content printed?
Thanks in advance, Eric.

I have Word 2007 & Windows XP, but not everyone in our office has upgraded to 2007 yet.

When accessing a document that was originally created in Word 2003, I am working in "compatibility mode". Everything looks great onscreen, but when I print it out, the font (Times New Roman) seems to be crowded on the page. Example: the word 27th will have the th scrunched on top of the 27; also, a hyphen will be scrunched on top of letters, or even a space will seem to be nonexistent.

I have checked the justification (it's normal left justify), and also tried changing the font to Arial, with no positive effect

Is this a printer problem or a Word 2007 problem? And how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide

A:Solved: Word 2007 font printing problem

Do you have access to a different printer? If so, try to print your document to that printer and see if the samething happens.

If the document prints fine on a different printer, then you can assume that it is a printer issue.

I have been struggling to resolve this issue for the post month or so. The problem is that when trying to print from any program, the program stops responding. Along with this, if I try to select a font in word 2007 is also stops responding. With both issues, I can wait a couple of minutes and the program will start working again, allowing me to print or select a font. The errors that I get in the event log are print spooler errors. What really confuses me is that this has all worked flawlessly since early 2010, and then these issues popped up.

Important info:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 sp1 on the main network computer
One other computer on the network running windows XP sp3.
Epson artisan 810 network printer
2 Samsung ml-1630 printers. One connected to each computer.

What I have tried:
I have updated the drivers for all printers.
Removed and reinstalled all printers.
Set a static IP for the network printer.

Any help would be very appreciated. This is for work and has been a major hang up lately.

May not be much of an answer, but if you've been running your currently installed Win7 system since probably late 2009 (which was also around the time I first installed mine), maybe you're do for a fresh reinstall?

I went about a year on my initial install, and was quite amazed at the remarkable stability and "effective lifetime before a new install was appropriate" of Win7 as compared to earlier Windows versions.

But late in 2010, I decided it was finally ok to eliminate WinXP and that alternative boot partition, and used it as the opportunity to reinstall Win7 from scratch as the proper course of action. Plus, I'd kind of "experimented" during the year trying out various add-ons and then maybe backing them out (perhaps not quite as completely as one would hope). Results of normal day-to-day operation began to exhibit the usual signs of "registry corruption" and odd behavior, similar to what used to trigger the desire to reinstall WinXP say every 6 months... to "clean house".

Then, in around March of 2011, I decided I'd actually like to have WinXP back, and once again took the opportunity to install both WinXP (in a much more leaned-down implementation, just installing the specific applications for what I needed it for) and then Win7 again... Read more

Hey guys,
So I'm wondering If I could get help with getting a font to be used in the system. The font I want to use is this:
(traditional) AR Tianniu B5 - Free Chinese Font - Free Chinese Font

However the font name is in Chinese:
called '最新版心形中文甜妞体智能机专用科'

I'm trying to use this font as a system font on my English Home Premium Windows 7 64-bit.

I've tried changing the fonts the normal way via the 'change window colors and metrice' way in the control panel. However, the font I installed doesn't appear as an option because the font name is in chinese?
I tried to change the font name to English, however it makes the font invalid.
Any help?

Every time I visit a website that offers mp3 sound samples, I get an error when I try to hear them.

For example, visiting a wind chimes website that offers samples of how their products sound. When I click on the "hear a sample" icon, it takes me to another page, with .mp3 at the end of the address, but I get a little exclamation point inside a yellow triangle in the bottom bar and nothing shows up on the page and I don't get to hear the sound.

When I click on the triangle to find out what the problem is, it tells me, "Error: object expected".

I don't remember having this problem before IE updated itself and changed it's format a few weeks ago. I have no problem hearing music embedded in websites, it's just the sound samples with a .mp3 address.

Any idea what the problem is?

A:Why can't I listen to MP3 samples?

What player did you use before? Now?
What version of IE are you using now?
Have you also tried Firefox or another browser?

To play/hear any .mp3 or such sound, a player, such as winamp, realplayer, etc. must be installed, and it must have permission to play such files.

May have to reinstall IE, or at the least check all of the settings.

By posting samples they may be taken and used for nefarious purposes. Which would defeat the main purpose of Bleeping Computer.

Hi Everyone,

I'm a Network Engineer for an IT consulting company in NYC. Recently we've seen the XP/Win7/Vista Antivirus 2012 malware pop up on many of our clients PC's. Most of the PC's I've seen infected are running SEP, so obviously SEP isn't doing anything to stop it.

I'm currently looking for Samples of this Virus that we can use to test several anti malware programs. I'm Currently looking at these three alternatives, to run along side SEP: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-free-realtime-malware-protection-removal-tools/. My supervisor is also interested in learning what the end user is doing to become infected with this virus. As far as I know, there are many infection methods, ranging from email attachments, to website popups that trick the user into running the malware.

Does anyone know of a current scam site that would infect a computer with this virus? Or does anyone know where I can download the actual executable?

If you link a file or site here, please don't make the link clickable, as we don't want people accidently clicking the link.
