I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
My keyboard suddenly stopped working today, i checked the bluetooth connection it was okay but the keyboard wasn't working. Everytime i try to press anything the light over the bluetooth key turns on and off, and the on/off light of the keyboard is always off until i attach it to the screen it stays on for a minute or so and then back off. Also tried pressing the bluetooth key for a bit longer it starts lighting on and off but the keyboard doesn't actually work.

I have searched across this site and other forums and have yet to find a solid answer to this question even though numerous users are having the same issue. This keyboard has worked fine for me for about two years, but now all of a sudden it will not hold a charge. Even after turning the keyboard off, plugging into the tablet for 24 hours, and then turning back on, the keyboard only works for about five minutes. I can only assume that this is an issue with the power going from the tablet to the keyboard, but when trying to update any drivers related to batteries or the keyboard it says I already have the latest driver. Please help because I'm essentially stuck with only using a tablet for a computer as of right now.Read other answers

Had an issue with my detachable keyboard losing bluetooth connection. I then noticed when I would lose this connection and go to the device manager the bluetooth adapter would not show up. This drove me nuts because it was not always happening at any specific time but randomly. I would have to reboot a couple of times for it to come back then all would be good until the next time. After almost two months of this I started to catch on that it would mainly do this when I was on battery power and when I hooked up to the power cord and reboot all would be fine. I finally found the resolution on a Lenovo web site that has cured this issue. Haven't lost connection yet and I have even tried to make it lose connection short of shutting it off. 1) Go to the Device Manager (Windows key + X)2) Select Bluetooth and right click on your Bluetooth adapter (mine was Intel Wireless Bluetooth (R) 4.0).3) Select Power Management tab.4) Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off device to save Power."5) Click on OK I tried finding this on the hp.com site but never did so it would be nice if they would post it because I am sure others are having this issue on battery power. Mine would almost instantly lose connection as soon as I unplugged from power and went to battery power so no doubt I am not the only one with this issue.
Nice catch. I'll confirm if this option is already unchecked in my HP Envy x2 15t that HP has provided me as product loan. I don't have the bluetooth problem you're facing though. Kind regards VisruthRead other 9 answers

Hello, The bluetooth keyboard supplied with the laptop has stopped charging and is now dead. Bluetooth settings confirms that the keyboard is not present to be paired. The keyboard is connected to the base of the computer for charging. The switch on the keyboard is set to the left (green/on). There is no indication of charge etc from the charging light. There is no light from F12 (bluetooth) button when pressed for the required 3 seconds. Please advise something other than return to vendor as this is not possible due to location. Regards, GP WATSON.

I've noticed the back of the laptop heating up for the past year, and usually place the screen section on a USB-powered fan platform to reduce the heat. When I put it to "sleep" I then turn off the AC power. I've been able to run it without AC power for 2-4 hrs on numerous occasions. However, about a week ago when I tried to resume from "sleep" before turning on ACpower, the CPU suddenly turned off. At the time I was using an external USB modem which was plugged in. So I turned on the AC power, and restarted the laptop. That happened a few times, and at least twice I saw a brief message on screen saying the battery level was below 3%, so CPU was turning off. Usually in sleep mode battery storage would not drop below 93%. In the past week the battery has stopped charging. (Last night it said the battery level was 0%; all day today it shows 83%.) So I have to use the ACpower to keep the laptop running.HP Battery check today produced the following results:Warranty Type: 3Cycle count: 187 / 1000Manufacturer: 331CBattery Age: 780 daysSerial Number: 02255 2014/09/30Temperature: 36 °CDesign Capacity: 4580 mAhFull Charge Capacity: 3818 mAh (83%)Remaining Capacity: 3193 mAhCurrent: 0 mATerminal Voltage: 8254 mVDesign Voltage: 7600 mVCell Voltage 1: 4127 mVCell Voltage 2: 4127 mVCell Voltage 3: 0 mVCell Voltage 4: 0 mVStatus: 82AC Power: YesCT Number: 6EJHQ03WY7J48YFailure ID: MAHW60-000000-MFGH6K-C0E103 I'm instructed to replace the batter... Hello HP Team & Community, I've been using this laptop for about half a year now, never had a problem with the detachable keyboard before. I think it was even charging correctly before when I first installed Ubuntu on the machine. After that, I started trying out differet Linux OS's but came back to Ubuntu in the end. My issue is that the keyboard is not charging anymore, rendering it useless. I attach it to the laptop but the little orange light doesn't come on. I've looked over some other issues regarding the keyboard not working, the replies from the HP Team varied, and none of them specifically addressed Linux users having the issue... My guess is that I'm missing a driver for the keyboard... Is there any way to confirm this? Does HP have an Ubuntu equivalent of the HP Assistant? I'd really like to start using the keyboard again. I already tried asking at askubuntu.com - I received no answers. Hopefully, I'll find better luck here.Read other answers

Hello. I've owned my HP notebook for just over 2 years and it has suddenly stopped working. I noticed yesterday that the battery was running low, despite being plugged in to the charger. I've removed the battery and had the charger tested - which works. I went to turn the notebook on today (knowing there was a good hour of charge left), after putting it to sleep yesterday, and now it won't turn on at all. It is worth pointing out that I have noticed a screw missing from the top left of the underside of the notebook (near the charger port). After some time, this has caused part of the plastic cover underneath to crack and pull away from the keyboard part. It is usually made worse when I open the laptop, but I just push it back together after. What might have happened and what can I do to get my laptop working again? Thanks for any help.Read other answers

Hi, I?m new to the forum and not really a computer ceek.
I got following problem, my hdd partition C on my HP Envy notebook is destroyed, the notebook has an recovery partition d which is also 500MB, how can I recover my personal data on the destroyed C? Is there the same data on the D like on the C?
The arms on the C are destroyed I guess everything else is working. I was thinking to get the same hdd drive and swap either the (double platters or the heads) but if I can do it differently I will refrain from taking the hdd apart.
Thanks for the help.
Hi el condor,
Welcome to the SevenForums.
From what you have said I understand the HDD had suffered physical damage with a head crash. How did you decide that?
In such a case the HDD is a write-off and you cannot do a DIY.
If you want to do a data recovery in a physically damaged drive, you have to approach a professional data recovery service but it will cost you a bomb with unpredictable end results.
My honest advice would be to replace the hard drive. If you had made the recovery CDs, you can reinstall the factory installation.
If not you may have to do a clean install of the same Edition Windows that came preinstalled and use the COA key on the sticker of your HP Envy to activate it.
And if your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP Technical Support for the required service.
Hello all, A few days ago I received a brand new HP Envy that I purchased directly from HP. I have discovered that it has what appears to be one dead pixel in the monitor. I say "what appears to be" because upon very close inspection it looks like maybe an adjacent pixel is not as bright as it should be. Or perhaps this is just a trick of the light, the "deadness" of the one dead pixel creeping over and influencing how the adjacent pixel is perceived? If I had to bet my life on it I'd say it is just a single dead pixel... but the point is that it may be two. Apparently this is important because if two pixels next to each other are defective, then my warranty would allow me to exchange the computer for a new one (correct?), whereas if it's just a single dead pixel then the warranty wouldn't cover it. BUT is it also possible that I could return it anyway, since it's a brand new computer that arrived with the defect? I have looked online and in some places the internet pundits make it seem as if HP will allow returns for whatever reason as long as they are initiated within 21 days. All of that being said, if anyone can tell me what my options are, I would very much appreciate it. I enjoy the computer very much so far, but this dead pixel(s) thing does bug me slightly.

Hello,Hoping someone can help me identify the reason my laptop had died.My HP Envy 15 series laptop died unexpectedly a few months out of warranty. The battery had completely run out so the machine turned off. I plugged it back in the next day and got no response at all - no sound, no charging lights, etc. It's completely non-responsive.I had previously had an error message pop up saying the adapter type wasn't recognised, but I ignored it as had bought directly from HP and assumed it must be a glitch.I bought a replacement adapter but it's not made a difference. Before I spend more money on a replacement battery, I was hoping someone can tell me a way to check if that's the problem. Thanks in advanceRead other answers
I read the posting of someone who was having similar problems, but there was no sure answer. I think I have come closer to figuring out the trigger, now if someone can help me pin it down, then figure out how to fix it next time it happens. I believe that somehow the bottom of my hand is hitting a combination of keys in the lower left corner of my keyboard and it is disabling my keyboard(maybe alt or ctrl + something else). I'd like to figure out what I'm hitting and how to undo it. The only way I know how to correct it at this time is to reboot. Any ideas?
Nothing you do would make it go dead besides it just wearing out, fluids spilled on it, plug on back of the computer loose, cord bad, etc. Pressing keys would not do it. Keyboards are kinda made for the keys to be pressed without the keyboard going dead unless it goes bad.
Hello everyone, new here and hope I can get some help. Ive looked around here a bit and searched some but without much luck.
I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with windows XP (still under warranty) that has been very problematic.
The last few months have presented a whole slew of problems, so to keep it short i have reinstalled windows, started fresh and have used adaware, spybot and avg to get rid of a whole bunch of viruses and spyware.
Now, the keyboard won't work. It went from working, to spitting out dashes, equal signs and smilies and bringing up the help window for whatever program i am running, to simply nothing.
As far as i can tell all the software and drivers are up to date, and there appear to be no other problems
Its never been dropped, HOWEVER, a couple months ago (yes i know i sound like an idiot) i got a little big of orange juice on the keyboard...the start of the problems (many of which in the beginning i left out). Cleaning the keyboard seemed to work for some time, but recently its been acting up again.
during startup there is a lot of beeping, similar to what would result from a stuck key, but no keys appear to be stuck, and the computer seems to recognize the keyboard as fully functioning.
I hope I gave you all the info you need, and i appreciate any insight you can provide,
thanks in advance

A new fairly new HP laptop, and a couple of times recently when I leave it for a while and it goes into hibernation, when I come back to it everything opens fine and I can move around to where I want to go, but when I try to type, the keyboard is dead!! Nothing!! Screen is fine, mouse works, touch pad works but the keys are dead!! I've tried everything I know but it is simply dead!! Only thing I have found that will get it back into operation is to shut down and re-boot. This is time consuming and really aggravating!! I even tried a "System Restore" to date before it happened the first time. No help.
Any ideas on what causes this or how to prevent it will be appreciated. It's not consistent, so I hesitate to take it back to the store until I can reproduce it.

Pressing random keystrokes won't screw up a keyboard. In windows, certain keystrokes can turn on windows sticky keys. To turn this feature off ctrl+alt+shift keys, or go to the control panel in the accessabilities options and unclick sticky keys option.
Usually while surfing the web with my mouse, the keyboard goes dead. It does not work on or off the internet until I totally shut down and reboot. This did happen once while using my word processor. Restarting the computer doesn't help, only when completely shut down and then reboot will the keyboard work again. I have tried 2 different (new) keyboards, and the problem persists. All connections are solid.

Good move with second keyboard, my first thought.
How about the driver. If you the 95 setup disk, Go to device manager and remove driver and reboot. Windows will detect new key board and you will be prompted to insert win 95 disk.

The desktop was behaving fine last night, and this morning, the keyboard appears to be dead. No lights glowing on it. I don't recall the connection in the back if it is USB or ??
Could it be mechanical or should I try a System Restore to yesterday or ??

Fantastic, I have been running wn2k with no down time 4 a year and just when I need most, silly me decides to find out why some of those extra "helpful" net/media buttons on my cheap keyboard by asking 2K for the appropriate driver.
It warns me but I say OK and restart and POOF! no mouse or keyboard. Locked out. No kersor and I cant even press caps locked to show lite. (both work fine in my 2nd partition under 98)
The driver I picked was just the Micsoft enhanced (similar) kB I think.
Have tried Safe mode, Last Settings saved, Nope!
Tried dif keyboard, as you do, and no change.
Have read a couple of dif posts some saying remove Bios Battery for 5mins, others saying boot in DOS and bla bla...Im no good in DOS. (willing to keep trying)
Alot of the posts also say Logitec mouse was problem but dont have 1.
Can anyone direct me to something they may remember in this field.
Or can someone explain how I might fix using 98???????
Much appriciated, urgent work to finish.
