The all-in-one security app for your smartphone

Q: The all-in-one security app for your smartphone

No one likes the thought that a mugging, car accident or other emergency can happen to them. Unfortunately, everyone runs into scary moments at some point in their life.

That's why ICE BlackBox is a must-have app. It's like a personal security system built right into your Android or Apple smartphone. It's got plenty of useful features and is easy to use in high-stress situations.

In case of an emergency, tap a button and ICE BlackBox streams video, audio and GPS location information to a secure server. Whether you're the victim of domestic abuse, a car accident or theft, you can collect valuable evidence to send to the police.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Mobile spyware has become increasingly more ubiquitous in corporate networks and devices. In a 2017 study, Check Point has found that out of the 850 organizations that they queried, 100% had experienced a mobile malware attack at least once in the past.

To date, most cybersecurity companies have focused either on software-only or built-in hardware solutions as a way of fighting back against these threats. While some of these solutions have proven to be effective, I want to propose that the next generation of mobile security will be primarily based on hardware rather than software solutions.

In the following article, I will go over the kinds of advantages that hybrid hardware isolation can have for combatting smartphone attacks and vulnerabilities. If you create a low-power, highly flexible, hardware-isolated computational and storage container that isolates data inside the host architecture, you can secure data and processes independently of the host?s operating system or networking protocol and make them virtually impervious to attack; an innovation that will change cybersecurity as we know it today.

Identifying existing security threats
In a Frost & Sullivan security analysis, Frank Dickson points to the key problem of identifying mobile threats: ?Identifying a true threat can be difficult when malicious apps blur the lines between useful features and excessive or exploitative functionality.? Cyber-Psychology: Security, Bullying, & Smartphone Withdrawal:

The social psychology of cybersecurity:

John McAlaney, Helen Thackray and Jacqui Taylor consider motivations for hacking, and how the problem is best addressed...

Despite the intrinsically psychological nature of many cybersecurity attacks, research into the role of psychology in cybersecurity is still limited. Indeed, even research into social engineering is often conducted from the discipline of computing rather than social psychology.

The need for a social psychological approach is also suggested by the fact that large-scale cybersecurity incidents ? stemming from motivations as varied as financial gain and political/ideological protest ? are often instigated by groups, as opposed to individuals acting alone.

Impression management and social identity-
A characteristic of hacktivist groups and cyberattackers is the mystery around the identity of their members and the actual reach or capabilities of the group. This is of course necessary in some cases so that individuals can avoid being identified by law enforcement agencies, but many of these groups have become adept at brand management for the promotion of themselves and their cause. Anonymous have become particularly known for the Guy Fawkes mask, taken from a graphic novel on which the film V for Vendetta was based. This symbol has bec... Read more

A:Which is the best smartphone to buy?

The Galaxy S4 is basically equivalent to the HTC One. The HTC One though, has a better camera and has an aluminum shell. The S4 has a more mediocre camera and a plastic shell (cheaper build quality). They both have basically the same screen. I own an iPhone 5 and love it. The OS is just becoming stale though, and Android (on the S4 and HTC One) is more for power users. iOS (iPhone) is geared more toward rookies who dont know what they are doing since it is so simple. I would take the Xperia Z off of your list since it doesnt match up.

Check out TechSpots' reviews on all three phones:
Galaxy S4: http://www.techspot.com/review/664-samsung-galaxy-s4/
HTC One: http://www.techspot.com/products/smartphones/htc-one.87473/ (I cannot find a full review on TS and posting another sites review would be considered kind of bias)

I have recently gotten a new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. I've never had one before. So, I'm trying to figure out how to use it so that I don't accidentally get charge for something not necessarily bad as much as like "accidentally banging your finger with a hammer". Right now, it appears to automatically access the Wi-Fi when it's in range and I'm installing free apps. Will I need to keep an eye on that so that it doesn't download apps (or additional app data) via a cell tower? (I did find a setting called "Wi-Fi Calling Settings" under which I can select Wi-Fi Prefered, Wi-Fi Only, Cellular Prefered.) There's, also, a gps on mine. I've found Google Maps, Google Latitude, Navigation, and TeleNav GPS Navigating that can use the gps in one way or another. How far into those programs can I use the gps before I start getting charged for data usage? Is there anything else I need to be careful of so that I don't end up surprised at the end of the billing cycle?

I setup and connected VPN connection through my smartphone to my home computer, but I don't know how to get access to files via my smartphone through VPN Connection. Do I use my smartphone internet explorer to access my home computer files or how?

Regard,
Thanks.

A:How to use VPN connection on a smartphone?

What application are you using to establish the VPN connection? A VPN connection should allow a remote device outside the LAN act as if it was and should be able to access resources limited only to that LAN the same way as if it was connected to it.

Just a couple of questions to help us give you the best support:

What phone are you using and what OS does it have (Android, iOS... etc? )

What VPN application are you using on the server to initiate the remote connection?

What is the OS of the home computer you wish to access and is there a shared folder set? If so what are the sharing permissions applied?

Don't worry if you can't answer all the questions, we will do our best with the information provided

I am replacing my smartphone and need to sync them both together to be able to copy the photos, phone numbers etc. from one smartphone to the other. How do I do this? The makes of each of the two smartphones are Ideos.

Can it be done easily or does it involve sophisticated software?

A:Syncing smartphone

Are these Android phones? If so, your contact info should be synced to your Gmail account. Log into the new phone with the same account and that should be copied over. To move pictures, you'll need to upload them to a service or connect your phone to your computer and copy them over.

If the pictures are important, you should have a backup anyway. A smartphone is just a pocket-sized computer. It can crash, fail, etc. and has the added bonus of being easily lost or dropped.

What I'd like to know, please, is it possible to load the Android OS onto the phone?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi 7forums!
I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed on my laptop(from factory). Till few days ago, I could turn it into Hotspot via the stock Hotspot app & used to connect my android smartphone for normal wifi file transfers. But now that app by which I used to create hotspot is missing somehow(coz I can't find it installed apps). So, I give a try to other hotspot creators(virtual hotspot, Wifi hotspot creator setup, etc)... None of them worked. So, I created ad-hoc but soon learned that android phones don't connect to ad-hoc networks. An app called "mHotspot" shows even a problem with my drivers & asked to restore it but in vain. At last...I searched the net about file sharing methods but most of them state that phone must be connected to computer.

My laptop only has essential softwares by factory & I haven't modified any of 'em.

So please if u have that stock hotspot app(black-ish background with only two options: SSID & Password & Start button), kindly share it here.

Please help me to create wifi hotspot on my laptop so that I can connect my phone the usual way like before:crying:

Thanks in advance...

You don't need the Samsung bloatware KIES to access the data on the device. Remove this software and just plug the smartphone, Windows will automatically install the MTP drivers (provided the device is in MTP mode, NOT in image/KIES mode).

Hi all

I have developed an Engineering Software App for SmartPhones and am expecting to receive big orders soon.

I will make the software available (a) as a download, (b) on the various online app stores and (c) I will sell the software pre-bundled onto the actual SmartPhone Device and ship to clients.

Question: As opposed to buying off the shelf SmartPhones wrt case (c) above, I'd be very interested in being connected to actual Smartphone Manufacturers (People with an actual Manufacturing factory - Not a wholesaler).

I'd be looking for Real Factory Based Manufacturers who could:

(1) Make a phone specifically for my customers. The main thing here would be to have a unique looking exterior even if they base the phone on the chassis and interior of an existing phone.
(2) Handle all the Hardware Registration and Licencing Procedures. I would not want to go through the trouble of having the hardware tested and approved for usage.
(3) Provide proof that all Hardware is legal for usage internationally
(4) Work with me to ensure that my Software is embedded onto the Device Software such that even a Hard Reset of the Device will NOT remove my software.

Google searches for SmartPhone Manufacturers always throws up SmartPhone Wholesalers, Alibaba, etc. I do not wish to deal with such. I will only deal with an actual SmartPhone Factory.

Appreciate any and all introductions to above.

Thanks. Tony.

Given the wide diversity of data connections people get on their smartphones, I was wondering if developers who know they will download apps, images, movies, etc to phones have any guidelines or website forums specifically addressing considerations like:
what's the largest file you should attempt to download?
what considerations are there for servers used for downloading?
Are there various protocols that are better/worse for performing large downloads? or,
do different hosting services use different time-out parameters that would cause large downloads to fail?
I'm OK if you point me elsewhere or engage on one of more of these specific issues.

I just had my hard drive reimaged with Windows 7. When I plug my smartphone into the USB port, I hear the bong/bong that it was plugged in, and I even get the window saying that it's installing drivers. But when I go to Windows Explorer, I don't see it as plugged in. I've tried numerous "solutions" online, but nothing has worked.

I just looked in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" is there with a yellow triangle and exclamation mark in it. Although I right-click it and update - or uninstall, then scan for hardware changes - neither works.

How can I get my computer to recognize this smartphone?

Addendum: I deleted everything related to Apple, including Bonjour, Quicktime, and iTunes, then tried to reinstall iTunes since I thought that it would install the necessary drivers. It succeeded until the very end, when I got this error:

The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.

I'm at a complete loss. Not only does iTunes not install, but my Windows 7 computer doesn't even recognize my smartphone when I plug it in.

I am having an annoying and frequent problem with firefox loading websites using smartphone layout. Roughly 30% of the time it will load a page with full screen width images and text that spans the entire screen.
Reloading will sometimes bring it back to normal browser window display, other times it takes several reloads to get it right.

I'd reset the FF User Agent to default and delete the cache, if it still happens even after a force-refresh, look for a Desktop link, there's often one at the bottom of the page.

If it persists and you're sure your User Agent is at default and you're sure aren't blocking correct browser capabilities detection with an extension, report it to the site owners.

My girlfriend just got a Motorola Triumph today, with Virgin Mobile as the carrier. Since we're in a bad spot for internet connectivity with Virgin Mobile's network, we decided to try connecting the phone to our wireless router. The phone connected just fine, but when we tried to go to any websites, it kept saying it couldn't connect to the site. We've tried restarting the phone and reactivating it, as well as turning airplane mode on and off as I have seen working on a few other forums. The 3G works all right as long as we don't wander in to any bad spots, but the wifi refuses to work at all. My dad also has a Blackberry through Sprint I think, and that also refuses to work with our wireless routers. We have two routers, both set to open, so it's not an issue of the wrong password or anything. Laptops can connect wirelessly just fine. SSID broadcast for the routers is turned on. We've tried restarting the routers as well. The two routers are a Linksys and a Belkin (unsure of the models at the moment). If anyone has any ideas to try or any advice to offer, it would be much appreciated. If any more information is needed, I'll be happy to provide it as soon as I can. Thanks in advance!

is there a way to know exactly what was downloaded in that period?! Crazy!

does your phone support wifi? Do you have a wireless card built into the laptop, as well as an ethernet connection to create a bridge?

Acer 5738Z running Win 7 64 bit

New XiaoMi Rednote 3 smartphone

Plug phone into USB the first time and a driver is loaded and everything works fine

Reboot laptop and plug in phone - laptop makes bingbong noise as if it recognises the phone but the phone does not appear in My Computer.

Check Device Manager - the phone is shown but with a warning triangle.

Driver gives the message "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"

The only way to make it work is to uninstall the device and reinstall the driver.

I've tried a motherboard reset to no avail

Guidance welcome

We need to know the manufacturer and model for your phone to provide detailed help.

On my Samsung phone I needed to open Settings, then enable WiFi (it is off by default), select my SSID, then choose the encryption type and enter the passphrase.

I need to export or otherwise copy my contacts from my smartphone to my desktop PC, but can't figure out how to do it..

My smartphone used to sync with the office Exchange Server, but ideally I now want to sync my Outlook contacts with my home PC using standalone Outlook 2003. My PC runs XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5. Smartphone is Windows Mobile 6 Standard.

It looks as if I cannot sync Exchage Server contacts to standalone Outlook - if I try to switch to synching with Outlook it tells me the contacts on my phone will be deleted. Is there a safe way of doing this? I would rather retype all my contacts from the phone screen than risk losing them - I can no longer access my former office's Exchange Server.

If I can't use ActiveSync, is there a way of exporting contacts in bulk from Outlook on Windows Mobile?

Thanks for any help - Firepig

I see that Tigertext now has Secure paging:
http://www.fiercetelecom.com/press-...age-21st-century-pager-replacement-physicians
Basically they run it through their secure text messaging network, so you get a pager number and people and page you on it.
It seems that they made it for doctors, but I was wondering if it really has a place outside the medical industry.
I wonder if the pages can be set to auto delete like their text messages, so there is no record of the page on the phone?
Is paging of value to people who arent doctors?
