Q: No Display Device Information.

My computer don't seem to have any Display Device/Driver properly working, and i don't know how to fix it please, help. :(

Preferred Solution: No Display Device Information.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am tring to implement "Device Metadata" for Win7. But after installing the devicemetadata-ms file, there is nothing changed in Devices and Printers folder. I am considering buying HP Pavilion laptop from Best Buy. Model number is 15-bc018ca. Since this laptop will be used for photo editing, I have been trying find information about the color accuracy, sRGB rating, etc. However I am unable to find any information on this specific model. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can find this information?Maybe if someone knew the type of monitor this model has (or how to find it), then I could find more info online. Or if someone knew of other models with the same monitor, I could find relevant reviews. The only monitor description I was able to find was:39.6 cm (15.6") diagonal FHD IPS UWVA WLED-backlit multitouch-enabled edge-to-edge glass (1920 x 1080)Any assistance or direction provided will be appreciated.Thanks.

I am reasonably OK diagnosing hardware etc but I have never really used a graphics card Display Port as the primary display port on a PC. I have 11 PCs setup in a network at work, all running Windows 7, they all work absolutely fine apart from sometimes when they go to sleep / screen turns off when not in use, I can not get the screen back on!

When this happens the screens etc go off as expected and normally, movement of the mouse or touching the keyboard will 'wake the machines up' however, sometimes the screen doesn't come back on. It remains with a 'No Signal' warning box for all inputs (DVI / HDMI and Display Port). The towers are connected via the Display Port only, anyone come across this before?

I haev another similar setup in another office, using the same / very similar HP machines which have the displayed connected via DVI and have never had the problem with those machines.

Any thoughts, ideas, information, links etc that would be useful would be appreciated before I raise this with our I.T. people (who are not very helpful sometimes, hence why I like to have an bit of an idea of the possible issue before I contact them).

I can find information from people that have asked the questions and had similar problems on other forums, just wondering if anyone had a more technical reason rather than 'it happens' haha.

Thanks in advance.

Tanis (Shane)

A:Display Port Questions / Information

I'd look at driver updates for the graphics card(from HP first, then from the GPU manufacturer), a firmware/BIOS update for the graphics card if available from HP if it's an add-in card, or a BIOS update for the system/motherboard.

Hi All

I currently have my users Desktops locked to a particular Wallpaper as per company standards, but what I would like to do is have some dynamic information displayed on this wallpaper aswell.

The first 2 items would be the Users Computer name and IP address, the last peace of information would be dynamic, basically I would update a text file on the network and the desktop info part would change according to what I put in the text file.

Is this possible and if so what is the best way to do this?

Try this........
To restore the registry
Open Registry Editor.
Click Options, and then click Print to print these instructions. (If you are using the Help and Support Center, click Print above the topic area.) They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.
Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
In the list, click Restart, and then click OK.
When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.

Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.

To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, Windows restores information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet only. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.

If you look at drive properties in the device manager, there is a 'Details' tab with a property called "Location information". It specifies Bus Number, Target ID, and LUN for the hard drive.

I have several drives and I was curious about the physical properties so I made a little diagram starting from the Device manager and cutting and pasting various other infos.

I was curious to see that I had two 'Bus Number 0' in my system - One for the JMicron drive port and one for the Marvell drive port.

Is this normal?

Hello scissorgal54

The Microsoft version of your exact error -
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. To fix this problem you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device. (Code 19)

If the device is a CD or DVD drive, follow the procedure in Article ID 929461 on the Microsoft Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=192798).
• Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration. This rolls back to the most recent successful registry configuration.

I deal with confidential and classified information. I am aware that simply deleting a file from your computer is not sufficient to remove it completely and have software to erase data as permanently as possible (Eraser 6.0.8 - using the Gutmann eraser method of 35 passes of random and patterned data). I believe this to be sufficient.

What I want to know is how data on an external storage source is managed by a computer when it is not copied to the hard drive. What information is stored and is therefore recoverable?

For example, if I have a picture file on a CD or external hard disc and open it using MS Image viewer (without copying it onto the local hdd) is an image retained in a temporary file somewhere that might be recoverable?

If I simply open up a folder (again on an external storage source) to view the contents in Win Explorer, is a temporary thumbnail log, or filename list, stored on the local hdd somewhere and therefore recoverable?

Is it a different situation with running videos?

If I do a direct burn of files to CD from an external hdd, are the files cached somewhere and again recoverable?

Is opening up a text file in Word a similar issue - I know the filename is stored in the recently opened list, but what other info is recoverable?

etc, etc, I want to know the risks I am exposing myself to so I can manage them accordingly. How do I manage these files on a computer not part of a secured network or should I not bother? I'm not planning on losing my l... Read more

We recently try to deploy a GPO on our network to show previous logons during user logon. The setting is located in Computer Configuration| Policies | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Logon Options | Display information about previous logons during user logon = Enabled. Our domain level is set to Windows Server 2008. I verified that it is Windows Server 2008 on Domain and Trust.

Here is the article about this setting

Active Directory Domain Services: Last Interactive Logon

But after we deploy the setting, we are no longer able to login to any of our windows 7 machines. All of them got an error message said : ?Security policies on this computer are set to display information about the last interactive logon. Windows could not retrieve this information. Please contact your network administrator for assistance.?

The setting worked on windows server 2008. I was able to login to DC and revise the setting, so we can log back in the windows 7 machines.

Anyone has experience this issue before? I looked up all of the web and only thing they said is to make sure the domain functional level must be set to Windows Server 2008, which it is.

Win 7 x64, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti I seem to have gotten myself into a 'pickle'. To start with, several years ago I had set up the desktop with two monitors and had it so that the desktop stretched across both monitors. That way the mouse could traverse both, back and forth. I was looking at the settings this morning and realized that the 32" LG monitor on the right now indicated a resolution of 1920x1080 which was all wrong. That was the resolution of the left 32" Samsung. But in fact the resolutions were both at the maximum for their ability. The left samsung was, in fact, displaying at 1920x1080 and the right LG was at 1360x768, it's maximum. (why the disparity between the the two? I was given the LG; what can I say?) So here is the problem: Now, not only are the monitors correct in possible resolution but are indicating incorrectly; and, I can no longer run the mouse from the left to right. It is stuck on the left. The display adapter is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. I have two possible ways of manipulating this. One with the Nvidia control in the tray and the other in Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution. First I tried selecting "Extend desktop to this display" but the mouse is still stuck on the left. So how do I correct the wrong info on each display and how to get it to allow the mouse access to the other display? Maybe the way is to somehow go back to basics then redo but I am not sure how. http://www.sevenfo... Read more

Is it possible to get more information on KB3025097?

I am working on an NFS server implementation and I'd like to know whether there is anything that can be done to avoid the issue from the server side. The KB article does not say what was the issue with the NFS client and how the hotfix changed the behavior.
Any additional details about the KB3025097 issue would save me the trouble of trying to tweak the NFS server behavior to see if the Windows NFS client will accept it.

Any hints on what the issue is related to would be very helpful. E.g., is it something about our FSSTAT reply that Windows NFS client doesn't like?

Ultimately we need a solution for all recent Windows versions (Win 7 or later), but any information that applies to any
Windows version would be helpful and valuable.

A:No display device?

Welcome to TSF

The Dxdiag tool can display configuration information for many of your computer's audio, video, and input devices.

Versions of Dxdiag that were included with DirectX version 8.1 and earlier use custom detection code to discover this information. But beginning with DirectX 9.0, Dxdiag now displays information that was gathered from the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) through Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Because of this change, you may notice that some fields in Dxdiag show more information, less information, or different information than in previous versions of Dxdiag. This is standard behavior.

A:Another Display Device Problem with WoW

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Based on what you have written, I would suspect that you do not have the correct drivers for your laptops graphics card. It says 'standard VGA graphics adaptor' because it has only installed the default Windows VGA drivers, not the specific drivers for your make and model of graphics card.

I would suggest going to the MSI website and downloading the graphics drivers for your specific make and model of laptop.

At this point I am assuming I need a new graphics card, but am hoping there might be another issue.

A:Dxdiag not showing display device

Are you sure your DVI, display port, HDMI, etc is connected to the graphics card not to the onboard graphics? Try reseating the card on another PCIe x16 slot. Make sure the display connections are connected to the GPU not the onboard graphics. Do the clean install to the latest stable drivers (314). Driver sweeper should have cured any software issues. If the reseating, checking the connectors, etc doesnt work, it is most likely an issue with the card.

I just restarted my computer and and i can not display 32 bit true color. It only allows me to diplay 16 colors. I went into display properties-->settings to change it then the screen shook and said "Your display adapter conflicts with another device in your computer. To correct the problem, click OK to start the Hardware Conflit Trouble Shooter." I did that and followed it step by step and the final message in the trouble shooter said "You've encountered a hardware conflict problem that this troubleshooter can't help you solve. For more information, try looking in the documentation for your hardware, or call your hardware support line." Is there any help that someone can give me, cuz this is BS all i did is restart the computer. And I've tryed restarting it several times now and shutting it down. If someone can help me one-on-on my AIM id is ChosenOneTHPS.

Hello. I will first start off with saying that I'm using an old Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ 512mb video card.
It has worked perfectly well for me all these years up till this day, when I woke up I found up some strange lines on my monitor screen. At first I thought it was my monitor problem. But then I noticed something when I checked my graphic card device in control panel under "Devices and Printers" and I found interesting error.

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Here's screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/1twhDkP.jpg

Then I went to Monitor resolution display and Adapter settings and found this: http://i.imgur.com/RrTNuvw.jpg

All information on adapter/video card are unavailable. It's like card is not even in the motherboard slot.

I also can't start Nvidia Control Panel: http://i.imgur.com/fbKYvdw.jpg

What I have tried so far:
- Fresh install of Windows 7 x32 bit system
- Fresh install of nvidia drivers (latest ones)
- Taking Nvidia video card out of it's slot, cleaning a bit around
- Took cmos battery out aswell

A friend told me that video card might die. But if it died, I wouldn't be able to have display picture at all. The card is working fine, the coolers on it are working fine... I have installed drivers but computer acts as if drivers aren't installed, even tho when I type "msconfig" and go to Services I can see Nvidia display driver service running.

Anyone got any suggestions what I could d... Read more

A:NVIDIA Display device won't work!

It sure sounds like the card is faulty. You could see if you know someone that can install in their computer to see if thing happens on their system. If it the same then card needs to be replaced

Hi chet1004, and welcome to TSG.

It might be easier to just buy a digital photo frame that has a memory card slot.

I have recently added a second physical hard drive with windows 7 pro 64bit os installed. The other hard drive is runing windows XP 32 bit Home Edition. The system is configured in dual boot. I cannot see the display drivers in device manager nor can I install the 64 bit drivers for my video card which is a ge force gs 7300 in windows 7.

Also I checked my original graphics drivers in the XP 32 bit OS and had to reinstall them as there was a change to them. Now i had a tech at NCIX do the install and configuration for me and he told me that the sysytem was operating fine but when i started to personalize and configure windows 7 I'm getting error messages when i try to open DVD maker or some other program that requires graphics support ... now the current graphics is called simply VGA which seems to be a basic program for my display.
When i begin the install process of the Nvidia 64bit drivers the wizard stops after about the first 30 seconds with the error message that it cannot find any graphics card/drivers to support and complete the install.... please help

Hi Izak_Cursh,

Welcome to TSG !

The drivers of your video card need to be upgraded :

- download the drivers from here (17,4 MB) and extract the zip file into a folder on your desktop;
- uninstall your current video drivers then restart your computer;
- browse the unzipped folder on your desktop : you should find a folder called '3.77logo', browse that folder, locate the file 'Setup.exe' then double-click on it to install the new driver;
- restart the computer and perform a new DirectX diagnostic to check if the new drivers are compatible.

I just got myself a new pc for my room. Everything runs good the gfx card is intergrated with the motherboard, which is asus M2A-VM. Its dual core 4200+ 2 gigs of ram. I Just too my recently bought gfx card out of my other pc which is pretty much the same as the pc i just explained except i dont think the motherboard is asus. Anyways when ever i insert my gfx card (Radean X1950 pro pci express) into the new pc i got and start up the pc it loads up with no display adapter group in the device manager. So I stick in my cd that came with the gfx card and try installing the display driver for it and no it doesnt work it says . Something about installing a simple vga driver and to try again. I would reinstall my chipset drivers but Since i got this pc from my friend for free i dont got no disc for it which would include chipset drivers like my older pc did i would think. Iv went to the asus site and downloaded the proper chipset drivers for my motherboard and still after installing them no change. It wont read my gfx card for some reason. Im thinking it must be tho since i got my monitor plugged into it and it works fine just says the monitor is on default. I dont know what to do iv tryed meny different things. Any ideas of how to fix this are welcome.
