I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! Thanks ahead of time for helping me!!I barely use my computer and once when it was in 'SLEEP' mode, I pushed the 'Start' button and it started beeping. I powered it off manually and ever since then, when I start up, I get three long beeps and four short beeps, five times in a row! I searched for the beep codes but didn't see those particular beeps. My warranty ended in October, of course! Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!!Thanks!

I have a problem with my Dell XPS L701X, I bought it 1 year ago. But since a few days my laptop Beep's 8 times at the start-up. when it does I ussualy just power off my laptop because of the annoying sound, and turn it back on. Once I powered it on and off for 3-4 times it doesn't beep anymore an works fine. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I already searched the internet and I found that someting could be wrong with the GPU or something. And it said I had to hold down the D button at start-up so I could check if my collours where right. So i did and all my collours where just fine. If anyone knows more about this problem then please reply soon because my warrenty expires at jan. 11
PS. Sorry for my bad english
BTW. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits

I have a Micron PIII 450 that will not start up by itself. What happens is I will first be prompted to enter tab for post or esc, then after I post it will almost start all the way then I get two beeps and an error that says something about the Motherboard PCI and IRQ not configured. It will also say enter F1 to start. After all that it will start just fine.

Any suggestions?

Look in your device manager and see if anything is bammed.
I recently found a downloadable program that would check your system. I'll search around for that, probably was a post I read here. The download was not the full program but the full version was only $10.00 if that rings a bell to anyone.

Out of the blue, my computer would not start up.  Only got weird 8 beeps, no screen.  Can I fix this?

A:HELP 8 Beeps and no start up

Eight beeps means no display panel is detected.
Hold the D key through powerup.  That'll trip a screen self-test -- you should see a series of alternating color screens.   If you don't, the LCD is toast and needs to be replaced.
If you do see the self-test, the problem could be as simple as a detached or damaged wiring harness (it connects to both  the mainboard and back of the display).  If the cable is OK, then the mainboard is faulty - to determine which, extensive disassembly is required. If you need to know how to do this, post thee full model number (i.e., XPS L502x, Inspiron N5110, etc.).

Have new Inspiron 3552.  Second time I started it, it went black screen upon my entering the password and although I have tried video instructions, Power cord w/o battery, D+Power numerous times (of which ran longer than the other options), the screen remained black and the 8 beeps would repeat.  Any additional recommendations before I call Dell?

If the system is new, ask to have it replaced - there is no sense in troubleshooting a DOA system.  The eight beeps means the system doesn't sense the display panel.

A:My laptop beeps when i tried to start it.

What is the exact system model?
Is there any damage / liquid spillage on the system?
The 7 beeps is a CPU failure - more likely a motherboard failure and 8 beeps is a LCD failure. Kindly review the article here - http://dell.to/1IuETMX
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download the BIOS, update and restart the machine and check.
Run the LCD bist - Turn off the system and press and hold the "D" key + power button to turn on the system and it should run the LCD built in self test - see this link for more info - http://dell.to/1SkXNrG
If the issue is not resolved, download the service manual from the above link and reseat the LCD cable and check.
If the issue persists, then replace the LCD assembly.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Hi, I have a asus P5N-SLI with a e6400 and raid 5 set up, after it worked for a while, it one day when restarting just went to a long solid beep I was running one set of 2 1gig each ocz ram sticks 800 speed. before this I would get notes that memory could not be written. at first I unplugged it opened the case and put it all back and it worked for about a week, then did it again, this time it wouldn't work at all just the long solid beep.
For some reason I thought it might be a bad stick of ram, so I tried removing one, it still wouldn't boot, but then I moved them around and noticed that a1 b1 if there was ram in either of those slots the computer would not boot just the long beep, but in a2 b2 it has no problems sees the ram just fine, so I tried another brand of ram same thing. could this be bios or I saw another post in here that someone had almost the same exact problem and someone said he may have had a ground issue of the board to the case, well it had me thinking that makes sense, because I noticed that when I use my audio plug out to my stereo, I get a loud buzz you know like the same kind in a car stereo amp. Any suggestions? I did purchase a gigabyte EP43-DS3L board to try if that should maybe be my best resolution.

A:asus p5n-sli just beeps no start up

I also tried a different power supply, I had ocz gold edition GX XTC pc2 5400 p# ocz26672048ELGEGXT-K was the first ram I had in it I now have Corsair 2GB Twin 2X 6400. Running win xp media center, but I never opened the media center, cause I don't use it. Also the computer is currently running with the two ram sticks in the a2 b2 slots with random restarts and sometimes certain programs will not start, they act like they are, but then close, that I am not worried about so much, if I solve the ram problem I'll fresh load windows again.

First blush guess would suggest that the laptop believes a key is stuck. Incessant beeping and the fact the password fails points as a possibility.

This just started today, I updated to windows 7 a few days ago and all was going fine. I shut my computer down (though I thought) last night and when I woke up this morning it was still on the logging out page so I shut it down from the switch. I restarted it later on in the day and got no beeps on start up and no video. I took it all apart cleaned it (including the monitor) and it worked for a few hours. During a download my computer shut down and when I turned it back on it said it was over heating so I shut it down again, waited a few hours and now I'm not getting beeps on start up or video. This has become very frustrating for me. I can't tell you much about the computer because all the info is on it, I can tell you that I have a MSI mobo, intel processor, and it has 2 gb ram. I hope someone can help me resolve this issue. Thank you

I'm getting 2 beeps on boot on an Inspiron 660 but BIOS show correct memory while both ePSA and Support Assist show NO ERRORS with memory! What could be the reason behind the beeps? Could it be my video card memory or what?

A:Inspiron 660 2 beeps on start up

Try reseating RAM modules and add-in video card in their slots. Use some canned air to blow out the dust bunnies.
And if the motherboard battery is old, this might be a good time to replace it.
If that doesn't help, you could try removing the add-in video card and connecting the monitor to one of the onboard video parts. You have to remove the card first because the onboard ports are disabled when the add-in card is installed.
Check the manual for instructions:

I have a Dell precision workstation 360. It tells me system battery votage is low, keep forgeting date and time, so i replaced the battery on the motherboard. While i do this, i found the botton of the coin battery chamber was slightly erosed, so i used a small metal knife scraped it so try to make better connection with the battery.
After that, my computer will not start. After i press the power button, the front power light is on, with 6 beeps. then nothing will happen. the beep pattern like this: 2 long followed by two short, then pause then two short ones.
I wonder does this means the motherboard is dead? or some other issues? I might did stupid things, since i do not know much about the computer.

Five beeps is a clock issue - if the main battery was drained, you may have drained the reserve battery.  Replace that (under Coin Cell battery in the manual)..
downloads.dell.com/.../inspiron-15-3541-laptop_owner's manual_en-us.pdf
The two beeps is a no-memory error.  Try unplugging the system, removing or disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall the memory module(s).

I've acquired an Optiplex GN+ 200Mz barebones machine, socket 7, 2 DIMM slots, copyright 1997 on motherboard. I'll set it up as usual with (tried all types of memory) pc66, 100, 133, hard drive, CD ROM. Everything else is on board. It immediately gives me a beep code, 1-3-1-1, nothing more. The monitor screen remains dark, but I can hear the hard drive spinning up. Bios research says that this beep code indicates the memory needs to be reseated. I've tried every combination of memory I have: 32M of PC66, 64M of PC100, 128M of PC133, and 256M of PC133. Does anyone have any suggestions how I might get past these beep codes.

The problem with Toshiba Tecra S2-E 12103PPL PTS20

Laptop when you start it just peaks as shown in this film

These same peaks are no RAM and no graphics or mobo with the processor itself.
What could be causing this behavior?

Battery backup BIOS?

Hallo dude?

The movie shows an disassembled notebook and just an motherboard?
Does the notebook pass the POST (power on self test) properly??
Can you see an Toshiba Splash Screen???
Are you able to access the BIOS?

If mentioned things are not possible or don?t work, then an motherboard problem (generally speaking) causes this? sorry to say this but I think that only an technician could who tested the hardware parts would be able to provide more details about the possible faults.

This is continued from my old thread which seems to have died, no matter how many times I try to revive it. It's kinda turned into a whole new issue so this should be a nice fresh start for my nice fresh problem

So, here's the deal. My PSU got fried in a storm or something, so I got a new one and installed it. The power turns on now, but the computer repeatedly emits long, 5-second beeps separated by 2-second pauses, and nothing shows up on the monitor. By looking at computer beep codes (http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#05) I've determined (I think) that this is some kind of memory or RAM problem. I think I have Award BIOS (or possibly Phoenix?), if you want to check that at all.

I don't know how this new problem has come about. Perhaps I messed something up when fiddling about inside the computer, or perhaps I installed the PSU wrong, I don't know... I've connected it to my two cd drives, my floppy drive, my hard drive and of course the motherboard (with the 20-pin connector and a 4-pin connector).

So does anyone know how to fix this?

Hope that's all clear, and thanks,

- Danjb

This is a problem that has only just started. I looked up my Bios, and I seem to be running AMIINT 10 Version 1.00.
Anyways, to the actual problem. I left my computer on last night so that I could stay in a game server for a friend/event. I went to bed around 5am, and all was fine. However, just a few hours later, my sister woke me up to say that my computer had begun to beep. Indeed, I heart it - repeated beeps that went on without end. They were two beeps that just repeated over and over again; one being a little higher pitched than the other, but each individual beep being fairly short. I immediately shut off the system, and left it off, assuming maybe that the CPU had just gotten too hot. However, since this was the first time I've ever heard this beeping, I was worried.

Later, I opened up the case. Made sure everything was seated properly, which it seemed to be. The heatsink fan seemed fairly dusty, so I cleaned it a bit. Then I started back up. During start up, the beeping continued, just as it had before. Although abruptly halted as soon as I came to me desktop. Since then, everything seems to be working fine, but I'm still worried; as the beeping seems to be an indication of a serious problem coming my way.

So does anyone have any idea or suggestions about what's wrong? If they can figure out what's wrong?

I've been getting an annoying issue when I start my machine. The pre-boot stuff all goes well and I get the single beep which indicates that everything is ok but then the operating system fails to start and I'm left looking at a black screen. This can normally be resolved by simply restarting the machine but recently its happening more often and I sometimes can't get the OS to load unless I leave the machine for a day or so before I try to start it up again.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

My machine specs are:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2687W O
RAM: 64Gb
GFX: Nvidia Quadro 5000

Does anyone have an idea of what might be the cause and how I can fix it?

Many thanks.

A:At start-up my machine beeps once but the OS does not load

hi I would check to see if your hard drive is good it could be failing. can use this to check SeaTools for DOS | Seagate or use the hard drives manufactures test tool. Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.
