Anyone BACKUP to online sites?

Q: Anyone BACKUP to online sites?

I am very interested in backing up to an online site, but have done SOME research and SOME seem very reasonably priced and some seem outrageously priced. Carbonite seems the best for the money but I heard you can't retrieve your email. The reason I'd like to backup to an online site is I'm on the road a lot and it would be nice to log on from any system and access my files.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a LOT of info I would need backed up.

Preferred Solution: Anyone BACKUP to online sites?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We connect our clients to a number of such sites... there are at least 125. They work reliably, but their prices keep going up after they have the client hooked. We have no known failures with them.

I have 1 pc with about 3 1/4 TB of storage space total. I also have 3 laptops with about 750 GB a piece of total HD space.
I was using backblaze but I saw that putting 4 computers on it would cost a lot of money.
I would be willing to back up the 3 laptops to the pc if I can find a way to do it automatically. Then pay for an online backup for the one pc. If I could find an inexpensive multi computer unlimited storage deal I would be willing to look at that. I would appreciate some guidance. My backblaze runs out this month.
thanks,

A:question about online backup sites

Did you check out bitcasa? I think they would be a good way for you to go. I am not sure on their pricing for TBs of data though. Dropbox and other services would be very expensive for you I believe unless you get the team edition.

I'm trying to compile some internet usage, eCommerce statistics, and trends, etc. The core markets I am interested in getting info on would be the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Global references would also be useful.

I am looking through Dr Ralph Wilson's website, which is a goldmine of info, but was wondering if there was anywhere else with free resources for this type of analysis and statistics?

Any links would be well appreciated.

For others reference, I have also located http://cyberatlas.internet.com/big_picture/stats_toolbox/article, www.netfactual.com and of course www.nua.ie

Hello. I have an HP Pavilion desktop with Windows XP Home SP 3.

I've been online banking for years with no problems. Within the last 2-3 days, my banking sites have stopped recognizing my computer. I have to keep answering one of my security questions in order to continue on to being able to log into them. I can click on their "yes, register this computer" button, but it doesn't work. The very next time I try to log in again, I am taken back to the page "We don't recognize this computer. Please answer the security question to continue." Again, there is more than one banking site that this is happening on.

The only thing that I can recall changing recently on my PC was an upgrade to the latest version of Firefox. I have NO idea if that is the cause, it is simply the only thing that I am aware of changing on my PC at about the same time this problem started.

To ensure that I am understood properly, I would like to mention a second time that I have been using these sites for a very long time with no problems like this before.

Right now I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this problem, or is even experiencing it themselves.

Thank you to all who take the time to reply.

A:Firefox and secure web sites (online banking)

It doesn't look like anyone is familiar with this problem.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to the cause, or better yet, how to correct it?

Thank you again.

Here are the symptoms. Several days ago my anti-virus (Avast) discovered some virus after I had jsut finished downloading a zip file from a free hosting site. The zip only had a buncha png files that I was supposed to proofread and check. So naturally I thought good job and told my antivirus to delete the infected file since it was just something in the temp folder. But after that it was like Pandora's box had opened and i got all kinds of crazy stuff happening. All kinds of viruses started popping up and programs weren't starting up correctly upon boot and I was getting errors about bad dlls and kernel stuff freaking out. Then it got worse: All of the sudden it switched to classic logon whereas it was it was normal XP auto-login before. Then my windows' minimize, maximize and close buttons reverted back to the normal XP look except they were too small. Finally it just BSOD after loading the desktop for a few seconds. No amount of boot time scans was helping.

At this point I thought I was totally screwed and decided it was a good time to reformat and do some general housekeeping. So I boot into safe mode and do another virus scan before backing up my files to a external HD. Then I format my internal storage drive in windows and then backup whats left to there since my external was not big enough. Anyhow after I reformat get it all up and running again, I plug in my external and grab some files off there. Everything was fine for the rest of the day.

The next morning I b... Read more

A:Virus Blocking Online Scanning Sites

UPDATE:

I managed to get to an online scanner (Kaspersky) and it confirmed my fears. It found 85 files infected with Virut.ce, mostly system files.

I guess im totally screwed. I know what needs to be done now, but do have a couple questions that need answering before I proceed. I want to backup some files still, but how and where? My external is almost certainly infected and full to boot. Can I just delete all the exe , html, etc from it? I know it got into the system volume info of the external too. Should I just suck it up and burn everything I want to save to DVDs? I also have some disc images I want to save (bin, cue, iso, etc.). Some are compressed, others not. I know virut can penetrate compressed files with exes in them, but are isos safe?

The next part is how should I format? I got 3 drives I need to format, but won't they all just reinfect each other before i can format them all? Is there some way to reformat the other two drives without booting into windows? I have Ubuntu Live CD that I used to backup file earlier, but i dont think I can format a drive for windows using that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have an asus laptop that i will be no longer using after i get my new sager laptop. I have files that are on my current laptop that i save in my documents that include important documents, then you have music files i downloaded and video files. I also have a really old usb kingston flash drive that i bought many years ago thats only 4gb. Currently theres not much space left due to me having the documents, music files and maybe just 1-2 videos. I cannot put much more music album or video like that as there wouldn't be enough space.

Thus all the videos that i have, its pretty much in my laptop only. There are videos that i downloaded and kept and i keep most of it on adrive.com. Someone mentioned thats a site where you could store up to 50gb data. They said if you wanted more, you could create another account as its not a big deal.

When i get my sager laptop, it won't have a dvd drive. So if i want to format it in the future, i cant put the dvd in it. I read here that i would have to download windows 7 64 bit iso file on a usb drive had i wanted to install windows myself but i had xoticpc do it. Well the thing is if i need to format it again, i know i need to have an iso file downloaded on flash drive. I also read that its 3.1gb and since my flash drive is only 4gb... and its smaller than that as you know.

That means im going to have to get another flash drive then right in case i need to format? If so, should i be getting a 16gb or 32gb flash drive? Or is 32gb ... Read more

A:Usb Flash Drive and Storage Online Sites

Also, do most of you use those storage sites to keep files? And if you do, do you feel its more reliable than a flash drive as backup? The thing is as long as you remember your username and password and email associated with it, then thats actually better than a usb flash drive right since you can always lose the flash drive?

Also could you download almost any file and upload it to adrive? I only done videos but i'm pretty sure word documents and any document or pdf file and music songs work there as well? If so, is there a reason why it seem like most ppl never heard of it? Because it offers 50gb of space and that is a lot. But has anyone heard of it being hacked or files get lost or corrupted? I heard about icloud and i hear its basically the same thing as adrive except its for ios and macs. Is that true?

I'm curious besides the laptop or computer you are using, whats the 2nd, 3rd etc place you back up your important documents, pictures and files? I would figure its computer 1st, then a storage site, then a flash drive in that order? Is there another option? Because there are some documents that i want to make sure is there and i won't lose it etc.

Also are those sites safe to store passwords for sites? I have lot of password for sites and i keep my username/password in my laptop and in the small usb flash drive i use. Its basically a word document and me typing username/password for each site. Obviously that isn't good in case i lose laptop or usb drive. Bu... Read more

I am running under Windows 98.
My problem is exhibited in IE, Navigator 4.77 and 7.1 as well as Firebird.

I know the problem is with my computer not the sites or images that I am trying to view.

When I go to certain sites I am told they do not exist, when they do.

When I go to other sites and utilize the function on the site, instead of the expected results I get a blank screen and in the Navigator Title bar is a reference to GIF Image, 32x32 pixels. I have seen the expected results on other computers as a list, not a blank screen. In IE on that same site I get a blank screen and when I do file properties it tells me it is a gif (it should not be a gif, it should be a list).

There are also certain images that instead of being able to view them I get a blank -- and the reference to GIF Image 32x32 when I look at their properties. One of these gif files is one that I have on my harddrive and I can view it fine with my browser when it is on the harddrive. But when I upload it to the server, I get the blank with reference to GIF Image 32x32. There are even jpgs that I get this indication from.

I know this is my setup somehow, but I do not know what to look for as the cause of this problem. I have cleaned out my cache and cookies. I emptied WINDOWS/temp. I ran spybot (I actually thought that the trouble started when I did the immunize with spybot, but i am not positive about that - and I would think it would not have effected Navigator. Does anyone here use the Carbonite online backup service? I know someone who does, but I'm still a bit skeptical of trusting my "priceless" photos and stuff to some company's server.

I've been backing up on separate hard drives. But they're not big enough now, so I'm going to have to buy a bigger one. Is it better to go with an online service, and upload your files to their server, than mirror a partition to your local backup hard drive? What is the best online backup service out there?

My friend who uses Carbonite loves it (though he's never had to restore a wiped-out system with it). They charge $49.95 per year for unlimited space. Their software monitors your system to detect changed/added files and then uploads those, adding to the backup, but I wonder if that extra software being always active is going to slow down my system.

Doubt it, and how long have you got anyway ? A typical PC has often got a minimum of 20Gb of data, whilst a typical 5Mbit download broadband only has 300Kbit upload, and to transfer 20Gb would take approximately 148 hours.

Also, I have another online radio station I like to listen to: WCLN which is a local station here. I can listen to it fine in Internet Explorer, but it won't even run in FireFox.

Does it run in any of your Firefox browsers? If so, what options or extensions would help to fix this?

Hi, i just started looking into online TV.
Long story short theres tons of stuff to dig through, and i have no idea as to whats sites and or software are even worth the while.

I went through a handful of sites after a few search queries only to be disappointed.
Some are free but offer junk channels, and others are simply pay sites...which i know theres got to be good sites that offer it for free.
And others need a client to be downloaded and installed...hmmmm....
Anyways, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Currently im no too picky about the channel selection, as i dont really know whats offered just yet. Im in the USA so channels in the states is a must...at least in English.
However, i would love to watch and listen to foreign channels...if in English.

Thanks all

That is an option. Another option is to have your computer backup to your computer at home. You can use a Dynamic DNS service to connect to whatever computer you wish. As a mater of fact you could have it backup to a external USB drive with the right type of router. http://no-ip.com is a free service. This way you have total control.Just one more dea to think about. You will need atleast DSL or cable on each end.

Soon, I'll no longer be using SOS Online Backup. I was grandfathered in with their unlimited plan, but just found out that all grandfathered unlimited accounts will now be required to switch to limited plans. This sucks, because the greatest feature of SOS is true archiving, which enables me to upload huge files such as BD rips, and then delete them from my PC while keeping them in the cloud, thereby freeing up space on my C drive. Do you guys know of any online backup services that offer unlimited and true archiving? What can you recommend? Thanks.

Jim

A:Need Online Backup Recommendation

Hi:

Bummer.
That stinks.
I was looking at them to replace my current service (see below).
But it's too late to get a grandfathered unlimited account.
Bummer.

I compiled this list back in FEBRUARY.
Obviously, it is no longer entirely up to date on some details.
So I offer it "as is", as far as researching the other companies.
This is in addition to the usual vendors (Carbonite, Mozy) and the big "cloud" file-sharing services (Google Drive, OneDrive, SugarSync, etc.)

I have a feeling that an UNLIMITED account with TRUE ARCHIVING and adequate SECURITY will be EXPENSIVE and/or hard to find.

Let us know what you come up with,

Well, I've been a freeloader on the IDrive online backup service for about six months. They offer 2GB free (or 12GB free if you let them raid your address book), and I've successfully restored countless files from them. In one case, they really saved my bacon.

Does anyone have opinions about online backup software, eg Voxy, Carbonite, BT Vault etc? I'm interested in unlimited storage, not particularly a free option.

Thanks in advance of any help.

I would like to back up my photos and some other files online somewhere but the prices look quite high.

There are quite a few web hosts (Hostgator etc) that offer unlimited space hosting packages, could something like this work as a way to allow be to upload my files somewhere? Or am I being niaive?

I have about 30 GB of photos and counting so Dropbox won't cut it for me!

Can anyone help me with a low cost solution for backing up these photos?

Thanks!

Hello

I am looking for an online backup which also allows to backup on a network drive.
I have found one option which is Moxzy Pro though it is rather expensive. Does anyone of you know of any other? I would also consider and FTP solution which I could then use with an FTP client to backup both, online and network drive.

Thanks

I've struggled with this problem twice in the past, and the second time was never resolved. This time I purchased the newest Quicken 2017. Quicken Customer Support helped me to delete my old account info for the Online Backup, which is still wonky. Now I'm trying to set up a new account (have the acct # & password ready to go) but I ran into a problem with setup. It gave me this error:
LA4150: Phrase # 24150 (C:\Program Files\Quicken Online Backup\BuEng.dlx
That's all it said, which isn't very helpful in resolving it. I'm not sure what folder to pick in browsing for a place to store my backups, but this is the one that I found. Any ideas on how to make it work? Or a different folder to try?

Hey guys,

After my PC buggered up and I lost some files, I'm looking at possibly using an online backup service to back up my photos and other personal files.

I want to use an online service as I think it will be easier, and wont require me to buy any extra hardware.

So, what ones do you guys recomend? I want a service where I can tell it to back up specific folders, and possibly do this constantly in the background, so my backups are never out of date.

Any advice always appreciated!

Thanks, Dean

MM

2. Crash Plan ($59.99/yr/PC or $149.99 family; unlimited; never deletes; good security): CrashPlan Review & Rating | PCMag.com
3. IDRive ($59.50/yr for 1 TB; some service & CS issues, but responsive; good security; File Explorer integration; *site NOT whitelisted by KL*): IDrive Review & Rating | PCMag.com
4. SpiderOak ($84/yr for 30 GB, $129 for 1 TB; best privacy, but expensive and slow): SpiderOakONE Review & Rating | PCMag.com

I googled how to open ports and it told me go in to windows firewall>advanced setting>new rule etc. I want to install a game so I need certain ports to be open and unrestricted. When I used online port checker sites they all say the required ports aren't open. What's the deal here?

A:Online port checker sites saying ports aren't open

Hi how are you connected to the internet, is it directly or do you have a router?
If you have a router you will have to do a port forwarding on it, to your ip address.
If you are connected directly you will have to call your ISP, and have them open the ports.

Not only am I having hell uninstalling that, but anything I right click on, on the desktop attempts to reinstall it, which I thought uninstalled already. This is akin to the worst virus I have ever had. Hopefully someone can help me on this.

It seems that you installed a troublesome program.

I would try Revo Uninstaller first,

Howdies,

I know this has absolutely nothing to do with win7 but you guys rock so I thought I'd ask here first.

When I installed win7 my norton 360 sub had expired so instead of having to pay the extra to renew (70 squid) I decided to rebuy the download (40 squid). However my mother paid for it so it got registered in her name instead of mine and now I can't access my online back up so I can retrieve me iTunes folder (which I forgot to back up manually before upgrading). There is an option to change email address when U are on the log into norton account screen but then it tells you the product is registered to someone else so tough ... lol

Any ideas appreciated

Im not sure.
I think your best bet in this situation is Symantec themselves, and quite honestly, probably the only one who can help at this point..

I'm sure they can get something worked out for you.

So my very highly coveted HP Upline service was just discontinued today and I need to find another online backup service. I have two local backups, but I really just feel I need that offsite storage, just in case. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about any other service you've tried? I've looked at the major ones like Mozy and Carbonite, and some others like SOS. SOS looks great, but it's $49.95 per 15GB per year, so that's just cost prohibitive. Mozy and Carbonite are 49.95-54.95 per year, unlimited GB. Just looking for some thoughts before I commit to something. Thanks!
