I recommend downloading and running DRP. It's a recovery tool that has been proven to recover files that most other programs have no luck with. I've even recovered files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/v51TwD. (This link will automatically start a download of DRP that you can save to your computer.)

A: i have 10gb harddisk which has a password on how do i remove it kindly assist

You contact the hard drive manufacturer or a data recovery company.

ATA hard drive passwords are implemented inside the hard drive itself and AFAIK there are no easy and publicly known reset mechanisms.

this is set via the bios
as the PC starts it should flash on the screen for a few seconds how to get to the bios/setup
often at this point you press a key to enter
depending on make an model of your PC
could be <F2>or <F10> or <Del> or another key

In the bios will be a section, probably security to set a bios / harddrive password
in some cases just setting the bios also sets the harddrive
if you forget the harddrive password - remember if you forget the password , you will not be able to access the harddrive , even if you put it into a different pc

A couple days ago I clicked on a pin from a map online. Explorer immediately closed, then the computer shut down.
When I turned the computer on again, maybe 47 warning windows popped up and also a window about ATI catalyst not functioning. I used an anti virus program which caught and removed 47 threats. No longer did ATI cataclyst have any trouble and the warning windows no longer appeared. I unhide my files after unsucessfully using system restore.
However, my internet connection has been slow and sometimes searches will be redirected. Sometimes my browser will close. In control panel I have seen many svhosts instead of one. I downloaded malwarebytes antimalware and perhaps every minute or so it blocks outgoing from explorer, and from hotmail a outgoing from iexplorer, always using different port numbers.
I don't have a bootdisk and I lost my Windows cd in a move.
When I used DSS a window said PAT.DAT cannot function.
GMER told me through 5 windows that win32 was in use already. It also did this in safe mode but still scanned from directory, files, regestry, c drive and backup d drive.
I hope that your kindness and expertise will extent to me because I cannot seem to remove this troublesome malware without help.

A:Primary harddisk password

Defeating or circumventing Passwords is something that assistance is not allowd on this forum. While your intentions may be totally honorable, no one here can know that for sure. There are individuals that try to crack passwords on computers and hard drives because they don't have them and the system they are trying to gain access to does not belong to them and they came about it in a nefarious fashion. As I said, this is not to call you dishonest, but there is no way for us to be certain. Please don't take offense to this.

Hi lori42, welcome to 7f!

You will need to contact Acer to see if they have a master password, and if they will reset it for you.

Hello all,

I need some advice.

I recently replaced my old harddisk to a new harddisk. The old harddisk has windows xp home and other programs installed.

I did not format the old harddisk, I only took out the old harddisk and replaced it with a new harddisk. I then installed windows xp home to the new harddisk.

While I am installing programs on the new harddisk, I discovered that one of the programs do not allow me to activate the program license because I have previously activated the program on my old windows. I need to do a proper uninstallation to release the license, then I can activate the license of the program in the new harddisk.

My question is, can I take out my current new harddisk, replace it with the old harddisk, boot up as normal into the old harddisk windows, uninstall the program inside the old harddisk, then replace the old hardisk with my new harddisk again.

Will I be able to access the old windows on the old harddisk?
Will it mess up my current windows/programs settings?
Will my current new harddisk windows be able to work as normal after accessing the old harddisk windows?
I thought of accessing the old harddisk as a slave, but I do not know if it is possible to access the old harddisk and do a proper uninstall of the program?
Is there any better way of uninstalling the program on my old harddisk?

Thanks in advance.

A:Accessing Win XP on old harddisk to uninstall programs after installing new harddisk

you have to swap out the drive completely. at no time should you have both hdd plugged in.

Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS: The whole issue has started with me seeing a warning on Bitdefender's Vulnerability module telling that the guest account has no password. I clicked on it and created a password for my guest account from within BD. That doesn't necessarily have to be related with the problem, just FYI.

My husband found a Dell desktop left behind in one of the rental properties his company manages and brought it home. There is a guest user that I can log onto without a password and get on the internet, but I can't save any files or download any programs without the password. Is there a way I can remove this password lock, without knowing the password or logging onto the admin user, or would I have to completely wipe Windows and reinstall it?

A:How to remove administrator password, without knowing the password?

Offline Registry Editor
Enable the Hidden Adminstrator Account and then use it to reset the standard Administrator Account. Follow this guide. Here is a video. You don't want to reset your admin accounts password using the Offline Registry Editor if by chance the file system is encrypted.
If password is reset on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or newer, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! and cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again If you don't know if you have encrypted files or not, you most likely don't have them. (except maybe on corporate systems)

Hello All,
I need to remove user passwords. Yes I have removed Admin password. I have used Trinity, Hiren's boot disk, UBCD and other linux and password removal programs. I want to remove the user passwords from the login. I have done the safe mode startup and disabled the EUFI. I cannot login to the admin or safe mode unless i enter the user password. Which is what I am trying to remove. I have watched videos and read tutorials and all of them tell me to login and then change the password. Is there any possible way to remove this? I am talking about the main user login that has the user name with the email under it. Is there a way to remove them from pulling the hard drive and accessing it through usb as an external drive. I have been through multiple forums and all with the same thing. They all tell me to login and then change the safe mode or user settings. I want to remove the user password without loging in. PLEASE do not send me a site that shows me how to remove password after loging in or login and change the start up or settings. I already know how to do those things. Like I said I already removed admin password, but I cannot login or it does not show that user as a choice to login. Yes I am very frustrated with this. I think I am going to quit my job and quit working on computers if this is what Is installed for the future.   <<<<this is how I feel. DUMB!!

A:Keyboard shorcuts opens, when i press R it opens the RUN Command window & when i press E it opens the My computer , How should i remove these shorcuts. When i use these keys in my Virtual machine it works fine, Kindly guide me in this issue

Thanks for the post!
It seems the shortcut keys are messed up. Did you get this issue before?
By default, Win+R is used to open Run command, and Win+E for opening Computer. It seems these shortcut keys are changed. Now, if you press Win+R or Win+E, which windows will show?
If you figure out which application used this two shortcuts keys. Right-click the application, choose Properties - Shortcut Tab, what's behind the Shortcut key box? Change it with another shortcuts key.
Also fully scan your computer, and if you have a backup, a system restore could help you come back to a nearlier time.

I have a problem w/ my 60GB Maxtor 7200 rpm h/d.

I'm using WInXP Pro.

I checked under it's properties and it says that I've used 10gb and have close to 47GBs left. I know for sure that I don't anywhere close to that on the h/d. I went through the folders one by one and counted how much space is in them and I counted only 2.5GB.

I already deleted everything in my Recycle bin, including the norton protected files in the recycle bin.

I also reformatted my HD and this is a new install just a couple of weeks old. I also had the same problem before I reformatted.

Anyone know how I can get it to report the right used space size/free space?

Thanks in Advance.

I wonder why it is I lose a certain percentage of space on a new external hard drive, or any hard drive for that matter, when I format the darn thing?
This is my forth external hard drive I purchase and each time I lose between 7 to 9 % of space just by going through the process. Any insight on that would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

A:Lost 10GB!

This is a rather moot subject. Manufacturers advertise in GB where 1GB = 1000MB.
In reality 1GB = 1024MB.
So a (as sold) 100GB harddisk has at the most 97.6GB. Then you lose a few GB for the filesystem and you are quickly down to ca. 7-9% loss.

Whatever you count is probably wrong. Here is what you have to add:

1. What WinDirStat tells you - plus

2. The shadowstorage. Run this command:

vssadmin list shadowstorage

It is the Allocated that counts.

I have cleared all restore points,
used disk clean up, and have checked disck properties.
Am I missing something??

I have recently upgraded my system from 4 to 10gb of ram. I was able to use all my ram when I had 4gb of ram. However, after upgrading my system I discovered I was only able to use 3.24gb of ram. What is going on? I understand that a 32bit operating system cannot use more than 4gb of ram but, currently I have a 64BIT OS. I just don't get it, and I need help!

OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
My computer model is Dell OptiPlex 990 mini tower
I believe the motherboard model for my system is 6D7TR

I have tried to remove some mismatching ram and I can still only use 3gb of ram.
[Note] Before this all happened I also remembered changing the virtual memory on my computer. However, changing it back has no impact what so ever.

If anyone can help me out that be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi -Click Start > Help and Support > In the top box type Change Password -Depending on exactly which password you wish to change / reset, there is a list shown, plus directions -I do not think BIOS password is listed, but you may mean Logon password, or Windows password -Thank You -

Hi all,
I'm the new stupid who ran JRT without taking too seriously its advice "Run at your own risk". I know I'm the guitly, but notheless it never happened to me before with any other similar tool.
I was trying to remove that "swee-page.com" bleep... I unlucky disabled time ago the System Restore Point, don't even remember why, maybe to save space in HDD... didn't think about about it before to run JRT.
The first thing I notice while it runs are some reported errors ("Not accessible area" or something similar, as far as I remember)... second thing is my "quick launch bar", it disapperead. I try to run some software, but almost all links on my desktop report me "Impossible to find". Than I try to launch the softwares directly from their directory, and surprise, no CCleaner, no Photoshop (or any other software from the Adobe suite), no CorelDRAW... one of the few still there was Skype, don't know why.
I check my free space on disk C and I'm shocked, almost 10GB of data disapperead!
I would like now to restore my previous situation before to use JRT (or anything quite similar)... I read JRT save a registry backup in C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT\JRT, but have no idea which file and how to use it. Can you please give me any help?
I also guess that even if I restore registry, I won't have back all my softwares (and who knows what else I lost)... have any idea if I can use some tool to restore those files? Something like Recuva by Piriform, but with the feature to restore files in their origi... Read more

G'day familydog, and to BC !!
We can start by uninstalling any of these programs......they may be present in add/remove or programs and features...depending on your OS....or they may not be......but if they are, uninstall them ....read below...
When the Programs and Features or the Uninstall a Program screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Sweet-Page uninstaller, WPM17.8.0.3159, Sweet-Page.com Browser new tab extension, IePluginService, SupTab and any other recently installed unknown program from your computer.
To view the most recently installed programs, you can click on the “Installed On” column to sort your program by the installation date. Scroll though the list, and uninstall any unwanted or unknown programs.
You can post these results one at a time or altogether.....your choice !
..Reset your Browser/s...(whichever one/s apply to you..)
If you use Chrome....there may be an extension there called  Extended Protection 1.9, Lightning Newtab  ....get rid of it and any others that you did not install.
Be sure to reset any default search engine/home page back to Google or whatever you normally use.
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.NOTE : Please close ... Read more

How big is Windows 7?

What is using up 36GB?

It shows up as 10.5 GB in Properties of My Computer; but the overall hard drive I installed it on is showing 36GB is used up! This is before I've installed any applications. I also checked the size every folder on the drive individually that Windows installed. Combined they are less than 1GB, so I don't know what is using up the other approximately 24GB on this hard drive.

A:How Big Is Windows 7? 10GB or 36GB ?

I just installed the newer version's beta or the Windows 8 CP on a 32gb flash drive and saw some 19.2gb available. That's slightly larger then a fresh install of 7. You wouldn't see the rest in the folder properties however since some drive space is automatically reserved for System Restore points and with the 32bit Windows you would need to take into account drive space reserved for the paging file used for virtual memory.

Restore points and swap space won't see any files there and remains hidden from view in most cases until you unhide all protected files and folders in the folder options view settings. The Recycle Bin also sees some space reserved as well since that acts like a temp folder when dragging things into it until emptied where you can still recover files from that.

All these combined take up the drive space you don't see while not being put in your face so to speak but tucked away neatly. These are all automatically maintained behind the scenes!

Hey guys, I previously had Windows XP and stuck with a problem trying to format.

Here is what I did so far.
OK do the following:

1. Startup PC with Boot Floppy
2. Type 'A:\>fdisk' You'll see this:

Your computer has a disk larger than 512 MB. This version of Windows includes improved support for large disks, resulting in more efficient use of disk space on large drives, and allowing disks over 2 GB to be formatted as a single drive.

IMPORTANT: If you enable large disk support and create any new drives on this disk, you will not be able to access the new drive(s) using other operating systems, including some versions of Windows 95 and Windows NT, as well as earlier versions of Windows and MS-DOS. In addition, disk utilities that were not designed explicitly for the FAT32 file system will not be able
to work with this disk. If you need to access this disk with other operating systems or older disk utilities, do not enable large drive support.
Do you wish to enable large disk support (Y/N)...........? [Y]

4. Press Enter, The following will appear:

Try looking in the BIOS first to see if your computer can handle 80 gig, it very well could be your motherboard that causing it to not see the whole 80 gig. Try flashing your BIOS first and see if you have any luck. Good Luck
