Satellite L855-149 - I want to reinstall Windows OS

Q: Satellite L855-149 - I want to reinstall Windows OS

Does anyone know how to reinstall the windows 8 that came preinstalled on my laptop please?

Is there somewhere that I should contact to get a Windows install disc? I'm guessing/hoping that Toshiba can help?

Just to be clear - I have completely overwritten the windows 8 OS that my L855-149 came preinstalled with. I can't refresh/reinstall from within windows 8, because windows 8 is not on my hdd anymore. I'm wondering how/if I can reinstall the OEM version of Win8 again.

Please help. Thanks

Preferred Solution: Satellite L855-149 - I want to reinstall Windows OS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings friends,
the problem goes like this: I have a TOSHIBA satellite, L855-12N, series notebook.

After updrading to Win 10, some of my keys (a,n, enter) were not working initially.
If I wait for some time, they would start work later.
I find that if I keep pressing a button, (e.g. the button "a") for a long time, I see that it gradually starts to respond, then stop again, then respond - stop, until finally it works OK.
I tried to upgrade the drivers, unistall then reinstall them, but it does not seem to work.
Does anyone know what is happening, or have a suggestion?
Thank you.

A:Satellite L855 - 12N - Keyboard problem after upgrade to Windows 10

Are you 100% it's a Windows 10 issue?
Sounds more like a hardware problem, keyboard may need replacing.

Go into the BIOS and test the keyboard in there.
If it happens in the BIOS as well then replace the keyboard.

If it is a software problem, try uninstalling the touchpad driver via Control Panel, then reinstall it through Windows Update.

Hi all,

I need to change the chasis of my L855-132 (PSKACE-03P007CE) and I don't succeed to find the part numbers needed. Does anyone know the part numbers of the palmrest and bottomcase of this model? Ain't there online any list or map of the laptop components?

I guess some models may only change in some tech specs that would not imply to have a different chasis. Could anyone tell me which are the closests models to L1855-132? That may increase the chances to find new parts.
Thanks in advance

I bought Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 H four or three years ago, It was working all fine but few months ago my video chip stopped working.
Local services offered to heat up video chip , but I don't want that, I need long term sollution.
So I need to replace motherboard, but the problem is that I can't find any thrust worthy place to buy it. I have searched on ebay and other online shops but they seem fishy. Those video chips might be "heated" already. Is it possible to by motherboard directly from Toshiba? I don't need anything else, my CPU, RAM, HDD, fan , everything else is working, except the video chip.
I would be thankful if any of you could recommend me where should I look for motherboard replacement :)

For more information I bought the laptop in Latvia, Product key is : PSKAEE-00UooTG3 ,
Code on motherboard is : DK10FG - 6050A2509901 - MB - A02

Hello, my ac adapter wire just behind the connector has a tear in it and now it refuses to charge the laptop unless it is in a specific position, any sort of movement causes it to disconnect which s annoying. I would like to replace but I'm unsure what ac adapter I need.

I looked at the power brick and it says:

Input 100-240 V-1.6A 50-60 Hz

My laptop is a Satellite l855, what ac adapter will be compatible? I don't want to buy a wrong one where the amp is too high or too low and damage it.

Did you install the Win 8 upgrade assistant?
The Win 8 upgrade assistant helps you to get all Win 8 drivers.

Generally speaking the FN buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package)

The air plane mode disables the BT and WLan as well? this is how it works in Win 8

Hi all,

I've had this laptop nearly 4 years, or is it 5? This morning, I woke up to find it was no longer charging the battery and the computer doesn't recognize an AC adapter plugged into it.

The computer itself works fine. I am not able to update BIOS because it wants me to plug in to AC power to do so, so I had to use nearly all of my remaining battery power to back up the data onto a portable external drive.

Changing outlets did not help. It's the same AC adapter that came with the computer and worked fine all this time.

The battery is now about 7% and I turned it off to save what little juice is left.

Not sure how to address this issue from here onward.

Thanks for any help or input.

I changed to Linux two years ago, and I can't use the Catalyst Centre or offical AMD gpu driver. I wasn't able to upgrade it when I had Windows 8 either (the display was broken into stripes), and I had to dowload the ones made available by Toshiba. I was told back then (2013) that they needed to be "tweaked" for my laptop.

So I would like to know:

1. Does Toshiba offer any support for this problem in Linux?
2. If not, can Toshiba at least explain why they need to tweak AMD drivers? Do they modify the hardware?
3. What exactly needs to be done to get AMD drivers working in a Toshiba laptop in Windows and/or Linux?

Brand new laptop running windows 8.1 Touchpad works for about 30 seconds after windows boots up then stops. Tried downloading latest drivers from Toshiba site but it didn't fix the problem. Tried the touchpad function keys but that is not the issue. Called Toshiba support and they suggested sending it in for a factory reset.

I also have a problem with AMD graphics going split screen after computer goes into a sleep state. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for this on advice of Tech support but not fixed either.

I'm a bit concerned as a search shows both these problems not uncommon and iv'e spent a lot of time copying over data and installing software, don't want to lose it and lose time waiting for factory reset if I have to send ot back.

Original Windows version cannot be downloaded. You have made mistake that you didn't create recovery media (USB or DVD) before you have started to make experiments.

Best option for you is to order original recovery disc for this notebook model.

A:Toshiba Satellite Click 2 Mini - Cannot reinstall Windows OS

So you have re-installed Windows successfully, but when it boots to "first time" settings wizard where you enter the computer name, user name, wifi settings, etc. you can't use the touch screen or keyboard? I've had this issue before as well. If you've done a fresh install of Windows then the drivers for the keyboard and touch screen aren't available. The only way around this is to plug in a USB keyboard. I can't remember exactly but I don't think the full-size USB port on the keyboard dock works until the driver is installed, so you may have to get a USB On The Go adapter so you can plug a full-size USB keyboard in to the microUSB port on the tablet.

A:Satellite A100 - How to reinstall XP?

If you reinstall Windows XP using a Microsoft disk you can choose which partitions on the HDD do you want to delete. At least you have format the first partition of the HDD where the current OS is stored. All other partitions you must delete or format.
Further all files they are stored on the first partition will be deleted. So backup them first!!

After XP installation you have to install some drivers for the notebook. You can download all on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

I hope I could help you a little bit.

If you formatted the HDD before creating an recovery disk, then you will not be able to recover the notebook back to factory settings.

In such case you have two options:

1) you will use an Microsoft installation disk in order to install Windows 7 (you need valid serial key and licence from MS)
2) you will order the recovery disk from Arvato service: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/

My wife?s Toshiba Satellite L300 is driving me nuts! Two of our grandkids got their hands on it recently and made a real mess of it. I knew it had malware and viruses on it so I decided to do the following:-

1. Removed HDD and wiped it clean using the ?KillDisk? software

2. Replaced the HDD and tried to reinstall Win 7 using the installation disk

3 All I get now is the ?Toshiba Leading Innovation? screen which then goes into a blank (black screen) with a flashing cursor which does not accept anything I type into it. There is also a continuous ?beep, beep, beep? which carries on until I switch off.

I?ve managed to get into Boot Manager and have repeatedly changed the boot order to CD/DVD but (just like Catch 22) it goes to the steps I?ve outlined above.

I?ve promised my wife that ?no problem - I can fix this? and will lose a lot face if I have to take it to the local computer repair shop.

Any ideas anybody?

I just uninstalled an old program on this old laptop, when something BAD happened.
I hit OKAY button automatically while reading that it was going to erase everything in the program's subdirectory, and a 2nd directory (didn't catch the name) and a 3rd directory (drive c:/). Not seeing the drive c comment until the split second I hit the OKAY button ... is the beginning of BAD. I'd never seen such an uninstall screen before and thought nothing of it, until after about 15 seconds, I realized the disk activity was going on longer than it should have for uninstalling such a small program (less than 1 meg). So I checked Explorer and saw that the available disk space was getting bigger and bigger, meaning a lot of stuff was getting erased from the hard drive. That's the middle of BAD. So I powered off the laptop hoping I'd be able to at least salvage some of the files. Upon rebooting, sure enough, it would not boot. It came up with the initial WIn98 bootup screen, then a DOS-like screen saying "type in the full path for command.com" or something like that. Did it. Did not work. Accessed bios to change the boot disk order to boot from CD drive first. Inserted a generic std Win98 OS disk (I don't have the original Toshiba disk). Rebooted. CD drive was accessed, but then I guess it found some Win98 stuff on c: drive and then the DOS-like screen saying "type in the full path for command.com" popped up. Tried it repeatedly. No change. Last week I tested it on my Satellite U940 and my answers are as follow:
> is it possible to format completely the hard drive to install a "clean" windows 7
> after doing this, will it be possible to reinstall Windows 8 from USB recovery media that I've created.
> Is the installation of Windows 7 pose a problem? (about the new UEFI; reconnaissence of hardware ...)
Generally speaking no, it is not a problem. Only problem can be installation of some drivers, tools and utilities but I believe you will be able to install it.

I have tested it and there was no problem at all.

Before you start to do anything test recovery USB functionality.

I've had this laptop for a month now and have been trying to get it back into it's original condition. Apparently they've been using a universal power adapter and it was overvolting the laptop at 22V instead of the rated 19V. The battery won't charge which I'm sure is due to that. Anyway most likely from running on adapter only the OS got hosed from being turned off improperly. So I wanted to do a factory reinstall from the recovery partition. Tried system restore to no avail btw.

So from what I've learned recovering a Toshiba laptop back to factory you're supposed to hold down the 0 key turn it on and it should take you to a recovery menu which it does not. There are no beeps but I do see something about recovery in the bottom left hand corner for a split sec, but then it goes to a normal start in safe mode screen. My last option from what I can see is to order a recovery disc direct from Toshiba, couldn't find any images online as far as free goes.

Anybody have any other suggestions before I spend money?

It has Win Vista 32 installed.

The touchpad on my toshiba was not working. I uninstalled the driver after reading some posts. Then I deleted the device. Clearly not my best moment. Now when I go to the start menu I can find the driver, but the device has been removed. Is there a way to reinstall it? I am using Windows 10 and I'm not computer wise....obviously. Thanks for the assistance.

A:Toshiba Satellite C55t-A5222 Touchpad how to reinstall

Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5222 Laptop (PSCF6U-01T00D) - originally came with Windows 8 64-bit

If it's now running Windows 10 64-bit, select that Windows version for the operating system, then select the "Drivers & Updates" tab, then select "Keyboard and touchpad", then select and download the driver.

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then install it.
