How to connect 1080p Lenovo Yoga 920 to 4K monitor?

Q: How to connect 1080p Lenovo Yoga 920 to 4K monitor?

I'm getting a Lenovo 4K laptop soon but in the interim I'm trying to hook up my Lenovo Yoga 920 (which is a 1080p laptop) to a 4K monitor. Do I basically just use the exact same method I used to connect my laptop to a 2K monitor.... so I simply need to use the exact same (USB-C to HDMI) adapter in order to connect it to the 4K monitor and then my moitor will display the 4K res? Thanks in advance for any input!

Preferred Solution: How to connect 1080p Lenovo Yoga 920 to 4K monitor?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I use a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 3rd Gen notebook with the Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 docking station. Since the HDMI output of the yoga can only output 30Hz in 4K, my question is: Can this output output at FullHD resolution of the TV 60Hz or not? Would it otherwise be possible to expand the USB C/Thunderbold connection on the laptop or docking station 1080p/4K 60Hz to TV via HDMI using an adapter/cable? Or would it be possible to connect the DisplayPort docking station port on HDMI to the TV in 1080p/4K 60Hz? Thanks in advance.

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Shall i just stick to the screen and appreciate that it works good in 1600x1200, I mean it isn't that much lower. But I keep dreaming that the screen is originally made for 1080p and that the screen quality wil... Read more

I have a lenovo yoga 910 that I bought about 3 years ago and I recently bought a usb-c to HDMI adapter for me to plug my laptop into an external monitor I have. When I set everything up and turn on the monitor, the monitor recognizes that the laptop's been connected but it says that there is no signal so nothing shows up on the screen. My drivers are updated and I know the problem is not the adaptor since I can connect my phone to the monitor via the adaptor and it works. Please let me know if you have any suggestions to fix this. HELP! I am trying to connect my Dell U2412M 24" monitor to my Lenovo 720 Yoga Laptop.  I need to see a large screen for a spreadsheet for a project that is due immediatelly. I last used this monitor with my prior coputer, with a simple HDMI cable.  No such port on my 720, as far as I can see... 1.  Is there a hidden HDMI port on the 720- Yoga? 2.  If not, Can I use the regular, "box" USB port?  I do NOT need audio, just video. 3.  What specific cable will work?  Cheap is best, this monitor is not touch screen and was in a vehicle file and may not even work well.  It does turn on though... 4.  MUST I use the USB-C port on the Lenovo 720?  I strongly prefer not to, as it is occupied already, and I don't want to buy an expensive double port gizmo.  I just need to hook up this monitor, and quickly, for video. 5.  If I MUST use the USB-C port on the 720, same question as above, what is the CHEAPEST cable or gizmo that I need?  Where to get (Amazon, Best Buy, Micro Center, etc.).  A link to a specific product would be greatly appreciated. I am VERY frustrated!  I tried to contact Micro Center, Dell, Lenovo and Best Buy by chat, phone, etc.  No luck with any of those!  So, please help! Thank you!

I have a Yoga 11s that started having hdmi connection issues about a year ago and has recently quit connecting to an external monitor via HDMI completely. We tried upgrading to Windows 10 to see if that would overwrite any software issues - no luck. The HDMI port actually appears loose. I did an extensive search of the forum and found posts that recommended cutting down the rubber around the base of the hdmi cord - tried that and at least I had a little activitiy - in the upper right hand corner of the external monitor up popped a box that says DVI then VGA then HDMI - but then says No Signal. Tried the graphics card update recommended on a post from long time ago and a popup indicated I had a newer version already installed. I have taken it to a laptop repair place - said they couldn't get parts from Lenovo. I found an "authorized" Lenovo repair shop locally - when I called they said they only work on business machines Called Lenovo and they told me to take it to Best Buy - however since I purchased this directly from Lenovo, Best Buy said they can't work on it. I would rather not send it into Lenovo because they tried to charge my hubby hundreds of dollars when his 15 day brand new laptop quit working, claiming damage - luckily extensive pictures taken and dated prior to sending it in thwarted that attempt at extortion. Does anyone have any suggestions? Hi,

I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 to replace an older Lenovo Thinkpad. I use two laptops with the same peripherals, so I run an external monitor (Dell Ultrasharp 29" monitor), a keyboard, and a mouse into a Display Link Docking Station. I then use a IOGear switch to toggle between the two laptops. The new Lenovo Yoga laptop picks up the keyboard and mouse, but does not identify the external monitor. Below are details on the new laptop.

? 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6500U Processor (2.50GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
? Windows 10 Home 64
? Intel® HD Graphics 520 (graphics card)
My other laptop is an HP ProBook running Windows 7 Professional. All of the peripherals work fine using the docking station and switch (as did the old Lenovo Thinkpad). The only exception is that in my previous configuration, the monitor would periodically not connect with the new laptop when I used the switch, and I would need to restart in order for the monitor to work with the latpop I had selected on the switch. The mouse and keyboard did not have this problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Good afternoon, I have just purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1 3rd Gen laptop.  I am having issues with connecting to a broadband, i.e. cellular, connection.  I have purchased a SIM card from a local cellular carrier, and have verified that the band that this laptop operates on is compatible with their system.  Once I have inserted the card, and powered on the device, I am unable to connect to the broadband connection.  It is just stuck at "connecting". I have verified that the sim card is active, and have gone as far as to swap the sim card from my phone with the one that is in the laptop.  Still having the same issues. I have opened a case with Lenovo support, and unforunately I am receiving the run around with this issue. Anyone have any suggestions on a possible remedy to this issue?

I have a Viewsonic 28" LCD monitor (model vx2835wm) which is pretty good, but not the greatest quality to say the least. It is 1080p supported too.

However, I need something of better quality. My question is the monitor *must* have 1900x1080 resolution specifically to be 1080p supported correct, even if it offers higher resolution options?

Example:
Dell 27" UltraSharp Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

Higher resolutions, 1920x1200 too, but not 1920x1080 specifically. Would this be a bad idea for Blu-Ray movies (my Sony laptop has a built in Blu Ray player)?

A:LCD 1080p Monitor?

Not a problem, as long as it has 1080p support over the *relevant* inputs (eg, some 24" monitors support 1080p on VGA and DVI, but not on component input etc), so you will have to check the specs of the monitor you intend to buy.

If it has 1:1 pixel mapping, or scaling on those inputs, you should even be able to view the movie at the correct aspect ratio. PC widescreen LCD monitors have 16:10 aspect ratio while HDTVs are 16:9. So, your 1920x1080 video will be seen with small black bars along the top and bottom of a 1920x1200 LCD, but with the correct ratio of height and width. Ofcourse, you will still be able to 'fill the monitor screen' if you choose, but with the penalty of slight distortion of the image.

1:1 Scaling can be achieved either via your PC graphics card (if Nvidia) or through the configuration settings on your monitor. Note that not all monitors offer 1:1 mapping, and IIRC, some ATI video cards lack this feature too.

Hello! When I connect my Yoga 900 laptop to my Samsung external monitor using a USB-C/HDMI adapter, the laptop screen flashes black and the external screen does nothing. Between the flashes I can see my desktop background goes blue and every program/file that is open begins popping up and closing on repeat. Nothing ever shows on the external monitor. The only fix is to unplug the two, but if I let the laptop flash for more than about a minute it eventually goes black. When this happens, unplugging it from the monitor does nothing and it has to be manually restarted using the side button. As noted in other forum solutions, I manually updated all video and chip drivers.I have tested the monitor's HDMI port, the Yoga 900's USB-C port, and the HDMI cable itself. I have also tried a different brand of USB-C adapter. Pressing Windows + P doesn't seem to do much, as I can see the menu between the flashes and click "expand" but nothing happens. Any idea what else I can do? Thank you.

Hi All, I have been scouring through the forums to try and support my Yoga 910 and USB-C thinkpad docking station. Thanks to all of your posts, I have solved the following: 1. Docking station works but needs 2 USB-C cables, one for displaying data, one for power. For the power I used the actual lenovo charging cable because I dont want to chance trying the usb-usb-c option. 2. I can get it to work with the external monitor now My problem now, is that despite getting the picture to work with a DisplayPort -> HDMI cable, the picture is horrible. Using applications like Outlook, the pages arent defined now. text is exceptionally fuzzy. My laptop is configured to 4k, but the monitor is only 1080p, I am not willing to lower the resolution on the laptop, but are there other options? I run the same setup on my surfacebook and it works fine. I really love the Yoga 910, but the docking solution is pretty poor, so I hope this is just some resolution configuration I am missing. I am using a Dell U2414H - and with the DisplayPort cable being this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B015OW3GJK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I noticed it only supports up to 1080p which I hoped would be ok, but is that my mistake? Is the laptop putting out a 4k feed and the cable isnt liking it? Please let me know.
