Replacement for missing built-in battery X260

Q: Replacement for missing built-in battery X260

Hello!I've recently bought a X260 without the internal battery. Now I'd like to add a 3-cell internal battery for longer unplugged time. What part numbers can I use on the X260? I've found a local shop selling a 45N1108 part that they say is designed for the T440 and for the X240. Would it be possible to use that battery on my X260? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have purchased a Lenovo x260 with extended 72WhHr battery. When checking the battery status in Windows 10 it advises me my external battery is charging however the internal battery says: "Battery not available for use" I have checked the following t460 thread below:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460-Built-In-battery-NOT-available-for-... This is exactly the same problem I am having and I have tried all suggestions in that thread already.  My BIOS version is also the very latest. Does anybody have any ideas why it says this? - Checked all software drivers all up to date- Reset PC - Checked device manager which shows the 2 batteries- Ensured internal battery is set to enabled in BIOS

I received a laptop that isn't mine in the mail from the Lenovo repair center. I don't know how this happened, but the package was addressed to me and contained a laptop with a decorative skin or sticker of some kind that definitely doesn't belong to me. There was a paper in the box that said it was sent in for a battery replacement or repair and a case number but no name or contact info for the person it belongs to. I haven't removed the laptop from the plastic wrap it came in and I imagine that whoever it belongs to is very worried/frustrated at this point. I received it more than a month ago. I have called Lenovo 5 times asking them to send me a shipping label to figure out what happened and how the laptop can get back to its rightful owner. They have yet to send me a shipping label or even acknowledge that any progress has been made to figure out what the next step is. Each and every time I am told that a mysterious case manager will call me. They won't give me the phone number or email of the case manager and no one has called me. I find it completely ridiculous that no one has contacted me or followed up after 5 phone calls from someone saying they have a laptop that doesn't belong to them. This is incredibly irresponsible on the part of Lenovo. Its been a month and a half!  If you are missing your laptop and it sounds like it could be the one I have here, please reply and we'll figure out a way to verify that it belongs to you and get your laptop back to... Hi,We purchase Lenovo laptops from our local supplier in the UK, for all of our EU 7 Asia/Pacific sales teams. We used to be able to buy older model (like the X200/X201) with non English EU or Asian keyboards, like German, Danish & Japanese. However, with hte newer models, (like the X240, X250, and now X260), we've just been told by our supplier (Insight) that we can only buy UK keyboards. How can we get hold of other language keyboards? We can't expect sales members to buy and fit these, so they need to be purchased and fitted either by our supplier, or us!Any help would br greatly appreciated! Many thanksBen

So, I bought the laptop because many reviews and even Lenovo's website tout HUUUUGE battery life with the X260 and the 7cell battery. So I pulled the trigger and got one. Here's the article I used:http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/thinkpad-x260-full-hd-battery-life I have the 1920x1080 screen. Windows 10 reports about 9 hours of possible use time.  I haven't really loaded anything special on Windows 10 yet which would even chew into the battery life. What's going on here? NOTE: I haven't tested actual use time to see if Windows resets or cleans up the amount of life remaining. I plan to exhaust the battery to see how long it really does go.. but wanted to get some opinions if I have maybe a problem system / battery. Thanks.

I have over a dozen Thinkpad models at my disposal (from T400's to T450's, and X230's to X260's) and just lately was asked by someone to look into battery options for the X260. Take a look at this page: https://support.lenovo.com/ch/en/solutions/pd027968 There are 2 batteries shown - the 3-cell 23.5Wh (68) and the 6-cell 72Wh (68+). But there is no mention of the 6-cell 47Wh battery (also 68+). But how did I get to this page? After searching and searching ... and more searching ... through PSREF's, part number sheets etc ... I looked at the FRU on the battery of an X260 I bought recently (45N1735) and searched for it online -> On the bottom of the second page of Google search was the very first Lenovo link ... the above linked-to page. But when I bought this X260 the only battery options given to me were the 6-cell 72Wh and 6-cell 47Wh - no 3-cell 23.5Wh option whatsoever. And even though the part number of the 6-cell 47Wh is on the page (45N1735) there is no mention of it's Wh's or anything else to distingush it from the 72Wh. And now, if you look at this page under 'Hardware compatibility' for both batteries it's written 'ThinkPad T440s' and below that 'Note: For the latest updates on the compatible systems, please refer to the Accessories Compatibility Guide.'. Then you go to this 'Accessories Compatibility Guide' and end up having to download an Excel spreadsheet (no, I am not kidding!). REALLY Lenovo!?!?&... Read more

Hello, When on battery power, my X260's internal battery is discharging before the external battery. I am using Windows 10 Home and bios is 1.19 (what it came shipped with). I haven't found any definite solution to this problem--only comments from others where the problem went away eventually. I've had the computer for 10 days and have tried many suggestions but nothing is working--the internal battery continues to drain first before the external one. I'm hesitant to call or get support because I don't want to send the computer in or have a tech rip the computer apart for what is apparently a software/firmware issue. Just to add: all drivers are updated and battery performance is perfectly normal--I get the expected run times. It's just the internal battery is draining first and then the external one second. I would appreciate any other suggestions or a fix. Thanks

New Lenovo x260 and I love the machine. I noticed that the system uses the internal battery and discharges it to 5 percent before switching to the external battery. This behavior seems contrary to what is stated in the Lenovo settings application that indicates the swappable 3- or 6-cell battery (i have both) will be discharged first, then the internal battery is discharged. It then charges in the reverse order -- internal battery charges first, then the external battery. Is this something that can be adjusted? Will the system occasionally use the internal battery first? I am using only genuine Lenovo external batteries and both are healthy and get used and charged just fine. The only thing that I can imagine I've done to create the problem is by reinstalling the system image from a recovery disk I created before doing anything with the machine. That story: The instant I booted into Windows 10 for the first time upon recieving the new machine, I created recovery media. I formatted the machine and tried to install Windows 10 professional using a serial I own but I encountered an activation issue. As a result, I abandoned my effort to run a clean install, booted the USB recovery key I created and restored the system to the Lenovo factory state with all the drivers installed and the nifty Thinkpad wallpaper, and so on. So I am using the system with a factory image. Or is this just normal behavior? Thanks in advance.

I have received my new X260 laptop a month ago (also my first Lenovo), I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and a bunch of drivers. It has been working well until now. Two days ago, I used it all-day with original adaptor plugged in. At the end of the day, I unplugged it and close the lid to put it to Sleep mode before I left work. The day after, I came to work and found my X260 battery was at 5%. I thought I have mistakenly set the Power Option so I checked and it was set to Sleep when I close the lid. Yesterday, I did the same, put it to Sleep before leaving work, but this time I clicked Start > Power icon > Sleep to make sure it entered Sleep mode and I watched the red LED on the lid blink slowly. Today I came to work and the battery was at 5% again! I am suspecting that X260 woke up at some point during the night. I don't know how, no cables connected. Please guide me if I need to update any driver or check any settings on Windows/BIOS. Thank you.

Hi all, appologies for the long post. I am using Windows 7 and re-building an image for the Lenovo X260 as a few users have reported an error with Power Point in Office 2010.  When on battery Power Point slide shows won't advance through the slides, it just stops and won't move to next slide on keypress or mouse click, on mains power it works fine, I had a mess around with a users laptop that has the issue and installing Lenovo System Update and installing all the available updates and drivers solved the problem so I re-created the image on another X260 and the problem returned but now, installing Lenovo System update and all software & drivers doesn't fix the issue, this is on a clean install of Windows 7. when the slide show pauses I can press the Windows key and click Power Point and there is a little box that says Resume slide show, clicking this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, all windows updates are installed, if I use an external keyboard and mouse it works OK, I've tried disabling all power management in BIOS and Windows, the only permanent fix I've found that works everytime is to disable Hardware Acceleration in Office settings but some of the docs users have are massive so don't want to cause any slowdowns or issues (plus it's anoying that I can't find another solution even though it worked on a users laptop) Anyone else seen this issue or have an idea of a fix Cheers

Initially my device was working just fine. Of late though (I don't know exactly when) I've noticed that only the internal battery discharges - then takes me to low power, plug in your charger, without discharging the external battery. I've installed all the latest updates for drivers and BIOS. With the laptop plugged in, the external battery is charging. But when I disconnect the AC it tells me the internal battery is 'in use' and gives me an estimated battery life based only on the single internal battery.

Hi,
I am writing this as I have hopelessly tried all methods found online without success.
I have an XPS 15 bought in France. I move to Singapore and my original DELL AC adapter was spoiled. So I went to the nearest store and bought a third party adapter. Everything works out fine for a while... Now, my laptop won't charge anymore (stuck at 90%).
My laptop only turn on if it is plugged under ac adapter. When I unplug the ac adapter, my laptop turn off.
When I turn on my laptop it says "this battery charging is temporarily disabled, press F2 for entering BIOS Menu". In BIOS, under battery health it is said "this battery is temporarily disabled, please turn off the computer and try again when the unit is back to operational temperature" I have this problem systematically, my laptop is not heated.
I even bring it to a repair shop here in Singapore; but they do not even have the parts to test.
Please help.
I am willing to buy a new battery or new adapter, but I am not even sure if that's the problem.

Thank you

I think with batteries the big thing is Watt/Hours. (Don't quote me on that tho)
You might be better off using the same battery as the one you had before, simply for the sake of reliability.
It also will depend on what you use this laptop for.

Hello, I am running LenovoX260 with Windows 7, I additional installed the lenovo updatecenter. All drivers are updated according to lenovo7 update center. Symptom: Basically, when the machine boots on battery all keyboard strokes are delayed for roughly 5 seconds or an easy touch of touchpad or trackpoint -- whatever comes first. The machine has not a high load at this time and no keystroke is lost. It is just delayed strongly. To make it more complicate, this symptom disappears until next reboot when I lock the screen with win+l and reunlock the screen with my password. It also disappears when I plugin the powerplug, but it also reappears when I unplug it again on the login screen. Once I relogged/unlocked this effect does not reappear. Booting with power plugged in is fine. Any ideas?

Recently I have purchased a T460 Laptop from Lenovo Authorized Store. When checking battery status from Taskbar, the Built In Battery shows the Error: Battery 1 is not available for use. I have checked the "Batteries" section in Device Manager and found there 3 sub options. On double clicking the option for Internal Built In Battery, it says: " The device is working properly ". Checked the BIOS and Internal Battery is set to " Enabled " . I have gone through Google search results and various solutions proposed here in the forum for similar issues with T440/T440p laptops but they didn't helped so far.  Any suggestions here ? Best Regards,Nitesh

Hi, guys!My laptop is constantly plugged in when I use it and according to my personal experience, Acer's own guidelines from the user manual and this link here http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2384/~/how-to-charge-and-care-for-your-acer-battery on how to extend battery life, this can severly affect it, so it should better be removed.  Unfortunately the built-in battery of my model is not easily removable like on my previous laptops, so I'd like to know, if I open the bottom cover and remove the baterry, will this void my warranty and will the laptop funtion without the battery?
