Q: Biggest CPU Cooler possible: Noctua NH-U12A 120 MM CPU Cooler in Thinkcentre M92p Tower Case.

Hi, anyone knows wether a 120 MM CPU Cooler will phyiscally fit in a M92p Tower case? The cooler is 158 mm high in total. I think the Thinkcentre case is 175 MM wide. But You also have to consider that there is a Motherboard and CPU inbetween. WIll that fit or do I have to go for a smaller 92MM Cooler? Anyone tried this before?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyoneI have bought second-hand my M92P SFF (3218) and I intend to boost it a bit. Things that I want to do involve upgrading the RAM (to 16GB) and -this is where I need help- if possible, the CPU.I have seen a model of my very PC with the i7-3770 (3.4GHz). Can I simply swap the current i5-3470 for an i7-3770? Will it work or will I have issues? I mean like the BIOS not "seeing" the processor etc...Also, how much of an improvement in speed / graphics ability could I see with such a "swap".Anyone knowing an answer for sure I would wholeheartedly welcome his/her help.

Yes, upgrade to i7-3770 (the top processor for this model) is possible, and as it's the same wattage as existing i5, there are no cooler issues.  But benchmarks show less than a 20% improvement, and in my past experience, you need 35%+ to make a noticable difference.   IMO, you'd be better off changing the HDD to a SSD for a performance improvement.

There have been a few threads about the propreitary 14pin PSU connectors and that there's no aftermarket support for upgrades. But it's been a little while, and Lenovo (around the office, my staff are calling them "Le-No-No" now) hasn't change policy, or offered an upgrade.

We have just received several of these i7 PC's and they all have the useless 280w PSU's. Those are severely limiting in what video cards can be installed, as anything over 55w will knock the PSU over. That means, no decent cards. A Quadro 2000 is, at 51W, about as far as we can go.

My CDW rep has been working to find a solution for us, but without any success. So I'm bringing it to the community before I have to re-evaluate our desktop hardware choice.

Has anybody made either an adapter or a PSU that will work on the Lenovo 14-pin motherboards?

(Oh, and yes, I've read http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/A-M-and-Edge-Series-ThinkCentre/M92P-14pin-power-supply-connector/m-p/84... . No help there. Thought I'd post a clear question here in hopes that someone has started making adapters.)

Hello all, new to this forum. I bought a Cooler Master chipset cooler for my Asus P4P800-E Deluxe. I was checking my GPU fan when I touched the cooler and it was hot, I mean HOOOTTT, like cant touch it for more than a second hot.

The fan is spinning the 5K revs it runs in but its super hot anyway. I gave my stock cooler away and this is what I have. The MB temperature is normal, 37c and cpu 32c fanless at idle. I dont know where that MB sensor is located but the chipset must be over 40c at least.

Whats the best chipset cooler out there. My MB has an Intel 845 chipset. (i need an upgrade!)

My Antec P180 (provides great ventilation with 4 120mm fans) case is sitting standing up like its meant to be and I was reading in another forum that some heatpipes dont like to be sideways, could this be the case?

A:Problem with Cooler Master chipset cooler RUNNING HOT!

chipsets have a higher heat tolerence than CPUs, 40c is a safe operating temp. also, temp sensors are not accurate, so you can't really go by the reading from it anyways. it's not unusual for software based sensor to be as much as 10c off the actual temp.

the cooler you bought should work fine. did you thoroughly clean the chipset and heatsink with isopropyl alcohol and then apply new thermal compound before mounting the cooler?

I upgraded my GPU recently and noticed that my CPU fan was making more noise than I remembered - sort of a droning noise.  I checked my CPU temps and discovered that, at idle, the CPU was hitting 38-42C.
I decided to upgrade my cooling.  The main limitation (besides the fact that Dell has a non-standard CPU backplate setup) is the somewhat narrow case on the XPS 8900 doesn't allow installation of most of the inexpensive high-performance coolers because they are too tall by 1/2" - 3/4".  Then I found the Cyrorig H7, which has three heat pipes, a huge heatsink, and 120mm fan all in a package that is "only" 145mm high - just short enough to fit in the case.  I installed it yesterday and it works GREAT.  Very happy with it, initially at least.
I also swapped out the stock Sunon case fan for a Cooler Master Blade Master 92mm fan, which is quieter but similar CFM specs.
Overall the computer is now quieter at 100% load than it was at idle before.  And my CPU temps have dropped by 15 degrees C.  Great upgrade.  I made a video on how I did it here:

Which case has the potential to be cooler (temperature wise)? I like both of them, so this is what its going to come down to. My rig is going to be very hot especially when I put a second X1900XT in there so I need a case thats good with airflow. My guess is that the Raidmax one is cooler because it has more fans but someone told me that those two side fans only mess up the front-back air flow that you want in a case... that would make the Coolermaster for the win. But.......

What case is for the win? I dont know anything about cooling so I need your opinions!

Hello, I have a Thinkcentre M77 SFF that I bought off of newegg a few years back. For fun I want to drop a Phenom II x4 965 125w onto the board, which I have just laying around. I was wondering if a cooling bracket would damage the m77 board when applying force? Since the alternate fan I have for the phenom uses clamps and a cooling mount bracket seems to be required Or would the stock fan and heatsink work for the 965?  Also, when it comes to a power supply upgrade are there any more powerful psu out in the markets which would work in the original slim factor case? I can only find 240w replacements online and I am not sure if I will be able to meet the full power requirements when installing the gpu if 240w isn't enough. The upgrade build plan is.Phenom II x4 9652 more 2gb samsung 1333hz sticks (being sent in the mail as I write this)(I haven't decided yet to add) either a geforce 730 or a 1030 lowprofile The bracket I ordered is the "Black Cooler Fan Stand Bracket Base for AMD AM2 Socket PC Computer" on newegg So if anyone can help me to figure all this out I would be grateful. I still plan on putting in the extra ram regardless if I cannot upgrade the cpu. The bracket was fairly cheap and knowing it may not work was in the back of my mind upon purchasing it.

Hi guys,
I am purchasing a new motherboard (G/B GA-EP45-UD3P) and a CPU Cooler (Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme) for my PC. However, I read that the CPU Cooler is 16cm high, and I am worried that it might not fit in my Antec Nine Hundred Two case. I got out a ruler and measured from my motherboard to the end of the case, and it reached 17.5cm, but I'm still not sure if it will fit or not. Also, if you could suggest another CPU Cooler that is better, which there pretty much isn't, that would be appreciated.

I'm in the process of building a new PC. I have all the parts on order and they should arrive today. I was looking at the case and a few other parts and got to thinking exactly how I should setup the airflow in the case. Normally I would just do top / back exhaust and side / front intake. The problem is I'm using Corsair liquid cooling so that will take my back exhaust. My question is, with the case I have, what type of fans should I use and where? Also, which fans should be exhaust and intake?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The case I'm getting is a Cooler Master HAF 912.

The Liquid Cooling I'm using is Corsair H50.

(I'd link them for you but I currently cant link urls ).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The case has the following slots in it for fans:

Cooling System:
-Front: 120 mm fan x 2 or 200mm fan x1
-Top: 120 mm fan x 2 or 200mm fan x 1
-Rear: 120 mm fan x 1
-Side:120mm or 140 mm fan x 1

It comes with two 120's obviously and I'm putting the liquid cooling fan / radiator in the back fan slot. The problem with that is the radiator blocks one of the top 120 slots so I can either go 1x 120mm on top or a 200mm on top. I'm putting a 120mm on the side of the case as well. The case also comes with a 120mm in front and has room for another, or you can swap the two 120mm's for a 200mm.

The stock fans should be enough, but I have a feeling you are going to do a massive over-clock, so every piece of hardware will be affected. The rule is:

hello, all

I'm looking at a build based around the core i5 2500k. Usage is for general computing with light gaming (Starcraft 2). the the i5 2500k is probably overkill for that, but i also enjoy having a really good computer for no real reason! (this build is for personal fun as well)

goals:
overclocked 2500k
quiet pc, stylish look that won't scare off my gf

Question:
what is a good cooler that will sustain the 2500k @ around 4.4GHz? I've looked at the H70, but will something like the H50 (with one less fan) suffice? Or what if I change the fans on either of these coolers?

Im looking at the antec p183. does anyone have experience with how quiet this case is?

I appreciate your help. The overall budget is $1000 CAD before tax (which is 13%)

A:i5 2500k overclock, quiet cooler and case?

I'm running an i7 2600K at 4.6GHz with the H50 cooler. Have two Akasa viper fans on the radiator, but to be honest the default single fan that comes with it isn't too poor. Given that stress testing on the i7 version has to deal with 8 threads the i5 with only 4 should probably be fine with the H50 and default fan for running at 4.4GHz. Only thing is that I got mines with the hope of pushing the overclock a bit higher but find I'm up at 70C with extreme stress testing at 4.6 so mostly it's just a quieter solution to most air only coolers, if you want more headroom in the future I'd probably spend the little extra and grab the H70, or a proper non sealed loop water cooling setup.

I have the 212+ as well. You'd want one push and 1 pull. Also, make sure the 2nd fan moves the same amount of air as the 1st, or you'll create a bottleneck of sorts. But with 2 fans that have equal airflow, you will notice a drop in temps. But there will be more noise, unless you change both fans to a quiet fan like Noctua's. A Guy

I have an M92p tower that i would like to upgrade the gpu with an RTX 2080 TI. here is a link to the specifiactions of my desktop. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/thinkcentre/m-series-towers/m92p/ I have an i7 processor. Am not a gamer, and will strictly use it for mining crypto. Anyway, wondering if the motherboard on this desktop will be compatible with the RTX. Am not sure if this is the motherboard model no but it says ASM (03T7083). I know i would also have to switch out the power supply, so if this motherboard is compatible with the RTX, i would really appreciate if i could also get suggestions on a compatible power supply that would provide at least 600watts. Thanks in advance for all the replies.

Hello,I have the same problem with this **bleep**ty power management. 280w with no option of an upgrade... What did they think when they built this? however I did some research and found this:http://www.moddiy.com/products/IBM-Lenovo-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-14%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%283... Did anyone try this yet? Can it be used safe on the system? And will it do the work that it should do?

I have a Lenovo M92p tower on its way to upgrade with some ram and an RX 570. The motherboard is an IS7XM REV 1.0, and I was wondering if it supported the 570. This is my first post, so if I need to give some more information about the PC I gladly will. Thanks!

Hello guys  So I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre  M92p Tower (machine type 2992).  I recently obtained a MSI R7 250 2GD3 OC and am currently trying to install it. I followed the manual and removed the proper back plates and opened the living mechanism. However  when i try to fit the card in it is just a couple millimeters off and it won't slide down.  Am i doing something wrong or is my card incompatible with my case?  Thank you

I would like to upgrade my GTX 960 to a 1070. My concern is if the motherboard can support a GTX 1070. I have already replaced the power supply so that is not an issue. Just would like to verify before I make a purchase.

Hi there,I recently got a ThinkCentre M92p (model 3227K75) with a CPU i5-3470 (3.2Ghz), 32Gb of RAM, large SSD and an nVidia GeForce GT1030.I have seen lot's of not up to dated forum regarding the upgrade options for this computer so I hope you don't mind if I make this question again: what's the best upgrade I can do, with appreciable result, for CPU and GPU? Other question: can I go for 64Gb of RAM? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!Gennaro

I'm sure there is a storage limitation, but not as nearly as low as 1 TB.  (And it maybe more a function of the OS.)

I got a refurb M92P with (according to the specs) an 80 watt PS (?). To upgrade I thought I'd at least try the Lenovo 240 watt (since the footprint is identical). Anyway, got it, hooked up the 24 to 14 pin adapter cable, and plugged it in. The unit wouldn't boot, kept turning on/off every couple seconds, so I shut it down and replaced the original PS. Anyone heard of that happening? It seems odd that I read of other people hooking up 3rd party PSs with the adapter cable with no problem, yet a Lenovo  made PS does this? Also, I'd hate to buy a 3rd party PS and experience the same thing. At least with the Lenovo PS the vendor accepts returns. Any insights appreciated.

I tried updating the BIOS on my M92p tiny and now I don't see the bios screen or any output. I have tried the BIOS recovery steps in the manual:- The system doesn't beep after a few minutes with a USB BIOS recovery key (tested and usb is bootable on another pc)- The system turns on but doesn't show any output or errors- I burned a BIOS CD but when plugging the CD drive into the internal sata + sata power it doesn't get powered- I tried the CD drive while being powered from another pc and then plugging the sata in - didn't do anything- The system will ramp up the fan for a split second and then the fan slows down and the system stays on- Sometimes the system will reboot a few times and then go off completely. - Taking the RAM out gives the RAM error beep code- The CPU gets hot so it must be powered at least?- I left the CMOS battery out overnight I have a vga cable plugged in, it's possible that it's outputting on the displayport so I'm not seeing anything but I find that very unlikely? Anything I've missed or could try? If not, any idea how much a replacement motherboard is?  Cheers

Hi, so, I have a m92p, and want to upgrade my gpu to a 570, 580, 1060, or something of the like. I don't want a 1050ti, though I know it would run on the 75 watt pcie. Also, would I be bottlenecked by pcie 2.0? (if it is, finding mixed info) I see a 4 pin for the psu, then another 8 pin by a 14 pin. Do I need the 8 pin by the 14 pin occupied? I've seen adapters for a 24 pin to a whatever it was, 14, but then that doesn't occupy the other 8 pin. Btw it keeps saying aw snap when I try to upload a pic, so no luck there. Any help?
