Unable to remove "Search with Bing" from Internet Explorer 11 right click search

Q: Unable to remove "Search with Bing" from Internet Explorer 11 right click search

I have a phantom item that says "search with bing" on my right click menu in IE11, which I can't remove.  It doesn't appear in the list of search providers in IE options, only the right click menu.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I think the Bing bar comes as part of win 7 install on a lot of computers so you should find it in add remove programs
and be able to uninstall it from their.

I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this..My computer caught a virus and screwed up the admin account. I managed to get that bug removed. Since then, I have problems when I click the results from search engines. When I click search results, I get sent to different sites. I typically use Google Chrome but it's happened on Bing as well. For example, I did a google search on "virus removal". The link on the Google page was for "www.symantec.com/security_response/removaltools.jsp" but when I click the link, it goes to "http://answers.nixxie.com/s.php?k=virus%20removal&adid=13190&ts=1001SMA_A14&subid=263328-165793-133-27681&click=1609561864-41d3.11f1.50788005.3b97&ref=http://market-find.com/index.php?search=virus%20removal"Cicking "www.kaspersky.com › Support" takes me to "http://r.looksmart.com/og/pr=Psr;ro=1;rc=4;digest=2318dc8762ee3009c073e486df8a499b;kid=6f71bb91533de8f9bb8d92689e59bf39;t=1350074566;v=8;data=gg1A2cbB_NiFMmKDDBkRvp9xLNM-gHzw1ipDmvpgzJM7kA2vsa63GrjukRD6oalWiDGbgjD4_lX7zIN4HI9nmNM701OzoDmp2aba_b-8rQiuWrRnSR6SldsYzIg9duKKiVELnFMfFbijvsXXHu4z3OBZgeOJjsbbEsL9UNuMEytcIVbfpvA8EA;uh=157x17525143547048890673;la=2438185;lm=3039186;ad=756865385;ag=766460146;kw=1609561864;qt=virus%20removal;vr=17;lt=EM;ip=50.80.167.198;pt=;st=118.25.90.0.0.0.0;os=929.249.9.0.4.230.2.6;sy=keyword;my=smart;geo=894417;vid=0;subid=137419-386-27681;opi=bizz_main;lg=0;sqid=610B9C4C-14AD-11E2-A738-E60E0A2C1E10... Hi,

After using Spybot, latest version, my wife's computer still has a malware infection which after doing a search and clicking a link, gets redirected to some other site, probably a pay per click site. After searching I found hijackthis and it was recommended to post the log file here for help in determining what entries are suspect. I thought I was fairly knowledgable, but getting into the registry and knowing what is a problem is not my comfort area. Hopefully it is for someone here. This is the log file.

Thanks,
Mark

Help! How do I permanently remove bing search engine on my computer? I have tried searching for advice on this and nothing helps: Wikihow says to insert an html (well I can't even identify that) someone else said to locate bing in search engine add-ons (it doesn't even show up) and someone else said to type about.config in the filter bar - where is it?? Nothing is showing up as it should according to these gurus.

I am using Firefox. If I use IE bing stays hidden but I like Firefox and don't want this blasted thing on my computer. Any ideas - thanks in advance. Please use nice simple instructions.

Solved:
Guess what? If you use Firefox, here is a nice simple solution that does not remove bookmarks or files. Open Firefox, select help, troubleshooting issues, refresh Firefox. Select refresh only what I want, Firefox will reset to default. When done close window and reset home page. Easy as. FYI a file named Old Firefox Stuff will appear on your desktop in case you need anything from it. Many thanks to Chris for this info.

14 May 2014 I did an auto d/l of Adobe and then Bing Search Bar showed up in both Firefox and Chrome. There is nothing in add-ons to disable, nor in Control Panel to uninstall. I've changed the search page default but Bing keeps taking over. It's probably taken over IE too but I never use that unless absolutely necessary. I hate MS and the way they try to own our computers!!

Is there a way to get rid of Bing eternally and fairly easily?

Thanks for any suggestions/help.

A:trying to remove Bing Search bar in Firefox and Chrome

If you can find something called Search Protect in your list of programs, uninstall it.
If no luck,
For Google Chrome, you'll have to manually remove those "globally" installed extensions.

Here's how:

http://www.howtogeek.com/140464/how-...ome-extension/

Some may need to be removed from the registry, others, from Chrome’s extension folders.

For Firefox,

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Copy/paste the following command:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Press Enter.

Open the searchplugins folder.

Delete the xml file(s) related to Bing.

If still no luck,
Please download AdwCleaner.
Double-click the adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click Scan.
When the scan is finished, click Clean.
When the cleaning process is over, click Report and a Notepad window will be opened.
Please post the contents here in your topic.

Hi, I've lurked for years but I work at a small MSP with a retail storefront.  I'm a on-site server/networking guy but I'm covering for the in-store service technician position while we hire a replacement.  I've got a couple PCs on the bench that I cannot stop the Internet Explorer from opening an amazonaws compute instance that redirects to http://search.searchbulls.com as the first homepage.  So far I've done the following with this systems:

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking
Run full TRON script from https://www.reddit.com/r/TronScript/comments/3coyyp/tron_v639_20150709_adobe_flash_update_subtool/
Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Run ADWCleaner
Run ESET NOD32 Full Scan
Run and examine HiJackThis logs (cannot find entry that would be causing the behavior)
Run and examine AUTORUNS logs (cannot find entry that would be causing the behavior)
Check HOSTS and LMHOSTS files
Run Hitman Pro
Remove extensions from Firefox, Chrome, and Opera
Perform full reset on Internet Explorer 11
Search registry for any entries referring to amazonaws or searchbulls (none found)
After this all browsers work wonderfully except for Internet Explorer, which works fine and no longer redirects search results EXCEPT for the fact that the FIRST homepage always opens up an amazonaws which redirects to search.searchbulls.com.  Additional homepages open fine upon launching IE.  No matter what I set the first homepage to, it will always end up at search.searchbulls.com.

One of the computers on a small office peer to peer network is unable to access google, bing and yahoo search engines. I updated Malwarebytes and ran a scan and it found 2 infections of Rogue.AntiMalwareLab which it quarantined and deleted successfully. I posted a copy of Malwarebytes log info below for your review. Still being unable to access the above search engines I flushed the dns cache and ran a winsock fix program to see if possibly damaged tcp/ip stacks or lsp were the problem. Still no success. The problem is any search website comes up with page can't be found: Google.com, Bing.com, Yahoo.com comes up but when I try a search it does nothing. I have no issues going to any other website, just search websites.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011 and no third party firewall.

AVG scan is clean. Malwarebytes scan is clean. Ccleaner has been run. I have reset IE 8 settings to default. I have flushed the DNS. I have run HiJackThis and don't see any problems. I have checked the host file and there are no strange entries.

I need to know what to try next. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Seems there is a problem with adding a search provider via Internet Exlorer gallery as all the links for the search providers are not working. Whether you I try to add google, yahoo, wikipedia or even bing (although bing is the default search provider
I'm trying to change). When you click on "Find more providers" on the drop down options on the top right corner of the internet page, it links to this page- http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/AddonsIE7 which has all the list of search providers.
However the "Add to Internet Explorer" links on all the providers listed do not work.

I contacted the Answer Desk to report this and they were everything but helpful. They advised me to reset my IE8, restart it and try to add the search provider again and that didn't work. When I tried to explain the problem was with the webpage they kept
saying the page does not belong to microsoft which is really weird since "2015 Microsoft" is written at the bottom of the page. I got other colleagues including some at different locations and they seem to have the same problem.
I found a resolution to the problem on my own though and it looks like everything may have been moved to a different webpage. If you go via http://www.iegallery.com/AddonsIE7 instead, all the links seem to work just fine and I was able to add google
and wikipedia as search providers. Unfortunately. IE8 comes configured to direct to the "en-gb" website wh... Read more

I have reset IE, removed any reference to Tuvaro. disabled addins etc.

I basically followed these instructions...

Please direct me where to look for this bug, I tried to find in Registry, and I am not afraid to use registry editor, the next step will be to re-install windows... which I don't want to do.

thanks for any help

A:Unable to remove Tuvaro Search

ok, we found the problem was simply in the shortcut where tuvaro had modified the link so that when IE launched it would go straight to the fake search page.

Maybe you guys could update the instructions because I didn't see that mentioned anywhere. It seems so obvious now, IE reset does not go deep enough to fix the shortcut.

If it's not in Add/Remove and you can't find it Programs...take a look at your browser add-ons...and disable/delete it.

With IE open...Tools/Manage Add-ons.

(XPSP2) When I double click on a folder in the Windows Explorer right-hand pane, it opens a search box instead of simply exploring the folder. Can anyone advise me how to turn it back to the normal behaviour?

This situation arose after I did some registry tidying to get rid of a much more irritating problem. So it won't surprise me if there is some registry key I still need to change.

I have used ADD/DELETE programs to remove Babylon, I deleted the folder in PROGRAMS and I have search the entire C drive for anything having to do with Babylon. Ran registry mechanic and STILL, when I enter something in the url bar, it automatically default to the babylon search. This happens in both IE and FIREFOX. The home page is set to Bing and there is NO add-ons that deal with Babylon. In essence, I cannot find BABYLON anywhere on my computer and yet, it automatically defaults as the search engine when using the url bar at the top of my browser to search. I have TRIED everything. No utility like Spyware Doctor, System Mechanic, Spybot, Malware Bytes or any other has been able to find any issues. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A:How do I remove Home Search Assistant, Search Extender and Shopping Wizard?

First of all, you have to unzip Hijack This and save it to a folder of its own in programs files so it can create proper back-ups and function properly.

First click: http://forums.techguy.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=44318

to download cwsserviceremove.zip and unzip it to your desktop and have it ready to run later.
___________________________________________________________________________

Click http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html to download CWShredder. Do Not run it yet. Download it to the desktop and have it ready to run later.

____________________________________________________________________

Click: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/AboutBuster.zip to download AboutBuster created by Rubber Ducky.

Unzip AboutBuster to the Desktop then click the "Update Button" then click "Check for Update" and download the updates and then click "Exit" because I don't want you to run it yet. Just get the updates so it is ready to run later in safe mode.

Now go ahead and set your computer to show hidden files like so:

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go ... Read more

HelloToday I've had the misfortune of downloading a file which instead infected me with this browser hijacker isearch.claro-search.com that automatically makes my homepage look like this:I've been trying all day to remove it but nothing works. First I went in add/remove programs, uninstalled isearch.claro-search.com and other of its components easily. I re-opened firefox and there it was again. I ran a (quick) Norton scan but it caught nothing. I searched on google for tutorials on how to remove it but so many suggest to play around with regedit and although I have some basic computer knowledge, I don't feel confident enough to toy with anything from regedit. So instead I downloaded and ran Kaspersky tdsskiller but it found nothing useful. I then downloaded Spyware Doctor and ran a quick scan on safe mode with networking and it easily found isearch.claro-search.com along with other infections (which I suspect are all linked to this hijacker because I didn't have any computer problems before today). So I purchased Spyware Doctor in order to fully fix the infections and it successfully quarantined them. I thought I was done but to my disappointment, I re-open firefox and there it is again. I don't know what to do anymore. Quite frankly I'm desperate and out of ideas to fix this. I sincerely hope something can be done to remove this nasty hijacker. A big thank you in advance to anyone willing to help. p.s. I use Windows Vista.

If so, kindly attach the log report for my review.

I would also like to have a supplementary report.

Once the setup begins, on the Welcome page press Next button.

At end of scan, a Notepad window should show with the content of EPeek.txt.  Save the file.  Attach it to your next reply.

Hi,

I can't seem to remove Baidu search from the list of search providers in the IE8 search box. After removing it, it comes back when I restart IE8.

In addition, I get the popup with "A program on your computer has suggested a new default search provider for Internet Explorer" (Baidu) a few second after starting IE8.

I also noticed that typing a random string into the URL box brings up a Baidu auto-search, even if auto-search is disabled. (Internet Options->Advanced->"do not submit unknown searches to your auto-search provider" is set).

MalwareBytes v1.46 does not find anything.

Thanks,

Hello All..
I'm new in here.. but have used a lot of the solutions created by all of you.
But I could not find a solution for my problem.

Case:
I have a user account that I need to "lock down/restrict"
I'm using group policy for non administrators:
Controlpanel
Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC settings
Start Menu and Taskbar
Prevent users from customizing their start screen
Remove all program list from start menu
Remove balloon tips on start menu items
Turn off all balloon notification
System
Prevent access to registry editing tools
Ctrl+Alt+Del option
Remove task manager

This helps me a lot.. BUT If the user are using the charm bar search.. they can access My Computer or Documents or ....
How can I disable the search on the START Charmbar
I have used the article: Search in Windows 8 but just removed the all checkmarks in the first Tip.. that helps.. but it dose not solve it.

My goal is to have a empty field when I search for anything.. or even better.. to remove the search function.

I hope that somebody can help me with this.

Best regard

I asked Explorer to search for files made between 2 dates 2 weeks apart. A large number of folders & files correctly displayed. In order to further reduce search to one file type, I created a new folder and tried to copy all the search found files to it, so that I could then re-search for *.mp4 files only.
However, it did not copy but instead began MOVING files to new folder. I cancelled, but not before many files had been moved. I then tried Ctrl Z - nothing, then UNDO from toolbar - inactive, which I had called up. Neither undo operation worked.
So now I have a very large number of files (1,685) and folders (49) drawn and moved from all over my computer, which I cannot begin to see how to put back into their original locations. I may be able to put back most of the folders which I had created, but as for the rest ..........!
I would very much appreciate advice on how to undo this disastrous operation

With IE open...Tools/Manage Add-ons...you can remove/disable any add-ons.

What is the exact wording of error messages you receive?

I had a bing toolbar that my son somehow downloaded to my computer. I removed it and also scanned with ad-aware and found and removed a trojan virus. I was entering something into my address bar and misspelled and it came up to a bing search page. I don't have bing as a default search engine. I checked the registry with regedit and found the bing search entry and deleted it but it sill goes to this page. It does it in firefox and IE. How can I get this deleted permanently?

A:bing search
