I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, i am looking for a policy that will allow me to uncheck 'display intranet sites in compatibility view' without graying out the option to recheck it if a user needs the option in the future. So far the only option i found under Computer
Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Compatibility View/Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for Local Intranet would gray out the option to recheck the box.

Hi,

We have an odd issue. IE11 is running all sites in compatibility mode. This appears to be because it is treating all sites as being in the Intranet Zone. This is:
a) breaks many websites that require modern browsers
b) is a huge security issue as many protections are disabled by default on the intranet zone.

Has anyone else seen this or have ideas on what we can do to solve it.

I will add that we have autodetect proxy settings enabled, and wpad hosts a proxy.pac that instructs browsers to go direct to all websites.

Thanks

Nick

We currently have a GPO deployed which has many websites listed under compatibility view sites.  In this GPO, we have "Include updated website lists from Microsoft:  Enabled", "Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for local intranet:
Enabled", and "Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites:  Enabled"...as well as many sites listed under there.
The issue is, when sites are added to the list, it takes the domain name of the site (ex:  citrix.abc.com), the only way for this to apply in a GPO is to add "abc.com" to the list.  However, this in turn affects all sites that end in
abc.com, where we have other sites like mail.abc.com we do not want listed in compatibility view.
Is there a way around this?  If I add citrix.abc.com, compatibility view doesn't recognize it unless abc.com is listed.
The only way around this I can think of is to move the systems to a sub OU and not have that GPO apply to it.
Our end clients are currently Windows 7 with IE9 (upgrading to IE11 shortly).

Internet Explorer, unfortunately, does not give the options to view only certain sites in a domain in Compatibility View. It is either the entire domain or nothing, which is an unfortunate design decision. I have 2 sites, with urls of

siteone.mydomain.com and mydomain.com/sitetwo that need to be in Compatibility View but the rest of the *.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/* sites should not be in Compatibility View. How do I do this. Could Microsoft please change this feature. I do not have
the ability or authority to change the individual sites themselves to force compatibility view so that is not an option.

In Internet Explorer 9 if I go to Compatibility View List and enter in a site... say nothere.com  Where on the computer is that information stored?  Somewhere in the registry or a file in the users application data folder?  Some sort of
encrypted database perhaps?  I have tried searching the registry and have found nothing... also tried windows search to search contents of files....  Does anybody know where that data is stored?  Thank you...  My intentions is to simply
utilize our existing logon scripts to insert sites in or out of there for different users... not on a per machine basis or having the same sites for all users...

A:IE9 Compatibility View List - Actual Location of sites enterened

It is stored in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation\ClearableListData\

It is a binary key named UserFilter

Good work.   ClearableListData  seems to be a useful search term.   The usual suggestion associated with it apparently is to create a .reg file using Export which you could then try Importing.   Unfortunately I wasn't able
to find anyone confirming the effectiveness of this idea, so Caveat Emptor!   ;  )

Good luck

Hello
We are testing Windows 10 1703 prior to rolling it out to our estate and have come across an issue with Internet Explorer Site Zoning and just wondering if anyone else has seen the issue.
So on Windows 7, 8.1 and Windows 10, 1511 and 1607 using IE11. We have a SharePoint intranet site setup on intranet.example.co.uk. We use a proxy so we have a list of sites that by pass the proxy so for example we have *.example.co.uk in the bypass
proxy exceptions. On the above clients OS we browse to the site in IE and it loads, checking the zone it has picked it up as 'Local Intranet' so seems to use the 'Automatic logon on in Intranet Zone' setting. - all good.
Just for clarity these settings are same in IE on all versions. as are the default security options.

When we do the same thing on Windows 10 1703 it results in the user being prompted for credentials. the same proxy exceptions settings are applied as above. Entering the username/password allows access to the site. Checking the zone and the site is
being seen as an 'internet site'. This issue also appears in Chrome and Edge and only on Windows 10 1703
Adding intranet.example.co.uk to the bypass list makes no difference either, the only thing that does work is by adding intranet.example.co.uk into the Local Intranet Zone sites list - again all other settings are the same as above and work on
previous versions of Windows.
So the question is has Microsoft changed something in IE o... Read more

I do develop web applications on this PC, so not sure it software or settings on my PC are preventing a consistent load.

Hi

I'm not sure that anyone can help me with this problem but I'd like to ask.

DETAILS:

IBM Thinkpad T22 Laptop
Windows 2000 Professional

A user at our company connects to an internal intranet website. The web server is located in the US (we are in the UK) and so its a bit slow but ok.

When he gets to a certain site he clicks a link that should open an Excel document. He clicks the link and his pc appears to freeze up. I checked task manager and IE is still running, cpu usage is around 3%. If you wait for 8 minutes (timed it a few times) the document opens up fine.

I logged the user off and logged on as myself. I accessed the link and the document opend up with 10 seconds!

Things I have tried:

1. Ran an IE browser repair.
2. Rebuilt the users Windows 2000 Profile.
3. Deleted Temp Internet Files including Index.dat
4. Detect and Reapir in Excel (just in case!)

Its not a major problem but the document should open up in about 10-15 seconds instead of 8 minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Regards

Pileyrei

I have, what seems to me, a strange problem. The company I work for uses sharepoint for our intranet sites (no, this is not a sharepoint question) and we have recently upgraded to a new version. When we upgraded, the site now needs to be added to the local
intranet site list in order for it to automatically receive windows log in credentials and log users in to SharePoint. This is a simple fix, I have done it on dozens of machines, but on a select few the fix doesn't seem to work. Whenever I add a website to
the intranet sites list, it acts as if it was added... then as soon as I close the dialog box that is used to enter and display this info, it's gone, and by gone I mean I open back up the box and it has disappeared from the list. There is no trace of me ever
having changed a setting. There are currently no GPOs active that would cause these to be taken out of the list, I have tried adding the sites directly into the registry and they disappear there too, I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question
but I figure it's a start. So again:
Problem: Sites do not stay in proper security zone, all traces of them existing are erased on closing of dialog box.

Troubleshooting Done so Far: Tried directly placing in registry, no fix. No GPO's are active to remove said sites from zones.

A:IE 11 - Intranet sites added to list do not stay

Hi,
"but on a select few the fix doesn't seem to work"
Confused with this sentence, does this issue only occur in a specific PC\user account?
Have you tried the suggestion mentioned in the your original thread to reset IE, test the result?
What about other security zones, like Internet or trusted zone? Are there any other websites under the Intranet zone? Though you mentioned that these's no GPO applied to control this, I still recommend you run cmd rsop to check the settings applied
on this machine and user account.

Hiya

Is this problem only on msn.com, or all sites? Do you have a saved style sheet that you can add to the Options, like you've explained above?

If you don't have one, then have a look at these free downloads, and see if they work for you:

http://www.microsoft.com/enable/training/ie6/css.aspx

This also explains how to create your own, though it may be trial and eror getting it the way you want it:

Ah, this looks better:

Any ideas how to help?

I have an IdeaPad 710S 13" non-touch laptop that I've had for a little over a month.  Sometimes when I touch the lid/screen - for example, to move the laptop closer or adjust the tilt of the lid, or when opening the lid - the display distorts. Sometimes it is just this one vertical section of the screen (first image below, though sometimes the black areas are white) and other times it is the entire screen with vertical gray lines/sections (second and third pictures below).  I've updated the display driver but that didn't help. I think it happens only(?) when there's some pressure against the screen/lid.  Sometimes closing the lid and opening it back up fixes the issue, but other times I have to reboot to fix it.  Ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

Hi, I'm wounder if anyone can tell me where the CV list i stored, not the one that is downloaded from MS but the one containing "my" websites that i've added through the "Compatibility View Settings" under the "Tools"-meny in IE9.

A:Compatibility View In IE9

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation\ClearableListData\UserFilter

However, beware that's a reg_binary struct, so it's not something you can manually edit and have it continue to work afterwards...

After installing these drivers the display on the X1 Yoga remains black and is unsuable when docked or undocked; however external monitors are functional. Any ideas on what is causing this? The OneLink+ dock is also at the latest driver/firmware. Rolling back to the previous version resolved the issue, but I continue to still have the random black, white and/or gray blocks that randomly appear within the Office Suite. I was hoping the 21.20.16.4505 Display Drivers would help with this. Thanks

Hi --
Hope someone can help with this problem.

I have a .aspx webpage with some server-side (VB.Net) and client-side script (javascript). The JS includes Raphael JS library (vector graphics) and jquery-1.4 library.

I am running IE9, but for some reason this page loads in "Browser Mode: IE9 Compat View, Document Mode: IE7 standards" (this as reported by Developer Tools window). In this mode it does not render the page properly. When I change the Browser Mode to IE9, the page reloads and renders properly, showing "IE9 standards".

What would be causing the page to initially load in "Compat View"? Can I force it to load in IE9 mode somehow?

Thanks for help.

PS
When I run this site from Firefox it works fine.

A:Problem re IE9 Compatibility View

Compatibility View is triggered automatically when layout errors are detected, unless that feature is disabled:

Open IE9 > Internet Options.
Advanced tab.
In the "Browsing" section, Untick "Automatically recover from page layout errors with Compatibility View"

We have a web-based application that uses IE9, with Display intranet sites in Compatibility View checkbox unchecked.  The problem is other web-based applications require that this checkbox be checked.  Is there a way to create an icon that will
open this in IE with the checkbox unchecked, but still allow for it to remain checked in the other application?

Hi all,
I just installed IE8, and without knowing much what I was doing, I opened a website, and clicked the compatibility view. But I don't really want that view on that particular website, so I tried to take it back, but couldn't. I saw in the MS notes to turn it off, delete the browsing history. After doing that, I opened the same website again, but I didn't see the compatibility icon, which makes me think it is still on. Prior to and after deleting the history, I opened a second website (totally different than the first), and I saw the icon. Also prior to and after deleting, TSG does not have the compatibility icon. No websites are currently showing up in the compatibility view list, but still, I have to wonder (especially on the first website) whether it really is off, because I know longer get the option to turn it on. Does anyone know how to tell for real?
Thanks, Jason

My issue started over a month ago. Everything was working fine...then suddenly the internet would only load google.com. I guess it wasn't completely "suddenly"....I downloaded chrome (on a whim). That is the only thing I can recall doing. It didn't work after I tried to use it. After days of searching and trying to figure it out, I reinstalled OS (XP Pro). After installing updates, I continued to have this problem. I tether from my android, and also "connect" the usb to get pics and things from phone to computer, and read that viruses can affect certain flash drives so I formatted and scanned my sd just to be sure. I have since reinstalled 3 times in the past month or so. My connection is really slow so updating is a task in itself. I lost 13 years worth of research and data (family pics, videos, etc.). I really don't care about that as such....I'm just frustrated with all this at this point. I installed McAfee about a week ago and it said it found and deleted a virus, but nothing has really changed. Okay, I'm kind of venting here and not being specific about the issue....I apologize. This is some of what's happening:IE 8 only works in compatibility view. When not in this view, only google.com loads. I can load facebook by typing in https://www.facebook.com (as well as other similar sites). When google loads a search, I click and it loads....for-never I can't click on the "login" on some sites (like ... Read more

When I loginto www.webkinz.com IE8 pulls up a Compatibility View window. After I login, I don't get the full screen. This is annoying. I have gone to tools, compatibility view settings and made sure no websites were on the list. Even after a reboot I get the same problem.

Any ideas where else you can eliminate the Compatibility View settings?

Well Paul from Parker, Colorado, I don't have a webkinz code so I couldn't login but the only thing that could be causing this is the fact that the Webkinz.com Web site is not coded to be fully compatible with IE8. Being there are discrepancies, stuff like this is bound to happen.

It might be worth checking out a different browser such as Google Chrome [www.google.com/chrome] or Mozilla Firefox [www.getfirefox.com].

I tried to set the zoom to 150% and it will work just for the page I'm on but when I open other pages I have to reset it. I also went to compatibility view and set it to all websites but that doesn't work.

The other problem, when in google I want the web pages to open in a new window, I set preferences in google to open links in new windows but only tabs show up. This problem started when I checked to see what igoogle was, when I got back to google again this didn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I am trying to work out how to implement compatibility view / Enterprise Mode for some sites and have some questions I haven't been able to answer satisfactorily yet. Can you help?
1. I have a site that seems to work in compatibility view but not Enterprise Mode and want to find out how to add it with Group Policy. I've found 3 useful links:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/asiatech/archive/2013/10/23/how-to-add-web-site-to-compatibility-view-list-via-gpo.aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn321457.aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn321453.aspx
The first one looks good except for comments suggesting the recommended solution replaces existing settings on first application, and the other 2 sites contradict each other. One lists the Group Policy settings available for this in IE11 and the other says
they are deprecated.
Are there any other options for adding sites to compatibility view that work and are non-destructive?
2. 2 of the sites I have listed in EMIE are actually loading as IE5 (presumably compatibility view) when they should load as a different mode. Is there any easy way to work out why they are loading in a particular mode? They are not listed in Compatibility
mode and they are not listed in gpresult output and so I want to know why they behave like this.

Thanks
Mark

There is a list of sites that must run in compatibility view if IE10 is used (https://iecvlist.microsoft.com/ie10/...atviewlist.xml)

does anyone know if this is the same list for IE11 - if not, is there another somewhere?this list shows what the earlier version of IE needs to be for each site on this list - how would I identify an earlier version of IE to use if I simply added a site using the "Add" button in IE11 (it doesn't have anything to identify the version of IE to use)?

Thanks,
Frank

I was trying to log into a work from home website. They had specified that I use Internet Explorer but I couldn't log in until I had added that website to IE's compatibility view setting. Then it worked O.K.
My question is, WHY????

A:Had to use Compatibility View in order to use a website.

Hi there

Probably because the site was still using FLASH. There are a lot of new ways (and more secure too) of displaying web sites, as well as the sites themselves using different coding techniques.

A lot of older sites or sites developed using earlier coding standards and programs won't display properly on IE11 but will when using Compatibility mode as this mode will still read and execute older coding and protocols.

Also note that some sites like Banks etc which might be capable of running the new software (No Flash, HTML 5, CSS etc) might also check for specific browser versions -- IE11 might not yet be added to their list even though the site has been updated. Running in compatibility mode will "poodlefake" the site as well into thinking you are running IE10.

Any Furniture restorers or visitors to antique auction rooms will understand the expression "Poodlefake". !!!!

"Seemples......".

Cheers
jimbo.

Hi,
We have a list of sites under the group policy setting
User/policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Compatibility View/Use Policy List of Internet Explorer sites
The sites appear as expected in the registry under HKCU/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/BrowserEmulation/PolicyList
Despite this the sites are not being rendered in compatibility view. This is using IE11 on Server 2012r2 remote desktop
Any idea what could be causing this?

Hello!

I'm encountering a problem while using IE 11 via RDS (published desktop).

I'm controling compatibility view settings in a GPO. There are listed some domains,
but not "company.example.com"

In "zone to site assignment" the domain "company.example.com" is listed with number 2, because trusted sites should not be listed in compatibility view.
If i connect to my RDS desktop, IE displays "company.example.com" in compatibility view. A gpresult says, all GPOs are retrieved correctly.
When i remove the entry, log off and log in again, it is displayed again.
The registry in my RDS desktop displays the settings as they are set in GPO, so im very confused, where the compatibility view entry comes from and why it appears, after i deleted it.

I have one end user who has two machines, one machine has IE 11 and the other is IE 9. when the end user goes to a certain website it opens that site directly into compatibility view. I have removed all compatibility view settings on the machine, verified
that it is not in the browser emulation key but this one website still launches in compatibility view. once more it is on these machines meaning it affects all users who login to these two machines. I have looked in the GPO's and there is not there set to
govern this.

How do I fix these two machines so the website is removed/ no longer opening in compatibility view?

I'm experiencing an issue with the Latitude e5550 and the dell dock / e-vew stand. The appears the dock will not expand enough to fit the e5550 due to the placement of the eport underneath.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Can anyone confirm if there is a different stand for the e5550? Please see attachment as it makes a lot more sense.Thank you!

A:e-view Stand compatibility with Latitude e5550

Hi Robert, Thank you for the response. Unfortunately this issue cannot be resolved by these instructions. Its quite straight forward how to use the docking station. I have used it before on many models of latitude including the e6500, e6510, 20, 30, and 40! The issue is that the dock connector is so close to the rear edge of the computer that the stand will not expand out far enough to accommodate it and Dell is yet to admit this or provide an alternate solution. I KNOW it ships with the plastic piece, but this piece has nothing to do with the issue. In your picture Robert, you show a blue arrow indicating the stand can expand to fit multiple sized laptops. It will not expand out far enough to accommodate the e5550. This is unacceptable as it is advertised as being completely compatible with "all existing e-series docking" solutions. We have purchased a great number of these stands and need a solution.
