Small Video Recorder device for motorcycle use?

Q: Small Video Recorder device for motorcycle use?

Hi everyone, been a while.

Next year starts the new 250 Motorcycle Road-Racing season, and I'll be attending the full Swedish and European Championship...

I'm working as a mechanic for a friend... Now just today he came asking me if it would be difficult to have a few "onboard" cameras that record his driving...

Umm, yes, it probably will be was my answer ;-)

After a while of looking on google for "mini cams" and instead ending up at very different sites I got a really crazy idea:

Build a mini computer instead...

The mainboard of choice would of course be one of VIA's ITX mainboards

And since he can't have a 220v power chord around the track it felt reasonable to find a good DC-DC powersupply, and I found one that would be marvelous for this project right here.

Next I'll need cameras, and on this German site I found some real small ones...

They are connected via USB to the computer and need no extra power, thus they are ideal....

I'll need 12v batteries also, and while I do have a 12v 7ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery here at home doing nothing it weights 2,6kg... Simply too much, so what I want is a 12v battery which would be able to drive that computer for around 30minutes during recording (I'm assuming around 15w power consumption)

Ideally it would be a battery which is flat, and not extends more than 17cm, i.e. the same shape as the mainboard... Most important is that it is light though...

Last but not least the computer will need some kind of storage solution, and this is proably the part I have no clue on...

On the one side I will need a fast storage solution that can record all the data from the multiple USB cameras at once, but it will also need to consume little power and also be extremley shock resistant, I'm talking 13.000 RPM's and perhaps one and another crash...

Therefore I don't think 2,5" notebook harddrives would do the trick, I might be wrong though and I would be glad if you proved me so...

Another choice would be to use Compact Flash, though I have no experience in that but I would assume it would become a very expensive solution due to the storage and speed requirements I have...

http://www.mini-box.com/cfadapter.htm

I would build the case myslef so it fits the motorcycle and is as shock-resistant as it possibly can be...

In the end what I want is a device that can record around 30 minutes of movie from a motorcycle, i.e. something that is light, durable and shock-resitant... I want neither an unfocused movie nor a dead recorder device....

Preferred Solution: Small Video Recorder device for motorcycle use?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Small Video Recorder device for motorcycle use?

For power-supply, you could use the motorbike's onboard electricity (either 6V or 12V)
For storage, an MP3-player/recorder comes to mind (Creative, with 20GB HD, or similar). Check websites where bungie-jumpers record their drops. Also you could try and contact formula One people, they have solid cameras on their racecars (but they will surely cost more than an arm and a leg).
Sound like a nice project, best of luck.

A friend sent me a wmv about a guy on a motorcycle in Texas who created a song about all the places he visited in Texas, with shots of the City signs all over the state.

When the video ends, there's an audio of a motorcycle engine in the distance that goes on and on and on...except that it goes on and on and on even when I deleted the video..and no matter what I'm doing with my computer!!

I even rebooted...and within two minutes, there's the ongoing motorcycle sound.

I tried playing another audio, and STILL in the background is the motorcycle engine.

HOW do I get rid of it???? Yeah, I have my sound on Mute, but that's only a temporary fix, you might say.

Nancy

A:Humorous but aggravating problem--background motorcycle noise won't stop!!

Never mind. It was actually the background noise of an Instinct phone webpage...and when I turned up the audio for the motorcycle video and it ENDED... I was hearing the noise from the Instinct video in the background and didn't know it. haha Sorry. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I plan on building a myth tv box. I have Io Digital Cable service. Ive learnt that this may cause me some issues in building a working PVR. I want to have my mythtv box record off cable without needing the stb to be set to the channel. Id also like to be able to watch tv on the computer while I do this.

The pc will be 2-2.6ghz p4 or celeron with 512 mb ram and 320 gb hdd.

I would like all my cable channels, i dont care about the on demand but would definitley like it. I just want to use this as a vcr that also allows me to view channels while I record. The cable box has a RCA out but i'm assuming without a IR blaster that will only show me what the stb is set to.

If i split the coax cable before the cablebox and I get a QAM compatable tunercard will I be able to do what I want? Like have the pvr switch channels or tune to whatever channel it wants to? Does anyone know how Io/Cablevision broadcasts their digital cable signal? QAM64 or QAM 256? Encrypted or not? I think that the only encrypted portion is on demand, menus and music channels and the rest are unencrypted. I could be wrong though.

Im following the systm.org episode 2 to building your own pvr and will be using the software they reccommend. I also plan on using a hauppage pvr 250 most likely, or whatever card is suitable and in my price range.

Any ideas? Reccommendations?

Thanks

What compressor options also?

You don't need to pay for a program to download videos from Youtube. Here's a link to Flash Video Resources. It's free. It works great and I use it all the time. Also, If you use either IE7 or Firefox, you can use Real Player 11 to download video clips from any webpage. The only type of video RP won't download are DRM protected clips. My question probably either has no answer, or the answer is no ( what I'm figuring ) or if the answer is yes. it will be too complicated for me to perform on my own. lol. But is it possible, as the title of my post asks, to extract video for a dumpfile ( DMP ) created when my screen recorder froze. And I had to close the program using the task manager. which model humax do you have - not sure you are going to be able to do this , as the humax only has the broadcast signals to choose from and so unlike a video or DVD recorder you cannot choose one of the other signal inputs

if a HDR-FOXT2 model you do have an internet connection and FTP - to copy
also you can play a USB connected device - MP4s work well

Hello reader. I work in the tech department of a small company that sells recording equipment for vehicles.
We have started selling a range of digital video recording (DVR) units and are having a huge problem with the viewing software.
The software is called CMSV6 and is a generally universal viewing tool for DVRs.
I have tested this software on 3 laptops and 3 desktop PCs and it only works on one - a dual core 2.4ghz, 32bit win7 sp1, 4gb ram. I have been assured from the developers that the program is compatible with every (non server) version of Windows from XP and onwards.
The other machines are running Windows XP, 8.1 and 10.
On the latter machines The program loads fine but when you chose the directory of the footage you want to view, the program simply does not find anything.
It's almost like the program is being blocked or there is a small *something* missing from all the other computers.
I have tried
installing and running the program with admin rights
Sharing the drive/folder
Lowering and removing basic security settings
Adding firewall/antivirus exceptions
Disabling firewall/antivirus
Every 'compatibility mode' imaginable
Different versions of the program
Updating Adobe flash and Java
Any ideas would be much appreciated

A:Digital Video Recorder playback software being blocked?

A google search doesn't reflect that name as DVR software.  Another search reflects that name as being the product of various spftware developers.

I want the video to be as it is displayed on monitor (1280 x 1024 res) at 30 fps without any choppiness, like windows vista/7 show thumbnail previews of videos as it is! even if the video is of 1080p. I wanted to record a game (Counter Strike Source).

A:Screen Recorder without any frame drop or choppy video.

To capture at the rate you want and play a game at the same time is gonna require a pretty heavy duty PC. Video capture is as hard on a CPU as a high end gaming is. Your likely going to need a at least a dual core CPU for what you want to do maybe even a quad core as well as a good amount of RAM.

Hi all,

I am current trying to configure the network settings on a standalone DVR.

I have been doing trial and error all day long to get a 'SUCCESS' on a 'check' while entering the DDNS SVC information.
After figuring out that the IP Configuration & Allocation of the Network in the router was messed up, I finally got the DDNS SVC to give me a 'SUCCESS' reading. Thus, enabling me to remotely access the digital video recorder via a Internet Browser.

Here's the catch ;

I am only able to access the DVR from the PC that has the configuration of the network. (example 10.0.0.1)
and the settings on the DVR have been set to :

IP : 10.0.0.5
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 10.0.0.1
DNS : 10.0.0.1
Port of device is set to 20410.

So entering http://10.0.0.5:20410 directs me to the webclient that enables me to remotely access the device.

Now here's the problem. I want to remotely access it through ANY PC from the internet and by entering the above can't seem to do the job. Please do give any advice on what I've done wrong and what can be done to correct it.

Your help on this matter is most appreciated,

Yours sincerely,
leonistic

Hi all! New to the group and in need of your expertise!
I have an FS-H200 recorder unit that the LCD screen on it has suddenly gone blank.
It boots up fine--at least seems to--but the splash screen never shows and when it's done booting, the typical menu based display is just a blank gray.
It worked yesterday briefly but on restarting it never came back on.
Does anyone have any ideas what might have happened or what I can do to fix it.
The Vitec (who produces it) website says it's no longer supported in any way so I can't go there.
I'm at a loss and have several shoots coming up!

Any ideas?
Thanks.
Jeff

Not much you can do with consumer electronics. Aside from power off/on or possibly removing all power for an extended period your only options are taking it in for repair or replacing it. Based on it's age, it's very likely more cost effective to simply replace it.

My system: ABS 2300+ PC
Windows XP OS with SP2
500 MB RAM, 80 GB free disc space

In transfering digital data from my Panasonic PV-GS39 camcorder to my computer using an AV100 capturing device, no audio is present in the resulting Windows Movie Maker file.

I have read all pertinent Movie Maker instructions concerning data capture, both audio and video, without success.

I used the same capturing setup with Intervideo's WINDVD Creator 2 and had no problem capturing both audio and video.

Any idea what my problem is?

I would like to watch videos on my Windows laptop and have the audio play from my Android phone. Is this possible?

The reason I want to do this is my audio jack on my laptop seems to be broken. I'm often in the library or others places where headphones are essential.

A:How to Stream Audio on Android Device while keeping Video on Windows Device

That would be very difficult.
Lets first find out if your if your Audio jack is broken.
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager are there any yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed.
What is the make and model# of your laptop? Go to the manufacturers support/download drivers and type in your make and model# or service tag # and download the Chipset and Audio driver for your computer.

Guys.

Need recomendation :

As of now, we have a PowerEdge server running which is hosting our DC on C:\ and then we have 700GB on D:\ drive. We are almost at 600GB capacity.

Now company wants to move forward with purchasing a storage server but dont want to spend over 5K for Dell's MD1000s which hosts over 5TB of data.

Our budget is around 2K to 5K and need something at LEAST 4TB.

What do you guys recommend? Needs to be Raid5 or 10, needs to be rackmounted also.

Thanks Guys!

OK here's what happened.
Someone was trying to add a video card to a Gateway GT5228 PC so that they could use two monitors.
The PC and existing monitor was using the on board video.
They installed a new video card and loaded drivers for it.
The on board video showed up in device manager and was deleted.
Somehow the new video card was also deleted in the device manager as well.
Now the PC will boot and you will see video until the windows splash screen then the monitor will go blank.
The PC is running as someone suggested using MS Narrator to hear the menus and try to get to device manager.
However he was unable to navigate to the device manager using this technique.
Using F8 and trying to boot into safe mode resulted in the same issues.
Trying forced VGA also the same.
Trying to use system restore to roll back to the previous setup also resulted in the same outcome.
Can anybody suggest a good way to be able to get the video back up and running?
I personally have not looked at this PC to try a few things but will be looking at it tonight.
Anyone else run into this problem?
I would think windows would not allow all video to be deleted from device manager but I guess it has happened to many folks before.
The OS is XP Pro.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Deleted Video card in device manager now no video past splash screen

take out the new card and reboot. restart (whatever happens) and go into BIOS, check your onboard graphics is enabled, save and reboot. ...you were still using the onboard graphics by he way...tell me when you've done the above..

As I feel that this is an Outlook 2003's trouble, I decided to post this enquiry here. If I am wrong I apologize in anticipation. Well, I manage quite successfullly a relatively old but perfectly updatable Logitech. I send through Outlook 2003, pictures succesfully compacted, but I cannot send small videos. It announces a failure and closes. I am feeling constantly that at least my Outlook 2003, is giving some troubles, then I have the suspect that the problem is there..., or in XP Pro. Is it any mean to fix it? Many thanks and regards.
