Windows 7, sound limit, audio card is loud Windows is soft

Q: Windows 7, sound limit, audio card is loud Windows is soft

Common complaint, I am working with Windows 7 on a Dell Optiplex 755, but teh issue is with the System Volume setting. When I go to the audio mixer and do the test and configuration, the SoundMax audio level is loud and clear. The problem is with the Windows system settings somewhere, is there a limiter or cap setting in teh registry that I can set to maximum?

I know that it is not the standard slide bars/levels but somewhere that Windows 7 Professional is cutting the volume on any Windows application. The drivers are fine, if I invoke the card directly it will blast the sound out. But in any application it is too soft.

Preferred Solution: Windows 7, sound limit, audio card is loud Windows is soft

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

As you have a Dell, for proper operation you need to use the Dell supplied driver. I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forums and we found that non-Dell sound drivers either did not work or did not work correctly.

Here is the Dell Vista sound driver, it will also work with Windows 7 as it is just "Vista improved". It is for both the 32 bit and 64 bit OS versions. Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

This is a first step. If its still not working correctly after installing the driver, the next thing is what programs you are using that are "low"? If you click on the speaker icon in the notification area (lower right) you can set the system volume level.

My computer is making kind of a loud whistling sound, it doesn't look like I have bad caps(on my motherboard) though.

Also I hear some sort of "disc spinning" or "fan-like sound" that's loud but it's "soft" loud(like a refrigerator/freezer makes a sort of "soft" but loud sound) makes but it's not my fans. I am guessing it could be my hard drive?

Anyone know what problem I could possibly have?

Just bought this HP notebook.  Seems very good, except for the audio.  When music is playing, it appears to automatically cut the volume when the level gets high, then it slowly increases.  This gives music an annoying loud-soft-loud-soft feel that sounds awful.  I don't want it normalized, just played straight. This occurs both for online music and for local music.   However, it only happens with the internal speakers.  With an external speaker plugged in, no distortion. I am trying to turn this off, if at all possible.  My searching shows that some drivers have "loudness equalization" for audio effects;  However, when I go to Playback Devices > Properties, the Enhancements tab does not have any options at all.  Any ideas?  The laptop will be used for frequent music playing, so this is a deal breaker if it can't be modified.

Ok, I've been having this problem for several months now. I have scoured multiple windows forums, chat groups and the like looking for a solve. But, no avail. Someone from another community actually told me to come here to you folks. So here I go again.

I have windows 10 (home edition, 64 bit, (10.0, Build 10586)). I am running an AsusTek RoG Gaming Laptop that uses VIA HD Audio. I have all the updated drivers, have downloaded multiple different codecs. Uninstalled, re-installed, gone into bios setting, pretty much everything. And my sound -isn't- as loud as it was with previous versions of Windows. I've gone into setting and enhancements. When I actually test the speakers sound the left speaker is sorta low, the right is really high. The problem is when I open any video file/music file, the sound absurdly drops to a whisper even when the video player volume is running as high as it can go. Now this only works for video/music files. If I run a game, the sound is amazing. This only happens with Windows Media Player/Media Player Classic. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I'm about ready to just go back to Windows 8.1.

I have also included a dxdiag.txt to help out if it helps.

I have a problem with the audio device of z61t-9441-a35. After I made a clean installation of Windows XP professional with SP3 patch, I found that the sound volume is too low. The speaker could produce the sound approximately half as lound as before, even the volume indicator in XP's volume control panel had been maximised, so as to the IBM's sound panel and the SoundMax's one. The driver I am using was downloaded from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62855 , which would be the lastest one. I would really appreciated if anyone can help me solving this issue. Many thanks.

I have volume set around 8% and for some reason it is way louder than on Vista. On Vista I usually have it around 22% when I use headphones. On Windows 7 RC it's extreme loud when I set it to 22%. Anyway to fix this? I tried everything in the sound properties.

A:Sound Very Loud With Headphones On Windows 7 RC

I have the same problem. Think the scale is ridiculous, because everything I will ever need is between 0-20%. Even 10% can be too loud at times.

Edit: My soundcard is Creative X-fi XtremeMusic. XP there was two sliders for volume (wave and normal) and that way it was fine in that. But 7 only has one slider.

Hi all,

I just got a 5.1 Speakers set.
Anyway, the smart guys that designed the sound card, or drivers, dont let me use all specific jack holes to hook them up.
Instead, they force me to use mic and line out holes to get Center/Woofer and front sounds.
I need headphones and mic at least as often as speakers.

Anyway, I have a splitter device that let me connect both headphones and front speakers, also mic and Center/woofer.
Where can I find a simple application that let me switch from headphones/mic mode to 5.1 speakers mode.
I can write one myself in VB if I get the right direction where to look (Windows API?).

The best solution whould be a simple sys-tray icon that give me a menu to switch from 5.1 to headphones.
That whould set Speakers setup from desktop speakers to 5.1 speakers and mic/front checkbox you can see in C-panel/Sound and Audio device.

I would say you are better off getting a new sound card with more ports. Switching liek that shoudl be built into the sound card drivers.

I am using xonar d2x sound card and it has been good until recently when I played videos on youtube and games it gives a loud buzzing noise. Even sounds made by windows sound produces the loud buzzing noise. It also happens on sometimes when playing videos. Other than that it works fine. I tried to use realtek sound but can't find the driver on device manager, even after downloading & installing the drivers. I tried reinstalling my xonar sound driver but it didn't fix the problem. I reformatted my pc and installed the xonar sound card but the problem is still there. I then tried installing the update for it but my pc crash (blue screen with driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal error). After restart, there's no audio output device detected. Device manager shows Marvell 91xx Config ATA device not installed.

I'm really frustrated now. Is there anyone that can help me? Thanks alot.

A:xonar d2x sound card loud buzzing noise problem

First, don't have two sound devices enabled, as that can cause conflicts.

Is the buzzing caused by something attached to the sound card? e.g. a "ground loop hum". Remove anything attached to the card and then just connect a headphone and see if you still get the buzzing. If its gone then what is attached to the card is causing the problem. If its still there the first step is to "reseat" the card (with the PC powered off, remove the sound card then reinstall making sure its fully and correctly seated).

I have installed a new Creative "Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1095" soundcard. I disabled the old on-board card. Note: It's USB. When I start-up, shutdown, sleep or wake, I get a very loud POP thru the speakers.

I contacted Creative and they told me this is "normal" because Windows 7 is polling the USB input to see if there is anything connected. This doesn't sound right, because it happens when I shutdown or sleep, too! Why would Windows poll a usb input while shutting down or going to sleep? Anyway, it sounds like a bug to me.

If it's not, is there any way to have Windows poll without issuing an audible POP?
Thanks for your help and advice.

A:Creative USB sound card causes loud pop at startup and shutdown, sleep

There is an option, on most PC's to have the USB ports power active all the time. This would eliminate the pops with standby, but would not stop the pop when booting up (it is turning on USB port power) and the SoundBlaster is powering on or when Powering off when it's dropping power and the SoundBlaster is powering off.

It's really a design issue in the SoundBlaster. Basically the SoundBlaster needs to work with the PC, not the PC must work with the SoundBlaster.

They (Creative/SoundBlaster) could have eliminated this in design. Many Peavey (and some other brands) solid state guitar amplifiers do this when powering on and/or off, Peavey finally redesigned the power supply in newer models and eliminated the pop.

Hi, I desperately need help with the following issue.
Well I just purchased a Sony Vaio VGN-Z790J and it had Windows 7 preloaded on it and the audio symbol in the system tray had a red cross and I couldn't locate the sound card in Device Manager. I have tried everything possible, re-installing the specifed drivers from the Sony Website, div x diagnostic, device manager and still the Sound Card is not being detected and there is still an audio symbol with a red-cross in it.
After spending endless hours to find a solution on the web, I decided to use the Windows Vista recovery discs to return the notebook back to its factory conditions. It took 4 hours and still there is no audio and the sound card is not being detected. I ended up calling Sony to seek some assistance but they were no help and they suggested to book it in for repairs. However, since there is no waranty left, I can't afford to do this. Furthermore, I have also enquired about a new mother board and i was quoted $700-$800 - once again I can't afford this.
Can you guys suggest anything, or has anyone had a similar issue that they were able to solve. I really need help and assistance would be much appreciated.Thanks.

By the way now the system has Windows 7 64 bit.

Eight Forums,

So I open Zune.

I start a song.

It starts off at normal volume, at the quieter beginning part, but then it gets REALLY soft when the more louder part of the song plays.

It never did that before I did a clean install of Windows 8. Do you know what's causing that and how to fix it?

A:Music starts off loud then goes soft

Since you did a clean install, did you install the HP provided RealTek sound drivers? If not, give that a try.

If you didn't install the HP RealTek, all you probably have is the generic basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec.

Hi everyone,

I have been thinking about upgrading my Inspiron 3647 Small Desktop's RAM and graphics card for a while now and I would like to ask if it can handle 16 GB of RAM (8GBx2) and for any suggestions for an upgrade from a GT 625 that would fit within its case. The computer has 2 DIMM slots so I wouldn't think that 16gb of ram should be a problem. It already has 4 GB pre-installed.

Thanks in advance.

Ever since I got my second Video Card and went SLI I have had crippling sound problems. After playing for a while all sounds get replace with a high pitched squeal. This is only with games, not music (using WMP), DVDs (using WinDVD), and only with my sound card, not the (crappy) onboard sound (which has no problem). Some games may play for three minutes, others for close to fifty before this consistently happens. It seems to be simply subsistuting all sounds with this annoying noise. I quit the game it goes quiet, but music is now affected and DVDs have NO sound. Single GPU works fine (either card, either PCI-E slot), sound card in either PCI slot still causes the problem. I recently got a newer, better sound card but it does the exact same thing. I think it may be either a video card issue, or the motherboard. Is it something to due with the way the video card handles sound? Or the motherboard? HELP!! No need for help. I connected an old set of speakers to my audio card and it works fine; therefore, it only leads me to conclude that the speakers on the moniter itself are defective. The title says it all. I recently started playing Medal of Honor and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and on both games I get a frozen screen with looping audio which forces me to shut the computer down via the power button.

after doing some searching around on the net and trying various solutions, I have determined the next step is to disable on board sound. I know this sounds like a noobish question but, is there any way to get sound out of my computer? is there a BIOS setting that allows me to disable the on board sound but still get sound out my PC? these 2 games rely heavily on being able to hear what is going on,

I have an ABIT IP35 Pro with no secondary sound card.

A:Can I get audio if I turn onboard sound off without a sound card?

No that'd be impossible. if you turn off the onboard sound, how are you gonna get some sound delivered to your speaker or headphone?

you should try disabling the onboard sound and check if it fixes the issue. if it did, also try to uninstall your current audio driver and install the newest one.

looping audio does not always means the onboard sound is faulty. it usually goes on loop because that portion of the soundtrack is already loaded into RAM. therefore it still plays even when the computer froze.

the problem might lies in other thing such as video card or overheating CPU since you indicate it only occurs when you're playing games.

After the latest lot of Windows Updates for 8.1 my Asus Xonar STX no longer works and I get an error message saying

"an Asus Xonar STX has been detected but the drivers appear to be corrupt, please try reinstalling them."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the card and drivers and the card is still not working.

It is 100% to do with the latest updates, I have done a system restore to before the updates were applied and my sound card works fine. If I install the updates again, my card stops working, so there is no doubt it is the updates causing the problem.

There are no driver updates for my sound card either, so it's not driver related. I have also seen several other people with different sound cards on other websites reporting the same thing, so the problem is also not unique to me.

Does anyone know which update is causing it or if there is a work around?
I have turned Windows Updates off for now but I don't like having to do this and would rather find a alternative work around or fix.

Thanks in advance

A:Sound Card not working after Windows 8.1 Windows updates.

I haven't seen any where specific updates caused the problem you have. However, I have seen instances where someone has upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and the sound no longer works. I had that problem with one of my recording studio devices ( Roland Octa-Capture), fortunately Roland issued updated Windows 8.1 specific drivers.

Hello, my name is steven and I would like to begin by saying that I am an amateur when it comes to working with computers. I wanted to free up space to operate my computer faster and hopefully stop lagging while playing games or just browsing for that matter and it seems the only certain amount of RAM to add to increase my speed is the lowest that is sold @ kingston technology which is a 1GB card. Unfortunately, being the amateur I am, I was stumped here , http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/system_specific/server where they ask for my manufacturer, product line, and model. I plugged in all the numbers I could think of that might work for each but nothing matched when it came to the model # and I personally have no clue what my product line is so as I said I was just guessing I have all the information about my computer (from what I believe to be the complete transcript of it) and I just need to be able to answer the questions on kingston technologie's website so I can get my recommended RAM card that will hopefully be compatible with my computer. Nothing about product line is stated and the manufacturer of the cpu is unclear and so I would like help identifying the answers to the three questions posed on kingston technologies website.

I'm running a Dell inspiron laptop, if this helps, but I recently had what I believe was a virus on here, my internet security (McAfee and Windows Defender) were both being turned off from time to time and I had to manually turn them back on.
Then my laptop started slowing down so much it took 3 hours to complete 12% of a scan with only that running. I decided to do a system restore to about 2 weeks ago, hoping to fix the problem.

After 4 hours of it saying the same thing whilst trying to complete the restore (Windows is repairing the registry), I decided it was time for some intervention as it seemed to be stuck in some never ending loop.
I got the recovery CD and then turned my laptop off mid-restore, which it didn't like. Upon turning it back on I only got a blue screen and mouse, but I got it to boot from the CD and did a boot recovery and Disk Check. All is working fine, apart from I am left now with no sound.
(On a side note, the boot start isn't the same as before and it says that the Autochk is missing, Skipping Autocheck)

I've checked the device manager, which is telling me everything is working fine, apart from in sounds it cannot play a test sound.
I've run a Dell Support Center check, which told me everything was running fine apart from a PCI Family Bus Port 5 - 2495, which failed to run the test, but windows again was saying that this is working fine.
Apart from the fact that my laptop now has no sound, the only other thing pointing... Read more

Boot in safe mode with networking
Safe Mode

Download install and let the following program update and scan.
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer
Next run a secure file check (this can be done while still in safe mode as well)
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Okay once that is done and we know the source of your problems is gone.

we need to see if you really got rid of the problem files first.

Once you've done that post back with the exact model of your inspiron

This is a problem that just started after having my drive wiped and OS re-installed.

Sound plays quite loudly when played through virtually anything; media players, Youtube, Firefox and Internet Explorer, anything. Yet the sounds from certain video games are extremely low in volume, which has never happened to me before.

Also worth noting: At seemingly random intervals, certain sounds in the games would play at full volume.

Attaching my DxDiag

One thing I noticed is that in the Playback devices, the stereo mix always picks up sounds louder than the speakers play out, unsure if this is related at all.

Also not sure if it's related or relevant, but my original system had the hard drives set on IDE, but now they're both set on AHCI

EDIT: I think I've solved it. It was just a matter of turning on Loudness Equalization. Leaving it open because I wanna know if this is indeed the issue or just a quickfix.

A:RealTek audio loud, in-game audio sharply muted

I doubt that the loudness is the correct "fix" since the sound is OK except in games. Many games have an option for the sound level and can be adjusted in the game setup. Others use MIDI to generate the sounds.

How can I uninstall Dell Audio and only have the legacy Realtek Driver and Software in my XPS 14 (L421x)?
I installed some time age the default audio driver that I got from "Dell Drivers", this installed the "Dell Audio" + "MAXX AUDIO 4". I already uninstalled this thing, run CCleaner, deleted the folders, and downloaded and installed the legacy Realtek R 2.73 driver, but this thing (Dell Audio) is always installing with the driver.
My system audio is ridiculously loud. I need to put my system audio in somewhat 5~15 / 100% to get "normal audio", the only way I get realistic "normal audio range" is using my SteelSeries Wireless Headset with USB, this way the system audio goes to 100% automatically and I control the audio with the scroll located in the headset, even in 100% max audio, I get a "normal 100%", it's loud, but not EXTREME like the notebook audio!
Another problem, when I plugin my Apple Earpods, they simple doesn't work, I already tested them with tons of devices at home, and they are working great. The system doesn't even recognize them.
I think that everything would be resolved if I could install the Leagacy Realtek drivers & software, not this *** loaded with bloatware from Dell, I don't care about "MAXX Audio", "MaxxSense" and all this BS. If you look with attention, all the settings located in this "Dell Audio" menu are the same in the Real... Read more

A:Dell Audio + Headphone Jack + Loud notebook audio

I forgot to mention in the main post, and I can't edit it, so here it goes:
First, Sometimes I need to run LiveUSB Linux distros in this notebook, and the audio in them is all great, realistic audio range, 100% loud but not extreme, everything OK.
Second, I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro up-to-date.

Hi guys . 1 day ago i had a problem with my IDT audio on windows 7 . I couldn't set 5.1 option in the IDT Control Panel the setting jumped back to Stero options. I changed windows , changed alot of stuffs. I tried another way posted here that said to set 5.1 in windows control panel , this soultion was odd because in winamp was 5.1 but was a bad bad sound , no bass and with echo. I have to mention that in windows TEST all speakers sounds good , but music/video/apps/game.. ... This morning i found the best solution for everyone who's been in the situation. I found some drivers, that they rlly work , and you can change to 5.1 in IDT control Panel. I tested the drivers on Windows 7 Ultimate x32&x64 and i'm curently using them in Windows 7 Pro x64. I hope that everyone who had this problem, this driver will resolve . Cheers.

This just isn't my week. Whenever I boot up my machine (SONY VAIO VGN-FS742/W) and runs the "Windows XP startup.wav" it crackles and drags. Sometimes it boots up clean with no sound issues. I also noticed when I try listening to music via Windows Media Player it sounds terrible. The music would drag, then stop, speedup to normal, then crackle. This also happens when I try watching a DVD. I've already uninstalled Windows Media Player, then reboot, sound issue still there. Re-installed Realtek HD Audio Device, thinking this was the problem. But it wasn't. Not sure where to go from here without having to re-install windows to try and correct driver issue(s).

I just reinstalled windows and installed the latest realtek from here

I checked my playback devices, and it shows a green bar going up and down indicating that the sound should be working, but i can't here jack.

If i switch my sound in playback devices to my 42 inch flat screen, sound comes threw fine... i HIGHLY doubt my speakers are broken as they were working before i reinstalled windows.

Can anyone solve my problem!? oh and the title is funky so people will have an easier time finding this solution with a google search. That is if my problem is solved.

Hi everyone,

I am having issues with my sound(built in) and has been trying to fix this for over 6 months now.
Here are the details of the problem:

No sound after installing Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate or probably after installing the NVIDIA 9400 GT Video Card
still using VGA as my monitor only supports VGA.

Shows Azalia in Southbridge Audio Controller
Below that it shows HD Audio ( If set to this -- error in windows is "no device is plugged in")
If I change HD Audio to AC 97 (Windows will be able to detect my headset but no sound output)

Windows Environment:

AC'97 (bios setting)

Under playback the green bar is showing activity as I play an audio file, yet no audio output.
I checked Device Manager and driver installed is Realtek HD Audio (Supplied by Windows 7 same as the 9400GT drivers which was automatically supplied by Windows 7 upon installation.

Steps Taken:

1.) Try to uninstall the VC to isolate problem still no sound
2.) Uninstall and reinstall Audio Driver no sound
3.) Updated drivers ( Windows has the most updated driver)
4.) Manual update still no progress
5.) Tried install AC'97 Realtek ( test build so to install the drivers ) still shows HD Audio
6.) Used Driver Max to update drivers still nothing.
7.) I have magic jack (USB) and when I play a game while someone is using the phone, there is sound output on the handset.
8.) Updated Nvidia drivers still no sound
9.) CHeck headset and it works with my laptop

Loss of sound and audio
I installed the XP service pack 2 and suddenly I have no sound.
Troubleshooting steps taken ...
Replaced the old sound card with a new creative sound blaster live 24bit card, installed the drives and confirmed that the latest were available.
Still no sound…
When I put in a CD I get one of two error messages “sound card is used by another program” or “CD is unsupported format” when I use the music match software the program gives me the error message and locks up.
I get the "sound card used by another program error message when trying to play a wave file as well, but system does not lock up.
Going into the hardware device manager shows that the modem is the only option for audio in, there are no device conflicts.
Steps taken …
Ran the sound troubleshooting from windows to the point where it said it couldn’t help, no matter what path I took.
Set via volume to digital out - nothing
Booted from the Windows CD to run repair … no change
Reinstalled windows … nothing
Even tried to format the hdd but it would let me….
It’s not a real big problem – except that I spend a lot of time on my computer and would like to be able to use my 5.1 surround sound system.

If you decide you don't want or don't like Windows 10 and you want to downgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you have 30 days from the upgrade date to do it, or else you'll need to do a clean reinstall.

Hi. I hope someone can help me with this. I have a Gateway desktop Windows 8. Does Windows 8 come with a real sound card, is it one of those that is just for Microsoft sounds, etc? I am trying to record from my keyboard, but the output has to be audio, through Cubase (sequencing app.) via VST, which won't work if there isn't a sound card that can create the sounds I need to record myself with a backtrack.

I don't know if the audio part is baffling to some - I don't mean it be - but putting things a little more basically: Does the Realtek "sound card" contain the kind of hardware/software architecture, or whatever, to support virtual musical instruments (VST)?

Thanks and here's hoping someone has an answer to this endless conundrum, like a conveyor belt I've been on for the past few weeks trying to figure this out.

Living in hope.

A:Windows 8 audio card

I have a Sonar recording studio.

RealTek, as far as I know is only a sound card, not a DAW with VST compatibility. RealTek does have ASIO mode capability.
When I record, I use a Roland Octa-Capture for my recording interface unit. If has 8 analog channels and will also support MIDI.
I record, using Sonar X3, and then the VST's are used internally in Sonar for whatever I need, such as Reverb, EQ, or such as my Mastering VST3, Izotope Ozone 5.

Is the sound device enabled in the BIOS? If its disabled it would not show up in Windows.

Hello everybody,
I've been reading no-nonsense feedback on questions over here, that's why I will give it a try.
My problem is the horrible sound that comes out of my M-audio Firewire 410 module connected to a PCI Firewire card. Horrible as in : very silent, metallic sound. It plays the song (wav, mp3,... on iTunes/Winamp/windows media player/...) but very very bad.

The specs of my setup :
Own build PC :
GA-K8N-SLI with latest BIOS.
Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21GHz
2 GB Ram (2 x 1Gb Kingston)
Gigabyte GeForce 7300GS video
PCI card : Nec OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (3 x Firewire outputs)

Windows XP 64 pro version 2003 Service pack 2.
Bios & Firmware drivers and OS al up-to-date
M-audio drivers for 64-bit windows are beta :

Things I tried :
* Enable / Disable onboard sound in the BIOS : no difference.
* if I chose onboard audio, all works fine, but I need the in & outputs of the M-audio.
* Swap PCI card from slot 1 to slot 2 : no difference
* M-audio support suggested to check IRQ of the FW card :
- Bios sets it to 11 (= the same as the native IDE controller)
- Windows moves it to 19 where it is alone on the IRQ.
It all makes no difference the card still produces a horrible sound.

Things on my todolist :
* try the same setup with a 32-bit OS. (I still have an XP 32-bit somewhere)

Things I wonder :

I have been doing research and no success.
Duo core 2.6
8800 GT nvidia
Abit IP35

I have an HDTV toshiba T.V. which I doubt its that, but the computer.

I have installed numerous drivers and I yet to receive sound to my tv. I went to nvidia and there was some things to installed, but didnt seem to work. I installed realtek_233 and I though that would do it since it poped up and it added on my digital audio (S/PDIF) which it didnt say that before but no success.

Image of my computer sound options(click on link its a bigger image that works now):

The weird thing is it jumps as its playing and as soon as I plug in the speakers it works.

I found this on a website and I need to have the icon:

If so How do i get it. I also downloaded this nvidia drivers that I though would do the trick.
190.56 (people said it did it for them, but not for me)

I would really appreciate the help and the support if anyone knows what should I do next.

I recently had a problem with finding movie maker and getting that to work on my laptop. The movie maker problem finally got resolved. And I think it worked out after using the installer cleanup. Now I have a sound problem. I had previously downloaded some video editing softwarer such as blender, VSDC etc since the movie maker was not working. Once I was able to get the movie maker to properly install then I uninstalled blender and other video editors. I do not know if that messed up the sound playback on my laptop. But I cannot listen to anything. No audio files playback. From anywhere -  in movie maker, Facebook or internet. Just no audio playback, only some noise. Please help. Thanks.
