Q: From where to buy the T460 Internal battery and in...

With my recent purchase of a T460 Laptop, I found that this particular model doesn't comes with an Internal Built In battery in my country (India). Machine Type : 20FMMTM : 20FMA02QIG While searching for compatible Internal batteries here: http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/partslookup , It seems that there are two such batteries compatible with the T460 Model: 45N1773 and 45N1109. From where can I purchase/order these internal batteries and get them installed ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,  I bought a T460 model number: 20FMS2291P from Lenovo and have discovered that there is no internal(powerbridge) battery in the system just a black plastic "filler" case where the internal battery should be. I chose the 6 Cell 47wh cylindrical battery and as far as I can see there was never any option to choose "no battery" for the front battery. Could someone please guide me as to which steps I must take to rectify this.

I have a slightly more than one year old T460 that worked great until last week when it just wouldn't start at all. A complete brick. The warranty repair guy came over and replaced the system board but the computer still will not start. He was saying that there may be a problem with the internal battery. The internal battery is warranted for one year and we are out of the warranty period. Besides the fact that 14 months seems like a kind of short time for the battery to completely fail, I was wondering if I should expect a complete system failure when the battery fails. I have replaced many notebook batteries in the past and I was always able to run the computer on AC power until I was able to replace the battery. Is that not the case with the internal battery on the T460? Sure, I can replace the battery but I don't want to order a $50 part and wait a week for it to be delivered only to find out that the battery is not really the problem. Both the internal and external batteries showed OK status the day before the machine went into brick mode. I this expected behavior? Can anyone comment on this?

dear peoples i am currently experiencing a problem with the battery hot swap capability off my laptop. recently i broke one of the brackets holding the external battery in place making it moveable and able to lose contact to the device. This results in it being powered off, even if the internal battery is charged, detected and working. Scenario 1: Power supply connected External battery inserted -> Removing battery shuts off pc Scenario 2: Power supply disconnected External battery inserted -> Removing battery shuts off pc Scenario 1 & 2 work while booted or on bios level Scenario 3: Power supply disconnected External battery removed -> Can still boot and work properly Is this the intended behaviour? or should i be able to hot swap? I have to add, that support once swapped my mainboard for having the skylake bug. This behaviour has been observable since then. Cheers

The solution for me is to either hibernate the laptop and turn it back on or reboot it to detect the charger and start charging. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing tesame problem and if there is a solution for this.

Hi,  I've been using my TP 460 (Win 10) everyday just to study (Word, EndNote, Chrome... that stuff.) Just one week ago, my battery was performing just fine---it gave me 6 to 7 fantastic hours of fine work. However, now it only gives me 3 hours at its best. I know that batteries drain slowly over time (this is not my first ThinkPad,) but I'm pretty sure that this process doesn't happen in 24 hours! I repeat: just a week ago it gave me 6 straight hours ---seven days later, just 3 all of a sudden. There was one incident that I recall. About a week ago, the battery icon in the taskbar (Win 10 Pro) has gone: nor hidden, nor shaded---just gone. When looking at "Select which icons appear on the taskbar", in Settings, "Power" is on. When looking at "Turn system icons on or off", the "Power" button appears shaded, with no possibility of turning it on or off (even though it appears as "On"). I tried to clear all static from PC. So I removed the AC cord and the battery, and prepared to push the power button several times, you know... I didn't know that my TP had an internal battery. So, to my surprise, the computer started... and kept working for almost two hours. I waited until the power got drained. I put on the battery again, and the AC cord, and continued to work normally. After several restarts, the power icon returned... but my battery now lasts only 3 hours. What is happening? Any ideas, please? Details: -TP 460-Bought ... Read more

Recently I have purchased a T460 Laptop from Lenovo Authorized Store. When checking battery status from Taskbar, the Built In Battery shows the Error: Battery 1 is not available for use. I have checked the "Batteries" section in Device Manager and found there 3 sub options. On double clicking the option for Internal Built In Battery, it says: " The device is working properly ". Checked the BIOS and Internal Battery is set to " Enabled " . I have gone through Google search results and various solutions proposed here in the forum for similar issues with T440/T440p laptops but they didn't helped so far.  Any suggestions here ? Best Regards,Nitesh

I bought my T460 in order to have a giant battery life but this has not lasted more than 3 hours, according to the seller and the site itself, this model with two batteries and integrated board would have a autonomy of 10.4 hours, which does not happen. Hello,a week ago I updated the BIOS of my Thinkpad T460 from Version 1.07 to 1.10 and then some time later I noticed that from there on the internal battery pack was discharged before the external one. Normally it has to be the other way round. In the beginning I couldn't imagine that it has something to do with the new BIOS but today I installed the old Version 1.07 again and now it works just like before the update and the battery packs are discharged in the right order.I heard also Lenovo engineers and programmers read in this forum and so I decided to write about this problem here. Maybe it's possible to fix this bug in Version 1.10 with a new BIOS-Update. 05-01-2016:Today I installed the update again to see if it's a problem which doesn't appear every time and at first it was just fine, the internal one was discharged at first then the external one followed. But when I started to charge my thinkpad I noticed that now it's just here the other way round, so the external battery pack was charged at first and not the internal one as it would be normal. So I think it's really a bug in T460 BIOS-Version 1.10 which affects the Battery-Management.

Hello! I bought a brand new T460 6 weeks ago (received it one month ago), and for a few days, I've been facing a strange problem: sometimes, it simply doesn't start up whithout an external power supply, even when both batteries (the internal one and the removable 72 Wh unit) are fully loaded. No LED blinks, and I can't hear any sound but the 'click' of the power button (which seems to work normally) when I press it, as if the internal battery wasn't enabled. This problem appears randomly, but most of the time when I'm travelling and carrying it in my bag. I've checked all the parameters in the BIOS, enabled USB charge even on battery, tried disabling the internal battery and then enabling it again by plugging in the power cord, clearing the BIOS, but none of this worked. I have to admit I find quite frustrating to own a ?1,200 laptop with a true 14-hour autonomy (I tested it, and was really impressed), but not being able to turn it on without an electrical outlet... I would also prefer not to return it to Lenovo because I need it to work. For the moment, the only workaround I've found is to start it before leaving, and put it in sleep mode, which isn't optimal in my opinion, since I still lose actual autonomy - and anyway, I shouldn't have to do that on a new laptop. Has anyone encountered the same issue? Is there a reliable solution, maybe a BIOS patch or whatever? Thanks for your help!

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Many thanks in advance  When on battery, the Internal Battery discharges First, then, the External Battery. I got the machine around a week ago, and my internal battery has already gone through 8 cycles (when reviewed through the Thinkpad Vantage App). Yet, the external batter has only gone through 1 cycle. Given the ease of replacing the external battery, and that Thinkpad advertised a "hot swap" battery bridge feature, I do not find a rational for the current discharging behavior. There is a relevant posts on Reddit, but draining both of my batteries does not get things back to normal.External link: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/83vqj5/t480_internal_battery_draining_first/

It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.

I have received the dreaded 601 error before my start-up process.  I ran the battery check through the operating systems' diagnostics (F2) and it said it would need replaced due to use over time.  I also ran the battery charge check through HP Support Assistant and it said that it was very weak and possibly needed replaced.   How do I replace my internal battery?  The website that HP Support Assistant took me to only had the external batteries available.

A:Internal Battery Error (601)

Can we have your full model number? I think the error you are seeing refers to the "main", large battery and not the little clock or CMOS battery. Is your system closed so that the battery is not easily removeable? The full model number will point us to the right service manual which will show the part you need and the replacement process. Also need to know what country you live in.  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108

I think its 65+I have noticed that when i remove the battery, the laptop turns off. Shouldnt it have an internal battery? Is there a version of T440 that doesnt have this battery? If so, can i purchase one and install?

Hello and welcome,

Some models do not have an internal battery:

I can't say whether they can be added.  Hopefully others here can address that.
