Why Windows 7 sound when AnyConnect VPN connected while the sound setting showed sound=none for AnyConnect

Q: Why Windows 7 sound when AnyConnect VPN connected while the sound setting showed sound=none for AnyConnect

When Cisco AnyConnect VPN is connected, windows 7 has a sound constantly. I went to the sound settings and made sure that sound is off for "AnyConnect" but it still sounds. The sound disappeared only if I turn all sounds off.
But I want keep other sounds, just do not want sound for this event.
This just happens recently, AnyConnect did not sound before.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks for any tips!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to connect to my work related applications. I am wondering if there is a process to be able to access a non-vpn internet connection while at the same time utilizing my vpn. Basically, I want to be able to access any number of online sites and bypass the vpn limitations. Thank you for your assistance.

The T430 prefers to pick sound from its in-built mic. Your quick assistance in helping me resolve this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks. MDi

Is anyone else having this issue and do you have any solutions for this? We are using a software application that is using port 16011 to open up a map. Below is what I'm experiencing.

Win XP Pro & Anyconnect = Works
Win 7 32bit via wired network not using Anyconnect = Works
Win 7 32bit via Anyconnect client (On any win7 machine I try not just one) = Fail

When it fails the software application simply locks up and then I receive a java binary error.

Here's what I have done to this point with no success:
1) Reinstalled Java and Anyconnect;
2) Reinstalled older versions of both Java and Anyconnect;
3) Tried using the Cisco VPN Client instead of Anyconnect;
4) Spoken with Cisco and verified that port 16011 is in fact not being blocked on the firewall/asa;
5) Turned off all firewall services on the local host;
6) Have tried running as administrator, running in compatibility mode, etc;
7) Unchecked IPV6 on the Anyconnect connector

The last thing I ran into was that this could be an IPV6 issue but at this point I'm not sure and I don't know where to go from here. I have had cisco tech's look at the router several times and I have verified everything with the software vendor. Any new direction would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been troubleshooting this for a while now. I've researched the Internet to death and have tried nearly everything I've ran across (so I may have missed something on my list that I've done) thus why I'm posting this.

I have good sound with other speakers on this desktop, but I wanted to save some workspace on my desk, so I recently got a new AX510 sound bar and attached it onto a Dell 2208WFP monitor, one of the monitors listed for that soundbar.  It powers up via the AC port built in to the monitor, just like it should, and I've correctly connected the audio cable on the soundbar audio output on my desktop.  But there's no sound at all.  I did get a static "pop" once... but no other sound.
So I am trying to figure out whether the sound bar is defective, or if this is possibly a Windows 10 issue, as I've read a few odd posts on the internet about people suddenly finding that previously working sound bars don't work in Windows 10.... or some other incompatibility (my desktop is a Studio XPS 8100, Windows 10).  I realize all of my equipment is not the latest, but it's all been in great working condition and the one new addition is the sound bar... I did plug my old speakers back in again, and they still work just fine.
I was thinking I can test the sound bar by connecting it to another computer at work (tomorrow) that's running Windows 7.  to determine if it's a Windows 10 issue -- or if it just doesn't work at all -- but would that be a definitive test it's not a Dell computer?  Any other ways to diagnose the problem and pin it down?  I can conceivably still return the sound bar if I determine it's defect... re JAL Cb 2800VS system running Win Xp Home- Altec Lansing 251 speakers- surround sound

"I bought this system 4 months ago. i am concerned that I may not be getting the full 5.1 sound. When I went to play a DVD film with the bass woofer speaker set to 6 the 2 rear speakers produced no sound. It is only when i switch back to 2/4 setting that they work but I suspect are just duplicating the front L& R speakers to simulate surround sound.

Is it anything to do with how i have wired them up. the back of the base unit doesnt correspond to the 251 system booklet. The 3 top vertical connections ( back of base unit) are marked ( from the top) cntr/lfe pink; rear purple, s/pdif-yellow. The leads are unhelpfully BLUE, GREEN and YELLOW so do not match. Also the yellow jack is too small to take any lead.

The horizontal set of 3 below are coloured yellow ,green and blue! Yellow has a microphone symbol, green has a " tree" symbol above it as has the blue.

A:Solved: sound help setting up 5.1 surround sound

You only have 2 Channel audio.

You can use the Matrix(Surrround) button on the speakers to get audio from all the speakers when using only a 2 channel input but its not as good as having true 6 channel output from the PC.

Or you can buy a Creative Live! Or Audigy card such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102003

Please can someone shed some light for me,
I've had to install Cisco Anyconnect VPN for all win7 laptops. All is fine in terms of users can access VPN and get on to our network.
but once you quit VPN and disconnect. You cannot get internet access.
I originally thought this was due to users not correctly disconnecting or shutting the machines down prior to returning to our office.
But i've correctly disconnected and quit and the same issue occurs.
To fix I have to;
internet options - connections - LAN settings - and then re-tick the Auto detect settings

This is fine for me but I get around 5 calls a day for other users who need this two second fix.

I cant really keep doing this for eternity or until the business decides to remove Anyconnect.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a permanent fix?

many thanks

Cheers all,

Problem is as stated in the thread; I downloaded, untar'd and set the theme up today. I know it's specifically the "Close Window" sound since it's unique from the others. I'm referring to the following actions in particular (there may be more things I could do to proc it, but I haven't checked yet)...
Opening a Program
Opening a Folder in Windows Explorer
Starting a new Windows Explorer Session
Closing a Window (expected function)
Closing a Windows Explorer Session (expected function)
Those not followed by (expected function) have a different sound assigned to them, although the Close Window sound plays anyways. Not always immediately after the action is performed, either - there can be anywhere from a 1 to 15 second delay before the .wav plays.

The sounds are located in C:\Windows\Media\AltimitOS\ with AltimitOS being a custom folder I copied in. I originally untar'd everything to the desktop, then created and moved everything into the folder and tried running the theme from there. I've made sure all file paths are leading to the \Media\AltimitOS folder.

Any help is appreciated. Cheers,

Good Morning Guys -
I need assistance with an issue I'm having with VPC, please.  Recently, we retired an old Virtual environment and for ~10 users we copied their VHD to their local PC, installed Microsoft VPC (they sll run Windows 7 x64 Ent), and build a new VM around
it.  Once finished, the user could simply launch VPC to use the same VM they previously connected to via RDP.
Shortly after setting this up, we ran into a big issue.  Many of the users work from home and VPN in.  When connected to the VPN (using AnyConnect on their laptop which is VPC host) from home, their VPC couldn't contact any domain / work network
resource.  For some reason, the VPN connection wasn't passing through.  Thinking it was an easy fix, I changed their VPC Virtual Network adapter to "Shared Network" (NAT), but that didn't work.  I then tried assigning each of the adapters
possible to be assigned to the virtual NIC and still - none allowed passthrough.
My Issue / Question
How can I get VPN passthrough (from the host) to work for these VPC VMs?
Below are a few details about the environment plus what I've tried to get it working so far.
Environment Details

All VPC "host" systems are on Windows 7 x64 Enterprise and are or are close to being fully patched.  Each uses  Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.1.03103 to connect to the VPN which by default allows LAN traffic when connectedThe VPC version installed i... Read more

I've been suffering from Cisco AnyConnect VPN client problems for a couple of weeks.
I had been a successful user connecting to my company's VPN, for years, but then tried to use the Client to connect to a different VPN server at my university, for a one time use to get access to a research paper download.

Woe woe woe. Woe woe woe.

Never do that!

There are tight version bindings between the particular client and the particular server.
Once my installed client had talked to the university server, the client would no longer talk to the company. Deep modifications had taken inside applications data folders and the registry so that from then on it would make the university server the default, and fail to establish a connection when I tried to direct it to the company server. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the client would not break the binding to the university.

Eventually I had to go through the registry, item by item, delete every registry key that involved AnyConnect. Also, I had to track down AnyConnect applications folders. Once that was done, the client would once in a while talk to my company again.

Adding misery to the process is the awful web based installer for AnyConnect. Rather than being a simple .exe running the installer, the only way to successfully install AnyConnect is by invoking the web based installer which invokes the epitomes of reliability - ActiveX (after giving the VPN server key full trusted party status) and the Java Runtime plugin.... I have been trying to access a server while not on location that I need to be able to upload files to and also view files placed there by others.

This is actually for a class I'm taking at University and I have tried Tech Support there and thus far no one there can help. They had me try to map a drive to my computer but that was unsuccessful.

I can connect to the VPN using Cisco Anyconnect under a split tunnel (which is actually a new development...couldn't even do that as of yesterday) and the next step I was instructed to take was to set up or map an a new drive and type in the address for the server and then I'm supposed to get a prompt for my credentials but they are not accepted and I don't understand why. I am not sure what I may still need to do or what I may have actually done wrong that is preventing successful connection to the server.

Another suggestion I got was to consider that my antivirus program is blocking the VPN in some way but I don't think that is the problem anymore.

In fact, I specifically receive an error message that says to check my spelling otherwise there may be a problem with my network but Windows is unable to identify any issues. There is also an "error code: 0x80070043 The network name cannot be found."

Would it be possible that this has to do with a firewall?

Any sort of help/suggestions will be appreciated.

A:Reinstalling a sound driver for onboard sound from a pre-packaged Windows XP

normally you can go to the manufacturer's website and download the orignal OEM drivers for your computers model and series.
usually under Customer service and support or downloads on the companies' website.

If not an OEM install from a major manufacturer such as Dell or Compaq etc, then you should still be able to find out the manufacturer of the motherboard itself and go to their website and do the same

I just started getting this error today. I thought it was due to some malware I had gotten but the malware forum tech support said everything looks fine. I get this message right as my VPN is about to authenticate. Can anyone help? This is driving me up the wall!

I use Messenger and the Messenger API, both of which can access what they call the "Tuning Wizard" which lets you select which sound card in the system to use for audio I/O. In my system for example, I have a USB device that acts as a sound card and a Creative Labs sound card.

Is there a Win32 API (or any other API) call that will do this automatically? For example, I'd like to automatically have my program set the sound card to be the USB device.

Recently my desktop decided it wasn't going to co-operate anymore. After a lot of googling and many patience lost I decided I would throw in the towl and ask for help lol.
I have no sound whatsoever, not from mp3s and not from streaming. Streaming video chops every half a second, but I can play downloaded avi video, still with no sound.
I ran malware bytes, no infections. and nothing from avg.
I tried system restore, both times it failed for some reason, at 2 different restore points.
my video card is working and so is my sound card.
im a do it yourself type person but this one has me beat, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A:Suddenly, no windows sound and no streaming video/sound.

I have the same problem.  Yesterday morning I booted up and all of a sudden there is no sound.  And Windows media player will not work ... no video or audio.  I have checked all cables and connections...plugged in different speakers and checked for system sounds which don't work as well.  I get video  from movies and videos with GOM player and internet videos but no sound.
About concluded that motherboard may be cause, but really don't want to install a new one.
Does anyone have a better idea?
Please advise

So my sound has recently stopped working. What I did was I uninstalled the driver and restarted my computer and the sound worked then it stopped working after that. The sound options are grayed out and I am unable to hear. Could a virus be causing this? Everytime I turn on my computer I always get 35362.exe and random numbers like that. What type of virus is this? Is this a cause of this?>

A:Sound stops working after Windows XP Introduction sound

I have also lost sound after an XP upgrade. I was told it is because the sound card in 8760C will not work with XP and I need to install a new sound card.

I took the back off and everything is so covered and hidden (multiple screwed on panels with no obvious way to remove them). I used a flash light to get a better look at the sound card and it looks customized for HP. It does not look like the Dell sound card I pulled from another unit.

So... where can I take this PC to get a pro to replace the sound card with something that works? Dallas, TX

I wanted to change my laptop's startup sound to a custom sound and saw a guide on the web, and so I went by:
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > 'Sounds' tab
But then I cannot find the 'startup' option in the list of 'program events'. I checked thoroughly but I still could not find it. Can anyone offer a solution to this problem? Answer back as soon as possible, and thank you.

Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit. I finally got video and sound to come out both the mobo and the NVidia video/HDMI card.
MOBO is Foxconn G41MXE. Sound system on mobo is NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition audio Controller, by Intel.
Video Card is GeForce GTX 550 Ti, with NVidia GF116 High Definition Audio Controller. Video card has HDMI output
connected to TV set, containing both video and sound. (Video from NVidia goes to both monitor and TV.)
Windows 8.1 with all updated drivers, as far as i know, based on two driver update apps. In Windows, there is
a significant delay between the audio coming from the mobo sound to the local speakers and the sound out of the
TV set. In PCLinuxOS on the same machine, there is hardly any delay. It is thus painful to watch a movie or a Youtube performance with any kind of speech or singing on Windows, due to the lack of lip-sync.
I need to know of there is a fix for this, and if so, where do I find it, or can somebody please post it here?

Thanx for your assistance--doug

A:mobo sound and HDMI sound not synced in Windows 8.1

You are using two separate "sound cards" (chips) at the same time (one in the Video Card and one on the motherboard). The processing in the chip can cause a delay or out of sync. Windows is designed to only have one default audio playback device. Circumventing that can cause problems, such as you hear.

I've had this problem since windows vista, in windows xp i could record my line in perfectly, without any problems, but now, even if i enabled Stereo mix(tried mono also) it won't make any sound when i try playing some music.

Anyony that can help me with this?

Also, as stated in the title, i'm using an USB sound card device.

Hi Coolman12 and welcome to the forum!

I did some digging regarding your Zalman ZM-RSSC, unfortunately zalman never released vista driver support for it. If you were able to make it work for Vista, you're chances to make it work for Windows 7, that pretty much tells you that you're out of luck

But there's probably one thing you might be able to do to make it work. Please try the Windows 7 Driver solution. It could be worth a shot.
