I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I am currently looking at purchasing a Samsung 730b or 740b. However, I'm getting conflicting reports about the colors that it can display. Some websites (and the brochure) say that it is 6bit Dithering (16.2M colors), while others say that it's 8bit (16.7M colors).

Anyone have one of these monitors and know if they are actually 6 or 8 bit?

Thanks!

Trying to determine the maximum amount of RAM the ThinkPad T480 can take, however there is conflicting information provided by Lenovo. On Lenovo's online New Zealand store it mentions that the ThinkPad T480 CPU will need to be upgraded ("Upgrade the processor to select up to 32 GB of memory") in order for the max RAM to be 32 GB (in the customise section) which is very confusing, yet in the ThinkPad T480 Product Specification document it mentions 32 GB RAM for all CPU configurations. Lenovo haven't responded to the ThinkPad T480 sales enquiry I have submitted, which includes the question on the ThinkPad T480 max RAM. On Lenovo's online New Zealand store the chat function is broken, and there is no clear information provided about their contact hours. Is Lenovo's New Zealand sales/support team on holiday?

Hi there...

Finally decided to upgrade to Windows 10 and have downloaded all updates. However, When I click on the GWX icon, it says my PC can't run 10, claiming a compatibility issue. Then, after I click on "view report", it tells me I'm ready to upgrade.

Is this some sort of bug? The upgrade in the updates section is checked as if it's ready to go....

Thanks for any help you can give.

Secunia is reporting that the following is out of date and is vulnerable: -

"Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)"

This seems very strange for the following reasons:-

1. 2005 is a long time back. I run Secunia PSI once a week. Why is it only reporting this now?

2. Microsoft Update does not report this as being out of date.

The Folder information is the normal Microsoft Windows Folder for this software, so it is not another version installed by some 3rd party software.

Any thoughts or is anyone else getting this same message when running Secunia PSI on a Vista system?

So, on clean install, I am trying to install all my drivers. Obviously one of the network cards is covered. Now, I go to device manager, look through, to find the latest driver. Here is the driver I am working at this moment:Intel 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641.On one driver website which lists the device exactly as listed, I see this message:The Intel? Chipset Software Installation Utility installs the Windows* INF files. The INF files inform the operating system how to properly configure the chipset for specific functionality, such as AGP, USB, Core PCI, and ISAPNP services.**Note**This is the last version of the Intel? Alright well recently, as in the last couple of days, I have been having problems with my internet. At random intervals of the day my computer will tell me that it is connected to the modem but the modem is not connected to the internet. However when I look over at the modem all of the lights are on and flashing like they should be. The DSL light is on and the Internet light is flashing to show that it's working. Furthermore if I go into the setup page for the modem using my browser the status page there also tells me that the DSL is connected and that the LAN is connected as well.

This happens randomly and when it does I attempt to correct this myself by changing my static IP settings and DNS server settings. Eventually it does start working again but I don't know if it is because of something I actually fixed or by random luck. I hope you guys here can help me figure out this problem.

I have been purchasing from Dell for several years now and have been very happy with the customer service and products until now. I recently purchased a desktop and monitor and this past order the service was totally unacceptable. First I spent approximately an hour and a half, maybe more, on chat and phone placing the order. Once placed I was under the understanding that it would be a 1-2 day delivery. I was also told I would receive a confirmation email shortly after my call. I never received an email so called 1-2 days later only to be told there was no order…I spent a lot of time on the phone with customer service and the bottom line was I was told to place the order again! I wanted a computer that could accommodate two monitors and was told mine could.
Hooked up the computer could not make the connection. Called back was told I could not hook up 2 monitors and would need a different video card. Installed recommended video card. Now must start computer several times to get screen to work. Called customer service 4 times in one night as they kept hanging up on me. (Not the first time) Over an hour in calls the one guy who stuck with the issue said that I did not need the new graphics/video card and that I only needed an adapter. I called “Advanced” customer support who I have been dealing with since I wrote a letter to Michael Dell of all the issues I have been having. (Not all are listed here)

Hey guys, how's everyone doing? I am having an issue changing the OEM system information in Vista. I can add all the information about my company, but the logo is doing something odd.

I can fix the issue with the pixel resolution, that's pretty easy. It's flipping the colors. It's a blue and white logo (visit http://digitalsanityservices.com, it's on the top left), and it's making the blue part white, and the white part blue. I used Adobe Illustrator to flip the colors in the hope that it would then flip them back to the original. No go, it displayed it the same way. Windows 7 does the same thing, XP and below works fine.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure when this problem occurred as these are services that I seldom use but I had reason to do so this morning and found I was unable to launch either service.

Yesterday I performed an upgrade re-installation of XP in an attempt to deal with some boot up and occasional BSOD issues I had been having that had eluded all other repair methods I had tried. I did this in a last ditch attempt to cure the problems before committing to a laborious clean install.

I do not know if the loss of these services pre-dates the re-installation. The boot up issues were resolved by the re-installation. I have had 2 BSOD crashes since the re-installation though whilst I was trying to solve the problem

I have searched for solutions to this problem and have so far:

replaced my index file in C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\OFFLINECACHE
performed a complete rebuild of help center
run Windows File Protection to verify and replace protected files

None of these have solved the issue.

As an aside - I doubt this is relevant - I have also been suffering from an unusual issue with the volume being constantly zeroed (not muted - the slider is set to zero) every time that I reboot. This requires me to reset the system volume to desired levels every time I reboot and is frustrating, but hardly life changing. I have looked through all options on my sound card and in Windows Sound and Audio Devices and can't find a reason as to why this would happen.

I don't think the issue is malware... Read more

A:Solved: Loss of Help & Support and System Information

I have solved the issue. Shortly after I posted this (using Firefox) I realised that IE7 was also not launching. I uninstalled IE7, then re-installed IE8. This seems to have cured the Help Center issues. All that for a piece of software I almost never use and would rather wasn't on my system!

I still have the irritating volume issue, so I'll re-post that as a separate problem and mark this thread solved. Thanks for reading!

If I try to use any Office programs to save a file to the Documents folder, I also get permission errors. I can move the file to the Desktop and work with it just fine. I can then move it back to the Documents folder.

Here are the errors when trying to open files:
Word - Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges
Excel - 'C:\Users\xxxxxx\Documents\Book1.xlsx' could not be found
Powerpoint - The path or file name for C:\Users\xxxxxx\Documents\Presentation1.pptx is invalid.

When I try to use one of these programs to save to the Documents folder, I get the following error:
You don't have permission to save in this location.

I tried copying the files two different ways to eliminate any lingering NTFS permissions. I used a linux box to copy from the old drive to EXT4, then to a linux formatted FAT drive. I plugged this FAT drive into the Windows machine and moved the files over but got the same errors. Next, I copied the files from the old drive to a FAT32 drive using another Windows box. Then I tool the FA... Read more

Hey, recently I've been having some problems with my internet, mainly revolving around IPs. I've searched the forums for similar problems, and have tried some of the solutions, but to no avail.
Basically, when I'm doing anything on my computer, the internet cuts out randomly, and also randomly comes back on. Sometimes the error just fixes itself, and a little bubble appears at the bottom of the screen in the task bar, stating that "There was a conflict in IP addresses." Other times it cuts out either until I press the repair button in the network connections window, or hard reset the router.
I have a D-Link DSL-G604T router, which is connected to my main computer, and have a wireless external network of a netbook/laptop, a wireless homephone, two Ipod Touches and a Playstation 3. I'm not sure if the Ipods or the Playstation might be affecting the IP or not, but I'm just including it in-case it might be the problem.

Event Viewer:
In checking the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools window, I can see a few things that might have caused the problem.

Security Tab: Failure Audit
IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to further diagnose the problem.

Here's the setup:
Windows 2000 server running DHCP and DNS, got about 15 clients, using a linksys wireless broadband router with 4 port switch to connect to internet. Everything on same subnet, all addreses assigned by DHCP. Everybody on the network is fine except for two stations.
One station is a wireless XP Tablet the other is a hard wired PC. The NIC MAC addresses are different and the IP addresses are different, however, when one of these two devices is working the other one is not.
Any ideas? I'm usually a pretty good troubleshooter but this one has got me stumped.

I recently put my two HyperX 120GB SSDs in Raid0 but for some reason my boot time is about 2 minutes. I have good reason to believe that my newer SSD is conflicting with my 2TB Western Digital Cavier Black HDD. Earlier today I removed my newer (Only by a month) SSD and the computer booted up in 15 seconds. I reinstalled the SSD and it booted in about 2 minutes (and continues to do so) and this was prior to me putting them in raid0. Furthermore, when the SSD was out my 2TB drive was recognized in the bios where as now it does not. I do not understand why my 750GB HDD shows up though but I am not able to access it. I've check both Device manager and Disk management, but neither show my 2TB HDD. I've seen several threads similar to my problem but none quite the same. I'd appreciate any insight given on this matter. Thanks!

Things I have done:
1. Redo Raid0 and reinstall windows without HDDs installed.
2. Flash BIOS
3. Put HDDs in another Computer
I can't access the 750GB HDD nor can I format or change letter.

Also in the link, there are errors when you scroll down to the storage part that may be related but I am not sure.

Should I undo raid0 format both SSDs then put them in Raid0? Would that even make a difference? I am completely out of ideas on what to do because my 2TB drive is recognized in the BIOS if I install it without one SSD.

A:I believe one of my SSD and my 2TB HDD are conflicting.

What is on the 750 GB drive? Just data?

Did you purposely choose "dynamic" for that drive and if so why?

Do you insist on using RAID?

Hi, hopefully you can help me.

I have just recently switched from using a broadband modem to a wireless router for my internet.

I connect to my Xbox 360 through my LAN but since I started using my WAN both will not work together. Once the LAN turns on my internet stops working which is my problem.
The Wireless network does stay connected while the LAN is on but its just the internet connection that stops working.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I am using Windows XP
My Wireless router is a Netgear DG834GSP
The Wireless network is using DHCP and the LAN is using a static IP. I have tried changing the LAN to DHCP but it just gets stuck on "Aquiring Network Address"

after i sign into my msn & i see ive got mail, if i click on it, it opens internet expoler 32-bit, but it struggles to open or is very slow, how do i get the 64-bit IE to open automatically instead of 32-bit when i click on my 'go to mail' i.e. how do i disable the 32-bit IE.

Have you enabled Tabbed Browsing (Internet Options/General/Tabs/Settings)? Then I expect it should open as a new tab in the same browser. I'm using 32-bit only since I don't have a 64-bit computer, but when I follow your procedure Hotmail opens quickly. Also, I expect you need to make sure both browsers (32-bit or 64-bit) open equally fast since there is no reason 32-bit should be slower. Perhaps you could try a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

I've been using a certain anti-virus program and a certain anti-spyware program for the last year. I'm not sure if it's ok to say what their names are, they are not free programs.
Anyway, I renewed both of them, and the anti-spyware software was installed just fine. While installing the anti-virus software, a message pops up saying that the spyware program I have installed is a 'conflicting program' and it needs to be removed so the anti-virus program can be installed. Why is this? These two programs have worked fine with each other the last year that I've had them. I have contacted their customer support which I'm still waiting a response from.

Any help is appreciated. I am running WinXP. Thank you.
