Preferred Solution: Converting a .clp file to a Word 2000 .doc file?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Converting a .clp file to a Word 2000 .doc file?

Well, it appears that it could be one of the following file types:

You searched for file extension: .clp

Clipart GraphicProgram: QUATTRO PRO
Clipboard fileProgram: MS WINDOWS
Compiler Script (Clip List)Program: CLIPPER 5

So that depends.

You can always try, from Word, File-Open. Change the files of type to "recover text from any file" and try opening the file.

Don't forget to change the file types back to Word docs after you've used that file type or you'll forget and be in trouble next time you open a file.

I am having a huge problem converting a "rescued" file. I typed a document up in Word and saved it. (I know it was saved because I attached it to an email.) However, when I went back to open it up again, it was gone. It took me forever to actually find it on my computer, but it was in notepad format and a bunch of symbols and titled a rescued document. Even when I paste it to word, it is still all symbols. Is there any way to get back my original? Even if I can just see the words and have to retype it?

Anyone know how to convert a Publisher file to a Word document? I need to convert a newsletter for a client that doesn't have Publisher.

Thanks!

A:Converting Publisher file to Word?

The only way I've ever been able to do it is to copy everything in the pub file and paste it into a Word document.

Another option is for the client to get the trial version of Publisher. Once the trial expires, it will continue to function as a viewer (can open pub files, cannot edit or create them). It costs $7.95 (for shipping). More information on ordering the CD here.

Is there anyone out there who has AmiPro who can convert some old document files into Word format for me? Or tell me how I can do it?

A:Need help converting an old AmiPro file to Word

You can try asking for someone who has Lotus Smartsuite 97 Word Pro. That program can read my old *.sam Amipro files and can then save in a MS Word 7.0 *.doc format, which I expect can be read by you MS Word later edition.

I don't want to put my email address out in public, but if the moderator of this forum can receive your file and forward it to me I would be happy to try it for you and send it back in the doc format.

Hi. im using the Adobe Arcrobat 6. standard version. Im trying to conver a pdf file, which i scanned from a scanner, to a word file using Adobe acrobat 6. When i converted it to world file and i open it, i cant edited. it showed as a picture. How can i converted to a edited file ? any idea?

A:converting PDF file to Word Document formant

If its been scanned in as a PDF, then its just a "photo" of the page.

You need to use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert a scanned image to a document. Such software (Textbridge, Iris etc) usually comes with the scanner, but do not expext miricles with it.

Having the PC decide exactly what part of the scanned image is text, what is an image and correctly decode it to the relevant parts is complex and "consumer variety" OCR is usually less than perfect.

If the PDF is in electronic format (prior to being printed and scanned) software exists that will convert it directly to text (I use Solid Converter PDF) but this approach only works where the person creating the PDF has allowed such activities.

I was writing a long article on Word 2000 and decided I'd better back it up to A: So I Hit the "Save As" and directed the file to A: (There was plenty of room on the disk.) When I tried to open my original file it was truncated, with half a page of text appearing at the top and everything else just empty boxes or squares. I checked the properties of the file, and the word count was what I expected, except I couldn't see these words any more and have no idea where they went or where the boxes came from. About 1200 words. Fortunately, everything was fresh enough in my mind that I could rewrite from where the text broke off, slightly differently than the original, of course. I'm curious about what happened. Where did those boxes come from and where did the words go, and how do I prevent this from happening in the future.

BTW, the backup a: was also corrupted only more so. No text, only random boxes when I opened the file with Word.

Any insights?

Thanks

Hi.

I'm VERY sorry to hear about that. I wish I'd known at the time.

Heed my words, okay? They come from five years of hearing people in heartbreak mode.
NEVER USE FLOPPIES TO BACK UP ANYTHING. NEVER EVER.
Use floppies to take a not-so-important file from one place to the other.
Emailing a file to yourself is safer than a floppy.
ALWAYS keep a copy of the file on a hard drive somewhere.
Do NOT let the floppy contain the ONLY copy of that file.
Never Save a file to a floppy. ALWAYS COPY it to the floppy from your hard drive via Windows Explorer.
Never Open a file from a floppy. ALWAYS COPY it via Windows Explorer to your hard drive first.
When you save files to a floppy, the floppy must have enough room for the file and AT LEAST THAT MUCH ROOM AGAIN to create a temporary file of the original while you application access it.
The only REAL way to try to recover files from a floppy is to run a Thorough Scandisk and Defrag on it--and fixing all errors; and even then, it may not help.
Many of you who were not around when floppies were *the thing* may not know that floppies are very sensitive to cold, heat, moisture, and YES--MAGNETS. That INCLUDES the magnetic strips on the credit cards and grocery membership cards in your purse or pocket! They used to ERASE floppies by using magnets!

My office just switched to Word2000 from WP, and I'm trying to figure out how to put a file name/path field in a document AND have it automatically update when I save under a new name. Right now, I have to remember to right click and hit "update" or it keeps its old name, even if I've changed the name and resaved.

I'm running Word 2000 (ver 9.0.2720) on Windows 7 (64b) and have never had a problem like this, installed on my XP or on 7. Was working on a file and suddenly it had a hiccup. Said some disc error I think. So did a save and threw a numeral after the filename, thinking it should save a 2nd file. Nope, just one file now named Whey notes 2. Went to open it and small window 'in use by another user.' Also says it is 'write protected' but Properties says it is not. Copied and tried to open the copy and it's all oriental characters. Great. The folder also has a temp file now. Not sure what to do. Thinking the hard drive (relatively new) came across a bad sector (so I can do a scan but the disk is very new : )  ).

It's not my thesis but is very unusual. Only copying some quotes into the file but using Sandboxy. I can do a V scan later but I'm sure that won't be the issue. Sandboxy has been foolproof for years. Can attribute the hiccup to various paths w/don't really matter now. I can monitor. But how can I get this file back?

Thanks,

Mac

A:Word 2000 hosed a file

The disk error may have corrupted that particular file. Try moving it out of the folder to the desktop and opening it from there, and see if the error occurs again. Or, see if you can go back to a previous version -- look under the File tab. The number at the end of the file name indicates the computer autosaved the file.

My daughter has been working on a major final year high school project for several weeks using Word 2000 XP. She has consistently saved the file to floppy disk so as to swap between home and school PC but neglected to save to the HDD. Upon completing the project she attempted to load the final saved file from the floppy. To her great distress the file loaded in an apparently corrupted form with lines of text interspersed with numerous blocks of blank squares. The file seemed about double the original size, text was in an italic font and seemed to be randomly scattered and/or missing sections. She is naturally distraught at the possibility of having lost most of the data she spent weeks compiling and the deadline for submission looming. Can the file be reconstituted or recovered in the correct format. Why would this happen?. Any help/advice would be greatfully received. As a not so computer savy mum I am helpless to assist her.

I have MS Office 2000 installed on a new Windows XP machine. MS Word 2000 generally has worked well and continues to work well, except for one Word document that I downloaded from the internet (originally prepared on a Macintosh machine with MS Word 98) that won't open. It gives a message that a Read Only file can be opened, but in fact, when the button is pushed, another message arises that "MS Word must close." However, when I try to delete this MS Word document, I get a message that "file cannot be deleted because it is in use by another user or another application." I cannot even place this file into a folder as I get the same message about another user or application is in use. A Search doesn't reveal any other applications in use, so it appears the file was corrupted being downloaded, or the old MS Word 2000 has some incompatibility with the newer Windows XP?

A:Word 2000 - file size explods!

Open the file in WordPad. This will give you the text of the file.

Then save it as a new Word doc (or copy and paste the content into a new Word doc).

Check your attachments (the graphics) and see if they are huge or not. If they are huge, then optimize them before attaching them. If you don't have a tool to do this, there are some online freebies on the internet.

A coworker of mine was creating a Word 2000 document that included several small photos from jpg's, a few drawing objects, and some text and noticed that the file was well over 80MB. Turning off Fast Saves and "make backup" changed nothing. Doing a "Save As" did nothing. I even went as far as deleting everything in the document (yes, that's right, it's a blank white page now) and did a "Save As" and it's still 80MB+. It shows no versions are being saved either.

How can a blank document be 80MB+ and how do I "clean" it??

I've got some strange behavior going on with .doc files at the moment. Whenever I try to open a .doc file from Windows Explorer or a desktop shortcut, Word opens with the error message "Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions. * Check the file permissions for the document or drive. *Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space. *Open the file with the Text Recovery converter."

After clicking OK, the .doc file then opens in Word, apparently with no problems at all (I can edit, save, etc.). So basically the error message seems to be wrong, since the file does open properly.

I can open .doc files from within Word (File -> Open) with no error message.

The issue is more of an annoyance than anything else (since the file eventually opens up just fine), but I imagine it'll just become more irritating as time goes on. Any suggestions on how to resolve it? I've been poking around in the Folder Options -> File Types in Explorer without a clear sense of purpose.

I'm running MS Word 2003 SP3 on Windows XP Service Pack 3. If you need any further info, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

I had this problem a couple of months ago and it seemed to go away and now is back. I am writing a users manual and its getting big (4.5mb). Before when the file got to about 1mb, whenever I tried to save it (using either save or save as) word would abort and i'ld loose everything. I got around it by keeping my sections to under 1mb.

I am now ready to turn the document over to operations for their use and couple of weeks ago merged all 8 sections into a single document to see if I could. I did and its just over 4.5mb. There is 290 pages, over 200 screen snapshots pasted in as pictures and its 372,241 characters long. I was editing the document with no problems. Then all of a sudden word started aborting again.

When I try to save, the progress bar moves almost all the way to the end, the light on the USB drive flickers and then word aborts. The error message I see is for

Turn the document into a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat or any free PDF file creator. There are numerous.

Any printer will be able to work better with a PDF file in preference to MS Word. Especially when you have pictures etc in it, producing a large file.

With a large MS Word document you would be better saving the various chapters individually.

Word often has problems with large files.

In Word 2000 under Insert Hyperlink, Word maintains a listing of recent files or browsed pages that you can use to insert hyperlinks into your document.

Is there someway to "flush" that list, when it become so long or so outdated as to begin to lose utility for the end-user? There must be some way to do that, since I noted that my files list (either at home or work) recently was zeroed out in the last couple of weeks or months.

Okay, we have at least a partial answer to this question. Apparently if you flush your recently visited internet page history from your default browser, you will simultaneously delete the recently browsed pages under Insert > Hyperlink in Word 2000.

We're still in the hunt for information on how to deleted a list of the file locations that is also retained under Word 2000. Other entries?

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I saw your post right after you made it but I did not post a reply because:
1) Real life got in the way
2) I'm not sure that I understand your issue.
I'm not picking at your English, but this is important:

Your post mentioned, "another file is opens with that".

I'm guessing that you meant:
...another file is opened with that
or
...another file opens with that

Either way, the word open is really important to the description of your problem.

Let's just talk about Word for now.

When you open a Word, one or more temporary files may be created. This is normal and desired; but those temp file(s) should not automatically open in Word.

Please try this:
Close all copies of Word.
Open Windows (file) Explorer.
Double click on an existing Word document.

How many windows do you have open for the Word program?
(Hopefully, just one.)

How many files do you have open in the Word program?

Are you seeing this file that bothers when you look at Word or when you look at Windows (file) Explorer?

Please show us what you see and where you see it.
Here is a link with instructions about posting screenshots to this forum:

These are the instructions handed to me:

1. Download VCF-to-23andMe. The two scripts in this directory require Python 3.

2. First, run the data_to_db.py script using your VCF file as input. This generates the genome.db file:

> python3 data_to_db.py input.vcf.gz vcf genome.db

3. Then run db_to_23.py script using the genome.db file as input. This produces a file in the 23andMe format:

> python3 db_to_23.py genome.db blank_v3.txt 23andMe.txt

So, I go on command prompt and tried copy pasting the 1st command and I got a genome.db file but when I copy paste the 2nd command line (the one involving db_to_23.py) nothing happens. Youre supposed to start off with a vcf file and 2 python scripts to convert it. Im not sure how to do this.

All I have are a VCF file and 2 python scripts. If someone could describe the process from a fresh start to how I would convert it to 23andMe then that would be helpful.

Just a technical maneuvering issue.

I have a group of files I created in Microsoft Works 3.0 ( word processing and spreadsheets.) I have the original files on Floppy Disc, Scan Disc, and on my Hard Drive. I have tried coverters, and the best results I have received are partial, or full text with symbols. Nothing with the original documents creation form and font style. I have been told that the only true way to see these files in their original form is to run the files through Works 3.0 with Windows 3.0 with MS DOS. ( before Windows had its own operating system. )
Is anyone out here running Microsoft Works 3.0, with Windows 3.0, on top of a MS DOS operating system. These files should open in their original form, and then are able to be save in DOC. format. All helps are Welcome!

Hi,

So I was working on a document for work. The document is on Excel and has data from every month this year.

I was opening the file and the laptop then froze. I gave it a good 20 minutes but nothing, so had no choice but to hard reset (not even task manager was opening)

After turning it back on and opening the file, I was horrified to see that the data from April onwards was missing. 4 months of work gone. Obviously the file was smaller at 5mb than the 7mb it was when I was working on it. But then I found in the file location an Adobe TMP file. It had a random name (series of numbers) but was the same file size and date late modified was the time of the crash.

This must be my data. It's now a word file, but I can't open it with Excel. Is there anything I can do to convert the TMP file to the Excel document and recover my data?

Thanks

hi experts,

word 2010. the user claims to have worked on the file for a long duration and been saving regularly. came back to office and tried opening the file, wehrein user claims the file is corrupt and cant open it anymore. looking at file properties, it is only 4kb whereas the actualy file user worked on was more than 3 mb. any thing to try to fix it. have tried open and repair, tried changing the extension, searched PC for .asd and .wbk and tmp files which could have helped. tried few of the recovery tools ( recuva etc which are freeware , but dont findanything worthwhile with the tools.

have also tried looking manually in locations where there was possibility of seeing the auto recover files. user has already tried recover unsaved document option. thee is no shadow copy enabled on the machine, hence no chance of reverting to previous versions of documents.

any advice i shighly appreciated.

A:word file lost all data and file gone corrupt

howdy and welcome. The file could have become corrupted, especially if this cycle of saving over it has been going on for a bit. Do they have a backup of it? If not, may be time to recreate it. Try opening in wordpad or notepad, as well.

Does anyone know of software that can convert a claris works file (.cwk) to a Word file (.doc). ?

A:Covert claris works file into a Word file

The spec for "Conversions Plus" sounds relevant:

http://www.dataviz.com/products/conversionsplus/index.html

assuming you have $70 to spare (NB: this is not an advert). And that there's no File > Save_As > *.doc/*.rtf option.

Hi,
I received a HP 8200 Series cd-writer over the holidays and would like to copy some songs that I downloaded from Napster onto a cd. The downloaded songs are in mp3 format. I am told I have to convert mp3 files into wav files before I can copy them. I can't figure out how to do this though. I have done some searching, but no guidance anywhere. Help! Any advice would be much appreciated.

A:converting a mp3 file into a wav file

Most new writers have built in conversion for mp3 . If you select music cd and drag mp3's into record box they should record as wav's...however, I am not familuar with your writer, you can get a free programs to convert them here :http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-1896417-100-2235435.html?tag=st.dl.1896417-106-2.lst-0-19.2235435 I have not used this myself so read reviews before you get it..Good Luck..Rhett

I have a file, that will put all the truckstops and other such things on a Microsoft Streets & Trips program. It is a zip file. I would like to also be able to integrate this with my Delorme map program, but it would have to be a .dmt file to work. Is it possible to do this, and if so, could someone explain how to do it in simple terms? Thanks for any help.

I am a newbie here and a beginner so I hope this is the correct forum. I just bought my wife an ipod and burned a cd to my hard drive and then wanted to put it in the iTunes library so she could hear it on her ipod. I got a message that said the file would have to be converted from a wma to an aac file and it wouldn't convert it because it said I needed Windows Media 9.0 or later. I have 8.0. I attempted to download the newer version (I have Windows XP) but it would not let me do so as it said I had an unauthorized Windows on my computer. I had the computer built by someone and they loaded Windows so I don't know anything about that. Is there anyway I can convert these files without a newer version of Windows Media Player? Or is there another way to get them to the iTunes library? Really don't know much about this. Thanks

A:Converting From wma file to aac file

If you already have iTunes installed and running. You can just use iTunes to rip the CD. Just start iTunes and then place the CD in the drive. As soon as it loads, iTunes will ask you if you want to import the CD.

How do I convert an .ai file to a .dst file?

i just wanna ask which one is more ideal to do.

1. Directly convert a .dmg file (usually a mac file) into a .iso file (cd/dvd image file)

OR

2. Extract first the .dmg file to your computer then burn directly the extracted files onto a cd or dvd?

I'm just confused with this when i converted a .dmg file to a .iso file, the 5.84GB dmg file became 6.90GB iso file whereas when i extracted the contents of the two, it's size is only 784MB. That is: 5.84gb dmg file and 6.90gb iso file, when extracted it resulted the same to 784mb.

so i'm thinking if i just extract first and then burn. in doing this, i'll be using only 784mb on a cd or dvd instead of converting the dmg file to iso file before burning (which will consume 6.90gb).
that 784mb when burned onto a cd or dvd will make an iso file first using my Nero Burning ROM before writing on the the disc in which the iso size is only 784mb.

does the two methods i mentioned above make any change or will just result to same contents and format?

i don't know if the two methods will affect any files or configuration files. by the way, the dmg file is an installer that must be burned in order to use. that's why i'm much concerned of this as it may affect the data.

thanks for any idea.
