I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:window within window opens small

If you are talking about a program that uses MDI child windows (like many of the Office applications), the "small" (child) windows usually have their own minimize/maximize/close controls in the top-right corner. You can also try double-clicking the title bar of the small window. This will maximize the child window within the parent window.

I recently switched from XP to 7rc on my Mini-9, as I hear 7 is more efficient on the little lapbooks.

Before, I mapped several shared folders on a network drive to drive letters on my lapbook. Now I can't get network drives to work any more. When I attempt to "map a network drive" I get a network error.

(I had a brief moment of success in the course of setting up the new system -- so it seems at least possible -- but no more. And I have no idea what was special then. )

I've tried all the fixes I can google up for several hours... still no luck.

The configuration &c are the same as before my change, and other computers in the LAN (all on XP) have no trouble reaching the network drive... only the mini running 7rc has this new trouble.

my "taskbar and start menu properties" window's text is SO small. Some of my application window's text face the same problem. The text is tiny that make it impossible to read. I've reset the screen resolution, the text size from 100% to 125 ... but they increase the size of text and the icon on the desktop only, not the text in the window. I'm totally confused now. I miss the simple XP in the old time ... I'm using win7 premium, i don't know whether 32 or 64 ...

A:Small window and small text

The old-style display properties panel is now located at Control Panel -> Personalization -> Window Color -> Advanced appearance settings.

Whether these will have any effect will depend on the theme that you are using. If you are using an Aero theme, chances are this panel will be useless for you. If, however, you are using the Windows Basic theme, i.e. have Aero turned off, then this panel will work just like in XP.

These settings have nothing to do with whether your OS is 32- or 64-bit.

Finally, most programs have their own tools to change the font size. For example in Firefox you can press Ctrl and move the mouse wheel while holding that key. you will see the font size change.

Hope that helps.

When I launch IE7 it opens full size, as I like it to. However, each subsequent IE7 window I open is small. I would like all instances of open browser windows to be the same size. How do I do that?

A:Small Window

For a second IE Window>

This works for me.
Open Internet Explorer
Shift + click a link to force it to open in a separate window
Alt + Tab to return to the first window
Close it, leaving only the small window open
Drag the window edges/corners to adjust the size
Close the resized window

Another way,
Open one IE browser window. Click on a link to open a second.
With the second, drag the corners to the edges of the screen.
Do 'Not' hit the maximize icon. Close the first window, then the second
(the order of closing is important).
Make sure you do File, Close; do 'Not use the X button!

Another way,
Maximize Internet Explorer On Opening

Either way the next time you open a second browser window, IE saves the new default window size.

If none of those ways work, read the article in this link

I can go to a web site and everythink is ok. When I open a link that page opens in a small window. I can maximize it ok, but it use to open in a full size one. Any suggestions? I have checked everything I can think of. Thanks

A:Small window

Try this.......
When you open a new window and it is smaller than the normal Browser Window do not maximize but manually resize it to fit you screen then hold down the Control (CTRL) button and click the X in the upper right corner to close the Window. Retry your opening of new window and see if that corrects it.
Nore: You may have to use the Control X trick a couple of time to have Explorer remember it.

How do I change the settings for my windows? When I click on a hyperlink, it opens the window but not in the normal size.... it is very small, about 2" by 2" and I have to click on the middle square to maximize it.......... why did this happen suddenly? and how do I fix it?

A:active window........ too small

Start IE, right click any link on a web page, and select Open in a New Window.

Go back to the first IE window you opened and close it.

Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.

Don't use the maximise button, as that's a temporary setting that will not be retained.

Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button down, using 'close' in the File menu (This is important!).

This should force Windows to remember the settings, and windows will now open maximised.

I am using 8.1 on my computer and all is running OK; except one thing that I can't seem to solve. I have the programme 'Soluto' installed (and it runs correctly) but every time I click on the 'Soluto' icon the screen changes rapidly to show the Google Chrome design and then it changes to the black screen/small window style shown below. 'Soluto' is there, but compressed in the tiny window up at the top. Six small icons are displayed on the black screen; Google, Chrome, GMail, (I don't recognize the others) but in any case they don't function.

Can anyone explain how I open 'Soluto' onto a full screen? Thanks for any help.

OK, the problem has been solved. It seems there was some kind of incompatibility in my version of Google Chrome that was causing the error. I ran the troubleshooting software for Chrome and after a few tries the software opened in a full-screen window. 'Soluto' too now runs full size on the screen.

I've been told that IE 9 is a very good browser and even more malware-resistant than Firefox which is what I've been using. The first thing I'm seeing though, when trying Internet Explorer is that every site it opens it does so in a small (minimized) window which is VERY annoying and which Firefox never did. Is there a way to configure IE so that it opens a site in "full page" status? Oh, I've tried to enlargen the minimized windows by dragging the placeholders; but when I do it again, still the small windows open when clicking a link. VERY FRUSTRATING! And, it make me want to stay with Firefox which at least doesn't have THAT problem. If anyone knows of a way out around this, I'd surely like to find out. Thank you.

A:IE Only Opens In Small Window?

Window positions are determined by a registry binary blob, and the usual way to fix it is to close all instances of the application, open a new application window, size it the way you want, close it, and then open the application again. Are you stating that you've done this, and the problem still occurs?

For some reason, IE 7 now is opening in a small window instead of "maximized". Small annoyance, but I would like to reset it to open in a full window.

A:IE 7 opens in small window

There are a number of reasons why IE may open as a small window. For instance; if you launch from a shortcut and the page you are targetting has the size properties set at runtime or if you have it set to run minimised.

When you open IE from the start menu or quick launch toolbar, maximise it, click File > Exit then re-open it from the start menu or quick launch toolbar does it still open as a small window and what is your home page?

early last week, I had a weird problem come up where something (still dont know what) wiped out all of my buttons in the lower right of my taskbar. At first I thought that I could just work around it with rainmeter, but now I found a problem that might be tied into the icons missing.

I can't open the "connect to a network" window, when I go to the link in the network and sharing center it doesn't do anything (same with every other link directing me to the window). This normally wouldnt be a problem, but I'm a college student and need to switch networks a few times a day.

Does anyone have any ideas? (I already tried replacing the .dlls, changing the registry associated with those icons, and a few other things {theres a guide somewhere, and I did every step in the guide}). please, this i'm getting desperate

A:Internet Explorer window really small

Why does it do that?
Judging by the URL in the Address bar, because the site is doing User-Agent sniffing and misinterpreting your UAS as being a request from a Tablet device, e.g. one which you would not want to see the same presentation on that it might give to a Desktop device
for a widescreen monitor.
Does the site have a FAQ?  Help page?  Ask there?
Meanwhile you could see if it likes the User-Agent string presented for Compatibility View any better--IE7 in Quirks mode.  (Alt-x b).   Or use the Developer Tools, Emulation tab (F12, Ctrl-8) to experiment with other combinations of User-Agent
and Document mode.  If you find a better "emulation" you will have to apply it each time you need it but then you could try reporting the problem
here and hope that either the site would be updated to modern web standards or that Microsoft would provide a more usable override for you (via IECompatData.xml which might already
be there if you don't have Use Microsoft's list checked in Compatibility View Settings).
