Palm Tungsten E Outlook 2010 sync issues

Q: Palm Tungsten E Outlook 2010 sync issues

I have just purchased a new laptop running windows 7 64 bit and Office 2010 for Home and Business. I installed the lates Palm desktop software in an effort to sync my Tungsten E (2004) with Outlook. No dice. One recommendation was to purchase a USB/Moschip to link with IR. I would like to know if anyone is developing drivers to overcome the 2010 issue. I do not want to load an older version of Outlook.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dwight, Palm says clearly on their site that their drivers will not work on Vista x64. I don't know why, I guess they think no one is using a 64-bit OS.

I have a Palm Tungsten that I want to sync to a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have looked on the support forums for fixes and googled it, but I can't find anything. Some people say to use version 6.2. Other people say version 4.2. Neither work. I have also seen that I have to use a specific connection that's the only way to make it work. Is there ANY way I can get this to work?

I can get the software (Palm Desktop) installed and running, but when I try to sync my Palm to it, it just sits there for a minute, then fails to connect. The Tungsten works fine, my computer works fine, it's just the compatibility that's the problem... Help?

I just purchased a Palm Tungsten E2 PDA, along with a sync cable and charging cable (but without the CD software).

Understanding that Palm met their demise a long time ago, I was wondering whether this particular PDA is compatible with the Windows 7 Pro OS on my PC . . . and, if so, whether the software and/or drivers could be downloaded from some online site (which I can't seem to locate).

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Hi,

I just signed up for MS Outlook Live. In doing so my msn account has different mail, calendar, tasks, and contact folders to actively sync with my msn account. This is great; however, it did create one small problem which I know can be fixed (i just don't know how to fix it). I sync my PDA with my outlook; however, being that my new Outlook Live folders are not my default sync folders now... my PDA will not sync with my accounts correctly. Does anyone know how to set up your Outlook Live folders to sync with your PDA?

Thank you,

Hello,

We are using Exchange 2003 server and outlook 2003 client. I am having problems with recurring meetings with people that invite me for a meeting from other parts of the world within our company. We did a test where the person from our China office put the meeting on my calendar for Wednesday 6 PM my time(9 AM Thursday in China). It shows up fine in outlook before I sync however, the date somehow changes to Thursday 6 PM my time after I sync it with my palm. It would appear that the communications between the Palm Pilot and Outlook is flawed. It does the time calculation correctly but then it uses the recurring day of Thursday China time instead of the using my local date. I already checked the time zones and they are already set. This only happens on recurring meetings and doesn't happen for a one time meeting. The outlook date is still correct but the palm pilot date is the one that changed. I'm using XP. Has anybody seen this before? Is this outlook problem or palm problem?

Have a lady friend with a Palm on which she her son loaded an image of "camp" in the Media section. He then opened the image, and it replaced the "desktop" or plain system image with this camp photo. We cannot get rid of it despite a Hard Install, and total uninstall and reinstall of the Palm 4.14e download.

The camp image makes it very difficult to see the other icons to click on, such as Adobe Reader, Bluetooth, HotSynch, favorites and so on.

Yesterday, my Outlook (2010) stopped retrieving e-mail from the Comcast server.  When I tried to fix it today, it still wouldn't work.  All the settings were correct, but it wouldn't retrieve my e-mail.  I deleted the account and recreated it.  Now, Outlook points to a new .pst file instead of my old Outlook.pst file, named [email protected]  To make matters worse, it doesn't delete the mail off the server.  Before, when I would open Outlook, it would download new message to my Inbox and delete them off the server.  The new messages would stay permanently in my Outlook inbox.  No more.  Now if I manually delete one through my Internet browser, it also deletes it out of my Outlook Inbox.  It’s as though the new account is just a window to the Comcast e-mail server.  I tried changing the Root Folder Path on the Advanced tab of the e-mail account settings to point to the location of my Outlook.pst folder, but that made no difference.  I also tried deleting a recent Microsoft update (KB3054976), but this did not help, either. This is a complete disaster for me, as I can't even send e-mail now, except through the server.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Outlook 2010 e-mail account won't sync to Outlook.pst file

I figured this out.  When I reconfigured my e-mail account in Outlook, I used IMAP settings instead of POP3.  This was not how I did it before.  IMAP works great if one wants to keep all e-mail out on the server and access it from various devices.  That isn't what I do.  I changed the profile to POP3 and the poblem was solved.  Still don't know why it initially failed two nights ago, though.

A client of mine requested assistance with her Palm Pilot. It had been working fine synching between MS Outlook and her Zire Z71 Palm PDA. Suddenly, one day she tried synching and it generated errors stating that the profile was not found. Therefore, I came to her rescue. I uninstalled the Palm desktop software and Outlook conduits and reinstalled them. I also downloaded the updates from the palmone.com website. I performed a hard reset on the PDA. Then, I performed the tragic synch operation and apparently the settings were set for the PDA to overwrite the PC. Because there was no data on the PDA, it basically wiped out everything from her Outlook account. I then noticed there were over 1200 items in her deleted items folder.

My question is this: Is there some way to recover all contacts and calendar items from the deleted items folder so that they are organized back in their appropriate folders such that it is identical to how it was previously? I do not want to restore the emails, b/c they were not on the palm (there are too many and it would use up all the memory on the PDA). I also assume that she previously had some items in here deleted items folder before all of her calendar and contacts were dumped, so I probably do not want to restore all of the 1200 items in here deleted items folder, but maybe only those that were deleted on 05/28.

So I installed Office 2010 a few weeks back, and since then I haven't been able to use HTC sync to back up contacts, calendar entries or anything to at all to do with Outlook. I keep getting the same damn error:

"Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot fulfil the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client".

I figured this was incompatibility since Outlook 2010 was new at the time and HTC Sync had been released beforehand. The problem though, is that there's been a new version of HTC Sync since, with a completely new style and everything, but it still doesn't work.

Has anyone sorted this problem out?

GoodSync.com will allow you to sync Outlook... If you sync your desktop calendar to a free SwissDisk account then sync your laptop to the same account everything should match... Good luck and note, SwissDisk is end-to-end encrypted. So you can even safely sync your laptop Calendar over Starbucks free WiFi with no worries because you are connecting to SwissDisk over a secure link! Enjoy!

Hello to all you smart cookies out there.

I have been doing a bit of research about the topic but either I'm not finding it or I'm oblivious to the answer that is in front of me.

Here's the set-up: I am administering to a number of MS exchange accounts inside of a small company. The problem that I am having is with 2 of our "bulk access" accounts (e.g. 2 email accounts that 8 people/devices have regular access to).

Something in this setup has resulted in several thousand conflicts and sync issues being generated (about a hundred each day). The reason for this , I am fairly certain, is because of the number of people/devices that are synching with the account every second. That I cannot temporarily resolve.

What I would like to find out, however, is whether these emails are all duplicates and can therefore be safely removed, or whether some of these might not have made it into the inbox...

For the personal email accounts, it is a fairly simple process to see if emails are missing or present, but manually cross-checking for these 2 accounts is not possible. Here are some numbers to help you understand the problem:

Averaged over both accounts (WARNING ? THIS MAY MAKE YOU CRINGE)
Sync Issues
-> Conflicts: 4567 (generally about 4 per "real" email)
-> Local Failures: 67
-> Server Failures: 0

The fact that I'm getting no server failures tells me that the problem is entirely local.

Anybody know if these will all just be duplic... Read more

Well, I discovered the bad news that Windows Mobile Device Center doesn't work with Outlook 2010 if installed as 64 bit. Microsoft says to "fix" this by uninstalling Office 2010 and installing the 32 bit version! Ha! They have no plans for a real fix.

My question is are there any 3rd-party sync programs that will work with Windows 7 64 bit and Microsoft Office Outlook 64 bit and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices? I don't need to sync email but I do need to sync calendar, contacts, and tasks. And yes, I am aware that the iphone will sync with it! Silly Microsoft. I have 1.5 years left on my mobile contract with my Windows Mobile 6.5 phone, so I am stuck for now.

A:3rd party sync software for Windows 7 64 bit with Outlook 2010 64 bit?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any 3rd party apps.

In the case that none exist, nor will MS ever get around to releasing a fix - is it possible for you to uninstall the x64 version and just install the x32 version?

Sheila, Welcome to Windows 7 Support forums,
I will answer your issues in 2 parts! The issue of Iphone and Outlook, specificall the sync issue is not the fault of Windows 7 or Outlook. The issue revolves around Apple and the Itunes program. Previous versions of Itunes have a small bridge program which is an add on, the add ons are used for specific program calls such as Outlook, outlook uses the add ons to sync data from within their databases to import/export data to and from specific programs. When Office 2010 was released as a beta and now final Apple had not written the add in for outlook to execure. It gets even more complex as Office is now released in a 64 bit version so the Itunes v9.1.1 has no such add in yet.
The second issue of Outlook importing in pst files caused a corruption so I woulsd remove Outlook and re-install dependin... Read more

Am having some issues with Outlook 2010.

Program is locking up when first opened.

Icon on lower bar says " Outlook is syncing folders "

Sends fine, is getting stuck receiving 1 of 6 messages 7kb of 1.5 mb

Have gone into ISP mail portal & deleted all incoming mail. Looks to be trying to receive messages from couple days ago ?

I went off line & tried to delete a couple newer large ( 4-10 MB ) emails .

No luck deleting so when back online. Can still use the program somewhat.
Emails can be viewed , but not moved or deleted. Doing this will cause a premanent "processing" icon.

Still thinking those couple large files caused this & would like to find a way to delete them.

Other profiles in outlook work fine. Only the main default profile is freezing.

Thanks

A:Outlook 2010, and Windows Mail App wont sync

Solve the problem-

i found out out i was running 32 Bit Microsoft Office. I have a 64 Bit System. Removed, then reisntalled the 64 Bit version.
I then updated to make sure i have Office 2010 Service Pack 2 isntalled.

Not sure if this was the root of the problem. but my Outlook 2010 is now working again. I really dont use the Windows Mail App, so i dont know if that was fixed or not.

Hi there.
I'm using outlook2010 on two computers. Both have the same IMAP Gmail account set up.
When I'm accessing outlook 2010 on my laptop, I receive new headers but these same headers won't show up in my desktop outlook 2010. Since the same account is set up as IMAP no both computers, shouldn't I see the same inbox?

Thanks,

Gil

A:IMAP folders doesn't sync outlook 2010

Yes, you should. I had some trouble with Outlook changing my Port numbers when I would select SSL and TLS Authentication, which is likely your issue. Be sure to check the second computers settings so they are the following:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL:imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993 Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587 Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter [email protected]_domain.comEmail Address: your full Gmail email address ([email protected]) Google Apps users, please enter [email protected]_domain.comPassword: your Gmail password

Reference

I think MS is still working some kinks out with the IMAP intergration so if all else fails you can switch to SMTP in the interim depending on your OS.

Is there a way to have Outlook 2010 sync it's To-Do bar with a Windows Live webmail calendar?

I'm using Outlook 2010+latest version of Outlook Connector +Windows Live webmail. Calendar sync works fine in both directions but the Outlook To-Do bar only displays upcoming events from the local "Outlook" calendar, not my @live.com calendar (even though in the Outlook calendar pane the local calendar is unchecked and the @live.com calendar is checked).

A:Outlook 2010: sync To-Do bar with Windows Live/Hotmail calendar?

You can definitely do that, here's how:

1. Click on the File tab.
2. On the Info screen (should be the default one that appears after clicking "File") click the "Account Settings" drop-down button.
3. Then click on "Account Settings" to go to the Account Settings screen.
4. Once at the Account Settings dialog box, click the "Data Files" tab.
5. Select your default e-mail account that you wish to sync your calendar with. (This would be your @LIVE account.)
6. All set! Enjoy your new To-Do bar with updated @Live calendar information.

This will also change a couple other beneficial settings, such as auto-recognizing contacts that are on your LIVE e-mail account.

From Microsoft Outlook:

"The default Outlook Data File contains the calendar that appears in the To-Do Bar and settings for Favorites, shared folders, and RSS feeds."

Hope that works!

Hi there,
I recently upgraded my Outlook to 365 due to buying a domain, which is being hosted by GoDaddy. By upgrading it then deleted another email account which is being hosted by Hostica. I've tried numerous times to reload the Hostica profile back into Outlook365 but it refuses to connect to the server. I have deleted all profiles and now when I set up a new profile Outlook goes into "Not Responding" mode. Please help!
