input box error when using double as input

Q: input box error when using double as input

Dim piesky As Double

On Error GoTo Cancelled - On Error resume next
piesky = InputBox("amount to find", , 196.96)
onerror goto 0
If IsError(piesky) Then Exit Sub Else MsgBox 77
If IsNumeric(piesky) Then v = 1 Else Exit Sub
If piesky = "false" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = "" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = 0 Then Exit Sub

piesky is used to find row number

In blue is the code I tried. Nothing seems to work and if cancelled or blank entry gives an error

Why am I diming the input as Double? Cause nothing else works to find a $196.96 amount in a column
with my program except the double. Column is formatted to accountancy.

Preferred Solution: input box error when using double as input

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: input box error when using double as input

Okay guys, found a solution, the best I could with my limited knowledge.

dim wonky as double
userinput=inputbox (" xxxxxxx")
if userinput="" then exit sub

this then finds sums in a col like 99.99 which if the input is normal or currency or whatever
does not work in my program. Perhaps there is another dim function that can be used
that does not require all the above

Really having some wonk issues with these last two Lenovo products I've bought. It's nuts. Latest weird thing that's happening seems to be some sort of unintended input. Occasionally, I've had the focus repeatedly stolen from an input field I was typing in. I have to click on the field several times, only to have it taken away again, like the mouse is clicking elsewhere. (I've been having issues with clicking things accidentally firing double-clicks--maybe my mouse buttons are faulty? Both the X1E I returned and this X1C have done that.) The other strange thing that's happening is that in iTunes, if I pause my music, it will resume itself 5 seconds later, like the play button some keyboards have was pressed. But this keyboard doesn't even have that, as far as I can tell. It feels like my computer is inventing input. It's maddening.  Any clues? My opinion of Lenovo products has sharply dropped these last couple months.

I have a Dell D610 laptop w/ XP Pro SP2... or had.

I have a corrupted registry entry hosing the keyboard input. The mouse works fine up until the point when I kit the first key on the keyboard when under the Graphical Windows interface. After I hit any key, the mouse freezes as well. This happens if I use the laptop keyboard or an external keyboard connected to a PS2 jack.

I have performed hours of troubleshooting and it is not the keyboard hardware. Keyboard input works during all non-graphical UI (BIOS, Recovery Console, etc.). I even removed the drive and plugged it in to another computer. I made a copy of the WINNT\system32\config files (sam, default, security, system, software) and replaced them w/ a copy of these files from WINNT\repair. The computer boots to Graphical Windows and I am able to type in this session just fine.

How can I "erase" the keyboard driver corruption in the registry (or perhaps a corrupted driver file or set of files)? The problem is that I can't boot the system to a point where I can edit the "corrupted" keyboard entries. I can't use the Recovery Console because I don't have the Administrator password. So I tried to install SP3 from a bootable CD. The minute it asks me to type in the Product Key (a graphical dialog box), input is frozen a the first keystroke (even a key like Caps Lock). Can I actually edit the registry that resides on the boot drive while it is connected to another computer? Any other suggest... Read more

A:NO INPUT SUPPORTED--Desktop Computer Stuck On Input Not Supp...

Hi there @145755, I hope you find your Support Forum experience a positive one!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.  I understand that you have changed a setting on your computer and now the display is not working.  I am happy to give you a hand with this. Please post the full product number for your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.  HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? I would suggest you try to start your computer in Safe mode to load basic screen settings. See this document: HP PCs - Windows Safe Mode (Windows 10, 8). As you are unable to see the display properly at this time you will need to follow the process described for "Entering Safe Mode without access to Startup Settings".  If you are able to get in, then make the needed adjustments to your display settings, then restart your system normally to see if the display will come up properly. If not try a different screen resolution. Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Sorry for the silly question, but I am really lost with Windows 8. Did a quick search, but nothing came up (Keyword will only result in how to set input in Win8, not the problem presented here).
Here is the issue.

The short version of the question is how do I move the #@#[email protected]%$#^%$ (display gibberish somehow, boxed in red below) input method above Microsoft Pinyin, while keeping English as my default Display language and Input language.
Longer version here:
I use English and Chinese input, but the default MS Chinese input is "inconvenient", so I installed another input software for Chinese input (the gibberish above, or lets call it method ABCD).
The order I want is English as my default Input method and display, while ABCD as my default Chinese input (when I hit Alt + Shift, should switch from English to ABCD). However, since I can't get ABCD above MS-PinYing, when I Alt+Shift it auto switch to MS-Pinyin, not ABCD (Manually switch from MS to ABCD gets annoying).
In WinXp/Win7 I only need to manually switch to ABCD once, and the system remembers it, but Win8 for some reason automotcally load the language list on every start up =/
Also in WinXp/Win7, I can delete MS-PinYin while keeping ABCD (so I only have English and ABCD), but Win8 doesn't allow me to do that as I must have MS-input or the second line (highlight in green) in language perference doesn't even appear.
There are some additional points/details.
1 - I must set Chinese as "Language for non-... Read more

Hello, and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
I can't help you with your specific problem but you may want to look here. Hope it helps.
Under Chinese Input Methods it says to use the Windows key and space bar to easily switch between language inputs.

I have an A530 that will not connect when using the PC input, but the HDMI out port works fine.  So I attempted to connect to an external monitor and it worked.  So I know the actual HDD is working and that the computer is running properly. I then took an HDMI cable and ran it from the HDMI out port to the HDMI in port and the screen is now receiving the signal from the PC. So now I know both the PC and the A530 screen are working. The PC is out of warranty. Any idea why this is happening?  I currently have an HDMI cable connecting the in/out ports and the computer works, but I'd like to go back to it just using the pc and have an available HDMI port.

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.

I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly; both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.

I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows.

This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution.

Please help.

Hello and welcome aspen can you just make sure the driver for that monitor is ok.

Software & Driver Downloads HP w2207h 22 inch LCD Monitor | HP? Support

But mate I also think you may have answered it yourself in another way. Can you remember when this started happening? If so system restore back to before that date.

Then it is just a matter of downloading any updates if this is what is - one or two at a time until you find which one is the culprit. Make a not of that one and each time it comes up untick it to download / install.

you can try any of the tuner software and see if that works. things like Windows Media Center, XBMC, MediaPortal, GBPVR.

video editing software like Adobe Premiere. the best, easiest, and cheapest bets would be to try the tuner software first.

Hey all, I've been having this issue for a while in OneNote and Drawboard (because it happens in these 2 applications I believe it's a platform=laptop issue and not applications):1. I put annotations on top of PDF printouts in OneNote and in Drawboard PDF using my pen in tablet-like keyboard position2. Right after that touch input stops working for a while, as if it was not touch-enabled device. After 5-15 secs it comes back to life3. This issue does not reproduce when keyboard is in laptop position Has anyone had a similar issue on the same laptop/other Lenovo laptops? My system is a BestBuy-specific sister version of Yoga 14". Thanks,Danil

I have an HP Pavilion A6421.uk computer with an HP w2007v monitor. (The OS is Windows Vista).I've been getting the message "VGA Input - No Input Signal" and the monitor appears to be in sleep mode permanently. I've checked all the connections, cables etc and I have also connected the monitor to an old computer, where it worked fine. I'm guessing I need a new graphics card but don't know how to go about changing it. I have
opened up the box and cleaned it all out, but am not sure what to do now.

Could I take out the graphics card from the old computer and put it in the new one? The old computer is a Dell Dimension 5000 (Windows XP).
Or would it be an option to swap hard drives? (I urgently need to access my work but the old computer got a virus and doesn't work properly).I don't know the first thing about hardware really, so wondered what any of you would recommend I do:
1. Just buy a new graphics card and replace the old one - in which case, what would I buy?
2. Put the graphics card from the old machine into the new one. How do I do this and does anyone have any diagrams?
3. Swap the hard drives so that I use the old box with the new monitor. (this is probably a stupid idea, but who knows).

Please help!!

I've been fiddling with this on and off for months, but I don't  know if the problem is with the touchscreen, Windows 10, the drivers, my software, or some combination of those, so none of my troubleshooting has really gotten me anywhere. I bought the Flex 5 and the active pen intending to use the touch screen like a Cintiq monitor, in addition to the Huion graphics tablet I already own, but any pen input just reacts like touch input, making imposible to work comfortably in any painting/animation programs. I also can't figure out a setup that will let me use the active pen and my tablet at the same time; Huion and Wacom drivers don't seem to play nice with each other, so I can't have them both installed at once if I want either of them to be recognized in my software and have pressure sensitivity. I have turned off "tablet mode" in Settings, and in the Control Panel I've disabled "Flicks" and "press-and-hold to right-click". Regardless, using either the active pen or my tablet (which doesn't even interact with the touch screen) will make my computer react like I'm using my finger -- same visual feedback, press-and-hold still right-clicks, dragging with the pen will scroll around the webpage/canvas, etc. Depending on the software I'm using and which drivers are currently installed I can sometimes draw and get pressure sensitivity, but I'll still keep accidentally triggering touch commands with the pen that interrupt my work flow. Even if it's at the cost of touc... If you have an HDMI OUTPUT on your PC, on many you have to manually set the HDMI on the Video card as the default playback device, rather than the usual "speakers". Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound Panel and on the Playback you will probably have an icon for the HDMI, select that as the default playback device and you should get the PC audio in the HDMI signal.

Has any one modified a Power Suply to Take 12 volt DC Input?

I would very much like to hear from you, or any one you may of heard of that has done this.

I wanted to Put a desktop case etc. in my car and use it to listen to music...

Thanks to anyone who replies...

A:DC Input Power Supply (12 volt input)

A standard Computer PSU rectifies the incoming mains (120 or 240 volt) and the "chops" it in a switchmode type power conversion.

Therefore as it starts with a high DC voltage (120 or 240 V AC rectified to DC) there is no easy conversion to make it use 12 V instead. Without a complete rebuild and redesign of the PSU.

By far the cheapest and easiest way is to use an off-the-shelf 12 V inverter that converts 12V to 120 or 240 V AC, and then you dont need to bother rebuilding the power supply from scratch.

Has the advantage of easily sourced power supply units for the PC. You would likely get away with a small 200 Watt unit.

USB, even USB3 was never meant for transferring large amount of data needed for HD video, too much conversion has to be made. Laptops are limited by number and type of outputs but desktops can accommodate multiple video cards and even basic cards with Display port that use power of existing GPUs to provide video signal to more monitors or TVs.

That message is coming from your monitor itself I believe and not from the computer.

Its saying that there is no video signal, which idicates that the computer has probably not even booted up?

Is the computer actually booting (keyboard lights flash, HDD light flicking) after you power it on?

Hi all, yesterday i bought a pc from a friend i saw the pc working at his house on a 40" LCD HD TV, When i got the computer back home i hooked it up to my old 17" CRT monitor plugged into a DVI connector then the DVI connector plugged into a HD connector then into the HD slot at the back my computer, when i turned the computer on the monitor said, RGB no input signal, for some reason i thought that was because my old CRT monitor was just TOO old so i borrowed a 17" LCD monitor and tried it using that but i still get the same error. So now i've hooked it up to my HD TV using a HD cable and its working fine but i cant keep it on the TV forever, i'd like it to work on either of my monitors (neither are HD)

I've looked around on the internet searching the error i cant find many answers other than, check the cables.. which i have done and, the graphics card is broken but it isnt i've just been playing COD:MW2 on it, also read that it could be the resolution, it could be set way too high to be used on a small monitor. I've tried to change the resolution on my TV to the smallest then switch to my monitor but i still get the same problem. so does anyone have any other ideas i could try

I installed a Superspeed USB 3.0 7-port hub since I was about out of USB ports. I moved my mouse, Wacom tablet and a Logitech portable keyboard (keyboard #2 that I use when I am using the Wacom tablet for photo editing) to the 7-port hub and plugged the hub into power and a USB 3.0 port on the W7 PC. When I restart the PC, I come up to with:

ERROR: No USB KB input device. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility.

Useless advice since it can't find a KB!. In addition the the wireless KB, there is my regular KB, and all has worked fine until the Hub. Neither KB is active when this error appears.

If I turn the power off, the PC boots normally but as soon as I try a restart it comes back with the error. I am wondering if anyone has an idea od a way to get some of the additional ports I'm looking for. The mouse and Wacom seemed to work fine and it looks like the dual KBs may be the problem. Any USB help would be appreciated.

A:Error: No USB KB Input Device

Having worked with a number of computers my experience is that the USB keyboard and mouse must be plugged into USB ports on the computer, not on a Hub. Adding to the issue is the limited power available in the onboard USB ports, a Self-powered Hub is best for most other devices. Some computers of a few years ago used to need the mouse and keyboard plugged into ports nearest the power supply, gives the appearance that those ports get power before the others. I haven't had occasion to check if the mouse and keyboard work with USB 3.0 but can say that an HP printer plugged into a USB 3.0 port would quit printing after about an inch of date with an error of lost communication, plugging it into a USB 2.0 port gave no problem [nice to have light when working under a desk].

The BIOS is generating the error when booting and from a practical standpoint is not seeing the USB Hub soon enough.

Alright, so recently I have re-downloaded Audacity 1.2.6 to my computer. I run Windows XP. Now, it used to run and record things just fine, before my computer got updated (AKA it got all new innards).

Now, when I try and record something, it pops up with the error "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." I've tried everything possible to get it to work. I changed my input, I fiddled with the project sample rate, and it's just not working. The only time I can get it to record is when I change the input device for Audacity, but have a different one set under my Control Panel. And then, it doesn't pick up any sound (obviously).

So does anyone know how to fix this problem?

This is my first post on a forum like this so please be gentle
I have an acer aspire S3 with Windows 8. Its about 3 months old and I've used it with NO problems until last night when the Kernel Data Error occurred and my computer restarted itself. Since last night this error has occurred 3 times in 12 hours.
Whats changed in the last 3 months?
1. The McAfee security trial has ended in the last 2 weeks.
2. 5 days ago I relocated to Russia ( I bought the laptop in the UK -my home country)

Windows 8 came with the computer, the only things I have installed within the first 2 months were Microsoft Office, and a CD that came with my panasonic digital camera, which I am presuming is safe and OK.

The error message occurs when I am streaming either a youtube video, or this weeks episode of breaking bad etc.
I do have a large amount of photos on the computer which I will transfer to my portable hard drive today to see if freeing space could be the problem.

I am a kindergarten/1st grade teacher and have to use my computer for teaching and REALLY dont want this happening next week when I get to school.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The McAfee security trial has ended in the last 2 weeks.Click to expand...

And you did not subscribe? Uninstall it and run the McAfee Removal Tool. There is only a small chance it is causing your problems, but cleaning up now will save you from a networking problem later.

Make sure you have all Windows updates.

Deal with any issues in the Action Center.

In the Windows 8 Start screen type reliability, click Settings, and then select View Reliability History. In the resulting chart if you click a column you'll see additional detailed text below. Perhaps there will be some useful information here.

My Win 7 Acer Aspire 5534 laptop is suddenly acting weird, freezing up often and rebooting itself, and I've seen this screen upon reboot.

Recent history: The laptop got knocked off a table, onto hardwood floor.....impact was enough to knock keyboard loose.....space bar not working so well now. I managed to fit keyboard back in place a bit, but not totally, and removing this one does not seem so easy.(clips at top of keyboard).

Laptop seemingly worked fine, afterward, beyond keyboard. However, two days ago, while playing game, game crashed, and laptop acting oddly ever since, with these errors. That game will no long fully load. An Open Office doc I try to load freezes.

I read other posts and did see where jolt can cause connection issues? Could it be this, or hard drive failure?

Trying to upload minidumps, as well. Chk Disk ran last night, and took hours....hung up at 3% with many bad sectors.

More info: Never have been able to do a System Restore with this laptop. Never were any restore points.....tried in vain, a few years ago, to figure that out. If that matters.

Edit: I should add, Windows does load back up and Firefox works pretty well, so far. So, that helps!

Edit again: <removed>....messed up title of thread.....should have been Kernel Data Inpage

I have a Touchsmart 610 all-in-one desktop computer.  It will not recognize any input.  When booting up, the BIOS screen displays a message that says "Keyboard Error".  It goes to the Windows login screen, and I cannot do anything.  The wired USB keyboard doesn't work, no lights, nothing.  The touchscreen will not work either.  I've tried other USB ports. I've removed the wireless USB dongle. The keyboard works on other computers.  I cannot press any keys during the BIOS boot sequence.  I have a feeling that something is fried on the motherboard.  Any ideas? Thanks.

Windows XP Pro SP2
A8N-SLI Bios version 10.11 (i think)
AMD 3200+ ATI RADEON 1900XT (Sapphire)
2x1024 mb Corsair RAM

Just got computer back from the store after expanding RAM (1x 512 to 2x 1024) and replacing video cards (2xNvidea 6600GT (Aopen)with the ATI 1900XT). Computer worked normally at first bootup. I uninstalled some misschelaneous programs (PCmark05, 3Dmark05, some Aopen utilities) from the control panel.

As the guys at the store had installed Catalyst, and as i wasnt sure if they uninstalled Nvidea drivers, I uninstalled the Nvidea display drivers from the control panel(I left Nvidea chipset and ethernet controller untouched). The prompt to reboot came up and I clicked 'later'. Then just a minute or so afterwards, without warning, the monitor went into standby/ 'no imput' mode. tried the ALT-F4, Ctrl-ALT-DLT thing to get the comp to reboot but nothing was happening, so i did a cold restart.

The monitor remained frustratingly unresponsive. There were no CPU sounds (the sounds I ussually hear during the boot process), so i repeated, whilst pressing DEL to get into BIOS. Nothing seemed to happen, and i couldnt tell even if something had changed as I couldnt see. A few seconds after powering up, the computer (not the speakers) emits several beeps (3-4 I believe. heard them a few times and then not anymore, so i cant check). I opened the chassiss but to my very limited knowledge all seemed well.

On the following restart windows started, as was... Read more

I was doing some scripting in AutoHotKey, and discovered than in my script when I held down Capslock W and E, I got a weird beeping sound. I canceled out of my scripting to see what would happen normally if i pressed the three buttons. The result was the same strange repeated error beeping.

Other interesting notes about this problem.

1. This also happens if you hold down q and w at the same time. After some testing, it appears that these are the only two sets of keys

2. While capslock and E are held down, E will continue to be fired, but if you press W it will not fire, and E will temporarily stop firing. If you release E and press it again, it will continue to fire as normal.

So what the heck is this? It might sound weird, but I do actually do things that require me to press this button combination quite frequently. Any idea what the source of the problem is and how to solve it?

(Note: You do not have to be in any program for this error to occur. Just hold down capslock W and E and see for yourself!)

Good morning,

I was happily using my PC yesterday, surfing the net, when suddenly the computer restarted. When it came on it did not boot up properly and a "NO VIDEO INPUT" message flashed around the screen. I have checked there are no loose connections between the tower and monitor.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? It seems strange that is was working fine and then suddenly restarted and now does not work.

I would be grateful for any help.

A:Please Help - No Video Input error message

Well i would recommend checking inside your PC Tower if the graphic card is okay....because this is an hardware problem their are allot of different reasons like for example

1. Is it inbuilt graphic to the motherboard
2. Do you have two displays for your graphic card
3. Do you hear any beeps
4. takeout your graphic card and replace it in again and see.
any many other reasons...

I have Windows ME. I have symantec Internet security,f.y.i.....Symptoms- Computer is crashing when ever it wants to. It takes a nose dive to a empty screen or freezes on any page it wants to , doesn't seem to matter whether i am on the Internet or off and in another program. I have to reset or turn the power completely off to it to get it to work again. When I restart it it gives me the error. Run Time error 62, input past end of file. Sometimes it will run a scan when it comes back on and it always comes out OK. I have tried running a thorough scan and it tells me that it has restarted 10 times and can not finish because there is a program running in the background that keeps it from running completely one time. I do not have any other program running that I know of and can not figure out what it could be. I did run the thorough scan when i was off the Internet. I have shut down my screen saver and anything else that I could think of that it might be. This has been happening for at least a week now. I am sooooo frustrated. Does this sound like a virus?

When I try to use winrar to unrar a compressed file or something like that, it appears de blue screen and I hear the sound of the hard disk powering down I think (it's the same noise that the hard drive makes when I turn off my computer)

This problem started few days ago when I installed Jdownloader but I don't thing that the problem is related to it.

History: a year ago I got 2 hard drives in raid 1 mode and they failed but the disks are ok. I think that failed the motherboard's raid controller or disk controller. I've got the same mother with a diferent hard disk for a year ago.

Please help!

Hello everyone

I'm having a problem with my DVD burner... actually I've had it for almost two years now, but I only decided that enough is enough with this thing and I want to find a solution for it.

The long and short of it is this. Whenever I try to burn something on my DVD, it fails at the end and gives me an 'input/output' error and ejects the DVD. I have no idea why this happens. I should note that my DVD drive is fine otherwise, it can play DVDs and CDs without any problem. If anyone needs any additional information, I even saved the log-file that the my DVD burning software saved after it was finished.

Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks in advance.

A:Input/output error when burning DVDs

What software are you using? Try CDBurnerXP, it's free.
Also, try a different manufacturers DVD's.
And you could look for a firmware update for the drive.

Okay, having a brain cramp here. I'm using a loop to get through a text file and compare a value there with a recordset value.

For some reason, when I'm looping through a csv file, though, I am getting an error when I get to the EOF rather than exiting the loop.

Someone please take a look and explain why I'm not exiting the loop until one item beyond the EOF and throwing an error:

While EOF(1) = 0
Input #1, nQuantity, strDescription
Debug.Print strDescription
Close #1
There are twelve items in the list, once twelve is printed, it loops again and gets past the While EOF(1)=0 and throws the error when it arrives at the Input #1 because it IS the EOF.

The error is "Input past end of file"

I've also tried a "Do Until EOF(1) and get the same thing....

What the heck am I missing?

A:Solved: CSV Input File Loop Error

See, I told you it was a brain cramp!

For anyone who is curious, it turned out that I had a spare carriage return in my csv file!

Hi, I'm new here but in need of help! I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for me to post this in, but here we go.

I have a Dell XPS M140, running Windows XP Media Edition.

My computer has gone mad, basically. It just started giving me the dreaded blue screen, stating: Kernel_Stack_Input Error, and below it says Stop: 0x00000077 (0x000000e, 0x000000e, 0x0129000) Beginning dump of physical memory.

I have tried to run a virus scan, but non are able to complete without the blue screen. I have ran RegScrub, and it found 344 problems and fixed them all, but the BSOD persists. I have downloaded ZoneAlarm and set it to high security, this seems to be helping a bit (it does not happen as often now, only when certain things are ran... like virus scans). CleanUp! gives me a blue screen as well. I ran hijackthis, but I can't make heads or tails of it, not sure what I should be looking for. I was able to run ZoneAlarm's virus scan and they found "not-a-virus.fraudtool.win32.errordoctor.a", and deleted it, but that didn't seem to solve the problem, and their virus scan never completes either. My ZoneAlarm keeps telling me that ehsched.exe and wmiprvse.exe are malicious and it stops them from running, but they keep trying. I am concerned that I have a boot sector virus, or something else terribly wrong with my system. Not sure what my next step should be! Anyone have suggestions?

A non user input data filter but that there was an error during installation. Ever since then, my wireless ketboard and mouse functions erratically and sometimes not at all, and then will function fine at other times. I did a windows update and it tried to update the Non User HID but it had an error with that. I attempted to uninstall and reinstall my wireless drivers and tried different usb ports but it always gave me the same installation error. How can i solve this issue so that i can get my usb devices to work properly?

I am 2nd or later owner of my HP Compaq 8000 Elite computer.  I bought it used it from my computer repairman's store a couple of years ago with Windows 8 Professional installed.  It was upgraded by Microsoft for free to Windows 10 Professional. Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago.  My computer became unresponsive when I was editing a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat.  Thereafter the computer was operating very sluggish.  I got a message saying that my McAfee Security Suite (free from my ISP) was outdated and not working and that Windows Defender was being turned on.   This made no sense to me because it was not outdated and should be working fine.  Anyway, I unstalled McAfee and reinstall it and unstalled it a couple of more times.  It is uninstalled now.  When it is uninstalled my computer is no longer sluggish.  Anyway, in the process of trying to disgnose and fix the problem I tried to restore my computer to an earlier time and I tried to run a Start Up Repair program in the normal mode and the safe mode and neither were able to run.  I got a blue screen message that says: "Recovery There was a problem with a device connected to your PC An unexpected I/O error has occurred. Error code : 0xc00000e9 This problem can happen when a removeable storage device is removed while it's in use or is failing. Here is what happened. My dad gave me his laptop 4 years ago, I have been using it as my main pc since then. He did not give me any windows disk or install disks, but I do have its windows product key, its on the bottom of the laptop. I tried to download the ISO from windows but it said that product key was not supported so I just used the 7 upgrade disk I have for my old PC that I now use as a DVR / server. HD formated, reinstall complete, now it wants a valid product key. So I put the one from the laptop in, it says its not a valid product key.

I have a valid product keys for both machines, why won't this work? More importantly, how can I get it to work? Please help, I need this machine.

A:Reinstalled windows 7 formatted HD, input product key, error

Double-check the product key. Many times an "8" is mistaken for "B" or vice versa. Same way with letter "O" and number "0".

However if the DVR/Server OS is still active, that product key has been used for that copy of Windows and can't be used again and that copy of Windows is tied to that product key only. The Product Key on the PC is for a "OEM" version. If you can find an OEM version, exact same version as was originally installed you should be able to use that and the Product Key from the laptop sticker.

Hi there - I've been successfully connecting my tiny work laptop to my awesomely huge HP desktop using an HDMI cable for about a year now. Just connect the two, put the "HDMI IN" button to connect, and all is well... Except that every 4th or 5th time I do it, it fails and I get the "Game Mode No Video Signal" error instead. I try disconnecting & reconnecting, rebooting, waiting a while and trying later, etc. But, sometimes, it just won't connect no matter how I try to persuade it. Any ideas? Thank you,C.

Start Windows XP in safe mode.  Press the power button and then begin tapping the F8 key before Windows boots up.  Choose Safe Mode with command prompt. While in safe mode, start system restore by typing rstrui.exe and pressing enter.  Choose a restore point dated before before the initial problem began. This may resolve the issue. If it does, fantastic.  If not, then continue with the troubleshooting as described below. When  Windows restarts consider two troubleshooting scenarios to isolate the issue. What you need to know is whether the problem lies with the PC's video output of the LCD display. 1) connect a different display to the PC  and log into Windows to see if the windows desktop is normal.2 )install a low powered (inexpensive and less than 1GB VRAM) PCI Express  x16 video card. You need to see if that corrects the display issue with the original display connected. That will show you if the motherboard's video output is the issue. Don't forget to post your result here in your thread. Best regards, erico

So. This is a weird one. Today I started getting a strange error message pop up that stated "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." It seems to pop up at random. First couple times, I ignored it. When it persisted, I googled it, only to find most people with this error are having issues with links in outlook. I do not use outlook or IE, and wasn't doing anything browser related during any of the errors, so, lazily, I ignored it again. Finally, when one of these errors kicked me out of my Portal game, I decided I had to do something about it. I decided to just system restore before I went through any huge hassle before I tried figuring anything major out.

System restore went swimmingly, didn't seem to have any issues. But.. My keyboard and mouse, both wireless and usb, weren't working upon reboot. Okay. Different port. Nope. All of them are dead. All. Even the motherboard ones in the back. NO usb device I plug in works, or even registers. To make it weirder, I see that my wireless isn't connecting (the internet is fine) and my sound is muted. Sound was on when I started system restore. It's like all input into my machine is no longer accepted. I know the CD drive works, because inserting a CD even brought up the autoplay window, even though I can't actually input anything.

I haven't messed with it too much, as I'm very tired and annoyed, but if anyone has some clues, please tun... Read more

See if you can undo system restore by either:
- going into Safe Mode (rapidly tap the F8 key just before the Windows splash screen shows up.
- going into Startup Repair and using System Restore from there.

Also, try these free, bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
