I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Fan-Speed-in-Y900-gaming-Desktop-Box-Becomes-loud-and-N...Well, to say this posting is frustrating is an understatement...For the nopw second time in less than 4 months, the brand new Lenovo Y900 Gaming Desktop has started to run high fan RPm and switch off at different times especially when just having general computer usage surfing the NET. The above link is to the first thread I started aboutt his problem a few motnhs ago. When it was happening the first time, I could be playing a game or just general PC use and the montior would switch off and the computer shutdown and then the fans insdie the box run at an extremely high RPM. This happened over a period of weeks sometimes several times a day. I finally bit the bullet and took it back to the store who shipped it off the Lenovo repair centre in Sydney. Despite conslusive video footage time and date stamped, lenovo repair centre reckon they couldn't find much wrong (LOL) however did say that the reasonfor the constant shutdowns would be a heatsink related issue. I was advised by Lenovo Repairs that what they did in the end was completely replace, re-seat and re-position a brand new heatsink with all new thermal paste and sent the machine back. The PC ran smoothly no isues for 6 weeks then all of a sudden 3 days ago then same thing as the first time started happenign all over again. Here I am paying $4K for a brand new gaming PC and it has now broken down twice inside 4 months. I ha... Read more

Hi Everyone, I did start another thread about this but thought I would be a bit more specific this time around so I do apologise for my previous effort but this is so frustrating coming from someone who is a noob at this sort of stuff.I recently at the direction of Lenovo support, had to update my BIOS/Firmware on a less than 2 months old machine as there was an issue coming from inside my box where the fan would just randomly start runnng fast and loud when I was in the middle of a game (Watch Dogs 2, WOW or Prepar3d).I was initially directed to go to Nvidia as I have a GE Force 1080 card as there were some issues with those and fans running fast. I downloaded latest drivers and all went well for several days but then the noise was back but it sounded different. When I messaged Lenovo that`s when they directed me to downlaod latest BIOS/Firmware update as this may solve my issue. I did this BIOS/Firmware update, system update, you name it I updated what needed to be updated.I did this and from between the time I downloaded and updated what needed to be updated and today, I have not been into the Lenovo Nerve Centre. I go in there today and the first thing that I got come up in a big dialogue box in the midle of the nerve centre was that this PC is not compatible with overclocking and to please contact the supplier etc... etc...When I clicked past this option I then noticed that the "Turbo Boost" section had disappered where you can not only go in and overclock the syste... Hello everyone, Only my 2nd post at the forums I think and after my recent one I ended up going with the Y900 Gaming Desktop and bought a 30 inch UHD 4K Ultra monitor to go with it and it flies and I love what Lenopvo has done with the design and features of this machine, it is awesome...:-) and with the GEForce 1080 card in it, the graphics are like nothing I have ever seen, I am just digging it, super job Lenovo....:-)Anyways, I have only had the machine for several weeks now, runs well except the last 2 weeks every so often after a while of computer usage for a few hours when I am playing a game say Watch Dogs 2 or WOW or general PC use, the fan iside the box will start churning over really fast and become loud and my PC will sometimes become unresponsive but not all of the time, sometimes I can kleep playing away or using the PC in general and it runs as expected. Surely this shouldnt be a problem wityh a PC that is not even 2 months old.I have searched google and Lenovo forums and read a few tips on a possible fix with the best one seeming to be:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-Y-and-ErazerX/Y900-DIY-model-CPU-a-bit-loud-Any-sugges...accesing the BIOS and changing the system fan setting from smart auto to manual and seting the minimum PWM to 10%. Can anyone confirm for me please if this is an acceptable fix or something that should/shouldnt be done or does anyone have any other fix for this issue so that I can get the fan to stop running really fast and... I own my P52s since 6 month and by now already 2 SSDs broke with the same symptoms: First the SSD randomly turns off and only turns on after a reboot again and after a week or so the SSD cannot be recognized by UEFI anymore and the Laptop becomes unbootable. When Lenovo sent me the first replacement SSD things were working flawlessly for ca 2 months until it broke as well. I described the problem to Lenovo in detail and they were very quick to send a second replacement SSD, which I appreciate of course. However, they did not react to my concerns that 2 SSDs breaking in such a short time period my indicate that some other laptop component might be flawed. Did anybody experience any similiar issues? Does someone have any idea to what extent other laptop components could cause such a behaviour? E.g. too high voltage in the power supply? Other components heating up too much (though I did let the P52s do too much heavy work and the SSD seems to be places rather far away from GPU and CPU)? ... ? For completeness: The SSD is a Samsung PM-981 with 1GB.

A few weeks ago, my L380 yoga just underwent a motherboard replacement, and that took such a long time. Now, ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS SURFACED. THE TRACKPOINT ON THE LAPTOP IS BROKEN. The TrackPoint is my main input device for pointing, and without it, I struggle to use my computer effectively. I have tried checking drivers and reinstalling, but nothing worked. An external USB mouse works as well as the touchpad, but I RARELY USE THOSE AS THEY ARE INCONVENIENT.

Hi,

Just the other day I got the Lenovo Ideacentry Y900 with the following specs:
Intel i5 3.5GHz Skylake, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX1070, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD

On day one after receiving it I installed CS:GO, GTA V and FallOut 4.

CS:GO ran perfectly, GTA V did as well, however Fallout 4 would crash; After starting a new game and finishing the loading screen it simply quit to desktop with no warning or errormessage. I updated the GPU drivers and updated directX to the newest version. It didn't help.

The day after I tried to run GTA V again, but this time it crashed after the loading screen, just like Fallout 4. It gave me an error saying "ERR GFX D3D INIT" and told me to relaunch or reinstall the game.

I've read on many forums that these issues most likely are due to GPU drivers, but I've tried clean installs of both the newest Nvidia drivers and older ones, and NOTHING works. I made sure DirectX is up to date as well.

Do you think there's a risk I can have received a machine with a defect GPU?

I don't own your computer, but I've read that there should be some Lenovo preinstalled software. If not, you can disconnect the LEDs from the motherboard. I would suggest waiting for another forum member who may know, or contacting Lenovo support. Visit http://lenovo.com

I have a Microsoft 10 Lenovo PC, but within the first 2-3 months after I bought it, it has constantly crashed. I know it is not overheating when I play intensive games such as The Division where my GPU is at its normal 80c, nor virus since I have done scans. It is also not a hardware malfunction. I have wiped my PC 1-2 times and it still crashes. I eventually sent the PC to the Lenovo repair center in Kentucky, but when they sent it back they said it was "Fixed" and that what they did was update the drivers. After the first crash/freeze, the next few crashes just happen within 1-2 minutes of startup.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.  I switched from Apple to HP in January 2017, thinking it was a smart move as the laptop was half the price. 700 and 4 months later, the bottom casing has cracked and apparently my warrenty won't cover it.  The crack came as no fault of my own. I have not dropped it or mishandled it. It was a lot of money for me to spend and so I treated the product with the upmost care. Yet HP would like to charge me 137 to replace the casing. 137 for cheap, poor material that cracked within 4 months?  Upon buying this product I was told it was indestructible and wouldn't break easily. 4 MONTHS LATER???  This laptop is not worth it and HP are a terrible company.

To whom it may concern, I am writing this message to inform of you of my displeasure with one of your products. I purchased a HP Envy M6 in August of 2015 at around $700. Last night I went to open my laptop and I heard a loud snap. The noise that was heard was my hinge breaking as well as it snapping the plastic from the bottom base cover. I have now had three HP laptops and all three broke the same way. After doing some research online I found out that this is a common thing for HP laptops, specifically the Envy models. I even noticed that there was a class action lawsuit against HP for their hinges specifically. I went around to repair shops to get a quote on how much it would to be fix and was quoted from $150-$200.I was shocked at the amount quoted as I already had put a large amount of money into the purchase of the product and the product being relatively new. It is unfair to your consumers to have high priced top of the line products break on them on a regular basis. I am inquiring with your company to see if there is anything you can do to help rectify the situation. If nothing can be done I will stay away from all HP products permanently. Please feel to reply with any questions or comments you have about this incident. Thank you in advance for the timely response.

A:Broken hinge after only 18 months of ownership

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

I have a 6 month old Inspiron 5558 that won't close properly due to a bad hinge on the right side. Spent an hour with support, only to tell me that this is not covered under warranty, even though there is still another 6 months left under Mfg warranty. The hinge is cracked, which in turn has cracked the cover of the LCD. In order to close the laptop, we have to squeeze the hinge with the screen, and slowly close. From reading through posts, it appears that Dell has ongoing issues with hinges. I totally understand and would expect a two year old device not to be covered, but at 6 months? And a broken hinge is not covered? Anyone have any thoughts?

In December, my laptop starting resetting itself (still in warranty). Its now May, and Lenovo are still refusing to give me a refund or a replacement. I feel I've been very understanding and patient at all the slow failed attempts to deal with the problem, but I'm completely fed up now. I'm a student, so having a reliable laptop is obviously really helpful, but I've spent many weeks of this year without a laptop whilst Lenovo have tried to repair it, and the rest of the time I've had a laptop that resets without warning which means I sometimes lose work even though I save my work regularly and back it up.  In January, it was sent to be repaired, they replaced the hard drive, but the problem still kept happening when it came back in February. In February, it was sent to be repaired again. They couldn't replicate the problem so claimed it was working fine (even though I had sent evidence that it wasn't fine, each reset left reports in the reliability monitor about bug report 124 and that it was a hardware error). So they sent it back unchanged after several weeks. Lenovo told me if the problem was still happening that they would refund or replace it.However, when I reported it still did happen, they said actually it was Lenovo's policy that there must be three failed repairs before they would do that.So in March I sent it off again to be repaired, this time they acknowledged again there was a fault, but they just replaced the hard drive. Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Have you checked to see if the card is loose?  If it isn't then a graphics card shouldn't be making this kind of noise which means it needs to be replaced.  I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for warranty assistance.  I would see if Lenovo can send you a replacement card instead of sending the whole system in.  You can then send back the noisy one to Lenovo.

An alternative is check with your local Best Buy store to see if they are an authorized service center. You could then walk it in for the replacement.

Here is a link to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.  It will explain how to replace the graphics card if needed.....

My HP SPECTRE X360 - 15-AP012DX is less then 3 months old and the screen or "Digitizer" mysteriously cracked just like many others on the board. I have no answers for how this happened. As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

* If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

* Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

* Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

* If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

* I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps
