Browser Has Long Pauses or Page Does Not Load

Q: Browser Has Long Pauses or Page Does Not Load

I am using xp prof. and IE 6. When I open my home page, Yahoo, sometimes I just get a blank page. IF it loads, there is about a 2 minute wait. When that happens, if I go to another page, it will or will not load. If not, it shows the "cannot find page" site. My dsl router connections shows on, but not many or no packets. If I reboot or renew the connection, it might help for once or twice but then this happens again.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I've been suffering with this issue for ages but I just can't find any one else on the web that's got the exact same issue and ideas on how to fix it.

Also Google trying to be cleverer than it is doesn't help, it's interpreting "AVG" as "average" and "load time" as "install time" which are two very different things. It still insists on doing this when I use square brackets for exact match. Any way...

CDBurnerXP takes about a minute to load but it should be instant for such a small programme and such powerful hardware - headline specs are Asus M4A79T Deluxe with a Phenom II 965 - quad core 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM and Intel SSD as boot drive. I can give the full hardware specs if required but I think those are the pertinent ones. VLC also used to take about a minute to load, again should be instant. But after an update to VLC that problem went away. Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour (IMO probably tying with Red Alert 2 for best ever C&C game) will load fine but then when I start a game it will run fine for about 5 seconds then pause for about 1 second then fine again for 5 seconds and so on, makes it completely unplayable.

After some investigation a few months ago I have discovered that completely removing AVG Internet Security 2011 (disabling it makes no difference) makes the problem go away. Re-install it and the problem returns immediately.

It was a long time ago so I can't be sure but I... Read more

I have a Windows 8.1 Enterprise computer on which I am encountering long delays while using a browser.   What will happen is that the screen will freeze, sometimes for as long as 15 seconds.   Keyboard and screen updates just stop.   Then
everything resumes until the next delay.   Delays are closely spaced, and the computer becomes unusable.
The Task Manager shows no real resources being consumed.  I have 16 processor cores and they might be 5% occupied.  I have 32 GB of memory and I might be using 8 to 10 GB.  There is no significant network traffic.
How can I go about identifying the application or device driver that is freezing out the keyboard and screen?

Usually it took around 1-2 seconds. I've tried updating windows and anti virus scan but the problem still persist.

Anyone have any idea what went wrong?
Thanks!

A:Takes a long time to load at welcome page

It use to take 1-2 SECOND?????

I don't think so unless your system was hibernated or in whatever sleep mode is.

Could be it is not going into sleep or hibernate (whatever those 2 things are) anymore and really shutting down. So when you go to start it up it has to do the motherboard POST (Power On Self Test) and then load Windows.
Which will take much longer then coming out of hibernate or sleep.

Hello,

Here is the problem. We have everything locked down on our network, with approved web sites on the whitelist. At one of our locations, a particular pc takes 5-10 minutes to load onlyone particular web page. All other approved websites/pages load fine. The other pc's near his load it almost immediately. It's actually a link he clicks, which opens this page in another window. The only other problem I noticed was a Java error. The guy said he updated java a couple weeks ago and ever since then, he gets this error msg when he logs on saying something like "server not found". All pc's are running windows xp professional and IE6.

Any help/suggestions are much appreciated!

A:Solved: One page take long time to load...tough one

clear cache/cookies/history and try again. Also try manually loading the page, instead of from the bookmark.

If this fails, try uninstalling the Java the user installed, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, reprimand the user. ;-)

Alright, about the 3 weeks I've been experiencing freezing when I'm browsing the internet. It has always happened when I'm clicking a link or downloading something. I haven't got a clue in the world why this would be happening. I thought at first it could be my network drivers, but that wasn't the case. A friend suggested I try to use my network card instead of the integrated one I'm using at the moment. I didn't see why that would make it freeze therefore I haven't tried that yet. Anyone have any idea whats going on? Its extremely annoying! I can't wait it out either... my PC completely freezes.. I've waited close to 2 hours just to see if it would unfreeze. My only option is to restart every time it happens which is about maybe once a day I'd say.

Another problem I have... and have had since I set-up my xp pro and installed all of my games/anti-virus and etc is when I start-up my computer it lags HORRIBLY when I log into my desktop! You'll see the "Loading user w/e" crap for literally 2 minutes, then you hear the log on audio sound from xp... followed by my background with no icons or start bar... then about 3 minutes later my icons and start bar appear and my start-up applications load... Which is only my sound card software, stop-zilla, and windows live onecare. Of course, all the services windows needs to operate loads as well.

These are two problems I'm dealing with, unfortunately. If I can ge... Read more

I have Windows 8 and no matter what browser I use, it takes a long time to load any page on a website. It had worked great until about a month ago. We have two other computers in the house (one with XP and one with 7) they seem not to have issues, so I don't think it is a connection issue. The XP is a laptop, the 7 is a desktop. I was wondering if others have had this issue and how did it get solved.

My pages take a long time to load, but that is because Avast antivirus scans them before allowing them to load.

But when I play the CD there are long pauses (as much as two minutes). The CD just stops playing anywhere even in the middle of a song. After a long pause it starts playing again. What am I doing wrong when I burn it that could cause these long pauses especially when it says that it was burned successfully?

Greetings All,

Just put together a new system and having an issue.

First the system:

Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe w/AMD 64 Athlon X2 4800+ (Bios 1102)
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066
evga's "e-GeForce 9600 GT SuperClocked Ed.
1 SATA HD
1 IDE D.L. DVD Burner
450W AcePower PSU
Windows XP Home 32Bit

After putting her all together, I fired it up with a custom made WinXP CD in which I slipstreamed SP2 into so as to properly recognize the large hard drive and it's partitions.

As always, I keep the OS on the first partition and all my other files, media, program files on other partitions so I instructed it to install WinXP on the the first partition (C) and told it to do a 'quick' NTFS format.

Install went fine, loaded the mobo CD first for the drivers, then the video card CD and afterwards did windows updates.

Problem is, right from the get go, on reboot/startup, the post is fine, but as soon as it reaches the winXP logo/loading screen, there is a long, idle pause (ie no IDE/HD activity) as if it is searching for something, before it finally kicks in with the HD and starts loading XP. This phenomenon also occurs at shutdown as well at the "shutdown/logoff" screen.

Here is what I've tried:

*Updated various drivers
*Played with certain settings in Bios
*unchecked nearly all 'startup' strings in msconfig
*unplugged nearly ALL devices (DVD burner, all USB components, etc)
*updated to Service Pack 3
*ran a couple of registry cleane... Read more

I usually only see that sort of hangup when the partitions go all screwy. It could very well just be the partitions and if that is the case, reinstalling would certainly fix that issue.

Have now just bought an NEC DVDR drive with new Nero software and it does the same. Have also tried downloading other burning s.ware - but none seem to work. Is it a conflict with XP ? i own a website, i made no changes to my browser, and yet suddenly, my browser (all versions of IE since i tried uninstalling 6.1) refuse to load any pages on my domain. everyone of them gets hung up at 'web site found - waiting for reply'.
i've been through the tools in my browser, and reset everything to absolute lowest settings. there are no restricted sites and no restricted settings (and never were). i uninstalled ver 6.1 and went to an older version, and nothing i try gets the pages loaded. not a single page on my home domain will load, although all other websites load as normal.
i installed netscape just to check, and it loads just fine on it, but won't load with IE.
i've ran norton corporate, browser hijacker, and lavasoft ad-aware 6 and they all say i'm clean.

what on earth is stopping my IE browser from loading the pages on my home domain? i'm at the end of my rope and any help greatly appreciated! i can't do any of the administration on my site because i can't load a single page.

Hello everybody.

I can't load any microsoft account login page in any browser on my laptop (running windows 8.1). Whether it is outlook, one drive, microsoft support forums, etc. Each time I try to load the login page I get the following errors:

In firefox: The connection was reset
In IE: This page cannot be displayed
In chrome: This webpage is not available

It was working up until yesterday, then all of sudden in the middle of the afternoon I couldn't access any microsoft login page.

As far as I can tell, these are the only pages that can't load. MSN works fine, any microsoft site works fine (outside of the login part of course). All other sites I have tried work just fine.

However, I can access my email in the Mail app that comes standard in windows 8.1 as well as on my android phone. Furthermore, I don't think that it is an ISP problem as I can easily access those pages on an old desktop computer I have and on my phone. It seems to be an issue with my laptop specifically.

I have tried restarting the computer (multiple times) and clearing the cache and cookies (multiple times).

If I can't fix this, I'm probably going to reinstall windows, but I really would like to save myself all the trouble that comes with that, especially since it's just one page that I can't get to load.

I really need help figuring this out. Any help and input would be greatly appreciated.

Recently I discovered that windows update on my computer doesn't work anymore. When I tried to access Windows Update page , all I got is: "This webpage is not available." in google chrome. In Internet Explorer when I try the windows update link, the browser keeps closing and restarting with no success. If trying to google about this problem concerning windows update issues I also get the browser closing and restarting. Also no succes in Mozzila Firefox nor in Apple Safari. I tried all browsers with no success: windows update page is not working ( Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage), neither is it possible to update form Windows, I just can't get updates to work no matter I do.

When I tried to run Combofix to see the results, the computer freezes and I need to shutdown and restart.
I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and I didn't get any objects infected.
What advice can you give me?
Thanks in advance.

PS: also on this page in this post when I tried to paste the windows update adress(link) I could not post, I get "This webpage is not available." in chrome.
In Safari: Safari can’t open the page “http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?”. The error is: “unknown error” (kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10052)
And it is only because I pasted the adress of windows update site I could not post it no matter what browser I use.

Hi- hope someone can give me a fix for this-I have to reload then refresh every page I go to-then everything runs perfectly. I've tried msconfig/flushdns and also NETSH  INT  IP  RESET
NETSH  WINHTTP  RESET  PROXY(this might be or windows 8)
        IPCONFIG  /FLUSHDNS
pressing enter after each command, then restarting > this does not  work. Is there a fix? or am I being hijacked?
thank you for any help

A:have to refresh browser(s) multiple times to fully load a page

Download and run wipe  and system ninja,

https://privacyroot.com/software/www/en/wipe.php
https://singularlabs.com/software/system-ninja/

Then.....

Go ahead and install ccleaner Now that you have the program installed go ahead and run the cleaner function.
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Now that you have cleaned out some temp files, lets go ahead and disable all of the items starting up with your machine except your antivirus. To do this you will need to click on tools then start up select each item then disable.
Now that you have disabled those un-needed start ups lets go into the settings, we will have Ccleaner run when your machine boots, so that you will never have to worry about cleaning temp files again. To do this:
Hit options.
Settings.
Place a tick to run Ccleaner when the computer starts.

Now go to the advanced tab, and select close program after cleaning, now run the cleaner again this will close Ccleaner.

Reboot your machine and then follow the  instructions below.

Step 1: eScanAV.

Disable your antivirus prior to this scan.

Does this indicate bad hard drive or processor cache? Do I need to change vcache?

Hi there. I have been having an issue lately -- every two minutes or so, Mozilla Firefox will seemingly "pause" for a few seconds. It is noticeable when I'm scrolling and when I'm typing. For example, I will be typing, then the computer will pause while I'm typing, and whatever I typed while it was paused appears after it unpauses. No other programs or devices seem to be affected; my music continues to play and I am still able to move my mouse cursor. It seems this only happens on Firefox. I have tried changing the Session Store interval to 0, but it didn't work. I have the latest version of Firefox (3.0.10), and have had it for a while, but this whole pausing thing just started a couple of days ago.I have noticed one thing that stops the pausing on Firefox. I have ZoneAlarm firewall installed, and I tried typing and scrolling in Firefox while I had ZoneAlarm's internet lock engaged. This fixed the problem, and now I'm worried that this is some kind of browser hijacking. I have run Spybot S&D and Anti-Vir (with internet lock engaged), but have found no viruses, keyloggers, or any other abnormalities of any kind. So I ran HijackThis (again, with internet lock engaged) and I have posted the resulting log below. Please let me know if there is anything I should be worried about (or even anything that just doesn't need to be running). Im having this issue when I go to my Music folder/library in windows there is either no album art (in this case no icons in place of the album art either to suggest if its an mp3 or what not), or it takes a really long time for the album art to load on every peace of music. I have also tried to search on google about this problem. No luck probably because I'm rubbish at searching

ill really appreciate it if someone can help me out.

Here is a screen shot about what I'm on about ---->

I am using free avast for my av program. I have using avast for many years and have been happy with it. Just recently I just upgraded to 2014 and it takes a long time between pages to go from page to page (10- 40 sec) that is too long and I am getting older with not to much time to live, and I do not want to waste it waiting for a page change. If I disable avast and run without av the pages zip by rather rapidly. So my problem is with avast enabled..has anybody had the same problem? Should I switch to an other free av prog???
Kas

A:Avast 2014 takes a long time from page to page

First thing I would try is to disable the Avast Browser add-ons if you are using them.

If that doesn't help, some other things you can try:
Do a Repair Avast.
Set up exclusions for your browser(s) in Avast.
If you're using a 3rd party Firewall, check the settings.
Do an uninstall using the Avast clean utility and re-install Avast.
Post your issue/question on the Avast forum, maybe someone there has seen this and knows an answer.

I am trying to solve this problem on a friend's laptop. It is a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64bit, using Chrome. Bought within the last year. I can play videos from sites like youtube, hulu, and sports sites, but when I try to play a video from putlocker, gorillavid, or other streaming sites typically used for videos like anime or tv shows the video either doesn't load (just spins) or takes a REALLY long time to load, almost like it is downloading the full video before it plays.

I borrowed another laptop from the library which also has Windows 7 and Chrome and all the videos play fine on it using the same internet connection, so it is definitely something local to this machine.

I have searched the net for three days trying to find a solution, but to no avail. I have the latest versions of flash, java, etc. I have tried older versions of flash. I've disabled the antivirus and firewall. Disabled the built-in flash plugin for chrome. I really am not sure what else to do. If anyone has any suggestions I would readily welcome them. I have tried other browsers as well and had similar issues.

I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please start a new topic. If you have any questions, please PM me or another moderator. Thanks for your cooperation.

Greetings gurus. Internet trouble. As the title says, my mail will not load in any browser. Page load is very slow and most things time out at least once. AT&T ran line tests on DSL and everything was clean. Not sure how this could be. Speedtest was run many times and no probs. I even did some gaming which strains everything with no problems. I'm open to the possibility of a virus. Ran Avira and MBAM but haven't gone further. Strangely the wife's Facebook games are a no-go. Also, wireless devices work fine. Heeeeelp!

Dear all,
Here are my PC specs -

1. Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit
2. 8GB Ram
3. 2 Sata Hard Disks of 80 GB and 320 GB (both of which are relatively empty)
4. Radeon HD Graphics Card
5. Antivirus - Microsoft Security Essentials
6. Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-A75M-UD2H
7. CPU - AMD A8-3850 (2.9 GHZ)

Off late, my PC takes way too long to start any application. At times, even if I click on a folder, it doesn't open and finally the PC gives me the 'Wait or Close' option.

Even while switching off the PC, it takes a long time.

I clean my PC regularly and run scans from time to time. The PC doesn't show any virus or malware as of now.

Any suggestions what I can do? I assembled it not more than 2 years ago and it's started behaving like this off late.

Also, at times my 320 GB hard disk doesn't show up under my computer. I have to open my cabinet and tighten the SATA and Power cable and then it shows up again.

Any help will be appreciated.

Tell us the details of how you "clean my PC". What do you do exactly and how often?

Have you checked running processes or services through Task Manager when it seems to be slow?

The drive issue may be the cause. Have you tried another cable or connecting the hard drive to another port?

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

Hi there.
I recently had a trojan dnschanger on my laptop. I tried using malwarebytes program to remove it several times and then gave up and sent it in to get repaired at a shop in town. They told me there was no infection and sent it back to me. I reran the test and sure enough it was gone. but...

What had originally made me try using malwarebytes to scan ( avg, spybot s&d, and adaware did not find anything) was that my browser was acting strange. When I do a Google search and click on one of the results, it will load a blank page saying 'done' in the bottom corner, then after 5 seconds or so it will then load the page i wanted.

For instance, I click on "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" search result and it puts this:

"hxxp://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.kioskea.net%2Fforum%2Faffich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank&rct=j&q=browser+loads+blank+page+then+&ei=W6JzS6q_G8PgnAec2vmyCQ&usg=AFQjCNHiczGbtPYRraVBQ_7hGcgLE2f6LQ&as_acct=9dm612l7ldg&cr=s6ar6l7"

into the top bar and sits on the blank,'done' page for 5 or 10 secs then goes to the "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" page after.

It is driving me crazy. This is doing it in firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.7600.16385 - (i rarely use ie)
