Everytime i start my PC i keep getting the message sonic activation tool for CD Rom , how do i fix this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having this same problem. I thought I had solved it about a year ago, but now it's back!! I cannot remove the Roxio stuff on my add/remove programs screen because it keeps saying "another installation is in progress". That's the annoying sonic activation module unending cycle, that runs as soon as I boot up. So, I am stuck.

I also tried to delete from C:/program files/install shield/isdm.exe, as advised somewhere, but no such file exists on my computer under C:/program files.

Please help!

A:sonic activation

Open Task Manager and click "Processes" tab.
If you can see the Sonic Activation item, highlight it & click "End process".
Now try to uninstall Roxio.

If that doesn't work, download Ccleaner from here & install: Download CCleaner 3.07.1457 - FileHippo.com

Open Ccleaner, click "Tools" then "Startup"
Highlight the Sonic Activation item then click "Disable"
Now Restart Windows.
The Sonic Activation will not start so you should be able to uninstall Roxio.

I have been struggling with this for weeks. I have researched it extensively and find MANY others having the same problem, dating back several years, but every "solution" has led to a dead-end.

Problem: At the completion of boot-up or shortly thereafter, my Windows XP computer pops up a window that warns that some process cannot be completed because it can't find a required file. The window title is "Sonic Activation Module". There are two buttons, one is "Cancel" and one is something else, but it doesn't matter, because no matter which one is selected, a second window pops up that cannot be dismissed. The only solution is to use Task Manager to kill the Sonic Activation Module application.

Solutions tried: After hours of research, I've tried to remove any Sonic programs, but none were listed in my Remove Software list. I did find a folder C:\Program Files\Sonic\Shared Files\ and removed it. I've run a deep scan with Symantec. Nothing found. I took a deep breath and executed regedit, searched for anything with "sonic" in a key, found a couple and deleted them. I've searched the files on my hard drive for anything with either "sonic" or a couple of files like "isuspm.exe" or similar that were referenced in one of the forum threads. I found none of these. I found lots of recommendations to reinstall "install shield", which reportedly uses Sonic software to update it, but those pages... Read more

Hello,

This is listed as Solved and Closed here, but the solution is not working for me. I download and install the Software Manager as instructed here, but there is no shortcut created that I can launch.

I found the folder and tried the various executables, but none of them worked.

I also tried the Dell Support Article, which sent me to this Microsoft KB article. This had me download and install a Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. However, I can't run that utility because it complains that StartMsi.vbs is missing.

The error dialog is as follows:Title bar: Windows Script Host
Text:
Script: C:\DOCUME~1\ANDREW~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs
Line: 2
Char: 1

First question: Does anyone have difficulty obtaining sound on the system?http://members.driverguide.com/driver/deta...driverid=143923From what I see, it's an S3 (onboard) audio driver. If it is not installed on the system and no other sound controller/card is used, someone will probably be experiencing difficulty with system audio. The way to check: Start/Run...type devmgmt.msc...click OK. Under Sound, Game, Video Controllers there will be a yellow or red marking if the device is installed but the drivers are not installed.Installing the drivers should take care of it.Update Those Drivers - http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug00/310800.htmCan you tell us the make/model (manufacturer/model number) of the system, if it not custom-made? If custom made, then tell us the motherboard manufacturer and model number, please.Louis

Every time i start up my computer some program named Sonic Activation Module pops up. It's extremely annoying and the only way to get rid of it is control alt delete. I've tried uninstalling every program on my computer with the name Sonic on it, but it continues to pop up every time i get on the computer.

Also my computer won't read certain game disks. It reads some fine while not even showing that others are in tray. I think it's related to the Sonic problem because i've checked the properties of the disk drive and the Sonic thing pops up when i check it.

Any suggestions?

Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc. Are there any devices with yellow marks? If so, these devices need to have drivers installed. If you have a name brand computer (HP, Dell etc) you can go to the manufacturers Support/Download Drivers site and type in your service tag # or your make and model # and download the driver for your specific machine. If you have a custom build, you can look in the case at the motherboard and get the model # or download Speccy. Then go to the manufacturers Support/Download Drivers site type in the model # of the mobo and download the specific driver for that board.
As for .NetFrameworks, download the DotNetFix_CleanUp_Tool
Remove all versions of .NetFramework and restart. Now go to Windows Update and download them all again doing 4.0 last.

I want to know how I can remove sonic activation module. It tries to install something every time I boot my computer

A:Sonic Activation Module

Welcome to TSF....

Are you using anything from Sonic on your computer? If so then for removing it I would suggest contacting Sonic thru their web site and check the FAQ's on how to remove this part of the program properly. Do not just try to delete it you may cause more problems than it is worth. If you are not using any Sonic programs then you might want to go to add/remove programs and remove the Sonic thru there. The support area on Sonic may have free email tech support and if so they would be best able to instruct you in the proper way to remove thier software.

OK, I am new to this website. I have some computer knowledge but not extensive. I have researched and tried numerous "fixes" to get rid of the Sonic Activation Module but I still have it! It showed up after I tried to get the latest revision for my Blackberry Desktop Manager.

I went to msconfig-startup and unchecked the suggested box, restarted my computer and now I get this message and the popups.
"You have used the system config utility to make changes to the way Windows starts.....Choose normal setup mode on General tab...." Makes no difference I still get the popups.

Under
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information
I have 4 folders with numbers withing brackets { } and files within each folder...Is it OK to delete all of these folders?
(I cannot seem to copy or print screen to include in this message)

Is this a virus or? I run Malware, Spybot, Adaware and ccleaner every Sunday and do a defrag about every 4 weeks.

Help!! It is so annoying...

A:Sonic Activation Module - Again

Hi jshreves..welcome to TSF.

It's generally not a good idea to delete those folders as they may be needed to change or uninstall the programs which created the folders when they were installed.

As for the Sonic Activation Module...is it a windows installer type box that appears?

I keep getting a pop up for Sonic Activation Module..... it says that I have to insert a disc to remove it can someone please help me out.

A:Sonic Activation Module

Hi MrsHolmes1 and welcome to TSF

Does the popup stay on your screen (in your face, so to say) or can you click it off?

A system restore to an earlier time might get you past the problem.
Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>SystemTools and pick System Restore. On the screen, select 'restore my computer to a earlier date' or something like that. A screen with a calander will come up. The bold dates are where the restore points are. Pick one just earlier than today and tell it to restore. Note that you can reverse this process by going back to system restore and tell it to undo the last restore if you need to.

Hope this helps

When ever I turn on my computer I'm prompted to Install "Sonic Activation Module" but it says that I need to insert the disc to install it. I have no such disc. I'm not sure what sonic is, but if it really is just a burning program, I really don't need it. But having to speed-click cancel as I'm prompted in a loop usually 3 circles long to insert the disc to install Sonic Activation Module is getting really old.

Any one know how I could stop this prompt from showing up every time I turn on my computer, etc?

This keeps popping up on my Dell Inspiron laptop. I originally tried to uninstall it but it was not viewable in Add/Remove programs. So I found the program files and deleted them. It still kept on popping up. So I followed other people's advice and unchecked two files that seemed relevant to it (Isdm.exe and one other) in msconfig. This seemed to work but I got the msconfig warning up saying I should restore back to normal settings. So I can't win. I have now gone back to normal settings and the Sonic keeps popping up. And now my machine won't switch off - I have to remove the battery. Any help out there?
Thanks, Tricky

A:Sonic Activation Module

Hope you do not mind me telling you but you should NEVER attempt to uninstall programmes by deleting the files. This leaves all the entries in the registry and all the amended system files etc that have been changed by the program when installed.
Do not bother about that msconfig warning that was simply saying you have altered Startup from Normal startup to Selective startup. If you had looked it also has a check box, DO NOT SHOW THIS AGAIN.
DO you know the date when you removed the program files - by deleting.
If so Programs, Accessories. System Tools, System Restore and select Restore My Computer to an earlier time.
Click Next and on the calender select a date before the deletions try to find a system checkpoint.
WARNING - Any PROGRAMMES, FILES ETC NOT ON THE COMPUTER AT THE TIME OF THAT RESTORE WILL BE LOST.
See if that solves the problem, of the computer not switching off.

I believe that's related to the Sonic DVD software and I've seen it before and yeah, it's annoying as hell. Last time I came across it, I removed it via the add/remove software option on the control panel pretty easily. You should check that it because it should be listed right there under "S" and not some screwey, deceptive name.
If you can't find it or it won't remove correctly though, just say so and we can tell you how to delete the startup entry that runs it.

Okay, so I have a Dell laptop, and like so many others I have had many a problem with Sonic and its attempts to upgrade constantly. Originally I had the problem that most people have, when it tries to upgrade upon boot-up, but that was solved by deleting all of the relevant upgrade files etc.

However, now I have another problem - whenever I open up my DVD player (Cineplayer - seems to be a dell/sonic program) it again tries to install itself, and like before you have to constantly hit cancel! I have looked for any updater files in program files but cannot find any (there is a folder called "Sonic Shared" in common files which has some stuff, but nothing looks like an updater).

I've googled this, but all I get is the solutions to the original problem, not the one I am currently experiencing.

PS: I have disabled the update module and the online update manager in Cineplayer, but it doesnt seem to make a difference.

Thanks in advance,
Ediblespread
