Thinkpad X301 Bluetooth & WiMAX drivers

Q: Thinkpad X301 Bluetooth & WiMAX drivers

Hi everyone! Is there any info regarding the installation of drivers required to use Bluetooth and mobile broadband module on X301 running Windows 10? Unfortunately, couldn't find any working ones. Both Bluetooth and Mobile Internet capabilities seem not to be implemented in the system at all. Thanks for your replies! PS; Would the above-mentioned features work on Ubuntu 17?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I have a Lenovo X301 and I love with all my heart. I've just recently upgraded my SSD and RAM. Read a lot of material about upgrading this model and found some rumors from 2009 that it should support SL9600 and SP9600 CPU's. I've consulted with Intel and they suggested I should contact Lenovo support to clarify whether there is a BIOS support for these CPU's because both SL9600 and SP9600 fit the socket (BGA956). So is there a BIOS that supports these CPU's for X301?I have read some korean forums and some people have successfully upgraded X301 to SP9600, yet it is unclear if they made any software/hardware modifications beforehand to make that possible. This is not a rational but sentimental decision, I know it is not worth the money. SU9600 is an official option, but it is such a minor upgrade I would not bother. Thank you in advance  Offtopic - after I installed Lenovo service bridge on my thinkpad, I am getting an internal server error every time I try to go to lenovo support page. Several people have reported this too, since Nov 30, 2016. Someone should look into that code

I seem to find little to nothing on the X301 and when I put in my serial number it gives me a 2777 as that closes match. Everything I find on recalibrating the battery is of no use because it isn't on the machine I have. There is no power manager that allows me to reset the battery. Is there any other way to do this?

it appears my windows 7 32bit thinkpad x200 has question marks at bluetooth adapters in device manager. I have installed the drivers that are available on the website of lenovo producer, but no change is observable.  The device seems to work well, that is share and access files with android smartphone, and use android's internet, but when it comes to sharing internet with the smartphone, there is no transmission. I wonder if broken drivers could be the cause.  any experiences?

Hi Gnite,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understand that you are facing the issue with Bluetooth on your ThinkPad X200.

Uninstall all the Bluetooth drivers which you have installed in your system, after uninstalling restart the system and download ThinkVantage system update utility from Lenovo support site and install it.

After installation run the application so that it will search all the required drivers and application for your system.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Hi
Im assuming since you have a think pad that the keyboard and mouse are USB, the interlink remote is also usb?

Have you upgraded the MS drivers, Hae you tried One attached by itself to see if it stops, then another, then the last.

Hallo!

When I upgraded I lost use of the bluetooth service on my HP Pavillion DV7 notebook with
Intel Centrino Wireless-N o + WiMAX 6150 chip. The bluetooth driver was not working and identified as the Atheros driver. I went to the Intel site and downloaded and updated the latest Wimax 6150 driver for Windows 10 64 bit and
also updated the laptop chipset. The bluetooth driver was unchanged.
Upon further reading on the Intel site, I read that when the Wimax 6150 is using Windows 7, the bluetooth driver is Atheros, but when using Windows 8.1, or 10, it requires a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver. Fair enough, except that Intel
does not offer this particular driver!
I tried first to update the Atheros driver, but it said it was the latest one, and up to date. I then deleted the Atheros driver hoping that its replacement would be installed with the Wimax 6150 update, but nothing happened. Now,
in Device Manager, I no longer have a line for bluetooth since I deleted the Atheros driver. Can someone point me to a site that has a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver for Windows 10- I'd like to use my bluetooth service on this laptop!

Hey guys,

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.

default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off

and repeat.

I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)

Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck

My bluetooth functionality and even the icon disappeaered from my laptop.  The HP Service Assistant tried to do a network diagnostic and couldn't find a problem.  It said to go to the HP support site and load latest Bluetooth drivers.  The only drivers shown were for a Broadcom Bluetooth.  Not thinking I had a different Bluetoth system I downloaded and installed the Broadcom drivers.  Then I went to the device manager and saw that I did not have a Broadcom system, but an Intel system. (I should have done this earlier I know).  The device manager showed that the drivers were probably corrupted and it couldn't validate the digital signature for the drivers that were there. (Code 52) I revisited the device manager and looked at the properties tab of the drivers and the events tab under that.  It said there that Device USB/VID-8087&PID etc. needed further installation. Now I am confused and frustrated.  I don't want to try to instal this device if it is not the correct Intel device, but rather the Broadcom device. In other words, I don't want to screw things up even more. Can someone please tell me what to do?

I bought this used SL510 Thinkpad in 2015; it states on the bottom that it's a basic model.  The fullmodel no. is: LVK-TPZ-2847(B). It's operating systm is Windows 10 which lists Bluetooth in the"Settings" menu under "Devices."  However there's no mention of Blutooth on either the adhesive (white paper) sticker or the larger (black) label under that.  I checked the "Device Manager" list for Bluetooth but it's not listed nor is there any mention of it on the drop-down list for the WI-FI networks in my vicinity. The particular audio device I want to pair this SL510 Thinkpad with is an "LG-LAP340 SoundPlate", other info. on the box it was in: (DUSALLK) 421S1547-CMB. The manufacturing date is February, 2014.  I did call their tech. support dept., she seemed too give two different answers. And yes, I did have the Sound plate on with "Bluetoth'' enabled. Is tere any software I can download from your website or maybe Microsoft to enable "pairing" between this laptop & this sound plate or do I need to buy a USB adapter for Bluetooth?                    Signed, Ron Haag ([email protected])

A:Does the ThinkPad have Bluetooth?

Hello and welcome,

Not all SL510 models had Bluetooth.  I'm not familiar with the LVK-TPZ-2847 model format, although 2847 looks like the base of the MT-M.  More used to seeing things like 2847-QJU for example.

If you can find an MT-M like that on the laptop try entering it in the search box in SUPPORT above.  If it's recognized there should be a machine info drop-down that could tell you something.

You can also have a look at the withdrawn products PSREF doc for SL510s:  ThinkPad SL and Edge Notebooks; 2009 to 2013 (withdrawn models)

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

HelloAccording to the datasheet for ThinkPad X301 this model ships with an integrated camera. My X301 is "Type 4056-CTO S/NL3-ABD9D 09/03 ID:4057W9R" and I do not see any physical camera lens anywhere, not even close to the light (activates with Fn+PgUp) in the upper right corner of the screen. My T430s has a lens at this position and in the BIOS there is an option to enable/disable a camera. Please tell me whether some production batches of the X301 ship without camera. And if they all do should I expect an option to turn it on/off in the BIOS? I do not see anything in the BIOS that indicates the existence of a camera.Thank you

I have an X301 2777CTR, purchased from the Lenovo Outlet. The computer was spec'ed as having no internal optical drive, and I assumed the cover over the bay where the optical drive or a second battery would go was just that--a cover with no other function except to keep dust out. Also, when I charged the battery, Power Manager reported only one battery present and charging. I ordered a second battery for the empty bay. When the battery arrived and I went to install it, surprise! A second battery was already there. Now, knowing that there really are two batteries in the computer, Power Manager shows "Battery 2:  there is an error."  I can't find any reference for this error message on these forums or in the Lenovo troubleshooting files. How do I get Power Manager to recognize the second battery and report its charge and health state?

A:X301 "Battery 2: there is an error"

It looks as though I have solved my own problem. I set Power Manager to do a battery reset of Battery 1. When it was done (draining and then recharging to 100%), Power Manager showed Battery 2 partially discharged, but in good condition. I am now running a reset on Battery 2. Assuming that results in the remaining battery being calibrated to the computer, I should be in good shape. Thanks for all those that read the message, in any event.

Hi, Starting July 26, there occurred some problems with the Bluetooth of both of my ThinkPad laptop, one is P70 and the other is X1 Carbon 4gen. The main issue is: every time I connect my Bluetooth mouse (Logitech MX Master) and/or Bluetooth game controller (Xbox one controller), after a random amount of time, they would disconnect automatically. Just given an old X301 (surprisingly, first time dealing with this model), and was told by the giver that they thought the mobo was bad due to overheating, and the kb and screen didn't work. Well, not sure how tech-savvy they were, so took that with a grain of salt. Turns out it does post, but the LCD lamp (not sure if LED or CCFL) won't light despite graphics being shown on screen (visible at extreme angles). Like they had said, keypresses aren't recognized. Now, these two issues unto themselves need not confirm a bad mobo. Still, considering a usb kb and external monitor work, is it more likely to be the components or mobo?Just wanted some input before sourcing parts or even popping it open (here's hoping for loose ribbon cables!). **bleep** solid feeling machine though. Would be nice to get this in order even without an upgradable CPU option. Type: 2774-W8Q

Hi there, I switched to an Intel X18-M SSD on my X301 some time ago. I noticed that the new BIOS was released with Secure Erase functionality some time ago. As I was going to rebuild my laptop today, I thought I would give it a go. Turns out that this was a mistake. The utility failed on the Intel SSD necessitating a reboot after running for six hours. After the reboot, it turns out that the utility has set a hard drive password on the disk (there was not one before). As I have no way to know what password it has set, I am effectively locked out of my drive and it's a brick to all intents and purposes.Does anyone (Lenovo in particular) know what password is set during the running of the Secure Erase functionality of the latest BIOS? My only alternative is to find out if there is a default master password from Intel. Since in principle, this should be blank, I believe that I am scuppered unless someone in Lenovo can tell me what password they set using the utility. Thanks in advance.

Hello, so I've just got 3rd party main and ultrabay batteries. The main one seems to work fine. The ultrabay battery was not detected at first, but after main battery got charges to 100%, the ultrabay one got detected as well. And just as it charged to 100% (after the 2nd battery detection the lenovo power manager displayed charging from 60% or so), lenovo power manager suddenly started displaying "60%, not charging". I check the details and it shows my ultrabay battery has 0% charge even though couple of seconds ago it was charged fully. Restart did not help and with AC unplugged, my laptop starts using the main battery, probably because it thinks ultrabay one is empty. Any ideas on how to fix this? :/

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... The Bluetooth would finally connect to my earphones (Bose QC35 or Skullcandy Ink'd) They would work for about 20 minutes, and then Bluetooth would quit, requiring me to go through the process again of removing the Lenovo drivers and reinstalling them. It was driving me nuts, (which I admit, is a very short drive!) I finally uninstalled the Lenovo drivers and then installed the Intel drivers from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/86068/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-8260  Now Bluetooth works just fine on Windows.  I am also using this machine with Linux Mint 18.3. I have only managed to get Bluetooth to connect to my headphones once, though they do appear in the list of Bluetooth devices.          Hope this will help somebody else.

Hi everyone. I've been using my T460 for a few months. Recently the audio has been skipping when playing a sound. I've already downloaded the newer Intel Bluetooth driver and installed but no luck, the problem continues. Any suggestions? I'm using windows 10 with Jabra Move Bluetooth headphones(they work fine with my iphone so it is not them who are causing the problem). Thanks in advance!

Install the latest driver for this device" So I went to the lenovo driver site and downloaded and installed the most recent package for the bluetooth on the site and even after that it is still saying that. I have confirmed I have turned bluetooth on by doing Fn F5.  Any idea what could be wrong?Appreciate you help!

Hello,The Bluetooth indicator light on my Thinkpad T420 is stuck in the on position regardless of if I have bluetooth on or off. This was never an issue until I recently installed a fresh version of Windows 10 on a new SSD. I just want to know how to either:1. fix this problem so that the light works as it is supposed to function, OR 2. disable the Bluetooth indicator entirely so that it doesn't remain on forever. Thanks so much for your help.

Hello, I have been having my T460 (20FN003LUK) for 6 months. During that time I have never worried about bluetooth. Recently I just purchased a bluetooth headset for my phone. Then I had a thought to try using the headset with my T460. I've been looking in the control panel and device manager but I couldn't find any bluetooth setting. I searched online for solutions but I got more confused.  So I was wondering if my particular model ThinkPad T460 (20FN003LUK) does not support bluetooth. Can somebody enlighten me on this?  Thank you so much! Cheersmihsan
