Q: T570 - Cannot enter ME Configuration Screen

T570 - Cannot enter ME Configuration Screen BIOS 1.21ME Firmware When I hit Ctrl-P at boot the message "Launching the ME configuration Screen" appears but then Windows loads instead.

Preferred Solution: T570 - Cannot enter ME Configuration Screen

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

tested the same on another T570 - same issue. I planned to deploy 30 of these tomorrow - which now fails as I cannot set a new admin password for the ME firmware....

On our prior T540-T560 thinkpads we were able to use SCCM with PXE and load Windows 10 images to our new laptops. With the new T570's it gets to the System Center Configuration Manager screen, freezes for a minute or two and then restarts....this is right before we'd USUALLY put in a password, Choose what image to load and it starts the imaging process.  We've added the Lenovo T570 drivers to the image. We're using the Secure Boot and Security Chip options in the BIOS   - just like w/the previous models.Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

I have been using this new T570 for just over a week and have noticed some really upsetting discomfort. After only a few minutes, my eyes become fatigued and I start to experience a strange chilling unpleasantness. The first time this happened, I ended up with a migraine for the rest of the day and got sick.  As a disclaimer, I have normal (20/20) vision and I have never experience any negtaive side effects of using a computer, laptop or phone before. My main driver before getting this machine was a Samsung Tab S2 (AMOLED) and occasionally a normal desktop. I also own an LG G6 (LCD). This tells me that it is not simply the technology of LCD or AMOLED that is making me sick.  I believe the T570 is an LED powered LCD screen (not sure though). This one is FHD with a matte filter.  I have looked up things like PWM but this issue seems to occur whether or not the screen is full brightness.  It took me a week to acknowledge that the issue is actually coming from the screen. I am currently using this with it plugged in to an external monitor and haven't had any negative side effects. Does anyone know what the problem could be? BTW, I also tried changing the resolution (didn't help) and zooming in to 175% (which I thought helped but it didn't). Is this just how these screens are made?Is it somehow bc of the matte finish (hard to believe) or the FHD (really hard to believe)? Is this a defective screen?Did I get stuck with a laptop that had a... Hi guys, So I pull out my laptop this morning and it seems like the panel is busted.  There is a sliver at the top that seems to be "live", but the rest is almost like burned in stretch.  Every now and then if I'm wiggling the screen back and forth it will "refresh" and be clear for a second (but not "live", ie pointer movement does not show) and fades back into the stretch. I have it hooked up via hdmi to my tv, where I am attempting to get service bridge to work, but I figured it'd be worth posting here too.  I assume since my tv image is clear, it is not a software issue and is either the backlight drivers (if such exist) or the panel itself.  I still have 72 days of warranty, is this something that would be covered?  And if so/not, how much am I looking at for repair?

Hello there

So I'm experiencing strange BitLocker behaviour. I have this PC at work. Clean Windows 8 x64 installation, 3 HDD (AHCI), no SSD.

After I set up BitLocker to encrypt "C" partition, it gave me pop-up window, that I should restart PC to test the BitLocker loader. So I clicked Yes. And after few seconds I got this:

JPG IMAGE - http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/f1/f2/22871d1370880908t-very-strange-bitlocker-enter-password-startup-screen-5jkippr.jpg

Mind, I'm still ABLE TO type password (i can't see sh** though), after I hit enter Windows IS booting, but it's really weird to see above picture instead of:

My GFX is OK, I tested it with games, benchmarks etc.
BitLocker simply cannot, for whatever reason, use my video card properly and displays those weird lines. After all - it hasn't loaded the whole Windows yet. Than again, it IS a bit strange, as Windows installers tend to work fine.

Any thoughts people?

Kind Regards

Hello tech,
It's easter, so I realise some helpers might be away and help might be a bit slow as well as answers from me until Tuesday, lol.

I got a problem, driving me up the wall for four days now.
I use a developer program to make executables (hobby of mine saves me going troppo) called Clarion, it works OK, I made a DOSable program with it, it works OK.

Once I could open to full size DOS screen by pressing the Alt+Enter keys and it would stay open until I was finished with it, then I could revert back to a small screen by pressing Alt+Enter keys again.

Now if I press Alt+Enter keys the DOS screen appears, but it stays open in full screen for a couple of seconds then automatically closes back to the usual small screen.

I have tried right clicking on the icon, properties, screen and putting a dot in the full size option, but this does not work.

I have scanned my PC for viruses etc but no joy there.
I have Dialup only, so don't ask me to do a Panda or Trend scan as they drop you if you no got broadband.

I'm using XP pro, 512meg ram, using a Gigabyte MB, and Nivida video card.
XP working OK-dokie, sound ok-dokie, video ok-dokie, screen to DOS wonkie.
OK what do I do now

A:I press Alt+Enter DOS screen.opens 2 full screen then go small in a couple of seconds

You can download PowerCmd and use CTRL+ENTER to test its full screen mode.

I'm having a problem with BF2 where the game will crash with a
"BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
error, right after the logo screen. The game doesn't enter full screen mode.

The first time I saw this error was when I was playing around with BattleRecorder (BF2's own recording engine), and I tried to launch a movie in BattleLauncher. This throws the error described above and I can't run BF2 again without getting the error until the computer is RESTARTED (no logoff and back on). I searched for a way to make Battlerecorder work and I gave up. But, the problem now seems to occur when Battlefield 2 is run for a second time. For example, if I turn on the computer, run BF2, play, close BF2, and try to play again without a restart, it crashes. I tried multiple things to fix this problem, and I eventually ended up downgrading my nvidia drivers to 84.21 (i was running 84.25 beta).

I THOUGHT this fixed the problem, but I must have only tried to open the game once when I went and downgraded the drivers, because it still happens. The only things I have installed recently are xfire, and I remember that that program threw me the error whenever I clicked somewhere inside the program to launch BF2 (xfire has a feature to launch bf2 for you so you can play with a friend). I suppose I should uninstall xfire... I'll try that now.

This computer is NEW, its got several games on it but its only a month old and it has no viruses or s... Read more

Hi there,

I developed a problem with my desktop pc yesterday. I was gaming and the screen began to flicker then the game crashed - citing "rendering device lost". I tried to re-load this again and the same thing happened again, this time with a BSOD. I tried a different game and the same thing occured, took slightly longer though. Given it was late I went to bed.

Today on loading up the sign in screen was flickering lots, I entered my password and was met by a black screen. The computer continued to make fan noises as if it was working, but nothing on my screen. This happened again. On restaring my computer the crash report read

"Blue Screen.

I've looked at the bug dump, but I was silly and did a system restore before this, so there's no bug dump.

The computer starts and runs fine in safe mode and without the graphics card in.

Since I've done a system restore
Cleaned everything again ( was pretty dust free to start)
Uninstalled and re-installed the graphics card drivers
Re-seated RAM and GPU
Done a memory diagnostic on my RAM
None of these have worked.
I've taken the graphics card out and it runs fine with the onboard GPU.

This is a problem I've never encountered in the past (and, believe me, I've encountered hundreds of them). When I turn on my desktop pc, everything is working fine until I come to the log in screen. My curser is an arrow, and it works fine, moves around the screen as it should, until I try to place it into the "type your password" area. At that point, the curser arrow turns into a hand, and it won't allow me to type my password, which means I'm unable to get on line.

I've tried everything I know how to try; unplugging the machine, rebooting, trying a different mouse, etc. Nothing works. Can someone advise me what to do in this situation?

Thanks for your help.

A:Screen Gets Black After Enter On Owner Password

There are several things that could cause this, the most likely being a corruption of your video drivers. To start with, uninstall the current video drivers from your system while in Safe Mode (go to Control Panel...Add/Remove Programs).

If this doesn't fix it, post back and we'll go through the steps for checking out your hard drive, your file system, and the MBR/Boot sectors of the hard drive.

Hi, Before trying the suggestion below, make sure you have backed-up all your personal files etc. If you have created your set of Recovery DVDs, you could use these to reinstall the operating system as this process will also re-create the Recovery Partition and so hopefully regain the f11 functionality. Regards, DP-K

windows 10 HP Pavilion 15- n259Tx ( Can't type Password in login screen)

I am facing this issue that I can't type Password in login screen in windows 10.

When I press key to enter password nothing happened. Password field is blank, it is not detecting keystrokes.

I ran chkdsk /f and /r , no issue found. I ran through safe mode and then i was able to enter password. But when I again tried to login normally I couldn't enter password.

Later I did factory reset by pressing f11 key (using HP recovery manager) which wiped everything and from windows 10 it got restored to original windows 8.

So now in windows 8 during first login I entered password and it worked.

I restarted my system and Woah same problem again. I couldn't enter password.

I think there is a mode on windows xp you can enter so games such as world of warcraft wont' run in full screen. I don't know how to access this mode thouhg, but would like to because without eveyrthing in full screen it will use less of my computers resources and this way my computer won't freeze up. Can anyone tell me how to enter this mode?

A:How to enter a mode where things don't appear in full screen

Well, I'm only guessing, but I think it depends on the game, not on Windows, whether or not you can play it in windowed mode.

Also, I don't think you would gain much with it. Once I tried playing a game in window mode. When I set it up, it warned me to think over twice, because in window mode I possibly will experience performance problems, glitches, etc., and that full screen is better.
Usually games use the same resolution in full screen as in window mode, so, I think, it requires the same computing performance. It's seems only logical that if Windows has to update the desktop besides the game screen, it consumes more resources than the game screen alone.

Performance problems are generally addressed by expanding RAM, defragging HDD, cleaning the OS from virus/Spyware, etc. But someone with expertise might know better.

I've got an HP laptop (dv6568se) and lately it has been having issues going into sleep mode. I close the lid, but it remains on and doesn't go to sleep. Sounds like your one and only profile has been corrupted. You can enable the Hidden Administrator Account by using the guide here. After enabling the Administrator Account create an new admin account. You can burn the iso to a CD using any burning software can can burn a iso image. Isoburner can do this. If the computer supports booting from a USB flash drive you can use Rufus with the iso file. Use a MBR partition scheme and leave all boxes as checked.
Another option is to download Lazesoft Recover My Password Home and create a bootable disk which will allow you to enable the Administrator Account by Unlocking it.

Hello all, I've been messing with and Googling this problem all day and am stumped. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My laptop:
Toshiba A105-S4134
MCE 2005
Intel T2400 Duo Core

1. Two days ago I had a glitch - a bunch of browser windows were open and the system just sort of froze up. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.

2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).

3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings > Boot Priority

4. When I restarted the PC, I heard the CD Rom drive spin for a few seconds, but the screen stayed lack and didn't boot. After some time passed with no activity, I hit control/alt/delete a couple of times and XP then booted form the HD.

5. I unsuccessfully tried multiple times with three bootable CDs (that worked on another Toshiba laptop), including the Recovery and Apps disk that came with the laptop. Same result. I re-checked boot order a few times and the setting priority was still as I had set it.

6. I then found that I was unable to get into either safe mode or BIOS, or to get the PC to boot from the CD ROM during startup using any of F12, F8, F2... Read more

Unfortunately, no one would be able to help you with that. There are supposedly free Windows password cracking software out there on the net you can do a search for. Otherwise you will need to reinstall Windows with a recovery disk or a plain Windows installation disk, if you are asked for a password to use the recovery disk (which I have never heard of).
