BSOD and total windows crash and recovery crash/failure

Q: BSOD and total windows crash and recovery crash/failure

Hey,

My month and half old Acer V3 started to give BSOD's, did some sort of recovery and started working again for a couple of hours, if not trying to access any Windows files. If tried to look up error logs etc it gave different versions of the BSOF. So I tried to run Recovery, getting it back to factory settings, and that's when Windows crashed completely. I followed Acer customer support advice, ordered recovery discs (couldn't create one because Windows crashed when trying it. I got the recovery discs, ran the recovery which ended up giving me failure because of "missing image-something". Another call to Acer and they told to run different recovery version from the puter.

That recovery end to a failure again. After several restarts and what not, windows started up again, being slower than usual. I'm now having constant problems losing internet connection, I've had couple minidumbs and several issues with windows updater and such and these after machine should be back in the factory settings. Anyhow, here's the last log if anyone could take a look on it before I throw this machine to the wall.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: BSOD and total windows crash and recovery crash/failure

For starters:

At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

In particular, start with the hard drive diagnostics as I suspect that is the problem.

Although there's only 2 memory dumps (it usually takes 4 or 5 to conclude if it's a hardware error or not) - the repeated failure of factory installs makes a hardware failure the most likely problem here. Please run the diagnostics that I suggested above and let us know the results.

There are a list of drivers that need updating (because the recovery media was made a while ago). Don't worry about them until you've finished the hardware diagnostics. If all the diagnostics pass, then update the drivers.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I am helping a man who escaped Katrina with 3 changes of clothes. And now I fear I have made matters worse.
Someone gave him a Gateway with OS Win 98. It would only boot up in safe mode and had very limited access to programs and of course no access to most hardware. He had no software with the system. I have a windows 98 disk and Microsoft gave me a new product key. So everything went fine. ....
UNTILL I tried to get him on AOL. (his choice). The OS had aol 4.0 installed and connected right away. everything fine so far. He has dial up. I connected to upgrade AOL...Extremely slow, and here is where I think I made my fatal mistake. I stopped the upgrade, thinking I would get a new AOL disk. WELL everything crashed. Unable to start windows 98 at all.
I get AMIBIOS System configuration. Gives information on system and then adivises " Invalid sysem disk Replace the disk, then press any key. "Have I ruined this poor man's system?

I do have a hard drive from a different Gateway that has Windows XP, could I change out the hard drives and be ok?.... I am totally in the dart on this one and I really want to help the gentleman out.

Any assistance will be greatly appreicated.

How do I run the diagnostics when OS does not recognize cd roms and will not boot even in safe mode. Dos does not recognize the cdroms either. and I have no way of downloading these to floppy. I have tried usb flash memory device and it is not even on the radar of the problem system.
You are so generous to help. Thanks.
Do you think it would be helpful to take the cpu to a tech shop? It will cost me but I really want to help this guy, he just sits in small apt all day and says" I think I would like to try to learn that online poker" LOL . it would really help him pass the time.

I had windowas completely crash, to the point of black screen. I havent installed anything new, other than PC tools firewall. It had been running fine all day, and I went to start COD4, and it wouldnt load....app crash. Then I noticed that Avast was turned off. I decided to do a sys restore, and after POST, I get to the login screen, type PW, and thats it. Blackness. SO, I tried WRE...no joy there. But while I'm sitting in blackness, I can hit Ctrl/Alt/Del and get the blue screen for Taskmgr options, but when Taskmgr opens. theres only lilike 5 tasks running_CRSS,DWM,taskmgr,winlogon, and taskhost. And I cant click any other tabs in TMGR either. So I cant even get a mini dump. Any suggestions or possible causes? Not a big emergency...I do have other systems, but this is the NEW rig. I'm wondering if it is hardware based......?

Hello,

I just added 2x HGST Travelstar 7k1000 to my Dell m6700 in a windows striped dynamic disk (OS RAID 0). One is in the secondary hard drive slot; the other is in an optical drive caddy. I have tried two such caddies. These disks are not used for OS. For that, I use a Samsung 840 pro 256gb SSD.

I am encountering seemingly random total crashes. There can be as much as a week between crashes or as little as a few hours. The active application will stop responding. Switching applications via the task bar causes the task bar to similarly change colors as if it was not responding. CTRL+ALT+DELETE has no effect. I recover by holding the power button for 5 seconds, causing a hard shutdown.

I typically restart my system weekly; other than that, it is either on or in sleep mode.

I currently have my page file disabled (because I have 24gb of RAM), but that has been the case for almost a year and there were no problems until I added these hard drives. Before adding these hard drives, I had a 320GB OEM hard drive that served the same purpose.

Thank you for your assistance

Let's start by opening a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

I also notice quite a few windows update failures. Are all of your updates installed? if not please install them then click and check for updates until it says there are no more. Let us know how that goes.

You may also want to run the Windows update readiness tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 which is supposed to try to fix update problems. Just scroll down to the Windows 7 X64 version and download it.

I tried to repair but installation DVD wouldn't even see the windows installation, so I reinstalled, it was painfully slow and got some failed to install messages along the way and finally it became distorted again. This is most likely hardware failing but which hardware? hard drive? MB? graphics card? its a averagely old PC which I've been using alot so I'm not sure what is not working exactly.

Edit: my specs on here are correct if you are wondering about them.

A:Total Windows crash, not sure whats going on

Test those hardware parts on other computer and see if it causes any issues on that. I don't think there's any other way to identify the problem.

You can run diagnostics on the hard drive by downloading Seatools and making a bootable disc. Do the short and long test.

If either test fails, the drive needs to be replaced.

Hey everyone,

About an hour ago I was using my main PC, writing a paper and scrolling through random sites looking for information. I suddenly get a pop-up that says something about Java script, and I see a loading bar. I try not to click on it cause I realize it's something else, but then I get what appears to be a Windows Security pop-up that listed the name of a trojan. The computer proceeded to process very slowly, and then I'm hit with a BSOD. I didn't quite get to see what the error was, but I think it ended in (0x00...)7e or something.

Now it refuses to boot up after multiple restarts. It goes past the ASUS welcome screen, and goes straight to that black screen with the blinking gray bar at the top left. I've waited 20 minutes at the longest and it just stays there.

I'm not much of a computer person, so I'd really appreciate it if any help was simplified somewhat!

Windows 7 home edition x64 purchased from a retailer. I built the PC myself and installed windows myself

- What is the age of system (hardware)?
1 year old
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)

My CPU acts like clockwork when it crashes. Same steps for the type of crash

1) When computer is cold. First time start of the day. System crashes when gaming BSOD error (no specific error code)
2) Reboot 6 or 7 times
3) Computer POSTS but does not load windows
4) Reboot 5 or 6 times
5) Computer loads windows
6) Play a game (just cause 2)
7) System crashes (Bug code USB driver error)
8) After the second crash. System seems to work fine (see below)

This has happened 3 days in a row now. Weirdest part is, after the CPU has warmed up (on for like a half hour) CPU doesn't crash all day (left it on one time for 2 days straight with a game playing)

Been a tech guy for a while, built this PC myself and I am so perplexed about what is going on. Please help and let me know if you need any more system information.

I believe this to be a hardware issue, most likey from the motherboard. I just woud appreciate a second opinion.

It's worth mentioning that I had both grap... Read more

Since virtually all of these are related to your USB bus as you surmised, I would do the following.

First please remove the following driver as it has known issues with win 7, this driver is Related to AODDriver2.sys AMD OverDrive Service Driver from Advanced Micro Devices

Then I would read and follow the generic help in the seven forums link, and the fix-it help in the Microsoft link.

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my ASUS F5GL laptop. If I try to launch a game like Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod or Just Cause 2, not long after actually leaving the menu and beginning to play (anywhere between 2-5min), the whole laptop just silently crashes. I checked ALL the logs, and there is nothing in there, except something recorded at boot, saying the computer was not cleanly shutdown. When it does crash, a second before it crashes, a weird thin horizontal line appears in a random location on the screen, going all the way across the screen. This was happening under Windows Vista, but I just bought and did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's still happening. I have updated my drivers and it still happens. Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

I have had my computer for a long, long time, but recently (the past couple of months), my Windows XP has been crashing, and freezing up. Now, since before this started happening, I have had an "EnergyStar" thing popping up telling me of imminent failure on startup, but have never paid any mind to it.

Just about a week or two ago, my Windows XP failed to start in safe mode, normal mode, and even command prompt mode, so I was forced to do an emergency re-format to the original packaged hardware, programs, etc. (Back at the beginning XP edition, clean) I play games on my computer, and I have been playing a game called "CloudNine" recently, because I rather like it. It worked before my computer 'died,' but now, whenever I open the game, the game crashes, and the computer screen freezes at the crashed game screen. I have two options to view my desktop again, press start, or press the calculator button on my keyboard. But the problem is, whichever one I choose crashes before going back to the desktop. (calc.exe or explorer.exe)

Now, I know this may sound like a game-related error, but I am fairly confident--No, I am sure that it is an OS error.

When I started back up with a clean re-install/re-format, the first things I did were:
1. Re-install internet connectivity software
2. Update windows via automatic updates
3. Update NVIDIA graphics driver

I think either my Windows is corrupt, or... Yeah, that.

A:BSOD at random times after driver crash/recovery ati graphics related

From the title it seems so ... still asking ... have you faced any such notification popup?
The display chip is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670. And all the random dumps (from the latest to the earliest) I have checked, it shows a very old display driver, and the same one allover.

Code:
Image name: atikmpag.sys
Timestamp: Fri Jan 22 18:37:54 2010
Such an old driver may fail by itself only.

Have you ever updated the display driver? If not, install the CCC 14.4 WHQL.

Let us know for any further BSOD after doing it. The reporting will be important, because there may be some more things causing display failure influencing the BSODs.

A:Xp Total Crash

You need to tell us more about your system, who made it (manufacturer), what operating system it has, have you done all the critical updates and the problem it is experiencing.

We need the exact error message it is giving you.
Are all the fans running?

What anti-virus program are you running?

Have you changed or added any hardware or software (including updates and updating drivers) just before this began happening?

When you say, "System Recovery" are you talking about the Windows System Restore" wizard utility that will reset your system back to the state it was in a few days or weeks ago or are you talking about a manufacturer's System Restoration disk or partition that is designed to restore the computer's software and settings to the way it was in when it was new? These are two entirely different things.

Have you tried "Last Known Good Configuration" from the Safe Mode menu?

What exactly is your computer doing? Does it post the bios screen and reboot before Windows starts, or is it doing something else?

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this exactly because I have an issue where EVERYTHING crashes. It mostly starts when I'm playing a game and the sound bugs out on me. It's like my headphones blow up and it starts glitching weirdly. Then my graphics start freaking out, and colours get switched around like crazy. Finally, my browsers, my skype and a bunch of other online stuff crashes, which I cannot start up again because I keep getting crash reports with literally no useful information, so I have to start up my computer again.

I have searched for AGES to find anyone that has the same problem as I have, but I have yet found nothing, so I thought I would turn to you guys. I'm not expecting you to be the almighty gods and do everything for me, but a little help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have run a couple of System Scans from Avast, but so far he has found nothing yet. I will try again though, maybe this time he will find something.

Ok, so normally I can fix most any bug on my computer, and it's not a big deal for me.... But this one sucks and it has been a problem for about a month now. I have tried over a dozen different "fixes" from over 8 different blog sites with no real solution to my problem. I am running Win7 home premium w/4Gig ram, Intel i3, on an Asus U50F.
Here is a run down of what happens:

I log on, windows starts normally, windows runs for about 3-5 minutes with nothing wrong and then freezes. The mouse is still movable but cannot open or close anything. If task mgr is up and onscreen, it will also freeze. I have to hard-boot the system every time. I am currently operating in Safe-mode w/networking just to get on the web, or do anything. Safe-mode runs fine I just don't want to use it forever!

Hi Indyspark and welcome to TSF,

None of the processes sticks out, and are perfectly fine where they are.

Could you access the event log and see if there are any faults around the time that this issue appears? If so, what faults do you receive?

You could try running a "sfc /scannow" and a system repair aswell as restoring to a previously known working restore point, just as general "fixes".

My problem is this:
My daughter downloaded a file from YouTube and played it. The computer was fine. She turned the computer off.
Next day I turn it on and all I get is the screen where the options when the computer didnt shut down correctly are listed.
OK I think I will reinstall Windows XP and everything will be fine. No. I load the CD and the screen tells me the files are being loaded. Install the SATA driver and it continues on.
After a while the computer re-boots and I am back to the list of options page.
I can not install XP, it just refuses to get beyond a certain point.
Does anyone have any suggestions I can use for getting past this?
I thought maybe it was something to do with a file in the XP setup so I tried installing Linux Ubuntu but exactly the same.

It sounds like you installed Windows on different folder of the C: drive And Windows is loading to the old version with the problem. You could have maybe fixed this problem, but it may be too late now. If you want to re-install Windows, Boot off of the XP CD, and choose to Delete the Partition, Create a new partition, Format the Partition NTFS and then Install Windows.

Sick of this, I bought an ext eSATA drive and it has a full bootable copy of the C and D drives on the laptop.

I can boot to either one, and tested it many times. Thanks to the boot menu.

Okay, boot to the backup.

Same problem! omg! No safemode, nothing.

I cannot spend more days reinstalling everything. [and how much did I lose this time?]

I have had a total server crash. Everything is not correctly working and the full windows system is damaged (empty popups, strange errors, no desktop icons etc.). BUT fortunately my Exchange-Folder seems to be untouched and completely well. So at first I started to copy my Mailbox-Folder (which includes the edb file). Is there anything else I should recover?
Now I want to reinstall everything which will result in a completely new domain with a new Exchange setup. The domain name will remain the same, but the Domain Controller and Exchange Server will be completely new. Is there a way, to reimport my edb-file into the new Exchange server after the Installation or will it crash because the new server cannot handle the old mailbox database? In fact, there is only one Mailbox I want to reimport (my own one) as I am a Student^^
So I just want to reinstall everything and import my mails again. What should I do or backup else before I format the HDD?

A:I have had a total server crash.

Exchange version/SP/Rollup updates?
Domain Really doesn't matter here to mount a database!
If you have EDB File you can mount it only *IF* the below is true:
Exchange Organization & Administrative Group Name should be same. In case if your Exchange Organization/Administrative Group doesn't match between your Old Environment and New, The database will fail to mount with Error 1088.
If your old Exchange Server is not a Domain Controller then you may go with Disaster Recovery Process.http://forums.techguy.org/windows-8/1148363-how-open-corrupted-exchange-server.html#post9083162
As you are building the environment from scratch you may follow the below:
From the command prompt run the command:
Find /i "/o=" "Your datbase path\Your Database Name.edb"
From the output above what we get is: /o=DATAMATICS LTD which is my Exchange organization Name and /OU=First Administrative Group which is my administrative group.
So, you would need to install Exchange with OrganizationName Specified as Datamatics. If your Exchange version is 2007/2010 then you don't need to really worry about Administrative Group. In case if your Exchange version is Exchange 2003 and if you know for sure that the name of the Administrative group is "First Administrative Group" (by default this will be the name) the you can mount the old edb file on the new server and you can reconnect your disconnected mailbox after you create an AD Account.
Also , Make sure to copy the logs as you will need them in case if... Read more

Yep.. once again my computer up and decided that functioning normally.. that is, functioning AT ALL was no longer an option. I had just shut down WoW when everything froze, mouse included. Ctrl Alt Del, Alt-Tab, the little Windows button, you name it. Nothing was working. So I hit the restart button on the comp. The desktop loads up, then instantly freezes again in the same fashion. Hitting restart again, I got a message on the login screen mentioning something along the lines of "...your settings will now be restored." The desktop loaded, followed by a window appearing and displaying the progress of what looked like the restoration of Windows components. Shortly, this froze as well. Frustrated, I hit the restart button again, except this time my poor little Shuttle couldn't even make it to the Windows loading screen. "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: /WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM" and then it suggested I insert the Windows disc and use the repair function. This might have gone smoother if the setup would proceed long enough to reach the first screen, where I can select the repair function. But before it could reach that screen, it said that the file "cpqarray.sys" was corrupt. Setup had failed as well. I tried a few more times, and finally it got to the part where I could choose to press "r" for repair. Here I found another problem: upon entering the repair console, I was asked for the ad... Help! Any ideas? I know I need to update drivers, but I need to get onto the Internet to do that and obviously can't get online if I can't input the right info.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Julie
PS: I won't be able to download SP1, even if I get the Internet connection figured out, for about another week.

Wow, that's a nasty problem...try to uninstall from Programs and Features the things you don't need and then using a lot of patience open a document and something and copy/paste to Start=>Run "msconfig". From the startup tab try to uncheck the boxes in front of the things you know of and don't need in the startup. Restart and see if it works.
By the way...how did you managed to open this post if you can't write on your pc? kidding

I read your other post about Malware GO removal and it will not apply to my problem. The problem is that I can not access the internet at all to download anything! I am currently working from a small pc (a notebook) that I gave to my daughter. This pc has no drive to download and burn anything. The pc it is on has Vista as an OS. It appeared yesterfay while I was trying to access my AT&T account. I have no idea how it got on there. Now any time I try to go online it redirects my pc to a fake "cannot access this page" site. So I cannot access anything online. On the pc itself, it stops you from being able to access anything that could possibly help such as; restore options, removal of programs it just does not show up for removal, stops access to stopping it from starting at start up, stops from access most anything file that can help. THe only way I can see to remove this virus is to manually remove all files that are attached to this and I do not know how. I access a page from this computer that showed which registry enteries to delete but could not find them once I went into the registry. It also said to delete some files that began with " % " but I have no idea where to go to find them. PLEASE HELP! I need that pc for school since I go online and my next class begins March 1st! HELP!

More detail please:
I'm confused about what you're trying to do. Do you HAVE a recovery CD and does your computer have a CD reader?

What was the last thing ths PC waas doing BEFORE you go into this state?

When you see the message "Please press R to see options for recovery" does it bluescreen immediately or only after you press R?

THEN does it bluescreen immediately or only after it starts to load?

Did you check your BIOS settings?

Did you call the manufacturer?

So, this morning my computer crashed out of nowhere. I run Windows 7, and missed the blue screen with error info before it restarted. Anyway, it would not start back up and went straight to the Windows repair system. After 2 attempts at a system restore, it restarted once more, the repair ran for nearly an hour, and then told me nothing could be done.

I proceeded to run a memory check, no problems there. Finally, I decided that it would need a reformat, and tried copying from one hard drive to another via the command prompt (yo6666u can access it without windows starting up) and I was greeted with a cyclic redundancy check.

Now, I've tried reinstalling Windows 7. The first time it failed. The second time, it went through the main install just fine, but hung on the "preparing to your computer for first use" screen, and told me that the install was unsuccessful and that I should try again.

It's currently reinstalling a third time. Not even done expanding files yet.

Sooo, this is all really weird. The hard drive in question is a 3-year-old 250GB Western Digital IDE drive. Is it finally dead? Or is this something else?

Thanks in advance! :D

Hi! This morning my mother was online checking a newspaper website when they system froze up completely. After attempting CTL-ALT-DLT without seeing the task manager she simply turned off the computer (she has a mac and evidently this is how she resolves problems at home). When I tried to reboot I kept getting the Windows start up screen and then it went into a DOS screen giving me several choices:
restart in safe mode
restart in safe mode with networking
restart in normal windows mode
restart using the most recent configurations

I have tried all these options and no matter what I choose it loops into the Windows is starting up screen and then takes me to the DOS screen with those choices.

I am desperate as I am recovering from surgery and forced to work from home. I am fortunate to have my laptop here but I really need my PC up and running. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance,

Kitty

I've had my GTX 285 for a few years now and I haven't had any problems til now. Starting about 4 months ago I've been unable to play games without my entire system crashing. On higher end next gen games, the crash comes as soon as I am in game. On older games from 2002 or so, I can play for about 15 minutes before it crashes. When the computer does crash, I have to completely unplug the power and wait for the motherboard to power down before I can restart the computer.

There are no heat issues with either my CPU or GPU, I'm getting plenty of power, and I've swept out and reinstalled all of my drivers. Thoughts?

I've had Windows 7 crash twice on booting up in the last 3 months.

The Windows logo appears out of the black screen just above where it says "Starting Windows" and then freezes before flashing a blue screen (too quickly for me to see what it says) and then starts a system repair.

Both times the repair has failed, and I've had to resort to a System Image Recovery, which solves the immediate issue, but it seems there's an underlying issue somewhere.

I have a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ SATA2 internal drive, and I'm worried that it's on its way out even though it's only 18 months old. The CPU is an Intel i7 2600, and the motherboard is an ASUS P8P67-M B3.

If it is Windows that has the problem, how do I stop it from doing this? And if it's the HHD, is it a problem with how the drives are, or is mine dying; and what are the options for a computer hardware novice?

Thanks in advance

Windows, once again, had a problem booting up today. Instead of the usual black screen with Starting Windows and the logo coming out of the dark, I had the black screen with a green segmented loading bar at the bottom which I've learnt means trouble.

Luckily, Startup Repair worked this time, but I could still do with a jot of help please...

I'm running dual hard drives and I started my computer this morning to find the usual hard drive select screen. I selected my usual hard drive and continued to the next select screen. I was prompt with a recovery or a start windows normally options. I selected the usual "start windows normally". Then my computer was forced into recovery mode which never loaded. It loads a blank windows recovery screen that never loads. I left the computer to load for over 2 hours and no luck, it never loads. I've tried restarting and selecting the recovery option for the second option.. but the same result. I've never had this kind of issue before and I'm wondering if the main hard drive has failed. I've tried the usual F12, CTRL+ALT+DEL combos but it is completely unresponsive. The second hard drive I have doesn't have windows installed so it leads nowhere if I choose it.

I've attached a few pictures before for each of the screens along with the blank windows recovery screen.

Hello, I hope I can get some help here

First off some information:

- Notebook: Acer Aspire 5551G
- Used since: About 6-7 year old (owned by a friend before)
- System: Windows 7
- CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 P320 (2.1GHz)
- Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
- RAM: 4GB
- HDD: 320GB
- Battery: 6-cell Li-ion

Now to the problem:

A few days ago, the screen crashed in a strange way. First, it showed some pixel chunks all around in multiple colors, similar to those old TVs without programms but colorful and not moving pixels at all. It was like this just for less than 5 seconds, then, it just went blackscreen. The power LED stayed on but as I didn't know what to do I hold it pressed for a shut down. I turned it on again after a few minutes, it just said that it had crashed but thats all, Windows went on as nothing had happend.
I had not been doing anything special at the moment it crashed, I think it was just Youtube if I remember right

I luckely got a bad feeling and immediatly saved my most important datas in a USB.

A day later I turned on the notebook for some music while I was cooking (just standard windows music player). I was coming back to change the song as I saw it from afar crashing again. This time the screen was full of vertical colorful lines. Few seconds later, again blackscreen.

Since this it does not turn on anymore. The power LED lights blue, it seems like it wants to start, the screen stays black. It takes like a minute, then the LED turns off. The strange ... Read more

Hi there,

Your problem is definitely a hardware issue and it looks like it's either the integrated video card or the LCD screen. Do this, get your hands on a spare working external monitor and connect to the VGA port of your laptop. See if the same problem occurs on the external monitor. Good thing you backed up your important files onto your USB flash drive. Hope everything works out well for you and feel free to ask more questions.

I didn't really see a clear cut "help desk" or "request some support" section... so i think I will try here... Sorry if it isn't the right forum!

So...

ok..... so I have been having one issue since the new build..... it didn't start right away, it started about 10 days ago.(complete new build roughly 25 days ago, my first one)

Random freeze or total crash.

I am not getting any blue screens of death......

If it freezes, it literally freezes, and i cant do anything to get out of it but a hard reboot (power button for 5 secs)

If it crashes.... the whole system goes down... then idles at an almost start-up... screen stays black though, and it doesnt enter the boot cycle. When this happens, I can press the reset button on the front of the unit, and the machine boots right up.

In each scenario I get the select an option of how to boot up screen... i always just select "Start Windows Normally" and it boots right into windows.

Sometimes this will happen twice in a night, sometimes it wont happen for 2 days. It feels random.

I do feel like the only 100% constants are the following

Asus monitoring/OC'ing software (I dont do any overclocking, everything stays at default settings)
EVGA Precision OC/Monitoring Software (Again, no oc'ing just use for monitoring)
AVG (Anit-virus)
Creative Audio Console
Steam Client

Your overall system temperature is quite fine but as for your cpu your celcius temp range is 131-136.4 in fereinheit. I don't know what your chip is rated for but I would look into this. If it is too hot then that may be your issue right there.

Also, what is your power supply and wattage?
