Q: Touch screen is just gone, no longer available on this displ...

I have an Envy 23 that was touch/pen capable until only a few days ago. It now shows "no pen or touch available for this display." The HID compliant for touchscreen is hidden and cannot install, update, or rollback driver because the hardware is not connected. I have attempted to rollback Window updates, install Window updates (all), restore to an earlier time when the PC was working with touchscreen, update and rollback drivers, reboot to the manufacturer set up, etc. I would attempt to calibrate except there is no option for that. Many of the suggestions require steps that are no longer found on the PC.The onscreen keyboard has even disappeared. The only suggestions I can find from forums, web searches, and the customer care number is to winkey + X and update the driver in the HID --- No possible since it cannot find the hardware or hardware is not connected. What hardware? It is not in the hardware recovery, reboot, search of PC, and I did not buy this separate. I have looked for calibration options but they do not exist on the PC as far as I can find.I have looked on HP's site for the driver(s) or other options and nothing. Is there a way to get the touchscreen driver, hardware, or whatever is needed fixed? I purchased this specific for the touchscreen and to lose it kind of defeats the purpose of having it.Thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

After a month of use, the touch screen of my Inspiron 13 5000 series no longer works.
Initially, when I restarted the computer it would work again. But now this doesn't help anymore.
I went to settings > connected devices >device manager > human interface devices > HID compliant touch screen and it says "This device is working properly." I disabled and then enabled again the device but nothing changed.
Is there anything else I should do?

A:Touch screen no longer works

I'd suggest you uninstall and reinstall touch screen driver:
1. Go to device Manager, right click touch screen driver, and then uninstall. To reinstall touch screen driver, click 'Action' at the device manager taskbar, and then click "Scan For Hardware Changes".

My recently purchased X1 Yoga touch screen has stopped working. Things I've tried to so far: Updating all drivers for BIOS and other devicesDisabling and re-enabling the touchscreen device and Wacom HID device in Device ManagerUninstalling touch screen device and Wacom HID Device in Device ManagerUnchecking "allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Reboot from safe modeRestore Windows to factory defaultFor clarifications the pen is working just fine.  I was able to get the touchscreen back for awhile by uninstalling the Wacom device in Device Manager and rebooting. That fix doesn't work anymore. I'm really frustrated by this - not even restoring windows to factory default fixes the problem. I've looked online for many hours on this issue and pretty much tried everything suggested. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've just reinstalled Windows 10 on this laptop and the touchscreen no longer works or is recognized. The device manager does not even list a touch-device under human interface devices, and the settings app reports that Pen & Touch is unavailable. I manually installed the intel chipset and display drivers from the support pages, but it has not made any differences. Does anyone have some insight as to why this might be happening?

My Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB is a 2 in 1 laptop running Windows 10 Home.  Meaning full Active S Pen and Touch screen.  After installing the Version  1909 update, it's Device Specifications (via Windows Settings) Pen and touch:  No pen or touch input is available for this display.    In Device Manager/Human Interface Devices, no HID Touch screen device or driver is available.  The Wacom Device cannot start.  I'm assuming because Version 1909 eliminated the pen and touch support. I ran a full restore of Win 10 Home (no pen or touch support found), ran a driver update scan via Lenovo.  It identified a "Touch Panel Pen Driver - 10" driver to be updated.  Update the driver and reboot and nothing has changed.  Start the Lenovo Pen Settings App and get a message that the Wacom Pen Driver is required.  Odd, since the Wacom Device won't start as stated above.  Follow the Lenovo Pen Settings link to download the Wacom Pen driver, install it, no change in functionality.  Same process before and after v1909 update with no Pen or Touch support.  It's barebones, no antivirus, firewall, anti-malware to get in the way. The machine came with a HDD partition of drivers but nothing identified as an HID touch screen.   Brett

Hi there, I recently purchased an HP Active Stylus to use with my HP Spectre x360 (HP Pavilion x360 - 13-u151tu). I followed some links online to try and find a driver that would allow the Active Stylus to work (as HP as failed to package native support with the laptop itself). Win 10, was working for a long time. Sometime in the last few months it stopped. Haven't been able to get it going again.

In System information it says no Touch Input is available.

In Device Manager it shows if you select to show hidden devices, but it says it is not connected. I uninstalled this, but at some point it returned, but now I did uninstall again and it doesn't show.

Everything seems up to date.

Not to keen on doing system reset.

Any suggestion appreciated.

I got my laptop just a few weeks ago, and it came with Windows 10.  Soon afterwards the touch screen started not working, very similar to the posts about the USB device being powered down to save battery (you can find those posts, from Dec 2013 else on this site).
However, I'm on Windows10, with the recent large November public update applied.  In device manager there is no 'USB Input Device' listed under Human Interface Devices.
Further: the System's Settings->About panel the OS is reporting under "Pen and Touch" that "No pen or touch input is available for this display".
So, beyond USB power settings, it seems like I'm completely missing the device driver for the touch screen.
I have applied every driver, bios & firmware update that I can find on the Dell support site.  Nothing fixed things.
Any hints?  Am I looking for a display driver or an input driver or something else?
Thanks!
Dave.

A:Dell XPS 15 (Model 9550) touch screen no longer working.

Same problem here, plus I see an “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” in my device manager constantly appearing and disappearing. Also the touch does not work in the Diagnostic application you can enter via the bios. I don’t know if it should work there, on the 9530 Model it did…
I have the device now for about a week and I think Dell should again be deeply ashamed of what they deliver to their loyal customers.
With the 9530 model they refused to repair the coil whine problem a lot of people complained about. This was really annoying but at least I could work with the device.
The 9550 model has not two issues which really prevent me from doing my work.
As soon as you activate hyper-v the screen starts flickering and the display driver starts crashing.
Touchscreen not working.
We are talking about really expensive hardware here and it’s extremely frustrating when you experience more troubles with a 2.500$ Notebook than you do with 500$ hardware.
And on top of it all they told me today that they could not replace my display because Dell has no replacement parts on stock and they don’t know when they will get them. And that’s exactly what you get when you pay for “Next-Business-Day” “Pro” support.
If the device does not work at the end of the week I will send it back.

Hi,
I have Dell E2014T monitor attached to Intel NUC. Originally, the base install was Windows 7 64-bit, but due to the automatic updates it was updated to Windows 10. Obviously, it is not possible to revert operating system to Windows 7.
Nevertheless, everything worked correctly until recently, when new updates from Microsoft were automatically installed in Windows 10. Monitor works correctly, but the "click" on the touch screen does not work. Simply saying - I can move windows but cannot press any buttons.
For 100% it is not hardware fault - when attaching monitor to older laptop with Windows 8 both monitor and touch screen works properly.
I learned on the other threads that Dell states that Windows 10 is "not supported" for this monitor and recommends revert to Windows 7.
The question is - is how it can be? As Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7, and Windows 8/8.1 will be no longer supported in a year and 3 months from now, how it can be that Dell has not released any driver for MS Windows 10?
Does it mean that Dell is dropping now all users who bought this monitor?
I can understand that Dell may be dropping old and unsupported operating systems but in this case Microsoft forces all users to migrate to Windows 10, so users have no other choice than to migrate.
Can anyone in Dell take a look at this issue and release new driver for Windows 10?
Obviously, the problem is going to affect ALL USERS OF DELL E2014T MONITOR, on January 2018 the latest, as ... Read more

Try installing the Win 8.1 drivers available Here--

Dell is not abandoning those upgrading to 10, just cannot make new drivers for 10. Win 10 has compatible win 10 drivers for almost all hardware.
Before installing Dell drivers, try updating the ones you have by opening Device Manager and see if windows 10 has a better update.

Again this was tricky and had to be done blindly. Here are the keystrokes:First shutdown your laptop. Now press Novo button (small button besides power button) to turn on laptop and follow keystroke as follow:'down arrow' 'enterkey' 'right arrow' 'right arrow' 'right arrow' 'enter key' 'down arrow' 'enter key' 'right arrow' 'enter key' 'enter key' Now your laptop would reboot and show boot screen on external monitor. Cheers!!

Good day! After installing the latest update for Windows 10 (Version 1607, OS Build 14393.222), the screen just went black! I noticed that I'm already logining in windows from the light of the fingerprint but I couldn't see anything on screen. I tired to format everyting in the PC and reinstall Windows back again through entering the Recovery Screen. I was able to get the screen back but this time the brightness was full and I couldn't change the level of it. I did some search about this issue and then I manually update the display adapter (Intel HD Graphics 520) from the device manager. After this update the screen went off again! I tried to follow the solutions in the following link but nothing worked.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht501760 I then tried to reinstall windows again and I connect my laptop to HDMI port. I was able to view everyhing in the extended screen but when I project to the PC screen I don't get anything. I disabled the Intel HD Graphics 520 driver and by doing so I was able to see the screen back in PC. So it seems it's a driver issue. I tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall it again with the lateset version (Version 21.20.16.4505) but when I enable it the screen goes black again. Now the display adapter is disabled and I can't change anything in the screen settings or control the brightness. What is the solution? Appreciate your help and support!

So I have a small 10" touch screen as a secondary screen and it is recognized and installed when I plug it in the computer. My problem is that the actual touching is severly misplaced and I can notuse the calibration tool (Tablet PC Settings in control panel) to correct this problem. It is as if the vertical and horisontal inputs of the screen has been swapped. If I touch the right side on the screen and drag my finger to the left I can see the cursor go from the top to the bottom and if I touch the top and drag down the cursor goes from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen.Installing the drivers from the manufacturer of the touch controller, http://www.eeti.com, did not help at all. It just says there are no touch controllers connected to my computer. Is there a way I can correct this problem?

Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field.  This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active.  How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?

The way to fix the problem is to remove the drivers the updates installed and have windows install the default drivers again so then you won't have to worry about it reverting to the "updated drivers". In Programs and Feature under control panel make sure you remove the Synaptics driver if there is one, and also in device manager under control panel click "Human Interface Devices" and uninstall any touchpad devices it may list by right clicking on them and uninstalling also click the box which says to remove all the device files or whatever. After thats complete reboot and windows should resync itself and load the standard working drivers again.

ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

I assume you are talking about x1 carbon.  There is no touch digitizer.  Most custimers didn't want or choose the touch option so the 4th gen was made without a digitizer option and the x1 yoga gen1 was basically an x1 carbon plus the touch digitizer.  The 5th gen carbon has no touch option but there is an x1 yoga gen2 with touch.  X1 carbon gen6 and gen 7 do have a touch option again, but they do not have the built-in pen found on x1 yoga gen 3 and 4.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

I am experiencing the very same thing.A driver/BIOS update would be very much appreciated, dear Lenovo.

A:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.
Regards

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

What would have happened? Did I get a wrong product or do I need to activate the touchscreen feature somewhere?  Best, Paul

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more
