I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I currently have Intel's integrated graphics (G33) installed on my computer, which doesn't have a DVI port for my LCD. Someone I know gave me their old GeForce 8600 GT card, since they've upgraded to a higher end card. However, I only use my computer for office-based applications and the Internet. I don't do any gaming. Do you think its worth my time to install the GeForce card? Will I notice any difference watching online videos, etc.?

Hi,

Yes it should you a better picture - just being able to use the DVI port to your LCD will help. If you do install it, don't forget to visit Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies for the latest drivers.

320 GB hard drive
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs
16x DVD -/+ RW drive
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS
No sound card and floppy.

I got a good deal on this, and up grade the video card by my self after I got them. I have my eyes on MSI geforce 8600 gts oc. The problem that I fond out (I did not think this when I bought the pc) is power supply is only 300w. MSI 8600 need minimum of 350w.

Then I look around for other 8600 that only need 300w psu. I found this Leadtek has one:
http://www.leadtek.com/eng/3d_graphic/specification.asp?pronameid=338&lineid=1&act=2

“A minimum recommended 300W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 20A).” I look the label on my power supply:
Output : 300W +/- 12V / 18A
I am not very good at electricity, anyone know what is this mean?
Is this will work or not?
Can I still get the MSI knowing the recommendation is 350w? I don’t want to change the psu, yet. I just got this last week.

I am several states away and do not want to mail my PC back. I had some guys I trust in Idaho build me a PC. The motherboard does not have on board video which is fine because I bought a 8600 GT from NewEgg for $60.00.

Installing Vista was a breeze. Then I tried to run many of my old games. They are more beautiful than they have ever been, for about 2 min, tops. Then the BSOD, which at the bottom is crunching away on something about a dump (it goes very fast).

Here is what is inside...

ASUS P5K Intel P35 Motherboard
Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66Ghz 1333M
(x2) Men DDR2 Crucial 2B Crucial 2GB Kit DR2 6400

I know the Ram is good. Heck, the place I had build the PC runs a thorough check on the system after the build. So I know the breakdown has to be somewhere in the system or the Card.

I have Vista Service Pack 1 (32 bit). Since this started I have updated the drivers, upgraded to the latest version of Direct X, and even updated my BIOS (it was a year behind). I still get this problem.

When searching the internet I can find similar problems, but they are all from 2006-2007.

Anyone have any current advice? I am at work now, but I might beable to go home and upload the appropriate dump files and whatnot if you tell me how and what you need.

Thank you for your support,

Dispite the card passing every game i play on 'can you run it?' and the games itself recomending high settings i am experience a strange problem, Playing games such as 'Lord of the rings online' I log in and experience a smooth lag free zone and all the graphic updates on the High settings. Then, after five minuntes of playing i experience a huge lag burst which causes the character and the surroundings to be almost like a slide of frozen pictures when moving. Later on it will clear for about five minuntes and return to how it should be running, and then return to the lag. The same happens on the
game 'World of Warcraft' which i never did lag on with my old Radion X300 graphics card. However now like on LOTRO i have small none lag moments and then a burst of freezing, skipping and lagging moments which last for a very long time. Can you help me? I recently bought a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB PCIe w/DVI/TV-OUT. Everything was fine for a while then when i was playing Bioshock my computer locked up. This happened 2 or 3 times over the course of a week.
Then i got the blue screen of death but it flashed by so quickly that i could not read the error. Every time the computer reboots i have to go to safe mode.
I reformatted my computer and now every time i try to install the driver it craps out again. I go back to safe mode and uninstall the driver and the computer will now boot normally.
I tried the driver off of the CD and 2 drivers from Nvidia's website. Noting seems to work and i am extremely frustrated.

Hey!

Today, I experienced an issue with what seems to be my GPU's drivers.

It occured out of the blue, with no manual software or hardware changes or updates.
I suppose automatic software updates could have occured though.

Whenever I launch a graphics-intensive game, I get about a half a minute of game time,
before it gets messed up. I get wierd textures superimposed all over the screen, either
arbitrary mess like in the attached screenshot, or partly transparent textures from a
completely different part of the game. In the background though, the game will run normally, so any movements still occur and I hear the sound effects.

Mostly I must exit the game with the Task Manager, but sometimes I get an error message.

It says the graphic card drivers are not responding, and that my nv4_disp screen driver is
not functioning properly.

It seems I can run DVDs just fine, browse the net, or do pretty much anything else without
any issues. It also seems that the temperature in the GPU is about normal, even when playing.

I tried to uninstall the drivers, clean the disk with Driver Sweeper, and then re-install
the latest drivers with Anti-Virus disabled, but I get the same result.

Any suggestions as to what is wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated!

with my motherboard if my old 6600 gt was compatible? i dont know what motherboard i have. yes? no?

A:can i assume that a geforce 8600 gt will be compatible...

No, you cannot make that assumption. The 8600 is a PCI-E card while the 6600GT comes in both PCI-E and AGP. You will need to know what kind of graphics card controller your motherboard has, PCI-E x16 or AGP 8x/4x.

You can find out what motherboard model you have by bringing up the Start > Run box and typing "dxdiag" without the quotes and hit Enter.

Hi,
First off i'm really no good at anything like this so don't expect me to know all the computer jargon etc.

I just recently bought a GeForce 8600 GT PCI-E when I inserted it into my computer

I've been reading around other threads and the specs for this computer should be able to comfortably run the GeForce 8600 and i'm completely stumped after spending a few hours fiddling. The computer runs fine on the old graphics card.

If you need any information about the computer etc. please ask and i'll try to help all though don't count on me

EDIT: SO after looking at this website and wiki pretty much 8800 is the winner with 8600 being ok for gaming. wee i guess i'm keeping the HP

NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Integrated Graphics GPU / ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
vs
NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT - hp

Aside from work and internet browsing i want to play computer games on this new comp.
So i went to the Hp/Dell websites and found that:

The dell has a GeForce 6150 Le or.... ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
while Hp has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.

Which one is better to run games on?
Should i consider other factors.. such as chip speed? ram... etc?

Hi guys, i installed Windows 7 few days ago on my notebook, ACER ASPIRE 5920 G

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.0 Ghz
2 gb DDR2
Nvidia GeForce 8600 M GT 512 mgb (up to 1028 mgb)

At first, I installed old drivers for Nvidia, they were working OK but they are for Vista, and I noticed in Performance Test that Graphics scored 3.8 which is much lower than I had before...

Than I visited ACER support, found Nvidia 8600 GT drivers for Acer Aspire 5920 g for WINDOWS 7... And installed it... My performance test on graphics now shows 4.8 and gaming graphics is 5.9 BUT...

THere is some kind of blinking on the screen.... some lines appear for a split of a second, every few mins (more less)

Hows possible that win 7 drivers are having problems with Win 7, and Vista drivers are ok with WIN 7????

Also, I reinstalled Vista drivers, there was no blinking or anything similar! ?

Can anyone help me please?
And, how much worse my graphic card will work with Vista drivers on WIN 7? Should I maybe leave it with old drivers?

P.S.
It doesnt blink when i play a movie or play a game...

Thanx!!!

I just put a second monitor on my GeForce 8600 GT. One via DVI and one is VGA. I found the NVIDIA Control Panel and checked the "Multiple display" setting. If I set it to "As one large horizontal desktop" it almost works like what I want, except it acts as one monitor. I normally use "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" at work, which is how I want it. Is this possible to do? The current setting seems useless, as it extends my taskbar too as well as games across two monitors.

A:Dual screen issue with GeForce 8600 GT

You should be able to use DualView. It says configured independently but that's just in case resolutions are dramatically different. If you have two very similar or identical monitors you just set them up the same in DualView and arrange the crossover to be compatible with your setup (horizontal in this case). The taskbar will go on whichever monitor you designate as the primary and you'll have to use a thirdparty program like MultiMon Taskbar to extend a working taskbar to the other monitor if needed.

I have the GeForce 8600 GT, and I have been noticing a problem with my graphics-heavy games.

Every ten minutes or so, the frame rate will slow down to something pitiful like 2fps, and I'll have to stop playing - a tough task in online games. It usually lasts for anywhere from five to ten minutes, and will then, with just as little warning, resume at full speed.

I have only been able to pin this on the graphics card, as I don't see it happening in any other instances than graphics heavy games. If it were consistent to a certain game, all the all the time, or if the effects were fixed by moderating graphics options, I would not be confused.

The thing is that it is not consistent. It happens on multiple games, and it happens on older games that my computer should run flawlessly, that lesser cards and rigs have run perfectly. I have completely undercut the game's performance settings to see if less work on the card will equal more performance, but there has been no change. It still continues to sporadically crater, and I am completely bewildered as to why or how to fix this problem. The game will work fine half the time, then work terribly the other half. It seems to me that if it were a problem with the games being too labour intensive for the card, it would be consistently occurring from the moment the game is loaded, not intermittent and without being context-sensitive to graphics-heavy situations such as smoke, etc.

It looks in the screenshot that you have a laptop not a Desktop PC as it is showing a power cable unplugged icon?

You can't just change the display adapter to an Nvidia 8600, the Nvidia 8600 is a specific dedicated graphics card for desktop PC's.

Hi,

I was wondering if this was possible?

I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600 gt card in my PC, I noticed my tv in the bedroom, Akura APL 2666 FD, was a Full HD with a 1900 x 1200 resolution and as it had a VGA port I bought a cable to try my PC out on it thinking it'd be better than the 19 inch 1280 x 1024 I use at the moment.

the best I could get it working at was about 1600 x 1200 ish (I can't remember now as I put the TV back in the room for the moment).

I found any rate above 60 hz didn't work and the closest resolution to the 1900 x 1200 was about 1945 x 1200 which also didn't work.

I'm using Windows 7 and it seems to pick up the TV up as a generic monitor, is there any way I can get a better driver for the TV so I can use the 1900 x 1200 at 60hz or do I need to just stick with the 1600 resolution?

thanks for your help ,

Welcome to the forums Wathne,
Its rather unusual that nvidia drivers fail to install, can you check this for me, click start and type in the search bar "dxdiag" and hit enter, does your graphics card show in there under the display tab? and secondly, can you verify that you have windows vista 64 bit, do this by right clicking computer and clicking on properties. heres a few pics to help you out.

It is very impudent when m... Read more

hi, just got a new cpu

windows XP, quad core Q6600, 4gig ram, nvidia geforce 8600 gt. if you need more info, the full description is in the link

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/INTEL-QUAD-CORE-Q6600-8600GT-GRAPHICS-4GB-RAM-500GB-%20HDD_W0QQitemZ350008704916QQihZ022QQcategoryZ111445QQtcZphoto<br%20/>QQcmdZViewItem

problem is that when installing the 8600 gt, it just doesnt install

1. insert cd
2. autorun window: install display driver
3. restart, as prompted to complete installation
4. when cpu restarts the hardware is not installed, the cpu still says that the hardware is not connected, code 10 error

i tried the latest nvidia driver, the one released on 19/dec, but that didnt help, same problem occured, as in after the restart the hardware still wasnt installed

Code 10 error

so any ideas???

I bought some hardware yesterday, and with the help of a friend we managed to build the computer in a few hours. Yet when I tried to power on the computer, I got no display, just the monitor's OSD telling 'No Signal'.

After taking the card off and reseating it in the PCI-Express x16 slot several times (I tried both slots in my motherboard), I'm coming to the conclusion that my card might be a goner...

While it doesn't cost that much to buy a new card (and I'll might use the warrant I have to get a new one), I'd like to consult the people here for some help beforehand.

What surprised us was the fact that there were no place for a power cord on the card so I just guess it gets its power from the motherboard.

*sigh* And here I thought I could finally say goodbye to the 10fps days of WoW...

And no, I can't think this is a power issue as I have a 690W power supply and currently there is only the graphics card and motherboard connected to the PSU.

Here are the product info links for my motherboard and graphics card:

Graphics card: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2604

EDIT: Solved a while ago, it was just me who forgot to tell the news, even though I promised to tell you firsthand when an update is necessary. I want to say I'm happy for all the help I got here

Hello,

I am thinking of getting a new graphics card for x-mas. I currently have a Geforce 8600 GT and i was looking at this GT 220.

Which is better? i think the 220 is but i just wanted some expert confirmation.

GT 220: http://www.siliconmadness.com/2009/07/nvidia-geforce-g-210-and-gt-220.html (scroll down past the 210)

8600 GT: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html (The right Column)

A:NVIDIA GT 220 VS Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

Why bother? If you want to upgrade from an 8600GT - you need to buy a card that has a noticable difference.

For example... the 9500/9400GTs are also pretty much re-badged 8600s. Think of the 220 as a smaller and cheaper to make version of the 8600GT with blu-ray decoding abilities. Its more like a bit better version of the 8600GTs.... that costs $65~95.

An ATI 4670 is about $60~95. Heres a nice one at $80: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161287&cm_re=4670-_-14-161-287-_-Product

But for real big speed bumps - look at ATI 4800s/5700s or at least a GTX 260... or even the GT250 (which is a 9800GT which is a 8800GT - UGH! )
These cards are about $ 120~200.

Your power supply will also be important too. Do you know your brand and model number?

Also your computers own performance.

Hello again all,

As I was messing around at hp.com, I have found many various customizable laptops that I found online. However, it all boils down to the graphics card. I have a choice between 6150, 7200, and 7400. Now which one should I chose and how different are the performance between each card? I need help asap as college is starting soon and I want to get one as soon as possible.

A:Geforce Go 6150 or Geforce Go 7200 or Geforce Go 7400

The 7400 is the best option, since it's fastest, but you may not need a faster video card if you don't do activities that require a fast video card. This link may be helpful.

Current Setup : We have 5 PC models in the field. I have a base image / drive for each model. Imaging done via hard drive cloner.
Solution wanted: I want to be able to have one base image / drive for all machines. The problem I keep running into is drivers. I want to have one drive that I can clone and pop it into any one of those 5 models and it will pick up the correct drivers and
work right out of the gate.
We have to update our image every so often and with having to update for 5 different PC's it becomes quite time consuming. Having one master drive would be much more efficient.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

i know this wouldn't be the best place to paste this but i hope you can help. I want to buy a new laptop with i3 but i learnt some have ultra low voltage 330um(1.2ghz) which gives low clock speed instead of 330M and others which give better clock speed(over 2ghz). Is the low voltage ones for mobiles only?

A:i3 models confusing

Look at this link. Apparently, the 330 UM and the 330 M are both mobile.

They differ in clock speed, maximum TDP, acceptable memory, and graphics.

Hello everyone, I'm doing some research trying to find out: what other network models exist or have been in existence besides the OSI model and the TCP/IP protocol suite?
So far its been a confusing process because I've been mixing up articles on protocols themselves and the articles on the network models I'm looking for so far I've found:
X.25
Cisco's 3 Layered Model
Hierarchical internetworking model
Can you guys please help me get in the right direction by identifying the network models other than OSI and TCP/IP that you know of? Your help would be very much appreciated

If I get a lenovo T61 with windows 7 32 bit can it can I upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit? Are all lenovo T61 think pads wireless?

A:Are all T61 models equal

All T61 machines are 64 bit and can run a 64-bit OS.  There is no such thing as 32 bit -> 64-bit upgrade.  It needs a fresh install.  The same license is good for both, but you would need recovery disks.  T61 machines are not all the same:  14.1: tall-screen (4:3), 14.1" wide-screen and 15.4" wide screen.  There are difficulties in getting a fresh win 7 install working, related to system update.  Microsoft has not paid much attention to windows 7.

Am I right? But any case - has anyone experience in upgrade of this notebooks? Maybe after warranty ends? Can I upgrade it with ssd? M.2 SSD or SSD instead of DVD drive? Can I receive an official answer or download an official document, that can say me - is there are an empty M.2 slot exists or not? For sure... Thx.
