Cannot access Microsoft Security Updates API developer tab

Q: Cannot access Microsoft Security Updates API developer tab

Dear Sirs,
I wanted to get more info about the Microsoft Security Updates API, so I'm having a look at the Guidance tab on this page https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/
When I click on the "developer" tab I get redirected to the Sign In page - however, upon selecting my profile, I get redirected back to the Guidance tab on Security Updates page https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/. and
I am stuck in this loop. This happens both with the old and the new Sign In experience. No way to access the developer info.
What can I do?
Thank you,
Marco

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello again,

I found out that these extensions are supposed to make it where I can export my access databases as .exe files. This would be great, since then I could just have a .exe for ones in the office to run, so that no one could edit forms, tables, etc.

Now, I googled it, and got this site. I can't seem to find where to actually download it however.

Is this a good fix for what I am wanting to do? This way, everyone in the office wouldn't have to have access, they could just run the .exe, and that would allow them to use the forms just as they would if they had the database itself.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all,
I am having an issue accessing the Developer API access page within the Microsoft Security Response Center website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/msrc). When I click on Customer Guidance > Developer API access, or navigate to https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/developer,
my browser first asks me to sign in and click which account I would like to use. I click my desired account, and it briefly redirects to the Microsoft Developer API Access page, but then after a split-second it redirects me back to the sign-in page. Is it
a requirement to have a specific type of email associated with the Microsoft account in order to get past this?

Thank you for your help!

Hey everybody

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but just can't seem to get it to work right.

I have the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which has a packaging wizard, that is used to package up a Access database and include a runtime environment, so users without access on their computer can use a database.

I have access on the computer in my office, so I take the file I want to package, and run the wizard, creating a setup file for the database and runtime. Now, I go over to the server, run the setup program, and have it installed on the server.

I can run the database on the server fine. I open it up, it runs in runtime mode, just as the package wizard said it should, and I can do whatever I want. The problem I am having is, I try to create a share, so that I can share this program with users on the network.

When I do this, it just doesn't work right. It is saying that it can't find the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ifg_agent_database\ifg_agents_modified_10_13_05.mdb"

Any ideas on what is going on?

This is an inconvenient delay, not anything serious. Running Windows 7, if it makes a difference.

Issue: Microsoft Security Essentials auto-updates block Microsoft Updates until MSE is finished.

Description: I have Microsoft Update (or Windows Update, whichever it's known as in 7) set to automatically check for updates but not download or install without my approval. I do this so I can review what's being updated, (I'm a little wary of Microsoft putting an anti-piracy app in as a "critical" update in the last year or two). Anyways, when I boot up the computer, it checks for updates and alerts me of them.

However, Microsoft Security Essentials also auto-checks for updates upon boot, and if it has an update it will automatically being downloading and installing it in the background. Which is all well and good, except whenever that's happening it causes MU to "fail" updates until it's done updating. Thus, I have to remember to wait until the MSE update is done, then run the MU update.

Question: MSE definition updates are included under "Optional" updates in MU, is there a way to make MSE stop updating independent of MU so I can queue all the updates together? I feel like this would be the easiest way to prevent this annoyance. I don't see an option, and I'd rather put up with this annoyance if the only solution is to put all updates back into Microsoft's hands completely.

A:Microsoft Security Essentials updates blocking other windows updates

My understanding of MSE is it will check several times during the to make it has the latest updates. Most GOOD VA programs will do this as there are several releases daily for AV definitions. This is the only way you and your machine will be aware of these releases.

When some of these attacks happen, a definition is released, but as the infection is refined, the the definition must also be refined and/or improved. I use F-Prot on my machines, but I install MSE on the kids and grand kids machines. I have seen as many as 12 releases in one day from F-Prot, this is what is call" being on top of things".

So I would not want to rely on ME being the one to check several times daily on all of my machines to see if a new release has been made.

We use a third-party Microsoft patch management system, unfortunately we have to approve all patches manually. It has become a monotonous task to jump on the security bulletin and manually "take-note" of all of the updates released (KB numbers)
to mitigate that vulnerability. After I take note of all of them, I have to jump on the "third-party Microsoft patch management system" and approve every patch (KB #) associated with that Bulletin.
I am wondering if there is an easier way to get a list of all of the new Microsoft patches released just for a specific Microsoft Security Bulletin. My current method is just sifting through the Bulletin and copying/pasting every KB number I find that is
designed to patch the vulnerability.
I would assume there is somewhere I can go or a tool I can utilize which would allow me to get the list of all of the KB numbers that need to be approved.
Or Am I out of luck (And just have to sift through the Bulletin to collect the associated KBs)?

I appreciate any and all suggestions/advice/ridicule.

Hi Huck,
In my humble opinion yes.
Most people became infected in 3 ways.
They open a message attachment
Download what they think is a safe program
or visit an infected site.

Either way the code is injected into your comp, partially due to the lack of dilligence of the user,
me included i was multi-tasking at the time. but in my defence it was none of the above

Now there looking for other ways that are not so user reliant, ie OS orientated and the patches that MS are issuing are to stop these.

Welcome to TSG....

If your car has to be upgraded by the manufacturer of the car you get them, well it is the same thing from Microsoft they are the owners of the operating system and they say that the upgrades should be downloaded.

Enough of what Microsoft wants since it is your computer but still Microsoft's OS I really think that yes you should install al of the updates including service pack 2 these will help keep your system secure and also protect against infections, make the internet connection more dependable and a lot of other things. Ir-regardless of what others say these updates are a necessary thing and really should be done.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

I've used Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) for years. It normally updates itself regularly however within the past 30 days it seems to update itself between 4 to 9 times daily. What's going on with this new update behavior?

When I open Update History it shows a slew (up to 9 separate ones) of MSE "optional" updates daily (which I guess become Important Updates by design since I chose to install MSE). I only have "check for updates but let me chose whether to download and install" selected and I only install Important Updates. Each MSE Update is labeled KB2310138 but each does have a unique definition number after it. Each downloads and installs itself automatically even though they are labeled "Optional". Why so many daily and why has this just begun after all these years of seeing maybe 1 per day?

Howdy,

I have been putting off downloading IE-8. I have read that many people are having all kinds of problems with it.
I am wondering though if I am compromising my computers security by not doing so.
I currently have XP Home, IE-7, SP-3.

One of my questions is will Microsoft still have security downloads available for IE-7 or will all security updates from now on pertain only to IE-8 ?

I have my computer set to receive automatic priority downloads but there has not been any since 4-25-09.

When I check the download site all I see is IE-8 ready for me to download. Which begs another question. Why did IE-8 not download automatically ? (I am glad it didn't, just curious)

Thanks for your time.

Usually larger downloads will notify you but not actually download. That was true of SP3. IE8 is supposed to be more secure. I was using an ISP branded version of IE6 and it was getting awfully buggy. My ISP isn't upgrading so I upgraded to IE8 last week and ditched the branded browser. My computer seems to be browsing faster and no more bugs. So far so good.

Hi there,

I recently reinstalled XP media center edition after realizing that windows vista was just too much of a headache to work with on my originally Xp MC computer. For some time, things have been great, until just recently when I tried to access the microsoft update website to download a simple driver for my 360 controller. I got as far as a screen that said, "your download should begin shortly" or something like that, then the link went dead; in Google chrome, it said it was a broken link, in firefox and IE, it claimed it couldn't display the webpage, like there was no internet. I have access to virtually every website EXCEPT ANY microsoft page that offers downloads for my comp. I chose not to get SP 3 yet because I wanted to continue using Style XP, which I heard didn't work on SP3. Either way, automatic updates worked for some time and I didn't realize till this incident that they had stopped. Although I suspect it might be because I don't have a verified product, I tried an upgrade install with my verified product key and as it was loading, it said a file was missing (if you need the file name, I can try again later and let you know). I'm most worried that it could be a virus that's somehow messing up my computer's access to microsoft. My absolute last resort would end up being a clean install of the whole system again, which I'd like to avoid at all costs. Alright

Basically I've been having a hard time of late trying to install updates on my laptop. The security updates for Office are below. I've tried numerous times to install them when I've restarted the machine or just when I'm first logging on and all that happens is it gets to a certain amount and just stops. I've tried manually downloading the updates, using the FixIt on the Microsoft website and countless other things I've read in various places.

Security Updates for Microsoft Office 2007 system (KB2553089)
Security Updates for Microsoft Office 2007 system (KB2553090)
Security Updates for Microsoft Office 2007 system (KB2584063)
Security Updates for Microsoft Office 2007 system (KB2553074)

I decided to also try and uninstall my Office 2007 however the uninstall never finishes and when I try and repair it through add/remove programs when I click Change nothing ever appears.

Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

I have a requirement to be able to enter a KB (Article) number and systematically retrieve the supporting details as per 'https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/security-guidance' Security Updates report e.g. Name, Date, Severity, Impact etc.
Does the MS Api support this something like this?

Kind regards

Today I noticed that I could not access the Internet on my Toshiba laptop. It is not the computer I use everyday, so I did not need to get on the 'Net. The last thing I remember doing was Using the Shutdown and install updates command.

To remedy I had to use a Restore point. I used the one for May before the updates. Now there is no problem.

I use Chrome exclusively.

Anything to be worried about in future updates?

Daniel

A:Last Microsoft updates prevented access to 'Net

Install the updates a couple at a time, you may find the culprit if it is an update that caused the problem. It may have been something else that you were doing that caused the problem.

Hi,

I recently reformatted my PC to factory settings meaning I'm now back with Service Pack 1 and IE6 and since then I've been unable to connect to any Microsoft websites for updates and also can't connect to the Microsoft authorisation link to activate my newly installed Microsoft Word. Any .exe Microsoft download links which I've found posted on other websites do not work for me either.

I've performed scans with Spybot Search and Destroy and each time it brings up the following items:

Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled
Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.AntiVirusOverride
Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.SP2Update
Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallOverride

However each time I remove these and reboot they keep returning and I'm still unable to connect to the Microsoft website for updates. I've also tried restarting the services via Administrative Tools>Services but this hasn't helped either. Hope someone will be able to help me with this.

Many thanks.

A:Can't access Microsoft websites or updates

are you able to get onto any websites at all? You might need to install the device driver for your Network Interface Card. You can find this file on another system from the manufacturers website of your computer. Save the file to a disk, CD, Flash drive and install it on formatted machine.
