I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A couple of days ago my laptop decided not to charge.  I keep it in one spot and haven't unplugged it for a few months, and it's run fine.  I was busy with work so I wasn't able to give this the attention it needed before all the power drained. The hardware is 100% stock; I have not gotten a new battery or new charger.  I have made sure that the outlet I'm using functions.  Since it's used so little/gently, physical damage seems extremely unlikely. Now whenever I try to plug it in and turn it on, no lights or anything.  Occasionally a light will flash and I can get it to try to boot, but it'll power down shortly after the System Recovery screen.  A couple nights ago I managed to get it to boot and could watch Netflix, but sometime later it powered down again. I removed the battery and plugged the charger back in, there was a flash of light and I made it as far as the System Recovery screen again, but to no avail.  Now trying to boot with or without battery, or plugging the charger in with or without battery, does nothing. I have attempted a hard reset as described here, still no lights and unable to power up to BIOS.

Would love feedback here.  Power lights are on, screen is completely black.I've read other reports of this in the 900 and other Yoga models but I've never seen the solution Lenovo support offered. They said it was hardware issue, a no power-on-start issue. This is a newish computer.  What do you think the issue could be?Pressing power button for 1 minute has no effect.Using One-key recovery, no effectF9, increasing brightness, has no effect. Black dead screen, I've tried all my tricks. Nothing has worked.

Hi all Having major issues you with my Yoga 910. It was working normally one day, then the next day when I powered it on and tried to use it, it would sort of freeze on a specific webpage (my online banking site, nothing sketchy). I would have no track pad movement, no keys worked, power buttons wouldn't do anything, but the screen stayed on and wasn't frozen- the cursor in a text field would continue to flash. I held the power button for ~20 seconds to reset, and tried again. Repeated this 3X total. Then, upon booting up again using the one key reset button next to the power button I tried to restore to a previous point. After clicking through the menus, it attempted to restore and restard. However, at this point, it would no longer boot up in to windows. It would say applying automatic repairs, then diagnosing problems, then a smalm black command prompt box flashes for just a moment. It then takes me to a blue screen saying it didn't boot up properly, restart or go do advanced options. I then tried reset functions, both keep files and full factory reset, but after only a second it says system couldn't reset and offers to shut down. I tried this several times, as well as running start up repair, and recovering to several previous points. Now when I try to recover to a previous point, it says "you must enable system protection on this drive." I tried every option offered in all of the advanced troubleshooting menus to no avail, so I powered off and went to... Read more

I haven't used my Ideapad U430 Touch much recently but it's not powering on. The screen doesn't come on. The GPU/CPU fan sometimes spins about 1/4 of a rotation, the power button light, the keyboard backlight, the side battery and HDD lights all just flash white every 5 seconds or so - continuously.  I've tried the various things people have recommended - unplugging battery, removing Power and pressing the power button 10 times with a second pause in between, then holding the power button for 30 or 60 seconds. No change. Any ideas? The above happens regardless of whether the battery is in or not. I've swapped out the RAM, no changes.

Just got a Yoga 700-11ISK. It's great. Love it. Want to know how I can charge it from a power bank. The battery life is good-not-great. I know it needs 20v. If I snagged a 24v power bank and used the USB C cable,  would I get a charge? Anyone have alternate suggestions? I'll solder together something totally unsafe if need be.

A:Yoga 700 - How do I charge it from a power bank?

I am getting some info from the Lenovo team on the USB Type C port if it supports audio, video or whatever application however seems to be that the Type C is just another USB port for portable devices such as external HDD.There have been discussions about charging the laptop via Type C however I don't think you can as its only suppose to charge via the AC port. Hello, My Lenovo Yoga 700-14ISK has stopped working altogether. It was charging and all of a sudden went out and has not turned on ever since. I have tried pressing the Lenovo button on the side and it will not boot up either. When plugged in, none of the lights will indicate that it is charging. I have removed the battery from the inside and plugged it in again and I still have no results. I have found somewhere that I should try removing the CMOS battery but my specific model does not have one, or at least I am not aware of one. It could also just be a connection. The model type is 80QD. If someone can help me with this issue or help me find the CMOS battery/connection that would be great. Thanks!

Didn't realize the laptop was unplugged and went completely dead sitting there for a month. Went to plug in to power up and nothing. Thought maybe cat chewed on charger cable and tested it and was only pulling 4v vs the 20v it's supposed to but tried new charger that Lenovo sent and still nothing. I've heard battery could be un-chargeable if left to completely die and sit for a while but still don't get why laptop won't boot up when plugged in.  Am I dealing with something else internal in addition to a dead battery?

Hello, just recently I'm a very happy owner of the yoga.I'm fine tuning the setup and tweaking all kind of things. With a different Lenovo I used in the past, I could use the power manager or the registry to specify a charge starting and ending point in percentages when hooking up the laptop to the main power. This was totally awesome to keep the battery healthy and keeping the Lenovo alive to the fullest. With the 720, I don't see the battery option anywhere. Things I tried are: -Registry edit-Installing system interface foundation-Installing power management from windows 7 or 8.1-Installing/reinstalling lenovo settings from windows store-Battery gauge tool install-Bios updates Unfortunately, they didn't work So my question is, has anyone set up the battery treshold on the Yoga 720. And how did you do it?Thanks for your answers!

Specs: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11.6" HD/Core i7-3689Y/4 GB/128 GB All is fine when the machine is on or in sleep mode. The problems start when it shuts down or goes to some deeper hibernation (whatever happens when the machine has been in sleep mode long enough). Then, the machine won't start up anymore, even if the power is connected. After some googling, we decided to try to disconnect the battery. This didn't help (and there was no BIOS update for this particular model) but while disassembling the machine we found out that when the front panel (power button + power light) motherboard connection was detached, the machine powered up. All was again fine until the machine shut down. So the machine can be jump-started by detaching the cable but either the front panel circuit or connection seems to be broken. Any ideas what to do? The following picture illustrates the issue: ?

Unfortunately my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Laptop has gone faulty just a month outside my two year warranty.  After being inspected this has come back as being customer fault as it is the centre pin in the power connector that has been bent that has caused the issue.  However Feel that this is a very poor design and that for an item at this price point that it is not fit for purpose.  Also when I was speaking to a work friend they had bought the same item only a few months before me and had the exact same fault.  I have since done done a small search and seen this same issue has been raised on a few forums over the last few years.   I was was hoping to get a view on how common this was and if you have been able to resolve.  If anyone else has had this issue please can you let me know and also how long you had the item before the issue began.  Many thanks

Hello World.   I'm not able to power up a Yoga Ideapad 15.  When I press the power button, its led starts blinking, in synchonicity with the power light indicator, making a short blink every almost 5 seconds.   I've dissasemblied it. Fan cooler tries to start, but suddenly stops. This issue repeats every 5 seconds, same time as the laptop blinks.  I've tried common steps (like keeping the power button pressed with no battery and no charger). So, if anyone has a possible solution, I'll appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!

My laptop is pretty new, about 1 year old. I usually unplug my laptop when I go to sleep, and tonight, when I tried turning it on, it didn't start. So I thought the battery had gone out, and I plugged it in, and yet it still didn't turn on. What I also noticed was that the front charge light also didn't turn on. I tried my laptop with my other gateway charger and still no use. I don't know what happened, but how do I fix this? Is there even an identifiable problem? I've looked at countless other posts, and did what they have told me, with taking out the battery and clicking the power button, such and such.

Just a heads-up: I bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad in 2013, so it's out of warranty. Proceed to read my problem..... I always get a black screen whenever I shut off my laptop and turn it back on again, which is why I lock my laptop instead. But when I DO lock it and get back on it the next morning, I encounter the Black screen of death and instead of my lockscreen immediately appearing like normal after I lock it and have left it overnight & try to get on it, I have to shut down my laptop and turn it back on because my laptop won't immedately take me to the lock screen so I can log into my computer.  Today (March 17, 2017), I had to shut down and turn on my laptop while pressing the rotation button button or the OneKey Recovery button (the button with a circle and a line going through it; I don't know exactly what it's called, but I think it's the recovery button OR the screen rotation button, on the right hand side of the computer: If anyone knows the name of this button, please let me know!)..I tried this 5 times and It wouldn't turn on. The 6th time pressing the Recovery button OR the screen rotation button on the right side of the laptop (whatever it's called), it did work and now I'm on my laptop typing like normal. But this Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13 only works when it wants to. Is there any proven fix to this hardware issue? I was told that it was a motherboad issue, but what's the real culprit? And is the motherboard what's actually giving me th... Read more

Hi,
I picked up this Alienware 5700 off ebay to hopefully refurbish for my son but I'm new at this and still learning and so this thing has me baffled. The laptop is in pristine condition but shows no signs of life. When I plug in the power supply the green light on the power supply goes from solid green to blinking rapidly to the point you can barely see it. To me that would mean a short somewhere right ? If so where ? Has anyone else ever had experience with something like this ? I just don't want to go buying a new battery for a laptop that maybe fried already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:No power, no lights but green light on power supply blinks rapidly

Remove the laptops battery and try the AC power only. If the green light does the same, it still could only be a bad AC adapter, or at worst, a shorted laptop motherboard

So I had my yoga 920 conk out on me at a VERY inopportune time, next month I go abroad to study. Yesterday I started my laptop and started some light browsing when it suddenly shut down. I tried starting it up again, when it came up with the dreaded blue screen saying 'failed to detect boot device' or something. Third boot try onwards, the laptop does not respond to charging, no lights come on, nothing, NADA. Worst part of it? This happened within 10 months of my purchase from USA. I have 54 days of my warranty remaining. I tried static discharges multiple times, no luck.Went to multiple service centers in Pune, India, but they refused to diagnose the issue saying that they do not service this model since it was not released in India. I'm ready to ship this laptop to the USA with my own expenses to have it fixed or replaced, but so far no customer service has been able to help me out.Any bright ideas/contacts?

I've had my Ideapad y510p for about 2 years and recently the charger stopped working.  At first it just needed to be re-plugged in, then it needed to be plugged it at weird angles and held up to charge, then it had to be in the exact right position, with no motion.  Then it just stopped charging.   From what I've read it sounds like this may be a problem with the port, not the charger, but I've tried using a charger that fits my computer but isn't the right voltage/wattage (or w/e) and it will charge for a time, then stop, then continue to charge if I plug it into a new socket. I tested it by taking out the battery and turning it on: with the inappropriate charger, it'll still work, with the old charger, it won't turn on.   As far as I can tell, there's no physical damage to the charger, though it's possible it might have been dropped or mishandled when traveling with it.  I know for a fact I've dropped my computer several times, but I've never had charging problems immediate after, and all those instances were a good while back.   So is it more likely that my computer is the problem, or just the charger?  I still have the warranty on my laptop; if that's the problem, can I get it fixed?

Hi,Today I received a package containing my brand new laptop, the Ideapad 510-15IKB. Full of excitement, I unboxed it and turned it on, tried to proceed with installing windows 10. The first reboot came, but the laptop stayed off. I noticed, then, that the led which should have been lit orange, near where the AC adapter plugs in, wasn't on (although the laptop was plugged in). I checked the cable and it does transmit the AC, so the problem is probably with the laptop. Does anyone know if there is any possibility of it being fixable without opening the laptop up myself? I've already contacted the dealer and I'll send it back to them, but I just wanted to first check if there may be anything worth trying by myself. I read that for some older (I think?) laptops, you could perform some sort of reset by pressing the on/off button for 4 seconds, with the battery and the AC adapter out of the laptop, but with this model, the battery can't be taken out, so...Thanks in advance for any response and sorry if my "briefing" was a bit too long lol. Cheers!Alex

Hello. I have had my Flex 5 for about a year now and it has run well up to this point, but yesterday evening I noticed that the battery was not charging while plugged in. I am using the AC adapter which originally came with the laptop. When plugged in, the battery status icon very rapidly (on the order of 1-2 seconds) cycles between "Plugged in, charging" and "Not plugged in," with the battery status light on the side of the computer blinking white accordingly, for about 1 minute before finally settling on "Not plugged in" with a blinking red battery status light. Unplugging and plugging the adapter back in repeats this cycle. This renders me unable to charge the laptop for any extended period. I am unsure what to do next as the battery is interior and not easily removable.

Came home, walked in and noticed my PC was off. monitor was on, speakers on, modem everything on as if the power had blinked out for a sec and my system had shutdown. I pressed the power button on the front and got nothing. i checked the power supply's own power on/off switch on the back and got nothing. no light that its on or anything. thought maybe it was the cable so i plugged it into my other pc and the cable works, so i'm thinking maybe the psu went bad or took a hit. Im guessing i just need to replace it. How difficult is it to replace it by yourself. i've never done that before and do you think that its the psu at fault? I'm thinking that if there is not power on light, then something is wrong big with it. my heat temps stay down between 28C and 34C at the highest. Also, can i replace it with just any other 600w power supply or does it need to be a specific kind. company i bought it from online listed it as dual core certified 600w psu. no mention of 12v rail or anything else. i guess i can get that from them if they have it on file.

A:No power to Power Supply, no lights

Well sounds like your power supply took a power surge. Well to start with i would try a power supply. Now about replacing the power supply cheap is not the best way to go, learned from experience. Here is my recommendation: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
And for replacing a PSU not hard. If you need help removing it Post back i will walk you through step by step if need be.

I have an IdeaPad 500.  The A/C charger is "plugged in" and the icon says it is "charging" but there is no charge to the battery, which is now at 53% (it was 55% yesterday).   I have gone to the forum and done what they suggest (e.g. turned off the Conservation Mode).  Unlike most questions on the forum, my system says "charging" rather than "not charging".  And because it is an IdeaPad, I cannot remove the battery (at least not without opening up the case).  I am a bit worried this is a hardware/battery failure -- but I hope this forum might give me a software fix

Thanks in advance
