I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You have recently removed one or more virusus from this computer, but now a new one has appeared.

First, AOL is extremely slow to start when I click on the icon. Once I've signed on, after a time a new sign-on screen appears on top of what I'm doing. I cancel that one. Soon I see activity at the bottom of the screen (where ordinarily you see "Done" or "//http:/..." etc. The virus is doing its own AOL activity! Soon afterward AOL is canceled, as if I had canceled it.

Also, Microsoft XP suddenly announces they are having to increase my virtual memory. Paging size is currently at 384 Mb, and my RAM is 1.25 GB. This is happening more and more frequently.

I have again changed my AOL sign-on password, and I no longer permit it to use the password automatically (I have to enter it at each sign on).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I went into my User Accouts in the Control Panel. I deleted a User called Nathon. I created a new user account with Admin authority named Jack.
However, everytime that I start my computer from my morning bootup, the Signon Window has the deleted User, Nathon.
I have to type in Jack, for the new user, and I get into Jacks Account.

Why is Windows not remembering that I have deleted the USER, Nathon?

I have never had such a problem with any of my other windows computers.

After having done the update, I'm having two issues that are bugging me:

1. I cannot change the lock screen from the "cave by the shore" default nor bypass it (Brink is working on the bypass issue I believe)

2. If I go into netplwiz and uncheck the need for a password, the "Welcome" screen has the system default user picture, that drawing of a circle over an arch, not the picture I assigned to the account. With the need for a password, the picture on both the sign-in screen and "Welcome" screen is correct tho.

The lock screen issue I can live with since I normally don't use a password, but the default user picture is bugging me. I went into %ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures and replaced all the default pictures with ones the same name and size of the picture that I have for the account, but it still shows the default.

I've searched around for another place where the default picture is, but cannot find any, even with the search including hidden system files.

Anybody know where the system default user pictures are stored, other than in the User Account Pictures?

Hello TheSchaft,

Q1) I've added OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to be able to disable the lock screen again, but it doesn't do so at startup.

Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10
Q2) I'm not aware of way to stop this yet when you have netplwiz set to automatically sign in to an account at startup. The blue note box at the top of the tutorial below will show you the default locations for account pictures to help.

So I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my machine.

Before I had it set up so that I could log in with a password or fingerprint.

Now it seems my only options are (1) password only OR (2) password, PIN or fingerprint.

I don't want PIN as a sign in option. But I have to enable PIN via "Windows Hello" before enabling Fingerprint sign in.

And once I have fingerprint sign in enabled, if I remove the PIN I lose both PIN and fingerprint sign in options.

Any ideas how I can set up password and fingerprint as my only two sign in options?

Hey everyone

Every now and then my Windows 8.1 x64 shows the first sign-in sequence after a restart. I noticed it most recently happened after a normal Start->Power Options->Restart. I'm quite sure it has also happened after right clicking on start button (Control-X) and restarting from there, as well as from a custom shortcut I have for restart (shutdown.exe /r /t 00).

I had just finished installing IBM SPSS 22 for a class I'm taking, but I think this is unrelated.
It goes through the whole "Setting Up Your PC" and "Installing your apps" screens even though its perfectly fine and and all my data including app data is still there. See the attached file for an example of what was most noticeably shown.

With another incident, something similar to this happened but it actually reset some of my settings for things like MediaMonkey, Connectify Hotspot, GOM Player and VLC player. It was like they had been started for the first time ever with no license information or preferences like Always on Top.

Its not a matter of urgency but I keep worrying that one day it will actually mess with my system in a very annoying way.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I set up an account with You Tube but had to change my Gmail password to do so. Every since then, when I log on to my computer I get the message "Username and Password Do Not Match". My desktop is a Windows XP operating system and I have a network where I have a laptop with Windows 7. Both computers when I log on show this message. What do I need to do to correct this so I no longer get that message?

Thank you for your help.

A:Solved: Sign In Message

A Youtube/Google password has no direct impact with Windows XP so the message you are getting is likely from something loading on startup such as Google Calendar: http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955 or Google Drive: http://support.google.com/drive/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2374983
I would expect there to be a title bar on the message indicating where the message is coming from, then you just need to enter your new Google password into that app; check your system tray for Google programs.

I have been having a strange, on-going problem of late...Occasionally, when asked to enter my email in some website sign-up (or log on to existing account) pages, I get a message saying I need to enter a "valid email". Besides triple checking for typos, I've tried everything else I can think of to solve it, like turning off the firewall, erasing the cookies, using different email addresses (my primary is gmail, secondary - yahoo), switching browsers (Chrome, Firefox) and computers (primary is PC w/ Windows XP, secondary is Mac OS) and nothing seems to work. This problem appears to be random in terms of the websites that do it. I contacted one of the companies to see if the problem was on their end, gave them my email and password, and they had no problems logging me in, so I'm at a loss at this point....

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Windows Fixit, num lock fix 50087, kb 154529

Since installing this fix, which did'nt work, I keep getting the popup error message 'LogonUI.exe (this varies) -Bad Image, then text 'C:\PROGRA-1\google\GOOGLE-2\GOEC62-1.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.' Before installing it said setting a restore point, trying to restore there are no restore points. How is this, thought the system (Vista home premium) automatically set restore points. This popup is messing the system up bigtime, almost impossible to load programs etc. as it constantly pops up and will not cancel.
Any clues on how I might get rid of this problem? Unable to find help on Microsoft sites.

Hi there,

For some reason I can't figure out the Store does not allow me to sign-in. I'm using a local account btw, not a MS account, but issue exists either way.

I open the Store, open the charm bar and navigate to settings. I click on the "Your account" option and the sign-in button apears on screen. When I click it, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I have to close the screen to exit the page.

Furthermore, when I search for an app and click the "install" button for that perticular app, the Store crashes; closing down immediately.

I already ran sfc /scannow but no problems found. I also ran the wsreset.exe but also to no avail.
I tried switching to my MS account, same issue. So am now back on a local account.

It has to do something with the account or a policy that is active on my account I assume ?

Hello, I have a laptop running the latest public update for Windows 10. As I turned it on yesterday I got four different error messages for four processes which included IAStorIcon.exe, TOASTER.exe, and DropboxOEM.exe. The messages read as follows:
IAStorIcon.exe - Assert Failure
Expression: [mscorlib recursive resource lookup bug]
Description: Infinite recursion during resource lookup within mscorlib. This may be a bug in mscorlib, or potentially in certain extensibility points such as assembly resolve events or CultureInfo names. Resource name: Arg_ExternalException.
I get these messages and the computer won't let me do anything else, no matter which option I click on the messages the computer won't do anything else. I can move the mouse around and click on stuff but no programs open, the start menu doesn't open, Ctrl+Alt+Supr does nothing, right clicking does nothing. It basically only lets me move the mouse. I tried to boot into safe mode and the first time it gave me a blue screen of death with the stop code: CRITICAL PROCESS DIED. It loaded all the way up to 100% and then it stood there for half an hour, until I forcefully shutdown the computer. Next time I was able to boot into the blue screen that lets you use a restore point but the time of restore point was from after this problem started so it did nothing. What can I do and how can I do it? My computer is pretty much unusable after signing in so that complicates things a bit.

Hi there
some public wi-fi services require a sign on (even if free) -- for example in the UK in most Weatherspoon's pubs there is a free wi-fi service -- _the cloud_ I think it's called (the underscores are part of the name). You register once and then it works in almost every Weatherspoon's pub I've ever been in - if you can log on. (Weatherspoon's pubs while not the best do have on the whole the CHEAPEST beer in the UK and some actually have some good Guest Ales --rare for a Corporate type of chain whatever people think about that particular organisation -- probably learned more POLISH in one of those places than even on a trip to Poland !!!).

Now - especially on phones sometimes the logon message disappears quickly so you can't get connected to the wi-fi even though the phone says "Connected". -- The same happens on a laptop.

Is there anyway to get the logon screen back again without re-booting or disconnecting from that wi-fi service or re-booting a phone.

This only seems to happen on PC's with IE10 and above. (Happens on W7 and W8 laptops) and phones where the logon notification can disappear so fast you miss it.

A:Public Wifi services - how to get logon message to sign on

My younger brother and I share a computer. It is Windows 10 Pro. I was letting him use it while i was asleep. All I know is that he was playing his video games. Anyways, he left the house to go hang out somewhere and i wake up to see that when i turn on the computer, only his account shows at the sign-in screen. Meanwhile, there are THREE accounts on this computer. My account, His account, and a local that my other siblings use sometimes. I restarted and even shut down my computer about 4 times. I waited until he came back and logged on his account to check what was wrong, and I see that my account is still there with all my files and docs. The other local account is there too. I log out to see if my User name is there but it isn't. I tried to see if my account was deactivated using these methods but none of them worked. I've looked on Microsoft's forums but all I found was how to activate the built-in administrator account. Please do your best to help!! I have important work to do on my account but i can't access it.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Recently I started getting an error message on every boot: "There was a problem that caused parts of the windows live id sign-in assistant to be disabled." I have tried to install the correct version 6.5 for Windows 7 according to this Microsoft website. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?i...) When I try to install this version, I get an error message telling me that a newer version is already installed. I have tried to uninstall the newer version (maybe incorrect version 7.0 for XP ) but there is absolutely no entry in the Control Panel's "Programs and Features" for me to uninstall the Microsoft windows live id sign-in assistant. I have checked with my Revo Uninstaller Pro software and likewise there is no entry to remove the assistant. I have checked services.msc and again that service does not show up as being there. I ran MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.RNP.Run which screwed things up so that I had to reinstall Windows Live Mail but am still unable to install version 6.5 "because of the newer version" being present. I am not a newbie but I am stumped. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

I Just had a log in error. I have a Dell Precision 7710 mobile work station with the Anniversary Update. I turned on the machine and tried to log in and got:

We can't sign into your account
This problem can often be fixed by signing out of your account, then signing back in. If you don't sign out now, any files that you create or changes that you make will be lost.

Logging out and restarting did not work. I shut it down, undocked (it is a Thunderbolt Cable Dock), and then restarted. Luckily it was back to normal log in. I shut down docked, and booted and it was normal log in again.
Not sure what happened. Hope the issue does not come back.

I read online this happened to others, but cannot find a cause or fix (other than restarting) and wondering if anyone knows why this happened.

AOL customer service is absolutely useless when I call them about this. Most of them actually hung up on me repeatedly. Every browser I open up, including the one on my phone, gives me this message every time I try to sign up for AOL/Aim. It is highly frustrating and it just happened out of nowhere. Is there any solution for this? I ran an anti virus scan and it removed one threat and I restarted my computer and went back on and the error message still pops up. I cleared my cache/history, everything, and it's still the same. No idea what else to do. I was told to go to a technician by customer service but I really do not want to have to pay money for this joke. Help. I need this account for a job. Went on incognito mode too and that did not help. And there is also no such email as [email protected]. I messaged it from another AOL account (cannot use that one because it has a highly inappropriate name) so that did not help either. The message is:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I recently upgraded from Vista to 7 pretty uneventfully. Everything is pretty much working as before except for one, relatively minor but annoying issue. I have IE, currently IE8, set to go to my.msn.com as my home page. Before the upgrade, it would automatically sign me in, so I would see my customized home page. Since the upgrade I am taken to a generic page. I have to click the Sign In link on the upper right, and then the sign in button on the Welcome to Windows Live. My password is saved, so I don't have to fill in anything. I don't sign out when I am done, I just close the browser window as I always used to do. However, even if I immediately reopen the browser window, I will be signed out again.

Any thoughts on how to stay logged in as I used to do with Vista, and XP before that?

Thanks for the help.

When I turn pc on, within last week it  goes to a page where address is http:// l.yimg.com/rq/Darla/2-7-5/html/r-sf.html.When that page comes up, a notice also comes up says page cannot be displayed . From there I hit homepage icon and it goes directly  there with no other problems. This has been happening for last week or so.Any ideas what or why? Paul

Sounds like malware.  Download & install Malwarebytes and do a scan with it.

Trying to edit a .SAV by converting and opening it's xml, everything went fine and i modify the parts that needs to be done, so i convert the xml back to the .SAV type of file, but when i'm about to further editing (so i re-convert the .SAV file back to xml) i found out that the language or something is very different, i'm very new at modding a xml file so i don't know what to do. all the converting is done by using a cmd and an application that utilize on converting .SAV format to XML which i can edit with note editor.
here's a picture of first convert and second convert.

I seem to be having something of a problem with MSN messenger right now. Whenever I try and sign in it tries for about 60 seconds or so but then just comes up with an error message that reads-
We are unable to sign you in to Windows Live Messenger, possibly because of a problem with the service or your internet connection. Please make sure you are connected to the internet.

The error code is 81000306.
Can anybody help me out here?...

A:Can't Sign In To MSN

Hi. . .

I found error 0x81000306 scattered all over the net going back to early/mid 2007. The one more-common-than-others fix was the following:
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | RIGHT-click on cmd.exe above under programs | select Run as Administrator - then type & hit enter -

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
Some MS TechNet say it is intermittent MS problem w/servers while others are saying it has to do with driver updates for your wifi or ethernet NIC.

Regards. . .

Hello, new guy here. Maybe someone can help me with this.

There are two computers in my house, both are connected to the same wireless router and DSL modem, one via a LAN cable, the other with a wireless USB hub.

I have two AIM screen names. I can sign into AIM on both computers with my less frequently used screen name. I can sign into the wired computer using my primary screen name, but I cannot sign into the wirelessly connected computer using my primary screen name.

When I type in my username and password and hit enter, it says "Connecting...", then "Transferring..." then "Connection failed."

I have tried to fix the problem using aol live help and I have exhausted all options they have given me there, including:

-checking the clock settings
-restoring the internet explorer settings to default
-turning off the windows firewall and testing it
-emptying the browser cache
-uninstalling and reinstalling aim, I did that twice, I'm using version
-trying again later

Nothing has worked yet. Any ideas would be helpful.

A:can't sign into aim

Q: £ sign

Hi - I'm running Win 7 Pro on a Dell E5410 laptop.

Until quite recently I could insert the sign into files using the key combination Fn +Alt with characters 'jio' - which method was used to write this thread. This seemed to work in any document form e.g. doc or txt. It now no longer works in the doc format but does in others, so can be imported when needed quite easily. My question is - why does it no longer work in docs?
