I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been having trouble with my ATT internet for a year or more. The internet download speed frequently drops to almost nothing (.53 or 1.23 Mbps) where it should be about 19-22 Mbps. They've been out here troubleshooting the line , changing
modems, and telling me whatever falls out of their mouth. So today I was looking in the ATT settings and system info. There I came across the event log which is difficult for me to decipher, but I do know what hijacked means. I'm most concerned with my security
camera (Stem-services) and my iphone being compromised. Here are some of the log entries. maybe someone can help me understand if something is going on. Thanks

I am running Win7/Pro x64. My System Spec is in my Profile.

I do not have iTunes installed on my desktop. I do have an iPhone 5, a hand-me-down from my son.

Yesterday the phone needed to be charged. I attached it to a USB port. I was asked by the phone if I trusted my desktop. I said yes. I was told that there were no new images on the phone to import, a fact I already knew. I've encountered this dialog before. It seems to be part of the procrustean Apple way of computing.

What troubles me is that a process started about the time I plugged in the phone. At a rate of 5-10 files/sec the 'modified' date was changed on over 3,500 jpg files on my data drive. I've not analyzed the order in which they were processed but suspect that it was A-Z on the file names and also on folder names.

Could this behavior result from iTunes running its 'sync' process? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

If we have no Apple OS experts on this forum, does anyone know of an 'Apple forum' that is as respected as sevenforums is in the Windows world?

I just got the new iPhone 4S and I have a 3GS as my old phone with no way to transfer my contacts. I was told I could save a backup of my 3GS to itunes, then load the backup onto my 4S.

Well my 3GS won't backup, it keeps saying "iTunes could not backup the iphone because an error occurred" without any error code. I've wiped my old backup, I've cleared sync history. I'm using a PC with itunes with the latest itunes version 10.5.

What can I do to get my contacts over to the new phone?

Hi all, I recently brought a security camera (Wanscam JW0011 Outdoor)
Turns out it only has a 3 metre limit on the motion detection, I expected any movement within it's view (at least 20 metres) would trigger the motion sensor. But not the case.
So what I would like is a third party program with motion detection, which I'm guessing is more software based and will look at the video stream looking for movement (hopefully giving it a 10m range or so), compared to the JW0011 camera itself which doesn't require any connection to a PC so I'm guessing that's why the distance is so limited.
One problem may be there is no physical connection from the camera to the PC, only a wireless connection.
But there are some additional features I would like to keep, this currently can be done by the JW0011 with just the smartphone app, or with this PC software.
View live feed via smart phone
Instant alert to smart phone (or email) when motion is detected.
Save video, or photos for "xx" time when motion is detected, either direct to PC or VIA FTP to PC or drop box.
Does anyone know a program capable of all this?

A:Motion detection software

Have been doing some googling and have found one called "Ispy" I will download it shortly to test.

Every time I connect to my home network with iPhone 4 my whole network stops working. Windows 7 is not reporting any problems with connection, nor is my router. I have cable connection with my PC and wireless with my laptop, they both just stop working without any visible reason. Even the iphone i connect with wont work, but of course it says its connected and everything is ok.

I tought it was an iOS 5 problem, so I reinstalled it. It worked for an hour then its all back again. I even tried sharing my PC connection so that my iPhone is connected to PC and not directly to router. But that produced the same results.

My roomate's iphone 3gs with iOS5 works normally.

Any ideas? Thnx.

A:iPhone kills home network

Is your network slowing to a crawl, or really not working? Can you still ping the router from one of the computers?

I've seen a few people report that with the latest iOS update all their "stuff" is automatically uploaded to 'the cloud" and that has seriously limited any other use of their network. I believe that there is a setting telling the iPhone to not do the backup until further notice. If this turns out to be the issue you can let it do the uploading when no one is trying to network.

I have a wireless home netwerk using at&t 2wire. It uses WEP encryption. I have heard that the IPhone does not work with WEP and WPA/WPA2 should be used instead. I'd like to get some feedback from the experts on this forum as to whether this would make the IPhone usable on a home network and whether making this security change is a good idea. If the change to WPA is made, is there anything else required to make the IPhone work on the network, or will it then be automatic? Everything works fine right now on my home setup and I want to make sure I don't mess anything up by making changes. Please comment. Thanks very much in advance.

A:Wireless home network and IPhone

Well, WPA or WPA2 is far better than WEP in any case, so even if the iPhone works with WEP, I'd move up to real encryption anyway.

I have some questions about smartphone security, specifically the difference between the Android & iPhone platforms. My motivation is curiosity. I am not using this information to decide which phone to purchase (I use a Tracphone).

Reading several articles on various web sites, I get the impression of the following:
(1) Android is less secure than iPhone
(2) There is no known malware for iPhone

Are these statements true? Is there any hard data that documents malware for the different platforms?

Anti-malware software: There appears to be several products for the Android, but I cannot find any product for the iPhone. Is this discrepancy due to Apple's superior security technology?

I am not a Apple expert (because I think it sucks) but there is no malware for Apple, so they have no anti-malware programs. The reason is that is open source and all members who use it can fix any problems.

I've been trying to update my iPhone 4 from iOS 4.1 to the newest version but I've encountered problem after problem.

First when I tried to update it through iTunes it said 'it cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable at this time'.

Now when I connect my iPhone to my laptop it says 'iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again.'

So when I got to the control panel to uninstall iTunes it says 'the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your personnel for assistance.'

I've been looking for a solution for hours and cannot find anything, I tried one solution which involved Regedit but it didn't work.

I have a iPhone 4S and use the native calendar app to run my life.
I would like to integrate the events in my calendar app to display on the desktop (maybe as a gadget) of my computer. I use a Windows Seven Ultimate 64-bit SP1.
Using outlook didn't workout so good.. My events doubled up on my phone on the 2nd sync. Plus. At the time, I couldn't workout how to display the events on my desktop. Maybe it was because I didn't configure the gadget correctly.

Ideal software would be able to do..
- Show events on the current day on the desktop.
- Show up coming events within the next 7 days on the desktop.
- Update every time i sync my phone. (iTunes has the ability to sync certain things (such as contacts and calendars).

This alas, is a very well known and oft posted problem (www.whirlpool.com.au) and appears unresolvable!

Basically my Iphone - sitting on top of the router - will not consistantly connect AND maintain the connection.

If I keep at it over and over again it will eventually connect but then lose same in a matter of a few seconds.

As this NETGEAR modem also handles my wife's PC and a laptop without any problems, I have to believe it is in the iPhone settings that the problem exists!

OK, I have done the following:

1. Done a factory reset on the NETGEAR modem
2. Reset the iPhone to factory (Yuck!)
3. Reset over and over again the NETWORK SETTINGS on the iPhone
4. Set up "another" network with NETGEAR to see if the default one it finds is "faulty"
5. Pretty well done everything that has been suggested on the www.whirlpool forums where, as above, thias is a very common problem, all to no avail!

Everything points to a weak, poor or broken NETGEAER conection but the little connection ICON comes in loud and clear and when I do finally get a connection it works fine - for a few seconds!

The iPhone worked well on this exact system setup after purchase and it is only in the last few weeks that it has gone bad!

Wonder if I reset the phone back to original via iTunes if that would work?

There's a program I use (Pocket Informant iPhone Outlook Sync) which requires that my PC and iPhone be on the same network in order to sync.

The problem is that it works only when using my home network. When I'm at home, from my PC I am able to successfully ping my iPhone, which is connected to my WiFi network. This works whether myh PC is also ethernet-connected or WiFi-connected.

When I travel, however, even though I successfully connect to the WiFi network on my iPhone and PC, I am unable to ping my iPhone.

I have tried disabling the Windows Firewall and I get the same result!

I can't believe that all these different WiFi networks I connect to (airport, hotel, work) that they all have a configuration issue, so I'm thinking that the reason for the discrepancy must be because of some setting/configuration on my PC/home network.

Is there anyhing else besides disabling the Windows Firewall that I can try?

A:Unable to ping my iPhone on any WiFi outside my home network

You wouldn't want your devices pingable from a public network... thus the reason they're configured this way.

While Apple will most likely patch security issues that are discovered promptly, iPhone users should carefully monitor developments NY Times reports Serious iPhone security issuehttp://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/23/technology/23iphone.htmlA team of computer security consultants say they have found a flaw in Apple?s wildly popular iPhone that allows them to take control of the device. The researchers, working for Independent Security Evaluators, a company that tests its clients? computer security by hacking it, said that they could take control of iPhones through a WiFi connection or by tricking users into going to a Web site that contains malicious code. The hack, the first reported, allowed them to tap the wealth of personal information the phones contain. Although Apple built considerable security measures into its device, said Charles A. The firm, based in Baltimore, alerted Apple about the vulnerability this week and recommended a software patch that could solve the problem.

My old computer crashed and I'm now on a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I installed the latest iTunes successfully, but found that my iPhone 4 is now not syncing with it.

It can detect the phone, but it's not adding or deleting anything - apps, music or photos. I used to be able to select a Photo Folder to sync from the PC hard drive, but now it no longer works. It, however, works well with my notebook which is running on Win Vista.
There is no error message, the sync and backup apparently goes on only for a few seconds, and then iTunes says it is searching for which apps to install but nothing changes. Even when I've clicked Apply.

I've also tried closing iTunes and I've rebooted the phone but no dice. I've also uninstalled iTunes to reinstall. Doesn't work either. And yes, I installed with the 64-bit installer.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

I don't even like itunes being mentioned or like "hey give it a try, it's easy once you know."

I use copytrans for music and videos, when moving music and video files into my iphone.
But I can't move photos that are in my pc into my iphone.
I can only go through so much hassle by uploading my pc images into email in pc.
Download those images in email by mobile. And we all know mobiles are hard and time consuming unlike pc to download images 1 by 1.
It's really frustrating itunes is the worst software of all time in human history but people still use iphone.(personal rant don't mind)

A:Free and simple alternative software to move photos in pc to iphone ?

This may be a silly question but have you tried connecting your phone to your computer by cable ?  I imagine you would need a USB A to Lightning one since Apple go their own way on connectors. That is of course assuming the iPhone has an external connector of any sort.
If it is possible to connect them by cable then, with the phone switched on, you should be able to 'see' the phone's memory in Windows/File Explorer. If you can see the memory then it should be a simple 'drag and drop' operation to move the photos you want across.
As you can gather my experience with iPhones approaches zero but this technique works with other phones and cameras.

Does anybody know how to remove iPhone system folder icon from Windows Explorer?

When I tried to click properties from the top of the Windows Explorer, I got a warning box shown in attachment (1.jpg).

I tried to boot to safe mode, it was still the same? I got no option to remove it.

I tried to uncheck all Apple services and boot the PC, still not solve the problem.

I can?t remove it because I couldn?t find the folder location. I could delete the folder with many ways (command prompt, etc.) if I could just find its location.

I am a total newbie to all this DDNS stuff, but here goes...
My parents just installed some security cameras at their home. They would liek to be able to view the cameras when they are away via the internet. I went over there this weekend and got the DVR unit hooked up to their home network, and assigned it a static IP address using DHCP reservations in the routers settings. They can view their cameras now from their home computers with no problem.
Now, for my question....I read that the only way they will be able to view their cameras when away is if they got a DNS host. I read about having to forward ports and got them signed up with dyndns.com free account.
And now...I am completely at a loss as to what I need to do and what settings I need to have entered where to make this work.
They have a Trendnet TEW-631BRP router. (If anyone cares to look at the users manual on that router, here is the direct link to the site where it can be dowloaded: http://www.trendnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=1102 )
All their computers run XP, and the DVR unit has a software program called "Remote Agent" The DVR unit has settings that can be modified. These settings are:
DHCP on or off, DDNS on or off, DDN Name (which is currently "DVR.NAME") and IP address, gateway, subnet, and the other typical Network settings.

Windows 7 Ultimate/32bit. iTunes 9.0
Each time I dock my iPhone, I get a pop-up message "device driver software was not installed successfully". I want to stop this message appearing.
In fact, Windows 7 *is* locating the correct USBAAPL driver (which is seen to load in Device Manager) and iTunes works fine.
However, since the detail on the error message relates to "MTP USB device" it seems that Windows is triggering the error too soon.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch and latest iTunes etc (for other reasons) but this problem remains.
If I delete the driver then the default that Windows looks for is the MTP driver (which fails) and then I manually point it to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and it reinstalls the USBAAPL driver it had before.

The reason they have more anti-virus apps for Android is because the Android platform is more vulnerable to malware. On Android, you are able to download and install a variety of things from unknown sources.
For the iPhone, however, anti-virus isn't really needed unless you have jailbroken your device.
Hope this helped.

Laptop - Dell Latitude 610 (1.7 GHz, 512 MB)

I am syncing the iphone 3G through itunes with my Outlook contacts and calendar items without any problem on my PC at home, but it's a completely different story at work with the Dell laptop. When I first got the iphone, it worked fine with the Dell for a couple of days, but when I came to work after the weekend, everything went south.

Once I hook up the phone with itunes, it registers it, but when I hit the sync button, it goes to sync with my contacts, and stays that way for eternity. 10-15 minutes goes by without any changes, and meanwhile, the machine slows to a halt. I can't run any other program in parallel, and it would take 30-40 seconds just switching in between windows. So I would have to manually cancel the sync. Afterwards, the machine remains slow as molasses. I go to Task Manager and would see that the OutlookSyncClient.exe continues to run even though I exited itunes. This is not the case on my home computer. When I exit itunes, that particular process stops as well. If I click over to the performance tab, it would show spike sin CPU usage, and off the chart PF values, like in the GB range. It also is taking up 40-50 MB of memory as well... Read more

Hi, I was wanting to get an iPhone 4S 16gb for Christmas so started comparing.

In the UK Apple store, it costs 499.00.
In the US Apple store, it costs $199.00 (which is 128).

In my opinion, that is absolutely crazy!

Is there some way I could buy it without a contract in the US store? I have an uncle in the US so he could buy it and send it over to me.

Could I then get a O2 or Vodafone contract on it over here?

Many thanks!

A:Buy an iPhone 4S from USA

That $199 most likely means it's tied to a contract, so with monthly payments you would pay eventually that same 499 or even more...

My old computer crashed several months ago and so I haven't updated my iphone 3g. I just got a new laptop with windows 7 64 bit. I plug my phone in and it charges but the laptop says USB device not recognized. Ive googled just about everything I could think of with no luck. Gone to the device manager and updated drivers but it still says "unknown device", uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. I have the latest iTunes for 64 bit.

Im getting the iphone 4 next week and I don't want this to affect that new phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got an iPhone 3G today from 3, on a plan and stuff, so I can't break it. But I came home, and realised the iPhone was far more disappointing than originally expected, Bluetooth doesnt share data, only access to audio devices such as headsets and speakers, and itunes won't recognise it at all.. When connected, it charges, and appears in my computer, but itunes displays an error saying something about reconnect, iphone not recognised. This is very frustrating, as after around 4 hours of google searching, apple support ticket reading and other various attempts, I'm unable to fix this issue. I don't wanna go to bed my first night of having this new phone that's supposed to magically double as an ipod, and it doesnt even have a song on it to use as a ring tone other than the depressing default ones..

any suggestions?

i've found some people say to disconnect the wireless network, i unplugged the network cable connected to our home wireless gateway, no luck, disabled it, no luck, but maybe i'm doing it wrong.. any ideas are much appreciated

p.s- can I use my home WiFi network to access the internet without incurring data fees?
