Need drivers disk drive, can't find them anywhere

Q: Need drivers disk drive, can't find them anywhere

My PC currently can't read disks for whatever reason, the only disk it read was the windows 7 installation disk. The disk drive is incredibly stubborn and won't update properly. Can't find the updates or something, then say it has the best drivers already installed despite it's telling me there's an error with my disk drive and it won't work. Can somebody provide me the link for the proper driver or some sort of fix?I think the dvd drive is called, HL-DT-ST- DVDRRW GSA-H30L ATA deviceScreenshot. The dvd drive doesn't even display on the computer tab, no matter what I put in it.Screenshot

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi everyone,

I have a Dell XPS laptop, which was working fine up until yesterday when this morning I got the black Windows Recovery screen telling me that Windows had failed to start. I went onto Startup Repair but this didn't work, and tried starting normally which just kept restarting my computer.

Luckily, I have a Windows 7 DVD, so I can reinstall with no problem -However I have lots of files that I really want to save.

I booted from the DVD and ran the command prompt so I could transfer my hard drive to my external USB drive (they're both about 250GB) before I reinstall Windows. I ran the Disk Part/List Disk command but it cannot detect my USB drive; it can only find the internal hard drive.

When I use another computer, it does detect my USB drive using List Disk, so I'm thinking that the USB drive is fine.

I read something about Windows XP not being able to detect removable media in this way, but shouldn't this work under 7? What am I doing wrong?

I am kicking myself for not backing up this data! Learn the hard way, I guess.

This site has helped me out a lot of times in the past so thanks for any help.

A:Command Prompt Disk Part/List Disk cannot find USB drive (Windows 7)

Get a Live Linux CD (download), either ubuntu, or fedora. Run linux from the CD use the file manager to move your files to the USB drive.

Once you have all important data saved, reinstall Windows.

Hi there,

It says if my os isn't listed i have to load the Load drivers then install drivers for the hard disk but i have no idea what i am looking for or where to even begin looking. can anyone help?

A:where to find hard disk drivers for the acer 5942g using repair disc?

Switch back to AHCI and download the SATA AHCI driver here: Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 5942G

Save it on a USB flash drive or blank disc and install it when asked.

You also need to upload your mini-dump files so that our BSOD experts can check it out for you.

I use two hard drives, a smaller one that runs XP and a larger one for primarily storage. I replaced the storage drive...this had been the "first" drive and was labeled c: while the one running XP was labeled d:

I installed the new drive and rebooted. In the process, the volume labels flipped: the primary drive became c: and the storage drive becoming d:

This has thrown Windows into a world of confusion and all previously installed programs show up as uninstalled. They are still there in "program files" but many of them refuse to open, reporting not being able to find .dll files which I can search for and find on the computer.

Is this a registry issue? Is there a way to reconcile it without installing all this software again?

Thanks for any help.

I'm getting a new system, and I want to wipe out Windows 7 and install Windows XP on my old system. I have not actually done anything yet--Windows 7 is still installed--but I'm trying to understand what I need to do.

I don't have a floppy drive, so I want to try the nLite slipstream procedure.

Unfortunately I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I have not found the SATA drivers. My motherboard is an MSI X-58 Pro-E (MS-7522)3.0, and my hard drive is a Western Digital Raptor 300GB 10,000 RPM Model No.: WD3000GLFS. I've looked at the MSI site, the Western Digital site, and the CyberPower site. I've looked in my Windows 7 installation disk. I've made numerous searches on the Internet....I just can't find those drivers, or the .inf file(s).

My PC manufacturer did not send me any floppy disk or CD having drivers for either my motherboard or my hard drive. I have submitted an email to Western Digital customer support, but today is Saturday, and I do not expect a reply before Monday.

Where can I find those drivers? (and the .inf file(s)).

A:I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

Welcome to SevenForums

You should be able to find the driver you need at the manufacurers site under chipset drivers.
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/X58-Pro-E.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064

Their is no specific driver needed for your hard drive.

Once you have iinstalled you chipset drivers you can install the XP as usual, just insert the disc format and install.

A:can't find my recovery disk drive d:

it is probably marked hidden (No letter assigned to it). For recovery partition, it is normal. Try to run Disk Management and post a screen shot.
Since it is a recovery partition, you might not be able to assign a drive letter to it from Disk Management but you can use diskpart to assign a letter. However, it's better to let it be hidden.

I bought my son a new ABS computer for Christmas (to get him off my computer) and installed all his games on it. Had no problems with the installations but afterwards, two of the games are having trouble finding the CD drive when starting the game. One of the games is "The Sims" and the other I can't remember right now. Anyway, we can put the game disk in the drive (or click the game icon on the desktop), the splash screen pops up to start the game, but once we click "start" we get an error message that says the disk can't be found.

Anyone have this kind of trouble before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you have expansion packs for The Sims and installed it, you will need to use The Sims Expansion pack CD instead of the original CD.

Hi,

I just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, it has a TS-L633C DVD-RW drive.

I updated the DVD drive firmware to a version available on Dell's website (original D300, current DW10).

Now every time Vista starts, the "found New Hardware" wizard opens and attempts to install drivers for the DVD drive (which it doesn't find).

The drive functions perfectly, it appears in "Computer", and I am certain there are no drivers that need to be updated.

How do I get Vista to stop nagging me to update the drivers ?

Thanks!

I have a program that creates a 3D imaging program on a laptop. The laptop I purchased for this does not have a CD drive. So I am using an external drive.

The external reads fine upon boot up and the DVD auto start begins to run - but about 15 seconds into it; it then gives an error stating it cannot find the CD ROM drive.

Do you think this is the program itself or the hardware?

Hi,

Ive got a Portege M400 to which im wanting to start a fresh, I never had the tablet XP CD so im trying to install using a XP Pro disc but everytime I get no hard drive can be detected and I tried a another Home edition disc also.

Ive searched for SCSI/ SATA drivers but can only find RAID drivers to which are no good for me,

Hopefully someone can help me out

Thanks

A:Portege M400 - Windows XP cannot find the hard disk drive

Hi wacksonjackson,

Why these RAID drivers are not good for you? Windows XP requires RAID drivers if your notebook has RAID controller and there is no other option to install XP from a normal Windows XP disk. So download the RAID drivers on official Toshiba website. Either you create a new installation disk with RAID drivers using freeware tool nLite or you copy the drivers on an external USB FDD and load them during XP setup.

Also check similar threads here in forum. You will find hundreds of similar threads about SATA and RAID drivers.

Check this!!!

You can provide those drivers from CD.
When the setup asks you to press F6 to load drivers, press F6, remove XP CD, insert driver CD.
When done, installation will ask you to re-insert XP CD.

Welcome,
I'm assuming that you are currently communicating from another computer.
Do you have the installation disk? If not, then the trip to the PC wizard sounds like a wise choice.
The data loss will depend on what is wrong and when you made your last backup. It could be very little to total.

I had a virus which McAfee virus removal could not remove. I then tried to perform a complete computer recovery using the recovery disks I made when the computer was new. That did not work and I got an error message saying that the disk letter could not be found. I then used the erase function on the recovery disk and completely erased the disk. The recover effort failed again with the same message. I tried to reinstall from an original windows disk of an earlier version (XP) but that failed with the message "not enough space."

The computer is a Sony VGN-CS215J or a PCG-3E2L (both model numbers are shown on the computer in different places) The OS is Vista.

I used the diskpart command to see what was on the disk. The following information was shown (not in this format)
Disk ID=00000001
Type = ATA
Bus = 0
Target = 0
LUN lD = 0
Read only = NO
Boot Disk = NO
Page file disk = No
Hibernation File disk = NO
Crash dump disk = NO

Volume ### Volume 1
LTR C
Label (blank)
FS RAW
Type Partition
Size 233GB
Status Healthy
Info (Blank)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I haven't quite figured out the syntax necessary to change anything. But the Boot Disk being NO and the FS being RAW raises questions in my uneducated mind. I had originally planned to just purchase a new hard drive, but read somewhere on this forum where someone had a similar problem but getting a new disk did not solve it.

Thanks for any help
Ray

A:[SOLVED] recovery disk can not find disk letter

It is showing that your HDD is RAW, meaning there is no partition or file system. You can either boot the computer with a Windows CD/DVD and Create a new partition, Format the Partition NTFS, do not do a Quick Format, (this takes longer but will test the integrity of the drive). and then install Windows. You can also prepare the drive with GParted Live CD. then run your Restore DVD.

I am following the instructions from this web site here>> http://www.xperts.co.za/multi-boot/ I am using the disks that I made from downloading from this site referring to REUEL Boot disk this disk took me through the entire process. It all went great until I rebooted and I keep getting Non-System disk or disk error I have no disk's in the drives. I even installed win98 and all it did was go straight to windows. With in windows I could see the drives I partitioned all of them except the one that windows was actually on. I have done this again and again trying to see if I did anything wrong. Anybody know what is wrong?
Also can anyone tell me how to get free dos I can not figure out what files to download. The one that I am trying to install now is suppose to be mini dos 6.22. I am really new to dos so I am doing a lot of guessing.

Hello,

Here's what happened. I accidentally ran netstat/ab while I had a disk in my D: drive. Now every time I try to run a netstat/ab I get a popup saying:

netstat.exe - No Disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D:.

with three buttons at the bottom: Cancel, Try Again, or Continue
Pressing the buttons does not make the popup go away, but inserting a disk into the drive and pressing continue causes the popup to go away and netstat/ab to run. This only happens with netstat/ab, I am able to run all the other netstat command without the error message. How do I get rid of the popup and run netstat/ab without having to insert a disk? Please help!

Thanks,
psylock

Well, now that I've got my network issues fixed, not it's on to 2 more issues. One I posted already, which is more of an aggravation than a worry. When I'm running World of Warcraft, my CPU usage goes to 100%. I have no clue why, other than the possibility that since my initial HD crashed, and I installed Vista t a previously-external HD, could there be driver issues between my HD and the video/soundcards or motherboard?

If more info is needed, I can supply it. Thanks ahead of time.

When you go to "Device Manager" and click on "Human Interface Devices" there should be USB drivers but when I try it nothing involved with USB appears. I have no clue why they arent there (maybe they got deleted somehow), does anybody know how to fix this and get them back?

A:Cant find drivers

With the Cam plugged in, Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. Are there any devices with yellow flags? Does the device have a Manufacturers name? You can try this: How to find drivers

I've been getting a lot of BSOD on my XP notebook (P4 3ghz, 784 ram). Sometimes it will say an ACPI.sys error, or a Bad Pool Caller, etc.

I've done some looking and it seems it's a bad driver (well, other posts say that).

How do you go about finding which driver it is? There's gotta be 100s of them.....
