Netowrk Card Issue

Q: Netowrk Card Issue

I am working on a dell laptop that has me stumped. its a dell latitude d620 running windows xp with SP3 loaded with the latest update. I just install Dell original Driver
the system is performing normally and seems to be ok but it just wont install the LAN network. After running the driver from DELL website, it shows the network icon with a red cross (even though the laptop is plugged in). then i restart to see if it will see the network. After restarting, there is no trace of the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller network icon.
Can anyone please help me with suggestions.
my wifi Driver is also install success fully but when i am connect LAN Card then Wifi Drive is Disable
i need both Icon is Enable at same time
Can any one give me best solution

Preferred Solution: Netowrk Card Issue

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Netowrk Card Issue

Go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Right click the Local Area Connection and Enable it.
Make sure the Wireless Switch on the left side of the laptop is set to ON and the wireless icon is lit (#4):

i run a workgroup of 30 pcs ranging from p4 (3 ghz) to p! (<600 mhz). i know its silly and maintaining it is a headache. now i want to install some server software but our organisation cant afford to by windows server software. (we are a school in the south west pacific) all pc's are clones and refurbished.
we have manged to get a souped up pc to act as our server (p4 , 3.2 ghz, 1 gb RAM). i want to set up a server on this new pc nut am looking for someting like windows 2003 server but open source and of course free. i also wnat to create user account so that when kids og on they gain access to their shared folders on the server. i also intend to control internet access from this server.
also want to filter pornographic sites from this server.
i have never used or seen a server software before, only read about it.

please i need suggestions for versatile and easy to install and implement server programs.
also documentation and guides for the true novice in me.

A:server formy pc netowrk

The only serious free option is Linux, but this is not really easy-to-use. This would take a lot of setting up especially for a novice.

Why dont you investiagate and see if there is a student license for Windows 2003. I know you can get a student license for Office XP and Windows that is much cheaper.

Windows 2003 will come with a proxy server (as part of IIS, I think), but not a content filter as far as I know. Most of the content filtering that I have seen on networks is handled by the router. You should investigate if your router is capable of this.

You can use this printer to share folders and set up users. It can also be used for many many other things but it will certainly do these functions that you have requested.

I posted this question on microsoft answers but seems like may be i could get better help here
i have a situation here
i'm using static IP for Network #1 which is
but when i try joining another network let's say network #2 with a router address like i have to change network settings and use another static IP
can't i just ask windows to use static IP when i try to connect to network #1 and when i connect to network #2 without having to manually configure it every time ?
i know this seems a bit of nonsense question but i really have to use static IPs when connecting to those two particular networks
thanks in advance

A:Is it possible to assign a static IP for each netowrk ?

Zaref what you really should do is figure out which base ip you want to use. For example then subnet the network so that computer 2, 3, 4, etc. Will share a different segment of the same network. Check out this youtube video (IP Addresses and Subnetting - YouTube) which will teach you more than you need to know about it. Then along with this read up on how subnets work in a business...I've read a couple that describe a company with accounting, shipping, corporate. Another option could be a proxy server, or a switch where all 3 computers are tied together though it.

In my network I have a Dell Windows NT server, two Windows 98 up to date desktops, six latops which include three Dell Inspirons and three WinBooks all very new. One Winbook has Windows ME as does the thre Dell Laptops, another Winbook has Windows 98 (it originally had Windows 2000), and he last WinBook has Windows XP. The problem is as follows:

While on the network while using an application I can't name the Windows N3 Windows XP laptop kicks another laptop on the nework off of the network. The server is set to be the server and not Windows XP as far as I know so why is this happenning to me and how can I fix it? I'm also having trouble keeping mapped drives mapped in every laptop. Thanks for your help.

A:Bizzare Netowrk Trouble

Your post is a bit "stream of consciousness" so its unclear where one problem begins and ends.

While on the network while using an application I can't name the Windows N3 Click to expand...

Windows XP laptop kicks another laptop on the nework off of the network.Click to expand...

The usual cause of this is either both PCs have the same computer name or IP address.

I'm also having trouble keeping mapped drives mapped in every laptopClick to expand...

If the laptops are being used away from the office the user will get an error message that "it was not possible to connect to drive... Do you want to reconnect at next logon?" If the user doesn't know what this is all about and clicks No the mapped drives will be lost.

Best thing is to map the drives in a logon script so that they get mapped when they log on at the office and nothing untoward happens when they are away from the office.

Ok, I just setup, or thought I setup my XP home netowrk. But now I cannot acces the PCs from each other. In Network Places if I click on View Workgroup PCs I get a message that says MSHOME network not accessible or such.

This is how I set it up.

Two PCs each runnig WinXP Home SP1.
Each has an Ethernet card
I have a Linksys Router/Switch

The Cable Modem is pkugged into the WAN port on the router and each PC is plugged into one of the ports. I can use the internet fine. Its working.

I used the XP networking wizard. This is how I set it up:

1. Setup a connection method:
I chose Other then on the next option "This computer connects directly to the internet thourgh the hub and the other PCs connect through the hub as well

2. Select your internet connection
I chose my LAN 3Com GigaBit connection (one I am using now)

3. I get this window(attachment - XP_Network1)
I click next

4. I give the PC a name and description

5. I give the workgroup a name

6. Ready to apply network settings
I click next

Thats it. I do this to both PCs. BUt I get nothin'

What am I forgetting to do?

ISP: Comcast Cable
Router: Duolinks SW24
AP: Cisco WAP 4410N
OP: Vista Ultimate

When I leave my computer idle, it disconnects after 5 minutes or so and the computer can not be pinged. I have disabled the following so far:

System Power Managment
Hardware Power Management
All sleep/hibernate for system and hardware
Set 'net config server /autodisconnect:-1'

If I keep something running like pandora.com, then I wont get disconnected. So I want to blame it on Vista for another setting that has 'disconnect when idle' or the sort that I just havent found.

Now for the screwball.. when I use my Linksys WRT120N wireless router, the connection stays alive indefinitely... or at least 10hrs that i tested. So now, I have the blame the fault on the Duolinks Router or Cisco AP, but I cant find any configuration that has to deal with idle timeouts. I also cant figure out of the Linksys (working) router has some sort of keep alive function that the Duolinks does not..

Please let me know if you have any ideas...

I am at present waiting for a new PC package and when it comes I want to link it up to my existing PC via wireless network to play games and internet share etc but I have no idea in the slightest how to go about it.
The most I have ever achieved was linking two PCs through a serial cable and playing the original Doom so as you can imagine I am out of practice.
The new PC comes with quote "802.11g 54Meg Wi-Fi Wireless system (Which means nothing to me). Set your PC as a virtual router to enable other Wi-Fi PCs to share your Broadband and provides wireles home networking."
It also says it has "Gigabit Lan support 10/100/1000MB/sec, compatible with all networking.
So my question is, what will I need to buy for my present PC to link it up to the new one and also is it a simple job? I mean are there tutorials for dummies on this subject as I say I could never even get a normal network up and running just from one PC to another and that was only to play the original Doom.
Any advice or guides would be a great help.

A:Printer sharing on wireless netowrk

Did you actually SHARE the printer? You not only need to enable file/print sharing, but you also have to share the resources in question.

Start, Settings, Printers & FAXes. Right click on Sharing... and share the printer. Then it should appear in your Network Places.

Hello All,

I'm having an issue where my internet is only working for a few minutes and then is cutting out with the only way for me to re-store it (that ive found so far) is to go into the command prompt and do a ipconfig /release and /renew to get it working again for a few mins. It is happening to every workstation after the compnay switched over from dsl to broadband. Now I didnt do the switch but from what I could tell all our equipemnt (router, switch) configuration remained the same outside of the new modem being in place of the old one. I have full access to our network system and if I can get a little guidence on maybe some possible solutions I can try and fix it over the weekend while it wont effect anyone's work.

Ill be checking back frequently if anyone has questions.

Thanks everyone

A:Netowrk Problems After Switching Internet Providers

Well the RENEWING IPCONFIG command would be releasing the IP address you get from your router. But I suspect a bigger issue here.

When it goes down, can you post an IPCONFIG when it fails and when you get it working again.
Also do you know if you have a static IP with the new ISP company? If you had DSL before I suspect you may have had a static IP since you are business.

Just out of interest, who is the new ISP?

Hi 1st i want you to try something, open up task manager and find explorer.exe. Right click it and end process, now its gonna go crazy and ur screen will [probably go black. Keep task manager open and if for some reason it closed you can always use ctrl+shift+esc to reopen it or ctrl alt del.
Then in task manager run a new task "explorer.exe".
To run a new task, at the top of the task manager windows click file, run.
Also even if that works, it could be only temporarily, i highly suggest doing this!

A:[SOLVED] Wireless Netowrk not working on Dell Laptop; Latitude D620

Has this laptop ever connected at home?

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

How to Remove Stored Wireless Network Profiles for XP, Vista, and Windows 7

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL and press enter.

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

then please Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.

Hi, I have 4 pcs, all taking to each other via tcp/ip on the network, all fine. They can access each others files, etc.

One pc is connected to a wireless internet. If I share the internet connection (connects to other 3 via LAN, so im enabling shared internet connection in the LAN propities), no pc, including the pc connected via the wireless, can get the internet.

I did have all pcs connecting to the internet, but as soon as I set file sharing and netowrk discory to "on", thats when the internet stopped working.

Any ideas?

The computer's a year old, running XP, and my boyfriend and I have no idea what's wrong with it (it's his). I'd put in hardware support but I don't know which piece of hardware may be corrupted, exploding as we speak, or what.

It began last night. He's done this before -- he has two monitors, one meant for a TV (I believe) and another old computer screen. Normally it runs on the TV one because it's bigger. He switched to the older one to show me how he can adjust the settings so that it's all vertical. That was great and dandy and we didn't expect any issues. He's done it before and it really isn't doing much to the computer.

Later, after midnight, he goes to switch everything back to normal. First, the computer acts like the monitor is there but that it can't do anything -- it tries to go into sleep mode or something. Then I suggest he unplug, shut down, plug things back in normally, and power back up. This appears to work.

I was a bit happy then, until we got to the XP loading screen. It's going... and then after, it flashes, then goes black. Nothing comes up, nothing does anything.

And so the three hour saga of last night begins. We restart, we spam F8, we get into safe mode, he disables Nvidia but can't open the application. Nor does his mouse function in safe mode (I know some don't, but it really doesn't help the situation). I've used my laptop to bring up shortcut keys and we're functioning through everything that way. He restarts after disabling Nvidia, an... Read more

I've heard about useing nlite to put the drivers in a cd with the rebootstuff but i can't getit to read the drivers too. it was easy enough going to vista as you could insert a flash drive with drivers on it.

Hello forum,
So I just updated my Nvidea graphics card, and for some reason after restarting my laptop, in order to install these files to the system, the "System Thread Exception Not Handled" Blue screen error flashed on my screen, and later redirected me to an automatic repair screen, which attempted to fix this issue.
I ended up restarting the laptop on safe mode, uninstall my Nvidea graphics card and completely reinstall it from scratch.
But for some reason it keeps giving me the same error each time I restart my laptop.
After some research online, apparently there's an issue with Avast and Nvidea?
You will find attached the SF Diagnostic Tool grab all option files needed to view the issue at hand.
Any help would greatly be helpful.
Many are saying that I've not been installing the corrent drivers, but that's not possible, as it's directly from the MSI website (GT70 0NE) linked to the official Nvidea website, saying that the driver includes my graphics card (680M).
While other people are saying that maybe Avast is causing some issue towards the graphics card?
I have the Avast 2014 Professional Antivirus.
Laptop Specs:
Windows 8.1
MSI Dragon Edition 2, GT70 0NE, Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40 GHz 64 bit
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Any help would greatly be appreciated, I'm currently running my laptop without the nVidea Graphics Card Drivers, and seems to be fine so far.

Well I just found this forum today, so I decided to ask this question.

About a year ago, I had to system restore, because my computer just kept FSODing on me. When I went through the system restore process with Dell, at the end of the process I got an error. I don't quite remember what it was, as it was so long ago.

Ever since then, my computer has been completely without sound. I have tried everything from installing/reinstalling/uninstalling drivers, to the most simplistic, such as checking if my speakers work, or are connected.

So far, nothing has brought me any closer to figuring out what this problem could be. I am pretty sure that somehow, my sound card (its an integrated one) has just fried or something, but I really dont know.

So... is my sound card busted? Or are my drivers just not working for some reason?

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:Sound Card issue, or driver issue?

System restore . . .

System restore or system recovery? Did wipe the old operating system out and reinstall everything from scratch (system recovery) or did you use Windows' system restore to backdate the configuration. (Frankly, I think the choice these of terms by the industry are very confusing.)

Assuming system recovery and assuming the sound worked before and quit after system recovery, I'm for a misconfiguration. But, the simpler fix might be a cheap add-in sound card.

I have an IBM Lenovo X61 Tablet .. they told me I needed to reinstall my drivers for my connectivity (they called it the wireless stack .. I downloaded something for power management, hot key driver, wireless card connections, access connections) .. I did that and am still having the same problem .. any suggestions? .. I would appreciate any help! ..

I just installed Windows 8 on my PC and am having a quirky issue on the desktop. Whenever I try to right click on the desktop, the screen flashes as if it is resetting itself, and then it goes back to the desktop photo. The menu never pops up. If I open a program or a folder, the right click menu shows up just fine. Is it disabled? Is there a fix?

I got a new netbook (Aspire One)
I am trying to connect wirelessly. My other laptop works fine right now, sitting close to modem.

I think it says under Wireless Network Connection "limited or no connectivity"

?? because I need to type in the correct password or something... I read that somewhere.

Do I need some other password (WEP) from my other computer or something (that I surely have lost)

or is the password WEP I made up today to get me this far.
It says I have the signal strength.

I made up some password to get me this far --

It is also talking about my network doesn't have my IP address, but I click repair, and it tries to put it in there but can't and suggests I contact my network.

I don't want to connect my computers now, just get connected to the internet.

I am completely lost with computers, don't speak the language.

I clicked on repair the connection and it said "I need to renew my IP address, For Assistance, contact the person who manages your network".... whatever that means???

I don't even know what "the network" is (its true).

Thank you, if you can help, please remember I can't understand computer stuff like you at all. need step by step. Thanks alot!

A:Can't connect- "the network did not assign a netowrk address to this computer"

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

I don't have access to the hardware right now, but the plan is to use a D-Link 301 wireless router as a repeater so that the laptop in the upstairs (3rd floor) bedroom can reach the netgear wireless modem/router that connects to the internet. (Ground floor)
Currently, the netgear wireless signal is detacted on the middle floor, but not on the upper floor of the house.
Is this possible?
Where might I find information on this?
I have tried Google, but have not had any luck finding the information I need.

"The card supplied was not recognized. Please check that the card is inserted correctly, and tightly."

I ran some updates on an employee's computer and now when I start it up, I receive this error if the aircard is in the PC Card slot. I understand it's misinterpreting it as being a security card or whatever the case may be but I don't understand why or how to remedy it.

Anyone with a similar experience or that can shine a guiding light?

ok i just recently have been having problems with any thing graphics related. Ok first off, the other day i was playing need for speed : hot pursuit 2 and it all of a sudden froze, the music was still goin, but then that stoped, and then nothing was doing ne thing, but all of a sudden it started going again, and i kept playing. So that happened a few times and it pissed me off so i stoped playing. So now today i went to play wartcraft III - Throne of darkness and on the main screen as i was selecting an option it just froze up like need for speed did. Now i thought this was really bad and i started to get angry. So i quit and then restarted, but that didn't fix any thing it just froze a little while into the game.

So now i decided to re install war3 and the expansion but nope still nothing. Then i tried using differnet drivers fo my vid card and still no. So I started to try out other games, such as cs and still that game froze up once i was actually playin in the game. Then i quit, did restore thing to an earlier point and still same thing happened.

Now tonight after all my struggles i reinstalled windows, totally new(format and everything). With no luck it still froze up

Now i have been talking to other ppl and they say this has to be a graphics card problem, now i have a geforce TI 4200 and have enjoyed it performance, untill now. IT is only one year old so it shouldn't be dying of age yet.

Is this a hardware issue you think and the card is just dying of old... Read more

Hello- just got a new Radeon 3870. When I installed, I just downloaded the latest ATI drivers instead of using the bundled CDs, as they are usually out of date. Everything works fine, except in my device manager I get an unknown PCI device that I can only assume is the new card. I guess it isn't too big a deal, but I would like to make windows recognize the drivers if possible. Thanks!

Oh and it also claims to have an unknown multimedia controller, but my sound works fine (audigy 4). Maybe its the onboard sound controller?

A:New ATI card issue

Multimedia controllers are usually sound or TV adapters or similar.
Check the display adapters in device manager to see if it is listed.
It may be that the secondary display on the card doesn't have the driver
installed, but I would guess it is something else.
Right click on the uknown device and click properties.
Click the driver tab and click update driver.
Let windows search for a driver.
If it's the video card,it should find it.

You might have corrupted the card, try to see if it's still recognized by the digital Camera.

I put a new NIC card in one of my PCs. When I hooked it up to my network I can no longer get to the internet, I noticed there is a yellow "!" on my adapter in device manager. I tried re-installing the drivers but same results.

I tried resetting my router, modem but that still didnt help. Any ideas what is causing this? I am getting a message of can't connect to my DCHP server".

If you are getting a yellow ! in device manager, you are probably not installing the correct drivers.

Hello again friends.

I got a TV tuner card for X-Mas. (If you dont have one I recommend you get one. ) I keep getting a warning prompt advising me to enable DMA in my hard drive, so I finally broke down and enabled it. Upon rebooting, I no longer can drop and drap onto/from the desktop. Not to mention, the number of times I hard to hard-reboot my Pc to finally get to windows.

What is up with this? And what in the heck is DMA?!

You might want to look here (or do a Google search). It appears you may have a DMA channel conflict.

Can't get to the internet. I think my internal onboard one is bad do I bought another one. These are the things I have tried. I tried switching out the cable for a new one, I tried putting the cable from my computer from my PC to the modem directly and no go. I reset both my modem and router waiting minute or 2 in between. I tried a new card. I had linksys on the phone trying multiple things like disabling my NIC card, doing a repair, install drivers from their site over internet. I tried pinging my router to no avail.

I am at a loss. That is why I am wondering if I put in my XP cd and try and do a system restore? I don't know if that comes set up to run by default or is that something I manually would of had to of done because I didn't. If so, would re-installing the OS do the trick? I just did an image copy of my OS this past sunday with Acronis true image 2009. Should I try that? what do you think?

Again, thanks for your help.

So. I had a 64gb micro SD with music in for my mp3. Acquired some more music on a usb from my brother (legitimately bought) and though hey! I'll sort all my music out to folders and delete duplicates. You know how it gets. So after this. Thought I'd get a 256gb micro SD and put all my music on this (we're talking 59gb). So started the transfer. Said 10 hours. Yh yh fine. Then at the end. All the folders were there. But we're empty. So formatted it. Moved the folders bit by bit alphabetically. At the end as i safely eject it. It says corrupted and the same folders there with no content. So thought Instead of transferring from my laptop to my micro SD. I'll bypass the laptop and go from my external HDD to the micro SD. Transferred my music to the HDD then over the the micro SD. No problem first stage. And a faster transfer to the micro SD. And yet again when i eject it and insert into my mp3. Only 800 odd songs there instead of 12000 and the folders are again present but empty. Please help. I've wasted hours of my life on this!

I have a computer with ASUS A7V333 MB. The monitor went dead one day and found that I'd neglected to keep the dust cleaned out and found the vid card fan in pretty bad condition. I cleaned everything out inside, then rebooted, but the monitor was not working again, getting "no Signal" on the screen or such. I looked at the vid card fan and noticed it was not moving, so used my finger to nudge it and it started up and the monitor worked. Had to do this every day upon starting up. I found a tech article on how to take apart the fan to clean it and relube the shaft, but was unable to do this. I shopped around for a reasonably cheap card and got a GeForce 6200 LE 512mb AGP 8x card. When I put it in, nothing happened. I've checked the monitor and its plug/pins, as it works in my other computer. I read some other articles about changing something related to the vid card in bios, but I can't get to the screen to do that.

I'm wondering if there are any other ideas of what might be the problem without taking it into the shop, as I am unemployed and very tight on money. I've got sensitive data and projects on my computer that I have not backed up and am not wanting to take into the tech shop. My fault for not backing up the last month's work. Can a diagnostic check be done if I remove the hard drive to protect my creative work? My MB is from 2002 and it could be the AGP socket is going bad? Don't know if that happens or not. There's al...
