I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

In Windows it just see's one of the display ports screens plugged in. I checked the BIOS, and cannot see 'multiple display support'. It has the latest BIOS. any ideas? thanks in advance!

I recieved my new ThinkCentre M920s and noticed two defects shown above in the photos:- 1. The headphone jack appears pushed to the side with a sharp copper wire sticking out of the hole 2. The vent to the right appears bent and misshapen My question is, am I being too picky about build quality or are these legitimate issues? Are they even issues at all actually or is there a legitimate reason that a sharp copper wire should be to the side of the headphone jack? Is the vent to the right bent and misshapen or is it supposed to be "curved" or something? I spent over 1250 ($1630 American) on just the tower alone, so I expected a premium product. Thoughts appreciated!

Just received the new M910s SFF machine I purchased a few weeks back from Allstarshop.com (because Lenovo was "sold out" and not even accepting orders for them at that time). I had also bought some extra "add-on" hardware parts from online retailers, expecting no problem at all installing them.  Note that I checked again today, and Lenovo is once again accepting orders for the M910s SFF machines.  So that problem is behind us.
Well... surprise. I had unexpected problems and trouble with 2 out of the 3 add-on hardware items I bought for the M910s, so I wanted to share my experience to give others who might have a similar project in the works a heads-up.
(1) The 10MK000QUS Kaby Lake i5-7500 machine was factory configured with 1x8GB of DDR4-2400 memory, Win10 x64 Pro, 1TB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA3 HDD, and optical CD/DVD drive.
(2) I added an additional 1x8GB of matching DDR4-2400 memory purchased from Crucial.  No problem.  Works perfectly, and the machine is now 2x8GB=16GB operating in dual-channel mode as expected.
(3) I had purchased a Gigabyte low-profile GTX-1050ti graphics card for use in the new machine, not expecting any problems. Well, it turns out there IS a problem, because this card at a length of 6.57" (167mm) is just bit too long.  The swing-up drive bay assembly inside the SFF case doesn't quite have the needed <167mm clearance in order to close properly with the graphics card installed.  It needs maybe just a... A:M910s M920s SFF: M.2 SSD and graphics surprises/problems (SOLVED: M910t with GTX 1050 installed)

Remarkably, the "local express" delivery from Newegg got here about noon!  Amazing.
But sadly, the Zotac 1050ti card which was 160mm (6.3") in length is STILL TOO LONG.
So, much to my disappointment, it appears Lenovo has reduced the internal space in these new SFF cases, making it just about impossible to use almost all graphics cards.  I have installed Sapphire R7-250 low-profile / HD7750 cards in multiple M93p SFF and M800 SFF machines, and had no problem whatsoever, even though that card is 170mm (6.7").
Obviously the previous generation of SFF cases simply was larger.  The SFF cases now being used for the M910s are just too small.  If I'd known this I probably would have gone with the tower machine, if only to be able to use my intended GTX 1050ti graphics card (which could have been full-size in the tower).
Anyway, I've now ordered a lesser graphics card than I'd intended, the MSI version of the low-profile GTX 750ti. because it's length is only 5.75" (146mm), which absolutely will fit.  But this card only has DVI and HDMI connections, thus lacking a DisplayPort connector.  It's also only 2GB of DDR5 memory instead of 4GB as in the 1050ti, and with a slower core clock speed.  Bandwidth is 86GB/s vs. 112GB/s for the 1050ti.  Thankfully, there is at least one of these relatively modern DDR5 cards which is short enough to fit even if it's not the 1050ti.
But it will physically fit, which in the end ... Read more

I was finally able to find a proper card that fits the M910 SFF.
This is the only card currently on the market the supports the latest HTPC 4K/8K specification (H feature set: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo) and its size is small and short enough to be installed inside M910 SFF.
It is also only 30W TDP, which is just a bit more than the original Nvidia GT 730 that was pre-installed.
Quite happy with this awesome system.
Hope this helps.
Mod:  since the M710s uses the same case, this particular Gigabyte GT 1030 will also fit it (other GT 1030 models, at this time, are too long.)  Topic also applies to the M720s and M920s as they use the same case.

A:M710s M910s M720s M920s SFF: successfully installed GT 1030 (HTPC, 4K monitor TV, graphics)

I would recommend that you'd best prepare yourself to be disappointed with your "coming soon" M910s SFF machine, in that I am at least reasonably skeptical that there is sufficient "clearance" for almost any "modern" decent add-on graphics card which can fit inside the newly narrowed (i.e. the SFF case is now shortened front-to-rear by almost 4" from all previous SFF cases) SFF case.  The 4" reduction essentially reduces the interior expansion card clearance by 4", i.e. similarly reducing the new maximum size card length that can be used in the M910s.
You should read this thread of mine which I posted a few months back regarding these very issues with an M910s SFF I'd ordered and three different graphics cards I tried to install, but all of which would not fit.  I believe the new maximum size expansion card is only around 5.75", whereas with all previous SFF cases you could install a card that was probably up to 6.8" without an issue.  Most graphics cards are 6.25" - 6.75" and as long as they are low-profile they can all be used.
No longer.  I think the maximum length card is now about 5.75".  And your GT1030 is 5.9" long and 2.7" tall.  Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it just might be the straw that broke the camel's back.
The problem is the swing-up/down drive bay assembly inside the SFF case, which in its full "snapped down/closed/locked" position has to clear the end of the expansion graphics card.  With... Read more

Hello!I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition with Windows 8 as it's default operating system. Since I don't like it that much, I plan to format the hard drive (by going into computer-> Right click on C: -> Format) and then to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on it.After the clean installation procedure, I was wondering if I could simply insert the Dell Drivers and Utilities disc into the optical drive and intall the drivers like I would normally do.Therefore, the real question would be: Will the Windows 8 drivers provided by Dell be compatible with Windows 7?Thank you very much everyone.FatLord

I did find this one "Inspiron 15R SE 7520" If that is your model then the Dell website has Windows 7 64bit drivers and Windows 8 64 bit drivers available for download.

I would use the Windows 7 Drivers for windows 7, Just download them ahead of time and burn them to a CD or store on a flash drive so you will have them handy to use.

I would also have my Antivirus ready to install before I went on the Internet.

3rd point. Windows will prevent you from formatting the drive it is installed on. So you have to do it during the install process.

I need to download and install drivers to a Latitude E6430 Windows 7 64-bit laptop without anykind of network/modem/wireless drivers. To be clear, I actually don't want wireless/network/modem drivers on the machine, but I'd like to update the video drivers, bios drivers, etc etc (everything but internet drivers basically). (I want this to be my offline laptop to avoid internet distractions)

However, when I go to download drivers from the website, it basically says the drivers will (A) automatically install and (B) when I tried to download anyway hoping I could just move them with my external hard drive it basically downloaded a Dell System Detect Launcher. How do I get the drivers piecemeal, put them on my external hard drive, and then install them on my offline Dell Laptop?

To my knowledge, when an OS such as Windows 8.1 is booted, all firmware/bios drivers are replaced by more appropriate OS drivers in the boot drive during start up. I learnt this happens for the latest versions of Windows. Am I right? Do all bios drivers get replaced? Does this happen with the latest versions of OS X as well?

If this is so, then you can discard firmware as suspected of causing problems on a computer that's already booted up. Unless there's a problem that's causing a driver to remain in RAM after boot.

This is a general question for a fresh install of Windows on a computer. Let's say we just completed the installation and we open up Device Manager (we haven't used Windows Update yet). Device Manager shows us that there are - let's say "3" - devices that do not have drivers installed for them. If we visit the computer manufacturers website though, they'll have - let's say "8" - different drivers to download.

If we only install the "3" drivers for the devices that Windows couldn't find drivers for, are we hurting our computing performance by not installing the other "5" drivers that were available on the manufacturers website?

This is just good to know in general, because I've faced this situation with every install of Windows since I began computing with Windows 98. But the reason I'm asking now is because the nincompoops at Acer - despite me entering my serial number - still offer me every possible driver for my model, including drivers for hardware that's not in my computer! Windows - of course - can't identify the hardware, so I'm ready to rip out the last little bit of hair on my head.

A:General Question - Windows Installed Drivers Vs OEM Website Drivers

Some manufacturers offer an utility that helps you identify what stuff you have in the laptop, I think Acer did.
You can also try the hardware-detection program this forum has, this tutorial

Also check the driver version, as some manufacturer list multiple driver versions and you only need the latest (usually, otherwise take the last version that works).

Also, installers of these drivers usually look up the hardware IDs of the hardware and if they don't detect anything that could benefit from them will abort installation. Some instead install anyway and you will have some drivers you won't need, but won't cause any issue as again Win7 knows that they don't match any hardware ID, and will leave them alone.

So, you may have noticed that I am talking of Hardware IDs, that are basically each device's own "calling card" integrated in each device, you can identify the hardware by looking up its hardware ID and then searching it on Google to convert that code into a human-readable device model and brand.

Open device manager, right-click on an unknown device, click on "properties", then go in the "details" tab of its properties panel from Device Manager, click on the drop-down menu and select "Hardware IDs". right-click on the codes you get on the text panel below it and select copy, then search the code on Google to identify the device.

Yesterday I had the Windows defender virus on my Desktop computer. I read things online and most places were saying to use rKill, ComboFix, and Malwarebytes. So I followed everything and then the virus was removed (I believe). Less than an hour later a friend of mine went to a website (which I believe got me a virus).
Ever since then when my computer boots up the task bar at the bottom of the screen is grey and plain (looks like a task bar from Windows XP maybe), it says that my "Audio service is not running", and I do not even have the bars that show my Wifi signal (I'm assuming that I am missing the driver now?).
I do not know if ComboFix is what did this or if I have another virus but I have become so frustrated with this that I figured I would ask for help.

I'm running a Gateway DX4860, Windows 7, and a wireless internet card.
If ANY other information is needed then I will be more than happy to give it.

I've just updated my Acer Notebook to Windows 7. I've installed all the drivers that Acer supplies for Windows 7.

But what about the drivers that are not supplied? Should I install the ones that Acer supplies for Vista or stick with the 'pre-installed' drivers by Windows 7 ... Everything seems to work with the pre-installed ones.

And how do I check wether or not the Intel Turbo Memory is working correctly?

I can only reply to the first question. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Is what I'd suggest. On the second we'll have to have someone more familiar with intel turbo memory. Just in the process of reinstalling my Win7 OS. I have an ATI Radeon HD5750 Graphics Card and when Windows was installing I noticed that it installed drivers for the graphic card. In my previous install I had the Catalyst Control Centre installed but never ever used it for anything that I know of. So my question is, do I need to install the CCC package from the ATI site or are the windows installed drivers just as good. On a similar tack without starting a new thread. Do I need to reinstall the chipset drivers for my Gigabyte MA770T-UD3 Motherboard or are they still installed?.

A:Windows 7 drivers or ATI graphic card drivers?.

If you have an ATI graphics card/chip...some say that you don't need to install CCC.
I have a history of ATI cards/chipsets and I always install the full package because the card/chip works properly and I don't care about the fact that I don't ever use CCC.
Any drivers installed by Windows by default will work...but for optimum use of the graphics function, you probably need to install the drivers provided by the system or motherboard manufacturer.
Anytime an O/S is reinstalled...all previous system files are flushed.  Of course, a clean install fllushes everything.

Open question, discussion, and somewhat of a problem.

I've recently been having various issues with my pc, among the things I tried to do was update my graphics card driver: found the newest driver crashed madly, and rolled back. It's brought to mind a simple question:

What benefits are there in going for the newer ATI Catalyst drivers compared to the one defaulted by windows but which hasn't updated in 3 years.

Generally what could have changed? Compatablity? If it works it works. Stablity? Performance? Heat management?

Since it takes me 2 hours to download a driver (slow connection) I'm sticking on my w7 default ones: I know they work. It does make me ask though if there is a benefit to upgading after i've got my PC stable again.

A:Windows Drivers vs ATI Catalyst Drivers

newer drivers are made to improve performance and add new features in the graphic control panel and fixes bugs and issues that were in the previous drivers.

Have one question, When I installed Windows 7 the only drivers I have installed were my video and audio which are not part of the motherboard (not onboard). My computer runs fine but 1 game but more or less I never installed any driver for my motherboard. Normally you install the motherboards nforce drivers, raid SATA/IDE drivers etc... Do I need to go back to my motherboard vendor and find updates for windows 7 or just leave it they way it is, or should I install the drivers off the motherboard CD I have here? My mobo doesn't have any windows 7 updates btw there all windowsXP based drivers.

A:windows drivers vs vendor drivers

If you did a boot drive format and install of Win7 you'll need to go to the mobo makers website and download the latest drivers from there. You might also need a BIOS flash, but I hesitate to mention that as only the very experienced should do it. We'll need full system specs to help any further.

I recently upgraded this old Dell M1530 Vista x64 laptop to Windows 8 Enterprise x64.

Apparently the sound company for it (Sigmatel) went out of business before Windows 7 was even released and their latest drivers are some ancient Vista drivers.

Should I download and install the Sigmatel drivers or continue to use the drivers that come with Windows 8? (They seem to be fine so far, just seeing if there's any other input on this).

Do you think that the Windows 8 drivers would probably be better based on the fact that they're much newer and made to run in 8, regardless of the fact that it wasn't made for my system specifically?

All I've ever really cared about is what has the best maximum output levels. I really hate sound drivers that are very limited in how loud you can make them output. My old laptop (this M1530) is actually better than my current Origin beast laptop in terms of sound because the sound driver on my new laptop (Realtek) doesn't allow very much loudness at all on a set of headphones. The only reason I ever liked the Sigmatel drivers is because they let you turn up the volume until it's so loud it could blow your ears (and your speakers) out.

Or perhaps it's hardware and has nothing to do with the drivers. I dunno, I'm too stupid.

Point is, drivers that came with my system that aren't designed to work with this OS or go with the Win 8 default drivers?

A:Should I download the old drivers or keep the Windows drivers?

There is a saying, "if it's not broke, don't fix it" so I would stick with the working one. You could save the old driver as a backup.

I was actually getting ready to post here about my x00000124 problem but reading other posts realized that my motherboard drivers were freakishly out of date (2006 versions, forgot about them last time I was installing a system). I dled all new ones, installed them all, performed a restart and then used newly installed ASUS Suite to update my BIOS.

Not sure if that's relevant, but after that last successful startup there was a bunch on popups asking for promision to launch several application (related to the driver update I imagine). I agreed to all of those and nothing beyond that happened.
I did not restart computer again before performing BIOS upgrade.

BIOS itself seems to work just fine.

When I attempted to start system with new BIOS my computer restarts about 1 sec after starting animation begins. I can only launch it in "Startup Repair" mode and it communicates that automatic repair was impossible. For those reasons i can't provide that archive with dumps and whatnot. Safe Mode isn't working either.

Hello iJoe,

Is there any reason you ran RootRepeal instead of gmer? I'd prefer a log from gmer as outlined in our pre-posting topic.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here. Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

Click the image to enlarge it

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ... Sections
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Please attach the ark.txt in your next reply

I just did a clean install of windows 7 x64 and have a question about drivers. There are so many choices and its not always clear which drivers are the best.
Is it better to use Windows / Windows Update drivers, or perhaps drivers from ASUS website. My concerns are Nvidia and nforce drivers and which ones do you guys recomend.
Also as far as my TV Card and bluetooth dongle, should I stick with Windows update or should I go with each individual component driver. Also latest hauppage tv card driver on hauppage site says its WHQL but then windows update hauppage driver is one release behind?
All I want is for my computer to be stable at least for the summer.

A:Windows drivers vs OEM drivers

It's best to use those from the ASUS website. And if you know which card you have, it's even better to get them from the Nvidia/ATi website. You grab the latest drivers and that's it.

As for other, non-essential peripherals, Windows Update drivers are fine.

Hp Pavilion 20-b313w All-In-One
Original OS: Windows 8(x64), Upgraded to Windows 8.1(x64), but I do have a folder "Program Files(x86)"
1) Infection date and initial symptoms: I think this started in February. My computer was infected, I hard a very hard time getting rid of it so i decided to nuke it. I did a recovery with the HP recovery set and then did a reset for extra reformatting. After that I did all updates for windows 8 upgraded again to 8.1  more updates everything worked fine, until I opened Microsoft Solitaire Collection. When I signed back into the app the option to sync all my other apps popped-up. When I clicked yes I thought it meant I wouldn't have to log into all my Xbox for PC apps individually and it would keep me logged in. I was wrong, it brought back and replaced almost everything I had on computer before the recovery and reset. Things like my desktop background and my favorites list in internet explorer and who knows what else. Then in the beginning of March I reinstalled "Magic Puzzles" app from the Windows Store App and one day I got a pop-up window stating my flash player is out of date click here to update. I closed the app through task manager because I know click windows like that closed can trigger a download. Unfortunately the third I got annoyed and clicked it closed. I never got the pop-up again but I started getting 'fix windows errors' or 'scan to fix windows errors, then 'you have 1 message', then 'click to update your windows d... Read more

A:False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers

I'm sorry about the mess I made yesterday when I posted 6 threads of the same topic, I only meant to post one. What happened is, when I clicked the post button it took a long time to load or transfer me back to the virus, trojan, spyware, and malware removal logs page and show I posted successfully. Instead I was redirected to an error page, so I tried it again, again, with and without attachments. When I gave up and went back to the  virus, trojan, spyware, and malware removal logs page, that's when I saw all my attempts did go through. I've been getting a lot of redirects to error pages, sql errors, and denied access of select Microsoft pages that are about malware and viruses. Below this I'm attaching screen shots of the error page I was redirected to, along with the fake 'fix window's errors' banner ads I'm seeing in my game app and found their location in appdata, I'm not attaching the actual image file it's the screen shot I took of inside the app. I've also noticed something odd when I open the properties of some of the apps in appdata, I swear I see the display change when I click on the security tab. It's like there's a red mark of some kind next to a group user name but then it's gone, it' happens so fast all I see is a flash of red and I get the same thing when I open system32 folder. I see a glimpse of a view yellow folders and below them 2 files @OpenWithToastLogo.png and @TileEmpty1x1Image.png that have a floral image on the icons and then so... Read more

So I downgraded from Vista to Xp home basic because I didn't like the way vista worked. Unfortunately something went wrong when I used my Xp boot disc and now I am missing the following devices:
Ethernet Controller
PCI Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Please help if you can, I have looked through countless forums and downloaded about 20 files already and I still haven't fixed anything.

A:Downgraded from Windows Vista to Windows XP Home Basic now I have missing drivers

First thing that needs to be clarified here, when you say "now I'm missing the following" what type of missing are we talking about here? Are the devices and such present inside your device manager and all that is missing here is their drivers? Or when you open up the device manager, all the above and stated hardware is gone? If this is a driver issue the fix or fixes could be relatively manageable. But if this is a case that nothing is there and indeed these devices aren't showing up with anything inside Windows, but you know they are there and still nothing, that might be a manageable thing to deal with, with the end result being perhaps a wipe of the disk and starting over from scratch. Maybe Windows didn't find these items when it was being installed for whatever reason or reasons. If you decide to install the O.S. again, I would first go into your computers BIOS and just with your own eye's, confirm the presence of these items, for if they are in BIOS and register fine, than they should translate over to Windows being able to find them as well. And while you are inside BIOS, doesn't hurt to make sure that nothing is switched off, just make sure all these items your talking about are activated or just active through BIOS and you should be fine.

I get this error over 10 times a day: display driver stopped responding and has recovered.  Display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for windows 8® stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Usually this happens when using firefox and gives me a black firefox window.  Usually I can hit F11 to go full screen and back to restore everything to functioning.  However sometimes firefox locks up, and other times, without any error at all, my mouse gets slow and then the whole computer locks up requiring a hard reset.

Recently got this error and re-installed Windows 7. After downloading some of the updates(not all at once or anything like that but I think a 1/3 of them) and installing the updates I restarted and the computer froze while updating windows. I decided to go to work and leave it like that in case it was just taking longer or something like that but when I came home it was still at the same screen. After restarting it I tried to restore it to a previous point before the updates but that didnt work and finally was forced into system repair which tried several times but never succeeded until finally it threw this error:
I googled the error and was brought here. I downloaded and ran Farbar System Recovery Tool x64 and ran the scan and saved the log. I've uploaded the log file instead of copying it into the window and making it the post a mile long. Please help me out on what to do next and whats going on with my laptop. I've had to borrow my mom's to repair mine after relying on it when my desktop's mobo finally went out and I use my laptop for work and scheduling.

I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I'm hopeful.
What I hope to achieve is a fresh installation of Win 7, and all of the necessary hardware drivers for any particular model of laptop, leaving the computer completely ready for a new user.  When the new user first turns the machine on it should state that "Setup is preparing the computer for first use" and then prompt the new user for setup information.  In other words I want to install Windows and the drivers and then leave the computer without an established user profile or other setup information (ie - keyboard layout, time zone, etc.).
Does anyone around here have any idea how I would go about accomplishing this?  Thanks so much in advance!  :-)

A:Installing Windows AND H/W drivers leaving Windows rdy 4 setup by first user

How many models are we talking about?
I'd recommend searching windows 7 unattended install to start with.  You will need to included all of the necessary drivers for all of the machines you want to use this on, hence the question of how many.  I will tell you that 10 machines or so will require at least 15GB of space for the install.  The more machines the more space you will need to store the install.

I've got Windows 7 x64 Ultimate running on my Dell XPS M1710 latop. It seems that Dell's Vista x64 driver isn't quite right. I'm getting lots of intermitent video corruption. Of course, I'm running all the visual enhancements; that's why I spend so much $$$ on this laptop. ;) Mostly the video issues are flashing or brief video corruption using any 3D effects. This is exactly the same kind of issues I had with Windows XP and Vista x86 and x64 until I was able to find nVidia drivers.Does anyone know where I can get good drivers for Windows 7 x64 or Vista x64? I'm already trying Dell's latest Vista x64 drivers. What really is annoying is that I missed getting a GeForce Go 7950 GTX by just a few weeks when I bought my Dell XPS M1710 latop. Why is it annoying? Because nVidia is supporting the GeForce Go 7950 GTX but not the GeForce Go 7900 GTX in the "GeForce Release 179 for Notebooks" posted on their website.
Does anyone know why nVidia is shunning ? Is this Dell's or nVidia's decision? nVidia's website says that their lack of support for OEM on GPU is becuase of the OEM's dont' want us going to nVidia for drivers.Begging for any kind of real answers... This is very annoying!
Thanks to anyone who replies!

A:Windows Vista or Windows 7 x64 Drivers for GeForce Go 7900 GTX (XPS M1710)

I installed the Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX (purchased on Ebay and advertised as Refurbished by manufacturer) as a replacement for my defective GeForce Go 7950 GTX card (the latter is notoriously infamous for breaking down after a couple of years).
The hardware installed fine, and it showed up as a 7900 GTX in the BIOS of my XPS M1710.
However, in Windows 7 x64 it would not recognize the Video card and would show up as Standard VGA Video Adapter, resulting in very poor video resolution and performance.
After searching for about 2 hours and trying all kinds of Nvidia x64 drivers to no avail, removing and trying to autodetect the card to no avail, using the Nvidia Automatic Detection tool to no avail, eventually I found out the hardware ID of the Video card (in Hardware Manager) was:
[DEV_0299&SUBSYS_019B1028] NVIDIA Quadro NVS 510M
Strange was that an Nvidia Quadro NVS 510M was obviously identified (and not the 7900 GTX that also shows up in the BIOS).
After finding that out, I was able to locate the correct video driver:
Installing that configured the Video Driver correctly.
It now shows up as a Quadro NVS 510M but works brilliantly.
Wanted to share this info with all of you, so that you don't have to go through this like me..
Best regards,

No, but you can install Windows 2003 64 bit drivers on the server. You will need to install the Windows 7 64 bit equivalent of the driver on your PC.

I see no evidence of the "atapi" infection. What led you to that conclusion? Is your browser being redirected? You are infected though.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

There are numerous threads with the same issue online, but none of the solutions have worked for me, so I'm posting my own. I did contact Microsoft and Lenovo, but Lenovo is asking for money that I can't afford for tech support, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
Here's the situation:
I have a Lenovo Y510P that came with Windows 8.1. Half a year later, I'm sick of 8.1 and want to downgrade to Windows 7 (I know that simulation softwares like ClassicShell and such exist, but I would really rather just use Windows 7).
I downloaded a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and burned it onto a DVD disk.
I also downloaded all of the Windows 7 device drivers from this Lenovo site: Laptops and netbooks :: IdeaPad Y Series laptops :: IdeaPad Y510p Notebook - Lenovo Support (US)
^I had to specify the model number and OS, so I'm hoping I downloaded the correct drivers (all of the drivers are .exe format, is that what it's supposed to look like?)
I put all of the drivers onto a flash drive.
So, I am now equipped with a DVD with Windows 7 on it as well as a flash drive with all of the drivers on it.
I boot from the disk with the DVD and flash drive attached. Windows 7 installation begins and here I get the error, 'no device drivers found.' When I click 'browse', I see that the flash drive is recognized, but the files on it aren't.
What do you guys think the issue is??

A:'No device drivers found' error Windows 8.1 -> Windows 7 downgrade ins

Why would you do all that? Win7 is a driver-complete OS in the installer and via Windows Updates after install. Providing a bunch of drivers is from the XP era.

You only need the wireless driver in your backup so if it isn't provided during reinstall, you can install it to get online, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3), then run all Important and Optional Windows Updates which should deliver most drivers. I would only import drivers still missing after all rounds of Windows Update are finished.

For a Win8 PC there are special steps that must be taken to disable Secure Boot and enable CSM or Legacy BIOS to Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7. Then when you boot the installer to do the Clean Install Windows 7 delete all partitions using the Drive Options shown in Steps 7 and 8, create and format new as you wish, install to first partition.

Other tips to get and keep a perfect Win7 install are same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
