Need suggestions on a Mini ITX 1155 board replacement.

Q: Need suggestions on a Mini ITX 1155 board replacement.

About a month ago my main board (GA-Z77X-UD3H) started to fail for some odd reason and ive been wanting to replace it since, but now ive beought myself a mini itx RVZ01 case and SFX-L power supply to make a small gaming oriented build and finally replace my motherboard, but i cant seem to make up my mind on which motherboard to buy, having in mind that im running on a gtx 670 and an i5 3570k processor, which is not that powerfull for todays standars, and i dont want to waste a lot of money.

My initial thoughts were on buying this motherboard
Amazon.com: ASUS DDR3 Intel Z77 2400 Socket Motherboard P8Z77-I DELUXE/WD: Computers & Accessories

but then again ive found a lot of cheap options like this
Amazon.com: ASUS P8H61-I R2.0 LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard: Computers & Accessories

My main concern is that the cheap alternatives wont keep up with the gpu and cpu and i dont plan on making any serious upgrades since i would have to replace the entire pc components for it to be worth the huge next gen investment. (EDIT) Ill post my original specs somewhere; not using win 7 anymore btw.

So my question is: Any suggestions? What should i buy? (having in mind that im using an 1155lga cpu and a mini itx case) Im looking for anything under 200$ but when it comes to choosing i simply cant make up my mind and would really appreciate some help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just bought and installed the Asus P8H61-I R2.0 board to build a new system using some old parts I had lying around (an i3-2100 cpu and 4GB of DDR3 memory.
It is very impressive board, and Asus has an excellent reputation.

One thing about this MB, it only has one expansion slot (a PCIe x16) so you can add your graphics card if you want but that's it.

I think i read somewhere that the two chips are the same size, does that mean i can keep my i5 750 and update to a new asus lga1155 board? or would it not be possible?
only built the current rig about 5 months ago so dont have the money to upgrade cpu at the moment, tho a mobo upgrade would be nice, prefferably one that supports asus' efi bios

A:Solved: LGA 1156 on a LGA 1155 board possible?

No, the pin count is different, even though they are the same size.

Hey guys, new to the board although i been in the BSOD thread for awhile now trying to fix BSOD issues but ive come to the conclusion its my MB and here is my current MB also btw.

Newegg.com - ASUS P8P67 DELUXE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Here is the 1 im looking at right now.

Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Here is my system specs as of right now.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
BIOS Date: 02/05/10 19:13:52 Ver: 08.00.10
Corsair Vengance 16gb 4x4
WDC WD5000AAKX-001CA0 ATA Device
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Hopefully i posted right info that u need to help with the choice. Mainly i want the efi bios for simplicity for me and rig is mainly for gaming so want a stable MB i can OC pretty easly cuz my current 1 i cant seem to OC at all even though its supported, i never manually tried OC just the auto/turbo OC settings built in and it seems when those are on i get alot more crashes/BSOD. when off there very very rare.

Well ty in advance for any input on a good stable MB and if any more info is needed i will post back. As of right now i just got approved for a RMA on my MB and will be sending it back tomorrow or day after but while its being RMA i would like to go ahead and place order for another so i dont have to wait as long so again ty for any input.

A:Trying to decide on new Motherboard for replacement 1155.

I have the latter and I am liking it, it overclocks nicely and is stable. But what the Z68 has above the P67 is the integrated graphics and the Hybrid SSD Smart response technology. Do you think you would use either? Probably not. So I would base my decision on other features like the peripheral connections and the price.

The VRM power deliver system is a bit different. The P67 has 16 CPU phases, the Z68 has 12 CPU + 4 iGPU phases. I doubt it would make any difference unless you did an *extreme* overclock.

You can get that front panel USB box for the Z68 for $30 from Asus if that matters (the Z68 has one for the back panel).

The P67 has been around longer (it has 10 BIOS revisions - yikes!), and it doesn't even appear on the Asus USA listing of P67 boards. That might only mean they are not organized. Their BIOS notes indicate that they will support Ivy bridge on it.

Frankly, the UEFI interface doesn't do much for me. Sure it is nice to be able to use a mouse, but it is also easy to get around with the keyboard and you won;t really spend that much time in the BIOS (after playing around for a while )

BTW, the first Z68 I got had a motherboard issue with graphics interfering with sound. The second is great. I think, from any vendor and any model there can be problems - perhaps due to shipping and handling - I don't know (but just look at the newegg reviews). I got mine from Amazon, and if you get a faulty one, they will ship you a replacement and you don't have to retu... Read more

A:Good mid-range to high-end Intel LGA 1155 motherboard suggestions

The best board I've used thus far -a combination of stability, feature set, ease of use and overclock ability would be the Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3. It features a PLX bridge chip which allows use of virtually all features concurrently ( the third PCIe x16 @ x4 isn't downgraded to x1 for instance if you use most/all of the SATA 6Gb/USB3.0 ports).
If you don't need a full-size board then the ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 at around $180 might make some appeal. Both these boards have no facility for video-out (no onboard HDMI, DP, DVI, D-Sub) - not a great concern for most people looking at Z68 boards.

Word of warning: Z77 boards are reportedly due for release on 8th April. While they will offer very little (if anything) over Z68 boards, it will mean that Z68 board prices will take a nosedive. My advice if you need a board right now and want to save some cash, would be to pick up a functional and well regarded cheap board such as the P8Z68-V/G3 (which still a very nice board) and maybe look to replace it with one of the top-end boards which will surely drop in price. It does mean that you would have the hassle of finding a buyer for a board, but on the plus side you may find yourself happy with the P8Z68-V.

You'll notice that all the selections are Asus based products. Asus -at least for Z68, seems to be putting out the best boards overall. Some other vendors are having QC problems. Gigabyte, which are normally my first choice in mobo making, have some infuria... Read more

well guys its been years since I'v been here, and far have i come since that time too. well hears my question for yall. I currently have an old acer htpc that iv taken apart and have the mobo and all laying on my desk and actually prefer to run it like that. but this girl is getting slow and old and what i was wondering . is can I swap out the cpu and mobo? I wanna get a MINI ITX asus board thats an LGA 1150 socket and get an intel chip going and get the power supply adapter to go from my acers 20pin psu to the new boards 24pin PSU connection requirement. WHEN i go to swap in the new mobo and cpu can i just plug up my hardrive to this new mobo and it all just work like the old computer does, because it technically has it a mobo and cpu now. or is it more complex that just unplug and plug in the new components. i wanna just change out the board and cpu thats all.and still be able to use my hardrive and my windows .

Hey guys, I was looking at redoing a build as a mini-itx so it would be more in the question to carry it somewhere if need be. This is my alternative to getting a laptop as a primary computer and ill be gettiing some sort of cheap portable tablet/laptop for college work.
So I was looking for mini-ITX cases that would be best for my situation. Alot of them are cube-like and im not a fan. I would prefer something that I could put my xbox on top or vica versa. Not that id definately be doing that but thats generally what form factor I want. I also need to be able to fit like at most a GTX 770 in it. I know thats asking alot but alot of the cube cases can do it...
all mini-itx cases ive really seen are too slim or to cube like and that makes it feel clunky to move anywhere. Id really like to have the most efficient PC case possible. Ive got a corsair c70 build right now and it just doesnt work at college as well as id want.

Oh yea. my budget is at max $75.

Looking further im starting to think I won't be able to get a build small enough for what im looking for. and I guess thats understandable.

I guess I should say my PSU budget is $70 so it either needs to support a normal PSU or have a smaller one in that price range and wattage/amperage that can run a non overclocked i5 and a GTX 770.

A:mini-ITX case suggestions

I am doing a second mini-itx and the case does not seem to be working. the first case is no longer available - I posted pics here - it was all acrylic/clear - over the long term, it turns out that the acrylic broke at the power-on button and where the power supply meets the back of the case.

You might want to look at some that are for video - they have a low, flat profile like a DVD player.

You can get one that will accommodate a pico-psu power supply. This is a laptop-style power supply, with a barrel connector to connect to the computer.

This connection needs to be figured out before ordering parts. The right pico-psu will connect right into the ATX power supply plug, just like the plug coming out of a regular ATX power supply. But the barrel connection needs to be supported by the case.

I have done a lot of research into AM2 boards, including here, but there is so much to consider I could use some help in finding a good board. A number of them seem to be picky about RAM while some others have issues with certain X2 cores.

Why AM2? To take advantage of AMD's huge price drop in their X2 chips. He figures with what it will be used for it should last him for some time, thus the need desire for a solid, steady and reliable motherboard.

I did look seriously into the Asus M2N-E nForce 570 Ultra MCP but I have read online of MANY people having issues with this board even at stock settings.

Desired Parameters:

1. Buget: $75 - $125

2. No onboard video.

3. Can do at least 8 Gigs of RAM (for the future); but 4 Gigs is definitely doable.

On my gateway laptop, my internet connection will work for about 5 or 10 mins. Then out of the blue, my computer will lock up for about a min and my Orinoco mini PCI card goes dead. When I mouse over the icon, I get "wireless network card not operational".

Usually after about 2 mins, my laptop functions again, but without and internet connection. I can still see all the wireless networks available.

Any ideas? Thanks!

A:On board Orinoco mini PCI card

First, see if there is a firmware upgrade for the network card... or gateway drivers changes.

The Orinoco chipset is used in a great number of laptops. Many came with the older drivers or firmware. You can usually download drivers from the Orinoco site if not from the Gateway site. You Uncompress them to a folder on your leaptop, then Go to into the control panel, Select System, Under the hardware tab click the device manager button, Right-click on the ORiNOCO mini PCI Card under the network adapters, select Update Drivers from the context menu. Next, select Install from list or specific location. Now select Don't Search. I will select the driver to install. Click Have Disk. Navigate to the folder where you uncompressed your drivers, then select WLAGSALL.INF
Click Open and ignore warnings.
When the drivers are completed, reboot.

If this doesn't work, you may have a failed unit.

Evening, all

I bought an interesting little Single Board Computer as an mITX motherboard (a WADE-8020, more info at the link below):

I have another similar board in an old Hoojum Cubit 3 case, and was wondering if anyone might have any other suggestions for a similarly eye-catching case, probably ready-made, though I'm not averse to either buying a DIYed case, or maybe trying to make one myself (I have a Dremel but not much else, and that includes skill )

I have a proboards message board on one website, and it has always been reliable, but it gets nearly no traffic.  10 posts in a year would be a huge amount.
I am planning to make another message board for a different purpose.  But this board would have a lot more sections and subsections, even more than this website, and if it catches on, quite a bit of traffic too.
So I'd like to get some ideas on a message board program that can take the volume and traffic, and what else do I need to consider?  Bandwidth limits?  Getting a hosting account with more storage space on it?
Can I have the message board program on my web hosting account all by itself, or do I need to make a simple one page website with its own index page to base the board off of?
I'm guessing I'd have to make a simple one page site with the FORUMS link at the top.
Any suggestions?

The laptop will be mainly used for viewing PPT presentations, some internet surfing, Word processing, etc.

Is the above laptop a good choice? What are the other options for him in the lightweight laptops range? His budget is around $650 (35000 INR).

Edit: Please mention the price of the laptop(s) you recommend.

Samsung NC10 (top rated)
Advent 4211c

Neither have a CD drive but both are superb. You can always add a slimline external CD/DVD drive later powered by a USB port. If lightweight is paramount it's about the only way to go.

I personally have the Advent 4211c and it will do all you say including playing videos and DVD's with no problems. Both these Netbooks have the Intel Atom processor and both are highly recommended. They are not short on extras either, check them out via Google.

A local computer repair shop is the best bet, but for a computer that old, it will probably cost more than it is worth.  Best option is to salvage the data from the hard drive onto a working PC.  Easiest way to do that is to remove the hard drive from the old Pavilion A6400 and connect it to a working PC.  If it is just to retrieve the data, an adapter similar to this will work nicelyhttps://www.amazon.com/AGPtek-Drive-Adapter-Converter-External/dp/B00BIE996S/ref=pd_sim_147_2?_encod...

Last night I tried to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop. I bought the replacement part from an Ebay store, and it is still under warranty (90 days). After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth. The battery light came on, so far so good. Then we hit the power button and...nothing happened. Well almost nothing. The machine appeared to turn on. All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on, but that's it. The fan didn't start, the monitor didn't start. The hard drive light was on but didn't appear to be reading at all. (i.e. no blinking or noise.) I'm quite perplexed. Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip, which we weren't exactly sure whether to put back in over, under, or through the disk drive data cable. We eventually put it through. For instructions and pictures of the process, check out link:

Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly. We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places. What could be causing this? I have an old Gateway P5-133 computer with an Evergreen MX-Pro 200 cpu upgrade on an American Megatrends system board.
I was in the process of upgrading it with a larger hard drive, WinME, a couple of USB ports, potentially more RAM etc. and was experiencing intermittent episodes of it not booting up. My new machine's monitor, which I used while working on this old POS, was saying there is no video signal coming from the old computer. A new video adapter produced the same message, so I am assuming the system board croaked. It did boot fine following the installation of the new HD and ME.
What would be a suitable replacement if you would be so kind as to enlighten me? I can return the PCI Video and USB adapters but not the Maxtor 80GB Ultra ATA/133 drive and ME.

A:Replacement System Board

Welcome to TSG! As far as a replacement board, you are probably wasting your time. My suggestion would be to keep the video you bought, the hard drive and the floppy. The rest is very outdated. Your board is a socket 5 board with no real replacement out there. The case and power supply will be of no use on a newer board (probably an AT form factor). The evergreen chip will only fit a socket 5 board and you can go much much faster with a low end $30 duron processor. The memory is probably 70ns dram and will not be able to be used in a newer board. Not really much you can save. Your choices are to look at used computer shops for an old socket 5 board or to shell out a couple of bucks for a bare bones system.

Hey there,

First off i'll post my specs as specified on the sticky guide

1. Motherboard - Asus P6T Deluxe
2. Graphic interface - PCIe
3. Memory - 3GB 1600mhz OCZ Gold
4. CPU - Intel i7 920
5. CPU Speed - stock
6. Power Supply Make/Model - Not too sure, Hi-Power or something i think
7. Watt output/Amperage - 800w, it says +12v1 to +12v4 so i guess this means 4 rails? Each one says 20Amp each

Basically i bought a new system at the start of the year and its been brilliant so far. A few months ago though i started to get random freezing and crashes which i suspected to be the graphics card which was a ATI Radeon 4870x2. My suspicions were proved correct when 2 weeks ago it went insane and gave me all sorts or issues. I sent it back however the supplier cannot get a hold of the card to replace so i'm getting a refund of about Ģ345.

I'm normally alright at deciding what to go for but this time i'm struggling to choose and was wondering if you could help. The 4870x2's performance was brilliant but it was rather hot and loud when it had to work. I had actaully planned to get the 3rd party cooler for it before it died (http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/ultragrade/ac-acc-xtreme-4870x2).

Looking now the choice bewteen high end cards seems to be bewtween the GTX 295 or ATI 5870. I know the 5870 is dx11 ready but im really not bothered about that, by the time thats big the cards for it will probably be much cheaper anyway, what i... Read more

A:Suggestions of replacement for 4870 X2 (if any)

I recommend buying this card. You will be able to run anything maxed out at any resolution upto 1920x1200, and you can throw in another one later if you feel you need the extra performance.

Your PSU may need to be replaced however; two HD 5850s will be too much for it to handle methinks, especially if its build quality is not upto the mark. Can you get any further details on it if possible?

Your other choice is to grab a GTX 295; that will rip through anything you throw at it, and it's an excellent choice for resolutions all the way upto 2560x1600. The only con I see is heavy dependence on good driver support, since SLI performance is heavily dependent on well-written drivers.

I had advice a while ago for a custom-built PC from Computer Planet, and a year on a few components are now unavailable, so I need to find replacements.

I'm still looking for something that will primarily be an audio workstation (I'll be buying Native Instruments "Komplete", which is huge, and very resource-heavy by the looks of it), but I will also want to be gaming, with the likes of the Elder Scrolls games modded, one of the more recent Civilization games, the latest Football Manager, modded Minecraft, and maybe some of the latest games on decent settings (so the GPU would need to be really good). The price started at ?1500 but then came down to ?1100, where I'd like to keep it if possiblte.

recently i posted in this forum that my PSU blew up.
from the responses i got here, apparently my mobo got fried as well.

now, i am on a VERY tight budget, and i canīt afford to get new processor, gpu etc.,
i can only replace my psu and my mobo.

so i have a Radeon 4670 HD, 2x DDR2 1gb ram, and a AMD athlon 64 5600+ processor.
what mobo can i get which is the equivalent or better than my old mobo (Asus M2N4-SLI)
that can support everything that i already have? and also a similar PSU.

Also, someone told me in this forum that the only way i can check if my HD and other stuff got burned is by testing them on another machine. but is it possible in any way to check it without another pc? i dont have any money to spend right now, and i need to check if itīs 100% that i wonīt have to replace anything else on my pc.

Thanks guys!!! my pc is burned for 2 weeks now, and i work with my pc... so two weeks without working, i am desperate...

This seems like a very decent motherboard and should suit your needs.

replacement printer

I had several HP printers, and they're ok, but there are some better ones out there. My latest printer is a Canon i860. It does a great job on text and cranks out really nice quality photos so its an all around good machine. One nice thing about it is that each color cartridge is independent of the others so you only replace the ones that run out. My experience so far has been that they all run out around the same time, so I don't know if that's a real benefit or not. I know that waterproof inks are available for the printer, so you don't have to worry about pictures being damaged by water.
One odd thing about the printer is that it sits and whirrs and clicks and makes all kinds of sounds before it starts a print job.

A freind has an Epson, though I don't know the model. It does a pretty nice job on photos as well. But even with the odd warm-up of the Canon, its my choice.

If you've noticed though, printers are a heck of a deal. You can get incredible ability in a printer for less than $200. They can practically give them away because you have to buy ink for them. My sister-in-law bought a small Epson printer that actually cost less than the ink cartridges it took! I think the real money for the manufacturers is in the cartridges.

hi there,

I recently downloaded and have been using Webroot's Spysweeper software and have been very impressed. Unfortunately the trial product has now expired and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a shareware product that is as good as this that i could download and run as a replacement. I would buy Spysweeper...but my cash flow situation is not at its best.

A:Suggestions for replacement software

If you are running XP or Windows 2000 you can use the Microsoft? Windows AntiSpyware (Beta). It is comparable to SpySweeper but only seems to check the system files when you do a scan. However it runs in the background and will protect your computer from browser hijackers and the like. There is always AdAware and Spybot also. They should be used in conjunction with any antispyware/adware product.

[Problem Description]
PC won't boot. Power (when connected to everything) only powers up motherboard and any cards attached to it. IDE drives show no sign of life.
However, if you disconnect IDE cables from the motherboard the IDE drives come to life.
If you disconnect power from the motherboard, and hotwire the motherboard power plug, the IDE drives will power up.

Tried motherboard with 3 different power supplies, same problem with all of them. Can't check CPU as don't have any other boards. Memory is fine, or appears to be as changing them made no difference.

Tried the board without any PCI (except agp graphics) cards plugged in, still had the same problem.

Not sure what else to do.

I moved to London from Melbourne Australia and had to get my PC shipped over. I would have taken it on board as hand luggage, but i wasn't allowed, so I had to have it freighted over as excess baggage on another flight.
It had plenty of padding so I thought it would be fine. It looks as though everything was fine except for what appears to be one largish dimple in the cardboard where it looks like it hit something. So there is a possibility of damage.

Any ideas anyone? I probably should have posted this under didou... Read more

You might try a different IDE cable. Don't know why shipping should create a problem but that would be my next quick try.

I have an e7450 that has had what I believe to be a system board failure. It is out of warranty so I am looking at replacing the system board myself. The part number is CN-0Y15C1-12963-54I-  A0EF  REV A00.
I believe the original unit has an i5-5300U. Most of the replacement boards I'm finding online have an i7-5600U.
Will there be an issue using the different processor if the board is still the same?

My original setup included an onboard videocard which copes fine with XP cannot cope with Windows 7 - apart from at the lowest resolution. I am not a gamer but would like advice on upgrading my video card. If I install a new card will I need to disable the old onboard card? If so how do I do this. What type of new card would be suitable foe Windows 7 - bearing in mind that I'm not a gamer, but enjoy watching videos, jpeg files etc. Any other issues I should be aware of? Thanks for any advice!

I don't think the model will matter, however, mine is a Pavilion Slimline s5510f. With thanks from this forum, I have determined that I need to replace my mother board.  I have found HP support documentation on how to replace the mother board, but that leaves the question as to whether I have to do any type of programming of the new mother board or is the MB more or less a plug and play? Thanks for any help.

A:mother board replacement and programming?

Hi, Actually you can't do anything with motherboard (only updating BIOS which is still in the hands of vendors). What you see is what you get or using your terms: it is a plug-and-play part. Regards.

I recently RMA'd my evga 7800gt for major artifacting problems to newegg. They no longer have this card and are offering me the BFG 7800GT
link here
as a replacement. As an alternative, I can get $280 back and look for another card. I am just looking for some advice as to what to do.

I was happy with my evga7800 until it failed. Now I have a new widescreen monitor (1600x1050 native) that I haven't even gotten to try yet because it came on the same day I sent my video card back. So I want to make sure that whatever I get will run this monitor without any problems. I would expect the BFG to run it OK...can anyone confirm this? I also like the VIVO feature, but would consider a card without it if you think it's worth it.

I was also considering sticking with EVGA because of their supposedly good customer support, but it looks like it's a gamble to get a 7900 these days, so I may go with the BFG. Plus, according to newegg's pricing, it looks like I'd be getting the best bang for my buck by doing a direct exchange for the BFG...7900GT's list for $230 and up after rebates, and the BFG 7800GT is $299. Not sure if price is the best indication of value here though. I also don't want to wait a few weeks for the 7900 problems to be resolved.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

A:Looking for suggestions for a replacement video card

I'd be tempted to take the money and go after a 7900gt, I see one here for $236 after rebate, and you might as well get a better card. Dunno about the whole vivo thig though, what's it for? I'm guessing you just want the card to play games?

I would like to ask for suggestions to replace M$ Outlook, but there are a few requirements:
1.  Must be free.
2.  The send/receive process must be a two step process, like this:
2.1.  Type up e-mail, and click send.  The e-mail is then in the outbox (queued) waiting to be sent.
2.2.  I click send/receive, and then the e-mail is sent, and incoming e-mails are received.
3.  It must be able to handle multiple e-mail accounts.
4.  Must be able to be selective on send/receive.  What I mean by this, is that individual accounts can be set to send, receive, or send and receive, like in Outlooks send/receive groups.
5.  Must be able to read e-mails in plain text.
6.  Must have filtering ability.  I mean for example, if it has words "X", "Y" or "Z" are in the text, I can send it to mailbox/folder (whatever).
7.  Web based email isn't an option.
8.  M$ Live Essentials isn't an option.
9.  Mozilla Thunderbird isn't an option.  This is because, I already use Mozilla Thunderbird for RSS feeds, and I don't want my e-mail and RSS feeds to be handled by the same program.  The program I used before for RSS feeds hasn't been updated since 2008.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Have a great day!

As to Thunderbird, it just may be an option........See if this might be a viable option for you: http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/set-separate-copies-thunderbird-windows-7/
It would entail your having to create a new profile. A click on a created shortcut would allow you to select which Thunderbird to open.

Hey so my charger broke pretty quick and was way too short in the first place. I've bought non-brand replacements for samsung tablets but they don't charge fast enough to have any effect if the laptop is turned on, so it only prolongs usage until the battery runs out.
I've only found one website that offers a toshiba brand replacement charger but there are no product descriptions or images so I don't know what I'm buying, and searching the product name gives me no info.
Where is a reliable place to order a replacement charger that will actually work?

Off-post topic I worry there may be something wrong with the actual battery life as it often shows incorrect battery percentages, and just now on a supposed 50% ot has turned off and will not turn back on - is this something that can be covered under a warranty?

Ok so the wife needed a laptop for school and we are on shoe string budget I got her a dell mini because she liked the size and it was under 50$. I figure you can't go wrong. Looking for programs I should load, hardware to add, should I use Xp home are there other better options
I use vista on the home desktop and have no issues just looking for general input trying to make it better than new. Any input would be awesome.

A:OS INSTALL Dell Inspiron mini intell atom Xp home any suggestions?

<<...just looking for general input trying to make it better than new>>
There are only two things that come to mind for purchasers of OEM (Dell, Lenovo, etc.) systems:
   a.  If you have a legitimate, licensed version of Windows lying around unused...do a clean install and rid yourself of the additional junk which OEMs install.
   b.  Install the maximum amount of RAM which the system will accommodate.

My X1 died on me and, according to the sheet of paper that came back from the repair center, had its system board replaced. Unfortunately, when booting, I get a prompt for a bitlocker recovery key - and the key I have (confirmed with Microsoft) is not working. The key id shown on the recovery screen is also different. I've spent about 40 minutes on the phone now with Lenovo support, and haven't gotten anywhere - how can I get back into my machine? It would appear that, since the hard drive was not replaced, I should still be able to get in with my existing key, or am I missing something there?
