HP Pavilion x2 Detachable P0H65EA#ABU memory card/ micro SD ...

Q: HP Pavilion x2 Detachable P0H65EA#ABU memory card/ micro SD ...

Hi, I am having issues with my micro SD card vanishing. Purchased end of May and spend so many hours trying everything thinking it was me. I have never had any issues with my SD cards in either HTC one phone or a Acer aspire one, which I broke its screen in May reason for the purchase. My acer I pimped it with 250gb SSD and 2 GB and had no real issues, had enough space for most of my 36GB music and had a external USB HD for films and more music. Now I am getting so fustrated trying to play a few albums form SD. I had to play from my phone last month when I was on holiday as this device cant keep the SD mounted. WHy have B+O when you cant play anything. At the moment Tried1) numerous SD cards 32 to 128GB 2) Deleting the SD card driver and installing3) Installing all the newest drivers on the HP website.4) Upgraded bios to F.115) Undertaking a factory reset.6) Sending it back to PC world for repair and lost the unit for a week and its the same. Just got a new one (thank you PC world for offering the exchange when its over 21 days) and this unit has just done the same, my SD card vanished. Its gone from grove player, windows media player and file explorer. If I take the SD card out the unit plays the unmount sound, so its there but windows simply looses it. Pop it back in and windows chirps up and all is good for a unpredictable amount of time. Its like if I play music and surf, it gets confused and simply drops the SD slot. When I have 32GB of albums remounting simply takes such a long time to refresh the library in wmp. I cant believe that a new system has such a massive bug especially when we need the SD slot on such a lacking memory device. Also Grove player has some play back sound issues, possibly a cashing issue or interface streaming with the SD card. I have 19 days left to get this sorted, if not I guess PC world will be getting another HP device back and Im now looking at a different device or get my old acer repaired, at least this is stable.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello @jaz4uk, Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are still having trouble with the Micro SD card vanishing. It seems like you went through many troubleshooting steps already. The only solution I can think for you to try at this point, is to restore the BIOS to its default settings. You can use the following document to do so: HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS If that does not work, and the notebook will not work as you like, then you may consider returning it to the place of purchase. I hope this helps. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for. I have amicro sd memory card which has been working fine in my new phone, yyesterday i removed it to put into my old phone and it will not show up as a meory card. I have inserted the car5d into a SD card so that i can connect it to my pc using a card reader, and it is not recognised as card being in the drive. I have many old memories of my daughter for the past two years and i think i have lost all data on this card, please please please could anyone help me try and rescue any data if possible??

A:HELP with micro sd memory card

The microSD card happens to be 4 GB or more in capacity? Your old phone and your computer's memory card reader just happen to only support the old regular SD cards, not 4+GB SDHC cards. Get a new card reader if you want to retvieve the data. Go to newegg, read reviews, and.. Err. Just forget it, I remember there being a good reader with reviews saying it supported HC and it was cheap, wait a sec...

I want to get an SD memory card for my digital camera

I can get a class 4 Micro SDHC Memory Card for the same price
I've loads of SD adapters lying around so can use the smaller one with my digital camera

Will I have any problems doing this??
i.e. get the smaller memory card and use in my camera with the adapter?
Then I have the freedom of using it with my mobile phone if I every needed to

Is there any effect in the speed - the fact that we're using through an adapter?

Thanks!

Hi, I've been making audio recordings of my piano playing for an audition, and I used a ZOOM Q2HD (with a Micro SD memory card) to record myself playing. However, the laptop was not able to detect the memory card. It said "There's nothing to import. We couldn't find anything to import from that device. Make sure that it's unlocked, then try again." The zoom recorder was unlocked and turned on, so I don't get why it couldn't detect anything... And I know that it's the memory card that's not working, and the Zoom recorder is working fine, because I tried another memory card with the same Zoom recorder and my laptop was able to detect everything. Any suggestions?

I have a Nokia N95 and unfortunately files I had on my memory card vanished over night however they were still using up memory on the card.

I used software called "CardRecovery" which managed to find all of the files I needed so I proceeded to save the files which included jpeg's and also video files.

However when I opened up the jpeg's they are alot smaller compared to the other images I have taken with my Nokia and the video files dont seem to open up either.

I compared the recovered images to images I have taken in the past and here is the difference.

Normal Photos using N95 ------------------- Recovered photos using N95
WIDTH : 2592 pixels ------------------------ WIDTH : 170 pixels
HEIGHT : 1944 pixels ----------------------- HEIGHT : 128 pixels
HORIZONTAL RESOLUTION : 300dpi ---- HORIZONTAL RES : 96dpi
VERTICAL RESOLUTION : 300dpi -------- VERTICAL RES. : 96dpi

anyone know how to sort this as I'm desperate to get the images and video files back to the way they once were as they were from a recent holiday.

Thanks

Hello Talhaayyan,

Usually a micro SD card will have a write protection switch on the side of it like below that you move up or down to turn write protection on or off.

I have just bought this lkaptop and the hardware is nice, but I do not want to run Windows. Simple, I thought, as it's a PC, I'll just install Ubuntu. Well, the boot from USB is UEFI and that is a bit of a pain to set up, and I can't get it to work. The Ubuntu 14 install disk I burnt is an EFI boot CD and it simply fails to boot. Using the F9 option I get aBoot device failed message in white text on a blue screen. When I try to boot through the boot menus I get a missing file at \ubuntu\winboot\. I have just created a Windows recovery disk and that seems to boot fine. It looks like the BIOS/UEFI is set up to only allow Windows to boot. I've bought a USB DVD drive and failed to boot from that, also two memory sticks and a HDD. So, questions, before I put the laptop in the bin: 1. Has anyone else got Linux onto this device and if so what image and procedure did you use to get the install to work? 2 Is there a way to get legacy mode booting set up in the BIOS (The BIOS mentions legacy support in the screens but its not there).  Andrew

A:Linux on HP Pavilion x2 detachable PC 10

It seems that the hp x2 has a 32 bit uefi. So you'll need a 32bit uefi boot loader. Most distros I've seen just ship the 64 bit bootloader. There's a guy at debian who is trying to support this kind of thing - He's working on a netinst image for deb8. The current image he's published so far boots, but I can't get networking to work. Here's his blog (other good stuff there):http://blog.einval.com/debian/CDs Here's the deb image:http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/efi-development/jessie-upload3.Hth /markus

Hi this is my first post. Had this 2 in one for about a week, replacing a 4 year old acer aspire one netbook D270 which had upgraded SSD and over 8 hr battery life. I dropped it and cracked the screen but it was a great little device I used all the time. There is a lot to like with this unit, but a few things are a little fustrating. 1) Lost thunderbird and opera from taskbar for no apparent reason. I pin something I expect it to stay.2) I keep on deleting the HP help from taskbar as it keeps on showing a massive ? on the task bar but no new info, but afrer reboot its back showing help but nothing new. I dont want it.3) Inconsistent when I undock screen, I loose all input on the touch screen? Dock it back all is fine. This cant be right.4) Open some webpages no touch screen?.5)  I Keep on loosing SD card, even during playing music, suddenly stops and no SD. Pop it out and it makes unmounts noise, pop it back in all is fine for a short time like 2 songs then stops again saying file can not be found. Replaced the SD card and same issues. Are these known issues or something with my device. Jas

Hi there @bfeliciano86,  Before I provide troubleshooting documentation, I would like to take a minute to welcome you to the HP Support Community, where you can ask questions, find solutions and get help from others! I will do my absolute best to help you resolve the issue you are having with the black screen on your HP Pavilion x2 Notebook PC.  Note: please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. As silly as it sounds, did you happen to try removing dust from the cooling areas in a notebook?Have you connected the Notebook to an external monitor or TV? If you remove the notebook battery, plug the AC power cable back into the notebook, then turn it on, does it power the Notebook? Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset?Have you tried performing a hard reset?Have you tried to see if you can test for hardware failures? If the computer is on, do you hear the fan running? If so, but the display remains blank, please see Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank. If you require further assistance, I would be more than happy to help! Please just re-post with the information required from above. Pleas... Read more

I purchased my laptop on 11/6/15 from Best Buy. When it is plugged in, it works fine but the battery was not charging. Unfortunately for me, it is now 1 1/2 months out of warranty. I brought it into Best Buy to have the battery replaced and it was sent to their servicing center. I just received a call from them telling me that my issue is Not my battery but with something on the motherboard that controls how the battery charges and the entire board needs to be replaced and it is going to cost me just as much to replace it as I paid for my laptop. This is absolutely obsurd!! The laptop is only 13 months old and has never been mishandled. When making the decision to buy a new laptop, I chose HP because I had such good luck with my old one that was 10 years old. Has HP quality gone downhill? And on top of it all, when I went to submit a question about this to HP support, it comes up with my laptop being out of warranty since August 2016 which less than a 1 year warranty. Now Im left with the decision to repair my 13 month old laptop and still have no protection if something else breaks or buy a new one with protection for the same price.

My pavilion is not respoinding properly. 1 month ago, the laptop/tablet locked after a hardware issue and needed a bitlocker key to open it. After some time finding it and a few problems from microsoft, the laptop was in working order as of yesterday. However, the audio was missing (I assume that's why the laptop locked itself?? I'm not a large techy person!). As I could not restore the audio, I decided to do a reset with files still intact. This got to 44% and then came up with a response along the lines of; "Cannot reset due to an issue. Please try again later." This led me back to two options; revert back and load windows 10 or to retry. I retried a few more times with the same error message and two options. I'd decided after that not working, I'd try and revert back and reload windows 10. After this, the only thing my laptop now does is load the HP symbol, move to a black screen and repeat. I've tried hard resets and attempting to diagnose the problem with F2, yet this did not help at all as all 'passed' bar the audio which could not be detected. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Hi, Following the failure of the free upgrade process to Windows 10 on my Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns, I have been trying to restore from a USB boot media (16Gb Sandisk USB key) created with the Windows Media Creation Tool (on another machine) I have been unable to get the Hp Pavilion x2 Detachable 10-n002ns to boot from any other media at all: I have tried:both DVD media and USB media, made with a variety of tools on both Windows (Windows Media Creation Tool, Rufus, LiLi) and Linux (Brasero, UNetBootIn, dd, Linux Mint USB Image Writer)Creating bootable media with settings for MBR and GPT partitions, for UEFI or regular BIOS.Booting to a variety of Ubuntu variant Live CDs (in order to check it wasn't just a problem with Windows)Secure Boot enabled (when booting Windows media) and Secure Boot disabled (when booting Linux)All variations of Boot Order in the BIOS.As you can see in the image, there is no Legacy Boot option in the BIOS, and I have been unable to get any media to boot at all. Since the failed Win 10 update, the computer is now unusable. Product Number is N3W80EQ#ABEBIOS version is F.04 (I downloaded BIOS version F.05 from the HP website but was unable to get a FreeDOS bootable disk to be recognised) I'm fairly sure there is a problem with the BIOS and UEFI boot. I note that this has been concluded elsewhere also. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Windows/Fresh-install-Win-8-1-Pro-into-Pavilion-X2-10-quot-32GB/td-p/48.... Read more

This is a brand new machine as my previous machine was replaced by HP for the same reason. I turn the machine on and it immediately goes to BitLocker recovery.I do not want a repeat of last month' s **bleep**-ups, whereby I lost all my data on my previous new machine and was then sent a replacement machine in a process that took over two weeks.I spent two hours on Tuesday with HP post sales support sorting out the Office 365 licence issues caused by the last occurrence of this BitLocker issue. Why is this occurring, how can it be fixed, and who at HP will sort it out?

Had this laptop for about 4 months, only use it for writing using Word, we don't store photos, music etc.  All we have are word documents and the only things we installed are Bitdefender and Office. This laptop has a 30gb hard drive as standard but we bought the one from HP that also has an additional 1TB drive.  Despite telling the system to save and install all things to the larger drive, the smaller one is constantly getting full and not letting us do anything.  When we go in to storage and try to delete all the temp files (about 3gb) it just sits there and doesn't delete anything. Anyone else had this issue?  Or does anyone know how to free up the smaller drive and get it to use the bigger one?  Like I said before, everything is set up in the system options to save to the large drive.  Am I missing something?

I have a HP Pavilion 11-h110nr x2 notebook. Its a notebook with a removable Tablet for the monitor. The notbook-Tablet has a micro SDHC slot on the Monitor and a SDHC slot on the keyboard (I think it's SDHC card slot since a 4 GB microSDHC card, with adaptor, works with both slots.) I have a few questions: What is the largest SDHC, in GBs, the Pavilion can use? Can both SDHC slots be used at once? Can thumb drives be used with the SDHC cards installed also? Thank you for any help. Delta_Delta

Hello, My memory card reader started acting out after 5 years of usage. It detects media all right, I can see the list of files, but when copying them, the LED is going off and on, and file transfer is extremely slow. I'd like to replace the card reader. Does anyone know what internal reader will fit into the desktop case of my hpe-560z? Can it be any 3.5'' media card reader, or there are some specific requirements to pay attention to? Thanks.

Dear All,

A brandnew VERBATIM 8GB Micro SDHC Card is only recognized as 1GB in my T130 / WIN 7 - funny enough: A brandnew SANDISC 8G SDHC Card is recognized as 8GB
Anything I can do here to use the VERBATIM Card ?

Any Feedback is much appreciated

Ciao Gerhard

A:Re: 8GB Verbatim Micro SDHC card recognized as 1GB Micro SDHC Card

Where did you buy that 8GB SD Card? Are you sure it's genuine?

If you got it from eBay or similar, it may be a fake SD Card that is physically 1GB but reformatted and re-badged as 8GB.

Hi,i recently bought a pavilion x2, it works fine, except for one thing: the micro sd card reader. I insert the micro sd, it's ok, it works, i'm able to read and write files. BUT!  After a couple of minutes working on it, it simply stops working: it desappears and if i look for peripherals, i read that it stops working (error 43). WHY? It's not a card fault, because the same card works on other devices and i tried different cards on the pavilion with the same result (exFat, NTFS .... no difference!) Driver is up to date, i already tried to reset the system too. What do i have to do? Greetings, Francesco

A:pavilion x2 micro sd problem

Hi there @Franz19,  Welcome to the HP Support Community! I read your post and wanted to reach out to help you! I understand that you are having an issue with the Micro SD slot on your HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n107nl Notebook PC. You mentioned receiving an error code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.  If that is correct, I found some documentation. There are troubleshooting steps in them that may help. There is a document from HP called Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers.  Card reader drivers can become corrupted or stop functioning correctly, and new drivers and firmware are occasionally released to address issues.  Have you tried to use the HP Support Assistant to ensure that all of your drivers are updated?Have you done your Windows Updates?Have you tried to run the Microsoft Hardware Troubleshooter? If not, please try: Search for TroubleshootingClick on TroubleshootingSelect Hardware and SoundSelect Hardware and DevicesClick NextFollow the instructions.  Did you get the error code from the Device Manager?Have you tried to uninstall the SD card reader from the Device Manager? If not, please try that and then restart your Notebook twice.  Did this reply resolve your issue or answer your question? If yes, then please share the good news! I have this problem too and I'm getting the impression lots of people are, I've TWO machines with this issue.  The SD cards just eject randomly with no pattern.  I've tried multiple brand new and old cards which work flawlessly on other devices.  Latest drivers and BIOS and Windows updates all installed. What will it take to get an official response and FIX from HP on this issue?  I've been a customer for decades and never had a problem like this.

Hi there @ncc1701,  Welcome to the HP Support Community! You had replied on another post that I had already responded to. Did you happen to try the troubleshooting steps I had provided in my previous post?  There is a document from HP called Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers. Card reader drivers can become corrupted or stop functioning correctly, and new drivers and firmware are occasionally released to address issues. I am glad that you have done all of your Windows Updates, Drivers updates and BIOS Update.  Have you tried to use the HP Support Assistant to ensure that all of your drivers are updated?Have you tried to run the Microsoft Hardware Troubleshooter? If not, please try: Search for TroubleshootingClick on TroubleshootingSelect Hardware and SoundSelect Hardware and DevicesClick NextFollow the instructions.  There is a fix posted by another community member named MJKN79. He wrote: "Before we start , remove the SD card and insert it back which should  ideally show up in "This PC" window then proceed with following : 1. Press WinKey + X,  choose Power Options2. Click Choose what the power button does3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable4. Under Shutdown settings,  uncheck  "Turn on fast startup"5. Try a couple of restarts at periodic intervals to see if the SD stays detected." Have you tried this solution? What happen... Read more
