I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My G700 has had this issue recognizing its own OEM battery since I got it, and there is a long drawn out way of trying to resolve this, but the core problem I believe is that when the battery is Fully Drained it can't Self Identify as an OEM battery, so the laptop won't charge it.  Without charge, it will never get out of this state. Problem:  Battery not recognized correctly as OEM, so won't chargeFix:  Charge battery at least a little bit Yes, I know it won't charge, so how do you perform fix? Plug into power and take battery in and out 5-10 times, leave battery in and remove and replug power cord in side of laptop 5-10 times.  Then leave for 15 minutes, then boot normally. Battery will now be recognized!  Why because you managed to get just enough juice in there while trying to identify the battery 10x or so, for the battery to be able to successfully identify itself when you did start it up. This is a HACK fix, but way better than uninstalling, reinstalling power software, BIOS software and device drivers a number of times (which does not work all that well, I have found). Hope this helps you, let me know! OHHH, and keep your battery charged at least a little to prevent this from happening, and turn power off when not using.  I am not sure if this is just some faulty batteries or all batteries, let me know if other batteries behave better than mine. Best,Mark Eckdahl

Hello. Recently, everytime i started my laptop, i've been receving a message stating "The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.Primary (Internal) battery (601)."In fact, i noticed the laptop is descharging way faster than when i bought it three years ago.Searching on the Net, though, i've read about people saying that, in this case, the battery to be replaced is not the internal one but the removable one.I'd like to ask what battery is actually the one to be replaced. Thanks for the attention. Gialdof P.S. sorry for bad English

I own two new Dell Laptops, one a Precision workstation and the other an everyday Latitude, both running Win 7 Pro. Both have new batteries, so that's not an issue. Please do not suggest I check my battery. My system power settings are correct for both AC power and on battery, so that's not a problem either.
I replaced a Dell XP machine and an older Compaq machine running a Win 7 32 bit upgrade from Vista. Both of the older machines, upon reaching the preset low power settings limits, would open a pop up window on my desktop and alert me to either save my work and shut down or plug in the power cord. It would supersede and open on top of any work windows I had open. Both of the two new machines have no such pop open alert window and my computer often hibernates unexpectedly. Not a crisis, but a real pain when in the middle of work. I know that there are taskbar icon notifications and audible alert tones, but neither is useful for me. I must keep my computer muted when working and my taskbar is set to extreme hi-res with small icons, so you can't really notice the taskbar alert when concentrating on your work. Is the desktop pop open alert window gone forever, just turned off somehow, or what? Some one please advise. Thank you.

A:No Desktop Pop Up Alert for Low Battery

PS - I should explain. When I write "concentrating on my work", I mean that I create complex 3D solid models for expensive tooling and manufacturing businesses in a program which often is on top of the taskbar for screen optimization. They require my full attention and, as the result, the taskbar low power notification is pretty much useless for me. The desktop pop up window, which doesn't now open, worked great.

Hi everyone, So, yesterday I started up my computer and the fan was running unusually high and then shut off immediately.  I plugged my charger into my notebook and then started it up only to find the Primary (internal) Battery (601) message popping up.  This laptop is just over a year old so I searched up on HP forums and found the fix where you uninstall the 'ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery', turn off your laptop, unplug the charger and charge it into a wall outlet, and then starting up your computer.  I repeated that process twice and then my battery worked again.  I ran a diagnostic test and it showed that my battery was still at 90% capacity.  All seemed well so I went to sleep, only to find that the same problem occured when I woke up and tried to turn on my computer - wouldn't start, alert message, uninstalled the driver twice and then it finally worked, and my battery is holding its charge now.   Does anyone have any suggestions or input that might be helpful? Thank you.

Hi,

First of all: I know that I have been having a problem with my HP Laptop Battery, and with its cooling Fan.
However, I am now wondering what detected this error below as long as it was shown even before the notification saying 'the press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' Thus, if the BIOS detected that there was a problem with the HP Battery storage', then this error should have been listed after 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' was passed.

'HP Battery Alert:
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.'
That alert lasted about 15 seconds, and then the 'press 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' is shown.

Next: This is error below showed me::
'The system didn't detect that a cooling fan is operating correctly'

I know that BIOS detected that a problem with 'Cooling Fan' since the Alert of error was shown after passing 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.'
Any comments would be highly appreciated

A:'Battery Alert' appears before the 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu'

Anti Virus Product : Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Build 9.0.0.736

OS : Windows XP SP3

D: Partition on 1st disk

Problem : see attached screenshot KIS Alert.jpg

KIS regularly displays this message. If you click "Delete" the AV software appears to delete the file. However, within a short time the message will pop up again.

My investigation into this issue has been inconclusive. If I analyse the message the constituent bits don't make much sense.

1. Why is this file residing in the System Volume Information? This may have something to do with System Restore rebuilding the SVI on drive D: but I am not sure about that.

2. If I do a search on the file A0564958.exe (Note: The number increments by 1 every time I delete the file) Google returns a list of sites in Chinese. I never visit Chinese sites.

3. Win32.s is a subset of Win32.

4. UBar makes an addon for the Apple Mac OS. This is an XP machine. I am not aware of any Apple software being installed.

How these 4 things relate to each other is something which I don't understand.

HELLO TECH PEOPLE: 02-22-13 @ 03:41 pm EST

My email program is Eudora 7.1.0.9. and my computer runs Windows XP Pro. The computer works fine, but every few days I get an email delivered and it causes a Security Alert Message. The message says in so many words:
Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others...etc., etc...and gives me an option asking if I want to proceed. Have tried to delete it and/or approve it, but Eudora stays frozen and I have to then do an Alt/Control/Delete in order to close down the program.

Today I restarted the computer in Safe Mode and was able to delete this Security Alert Message and that took care of the problem.
But, there should be some appropriate way in which I can stop this from happening. I have been running Mozilla/Firefox instead of Internet Explorer 7 but even when I had IE7 installed, still had that problem every now and then.
Help...is there something I can do to avoid this from happening again?
Thanking you guys and/or gals in advance for your requested advice and help!

I have removed your Phone # and Email address so that you will not get spammed,
You should upgrade to IE8 for security reasons.
However, your browser and your Email program, Eudora, do not have anything to do with each other.
Make sure you have a good Anti-Virus program that scans Emails before they are downloaded.
Use Eudoras features like Security, Spam watch, Scam watch. You can also use Contextual Filling, to scan an Email for certain words and send it to the Trash before it gets to the In Box. Eudora Features-Windows

I deleted an earlier identical question that included the actual address numbers. Each letter has a specific number value.

An alert message came up on my imac saying " IP configuration abc.ade.a.aff is in use by 90:21:55:00:db:c0.DHCP server abc.ade.a.a ".

MY ethernet IP address is abc.ade.a.acf I am not sure if my computer IP address is the same as the ethernet address.
Is this alert a security warning? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Recently my windows 10 system has been opening IE pages all stating "This Page cannot be displayed" with the following points "- Make sure the web address http: //0.0.0.55 is correct
- Look for the page with your search engine
- Refresh the page in a few minutes"

Also the "Fix Connections Problems" button is displayed.

The system continually tries to open this page and stacks one page on top the other all showing the same thing. When I close all IE windows I see a System Alert box with the following address included:
"zgvzy3jpchrpb24.website/en-us/windows"

I notice there is another user having a similar issue with this web address in the "something got in" thread.
Any ideas what this is and how to get rid of it?

I have done a system scan with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and nothing has been found. I have also reset IE to the default settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a computer with what I'm describing as a stuck  windows alert message box, it's mostly empty except for a font icon in the middle of the it. The alert box will not exit. I've also included a picture of it.

Things I have done.
Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, AdwCleaner
CCleaner including fix registry.
autoruns, disabled any suspicious apps.
Ran Process explorer and killed any processes that look  suspicious or not needed.
Booted into safemode.
No broken devices in device manager.
MS Updates.
None of these methods have removed the box.

Now I have run Process Monitor during startup and am now reviewing the logs, i'm hoping someone can suggest what to look for in process monitor log files.

Something else, if you do a screen capture the black box isn't in the picture that's why I took a picture of the screen.
Crazy!

Thanks, Rick

Hi,
I am running XP Home SP2 and for the past few days, I have been having a message poping up very regularly on the notification area of the system tray (bottom right) that says :
"System Alert !
System has detected a number of active spyware applications that may impact the performance of your computer"
The message is located on a flashing red shield icon. When I click on the message, Internet Explorer starts up on the Virus Protect Pro web site (www.virusprotectpro.com/?aff=1003) and suggests I acquire and download the product.
The online Symantec vulnerability/virus detection reveals no spyware/adware/virus. Neither does BitDefender Online. Windows Defender, A Squared, Spyware S&D, AdAware SE are equally unsuccessful in detecting anything unusual.
I have run the 5 steps and here are the results.
Thanks for your kind help,
Edward

There is no way to "disable" that messaging in the BIOS. What hardware changes did you make to the OptiPlex 9020 PRIOR to this boot message? Have you powered off, opened the case and reseated every cable?

I have been struggling with a number of malware related problems on my PC as of late, the most recent of which being an error message that reads:

Following this are two lines about running what is likely a fake antivirus scan program, according to what I have read. I have used MBAM and it has alleviated some of my other problems, but this new one popped up immedietely after I eliminated some others. Any help I can get would be wonderful.

This is on a PC running Windows XP if that helps at all.

Additionally, I have long suffered from annoying redirected links from Google and would appreciate any help in this category that I can get. Thanks very much!

Hello,it appears you have this infection. Please follow our Removal Guide here Remove AntiVira Av (Uninstall Guide) .You will move to the Automated Removal InstructionsAfter you completed that, post your scan log here, let me know how things are.The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.

My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop had a very good battery life(>6 hours), but today morning it showed an error message saying  "Battery has experienced permanent failure and needs to be replaced." I updated the BIOS from A3 to A10, but it didn't help! The PC starts only if its plugged in and the battery charge is constant at 82%. What should I do?

A:Battery not charging, message says "Battery has experienced permanent failure"

Hello SHUBHAMSINGH.ARARIA,
It's quite possible your battery did suffer a failure; the Lithium-Ion chemical reaction may (which produces electricity) have finally broken down.
First thing to try is to run Dell's diagnostics. When you first power it on, press F2 to run the ePSA Diagnostics & see if any failures occurred.
Have you tried powering the laptop on with the power cord and battery, then once it's loaded removing the power cord to see if it stays on?
Another thing to try: remove the power cord & battery from the laptop, then hold the power button down for about 10 seconds. Then reconnect the power cord, power it on, then reconnect the battery.
From here, once it's on, you can try removing the battery again to see if it stays powered on or leave the cord connected to see if the battery begins charging.

Hope this helps!
