Can I access advanced BIOS settings?

Q: Can I access advanced BIOS settings?

Hi, I really need to access advanced BIOS settings (if I can?) because of the CPU's fan RPM setting (I had to replace the old fan, he stopped working), could you please help me, how could I get there, by which combination? My BIOS version is 80.52 Rev.A

Preferred Solution: Can I access advanced BIOS settings?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a VN7-572G. The presented BIOS settings are sort of lackluster for a gaming laptop and I know what I'm doing enough to tinker with more advanced settings. I've examined the BIOS for this laptop and there are a ton of locked-away settings. Unfortunately, there is some sort of BIOS security implemented that prevents me from just flashing a modified BIOS onto this laptop. Is there perhaps some sort of way to officially access more advanced settings or any way of requesting one from Acer?

Hey guys, I recently dumped my BIOS with the "Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit" in search for changing a DVMT value and I noticed something very curious. If you use a program called "UEFITool" to open the BIOS you dump on this laptop, and CTRL+F "DVMT" under text, it will bring you to a section named "PlatformHiiAdvancedDxe". Upon extracting the body of the PE32 image, I noticed that there appears to be a hidden tab in the BIOS named "Advanced" with several useful settings. So, I recently upgraded to windows 10, and I was trying to change some settings to do with my mouse, and when I tried to open the additional mouse options: settings>devices>Mouse & Touchpad, but whenever I click "addition mouse options" an error comes up saying "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" however, I have administrator access on my computer, so I was wondering if anybody had a fix for it.

EDIT: This was working before I upgraded to windows 10 (I was on windows 7)

A:Windows 10 not letting me access advanced mouse settings

Hello Churchy832 Welcome to the Ten Forums!

I could suspect this to be a result of the upgrade from 7 ending up being "Buggy" but I will hold off on that for the time being since you may only need to elevate the status of your user account. What has been seen about 66% or more of the time however with 7 to 10 upgrades is problems of various types!

What you could be seeing there however is the lack of a mouse driver or app suitable for 10 being the actual problem leaving the mouse there running with generic drivers included with 10 and not factory drivers preventing you from getting into the settings if that particular mouse came with a software disk?

If you have a programmable model the app would be what to open to change any settings while with a standard optical mouse you would see the left and right click options, click speed, wheel button option often mouse 3, pointer options, etc. Either the mouse isn't being properly detected or the upgrade may have a problem.

One fast option would be running the SFC tool just to see if that needs to replace any system files that didn't go on fully during the upgrade install. In the Device Manage when looking under "Mouse and Other pointing devices" you can right click on the HD compliant item to select the upgrade driver option to see if 10 will replace what it is using at the present time with the correct driver if the mouse requires one.

My W540 has Nvidia KM2100 graphics card. I have a dock, so, to enable Nvidia KM2100 for external monitors connected to the dock, I changed Video Settings in BIOS from "Standard" to "Advanced".  Then, strange thing start to happen. When close the lid, laptop goes to sleep. When I open the lid, laptop wakes up and I can use it for roughly 2 seconds before screen suddenly goes blank and it automatically reboots. There is no BSOD or crash dump. It just reboots. This happens every time I close and open the lid. Basically, I can't use "sleep" feature. This is very annoying. The OS is Windows 10 Creator Update with the latest graphics drivers for both Intel HD4600 and Nividia KM2100. As soon as I revert Video Settings in BIOS from "Advanced" to "Starndard", which sadly disables Nvidia graphics card for external monitors, this strange behavior goes away. Any solutions?  Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is the right place to post such a question, if it isnt, please direct me to the right board. I need to access the Advanced Tab to use IDE Compatibility mode, dual booting Windows XP to use legacy programs that dont work on a virtual machine. (poor 3d support) I know support for it dropped 2 years ago and some drivers might not work, but I need XP regardless. Anyway, after digging around the internet after my laptop kept shutting down during XP setup, I found out that I needed to enable IDE compatibility mode, but when I checked, the option wasnt there. My BIOS is  Insydeh20 Rev 3.7, version F.12. I am aware that accessing the advanced tab is risky, but I know there are safe(r) ways to do it. At this point, anything at all helps. A:Pavilion dv6-7135nr Advanced Bios access and SSD drive

By locked down you seem to think there is another whole layer of options available if you can just get some kind of access. Not so. The BIOS are just simplified for consumer laptops. What do you mean the SSD is not visible? What operating system are you trying to install and how? The storage controller is set to RAID and a Windows 7 disk, for example, will not see a hard drive until you introduce the right F6 driver to enable the storage controller.

I had wanted to change the minimum amount of memory to my intel HD 515 graphics and make some other tweaks for gaming, and I turned off my laptop, pushed the novo button on the side, it booted up and I chose the Bios setup option. I started going through the menus and I HAD an advanced menu which gave me the graphics memory options, it had overclocking options, option to enable NFC, 3D Camera and a bunch of other stuff. I even showed to someone, so I was NOT hallucinating haha. I had decided to reboot and wait so I could google a lot of the options as I didn't understand some of the super-super advanced settings. When I went back to the bios, no advanced menu is present and I can NOT get it back. A lot of stuff says you CAN'T get it, but I DID.  Anyone? Was it some super weird glitch or did I bump the right key combo? I did a google search and have found a few others that have also accidentally done this, including a screenshot of the SAME menu I got from another Lenovo user.

Hello,

I have a computer that is stuck in a loop and won't boot into normal or safe mode. There is a blue screen flashing up, but way too quick for me to be able to see the STOP code.

The problem I have is that the American Megatrends BIOS 2.51, has an option on the boot screen "Press F8 for BBS Popup". Therefore I can't use the F8 key to get into the Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Why the hell has a BIOS manufacturer hijacked an important Windows key?????

I have also tried pressing the F8 key AFTER the BIOS screen, but even by doing that you still get a boot order list by pressing F8, and not the Advanced Options menu.

Does anyone know how to either:
1. Disable the Press F8 for BBS Popup in the BIOS? (I've looked, so has a workmate, but we can't see it)

or

2. Is there an alternative to using the F8 key to access the Advanced Options menu?

Hope someone can help.

Good evening!
A week ago I reinstalled Windows 7 in EFI mode on my laptop, and now I've got this problem: whenever I turn on my computer after a shutdown, the BIOS says "System Resuming" instead of "Press F2 to enter settings". This makes impossible for me to access BIOS settings. Previously, my BIOS used to say "System Resuming" only after a hibernation. The weird fact is that - as far as I remember - this thing started happening only after a few days.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance :-)

Try doing a shutdown command from a CMD window, or Start button / Run

I have tried F2 DEL F8 F12 just about all the F combinations and nothing works, I have two SSD drives one with Win7 Pro and one with Win10 Pro (not connected at the same time) and neither of them will boot up.
I have tried changing the jumper pins from 1 and 2 to 2 and 3 for 10 sec to clear the RTC Ram in CMOS then returned then to 1 and 2 and tried rebooting...no change so i removed the battery and repeated the jumper pin swap then reinstalled the battery and still no change, cannot get passed press DEL or F2 to access the BIOS settings.
I even downloaded the latest BIOS and updater as shown and put them on a USB flash drive together and tried the Macrium Rescue disk, and still nothing happened and it will not open the BIOS maybe i got it all wrong ?
I was hoping someone here might know how to put it right, i am out of idea's and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

This option is not available with some OEM BIOS versions. Most use a slimmed down version with minimal options that can be changed.

Usually (if present) it will be loaded under Advanced, System Configuration, or similar.

I have an HPXW6200 workstationwith an HP 08B8h main board serial number CZC631LDP with XP Professional 32 bit presently installed. I have purchased Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit which I am about to instal. I have installed addditional RAM and a firewire which are each recognised. However, I am unable to access the BIOS, even though I have pressed the F numbers and 'any key'when prompted. The instal stops for a second as if accessing safe mode or BIOS but then resumes installing XP. As I am installing a totally different operating system I am assuming that the BIOS may need altering to accept the instal with DVD and the 32/64 bit uprating.. I have ascertained that there are two HDD one is an IDE which I cannot identify make size speed which 'may' be loaded with the BIOS settings, and the other is a Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200 revs 160GB upon which XP is installed. Can you assist to solve this problem.Thankyou,

A:access Bios settings

Too access the BIOS settings, (CMOS I assume?), you need to press the appropriate button before the disc is loaded.
Just after POST starts(the Memory test and detection of harddrives), it should say something along the lines of 'Press F2 to enter setup' or another key (Delete, F10, F8).
You need to press that button before you see the message 'Press any key to boot' to get into BIOS.

There are limited options only when I go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings\Change advanced power settings in particular Intel (R) Dynamic Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Settings.
For some of the missing options I followed this page and fixed: www.eightforums.com/.../50890-options-missing-power-options-advanced-settings.html
However I could not add Intel (R) Dynamic Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Settings in advanced power settings even though followed these links:

P.S: All drives are updated.

I don't see them on my XPS 13 9360 either.  I just figured that this CPU/chipset might not support those settings anymore.

I have a Compaq 6530b laptop and am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I want to enable bluetooth on the laptop, but the Device Manager says it is disabled in the BIOS and to activate it with F10 on boot.. the problem is it asks for a BIOS password and I keep guessing and cant figure out what it is! Is there a simple way to reset the BIOS password or crack it? I took out the CMOS battery and waited 10 minutes, but that didnt do anything... any advice?? Thanks!

A:Forgot BIOS password - need to access settings F10

Unfortunately, on laptops, unless it's said otherwise in the manual, you can't remove the BIOS password. Did you get that computer second hand or was it brand new? If it was brand new it means you set the password, which you could try to guess some of the passwords you were using at the time you got the laptop.

My computer is so messed up Version 8.1 . I first noticed that I had a problem with Kaspersky. It said my license was unable to verify and to update data base to solve. It wont let me update. In fact it wont even let me uninstall, and secondly I cant download ANYTHING off the internet. My main problem is OFFICE keeps freezing and I need that program it also says there is a problem with my license and I have not been able to fix it it just freezes. So I thought I will download open office, but as I mentioned I cant download anything when I click run nothing happens when I click save it says corrupt or unreadable file. I thought no problem I will just hit F2 (yes I have tried hitting every single key after this and nothing) and enter bios screen and recover from my USB but do you think F2 (or any other key takes takes me there, no. Products like Kaspersky, Office, I have paid for etc say they are unlicensed which they are not. Anything I try to download, anything, like a new virus program will not work. I can't download, I cant even get into Change my PC settings it just freezes when I click this. I have had people try and trouble shoot this, Kaspersky has not gotten back to me and everyone is telling me stuff I cant do. I cant download, I cant access bios, I cant even access Change my PC settings. Ready to hear all the generic "it should" or "you should be able to" I have found a few people on other forums with the problem and I have yet to see a fix.

Guys,

I have been given a Satellite Pro 4600, unfortunately this laptop has 2 and a half operating systems on it. The first one is MS2000, then XP then an unfinished installation of XP. When I start up the laptop it asks which OS I want to use. I have a full legal copy of XP that I have bought and I want to reformat the laptop and put on a clean install of XP, the problem is how do I get into the BIOS to change boot settings to CD?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve

A:How to access BIOS settings on Satellite Pro 4600?

Hi

First of all you don?t need to access the BIOS in order to be able to boot from the CD.
You can simply press the F12 button immediately after the notebook has been powered up.
This would show the available boot options.

You can also press C button which would automatically enable the CD/DVD drive as booting source.
