I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You will most likely end up replacing everything except the case. Any ATX or mini-ATX board should fit. How many PCI slots do you have now? 3? The power supply should be changed while your at it... Just deside what processor and memory you want to use, and select a motherboard that will run it.

I have the drivers for the on board sound installed. What I have is the Micosoft media edition installed to seperate tracks and copy lp, and cassettes to my computer. what the Creative sound card does not have is the "stereo mixer" option. that is what I need to seperate downloaded fulll albums from the net,and seperate the tracks of the albums. and help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. email me with any inoformation you can assist me with

A:Need assistanve on emachine mother board

check the drives

Be sure that the drive at the top fo the IDE cable is set to "master" and the other (on the middle connector) is set to "slave." There are jumpers on the rear of each drive, and there should be letters engraved like: MA (master), SL (slave),CS (cable select), etc. Re-boot, and see if they are recognized properly.

Need more info on your sound card (model, etc.) to be able to help. And full system specs would be nice.

A:MOTHER BOARD REPLACEMENT

A local computer repair shop is the best bet, but for a computer that old, it will probably cost more than it is worth.  Best option is to salvage the data from the hard drive onto a working PC.  Easiest way to do that is to remove the hard drive from the old Pavilion A6400 and connect it to a working PC.  If it is just to retrieve the data, an adapter similar to this will work nicelyhttps://www.amazon.com/AGPtek-Drive-Adapter-Converter-External/dp/B00BIE996S/ref=pd_sim_147_2?_encod...

Last night I tried to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop. I bought the replacement part from an Ebay store, and it is still under warranty (90 days). After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth. The battery light came on, so far so good. Then we hit the power button and...nothing happened. Well almost nothing. The machine appeared to turn on. All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on, but that's it. The fan didn't start, the monitor didn't start. The hard drive light was on but didn't appear to be reading at all. (i.e. no blinking or noise.) I'm quite perplexed. Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip, which we weren't exactly sure whether to put back in over, under, or through the disk drive data cable. We eventually put it through. For instructions and pictures of the process, check out link:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pblan/removing.htm

Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly. We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places. What could be causing this? Have I received a defective part? Are there any other explanations? I suppose a possible explanation is that the processor and/or video board are not quite connected correctly, but they seemed t... I don't think the model will matter, however, mine is a Pavilion Slimline s5510f. With thanks from this forum, I have determined that I need to replace my mother board.  I have found HP support documentation on how to replace the mother board, but that leaves the question as to whether I have to do any type of programming of the new mother board or is the MB more or less a plug and play? Thanks for any help.

A:mother board replacement and programming?

Hi, Actually you can't do anything with motherboard (only updating BIOS which is still in the hands of vendors). What you see is what you get or using your terms: it is a plug-and-play part. Regards.

A:Mother board battery replacement procedure?

CMOS should only reset if there is something wrong, or if a battery is bad.

Replacing it is just as you said - unplug power, take out the old one, put in the new one.

Here is the Manual: Service Manual There are 4 different AMD motherboard depending on if you have the A8 processor or the A6 and Windows Standard or Pro. Get the same Windows version as you have or you will have to buy another copy of Windows. Your hard drive installation of Windows will not activate unless you install a motherboard set up for the same OS version. Post back if you need a more detailed explanation. Yours is a CTO laptop so we cannot just look up your original factory specs. You can interchange the A6 and A8 version of the motherboard with the caveat stated above. The Manual shows the "how-to" on replacement. Assuming you have the A8 and Windows Standard this is the part number: 769075-501 This is it on US amazon.com for $109 which is a pretty fair price: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Convertible-Motherboard-769075-501/dp/B0118AZL1S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... Post back with any more questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

A:Unknowing victim of emachine, board replacement, socket 754/478

Dude, get a grip. I know less about computers now than before I read your post.

I thought that socket 478 was Intel (Pentium Celeron), now I come to find out that it's AMD.

An AMD Sempron 3000 only comes in one speed, if it's another speed, then it has a different number.

All of the s*** you mention is beyond obsolete, so maybe it's time for a whole 'nuther computer. Please, I heartily suggest that you avoid attempting to build a machine, at least in your current state of mind.

I don't think that any of us here are really equipped to deal with the anxiety, angst, or incoherent and rambling thought patterns you have exhibited thus far, let alone what you're trying to pass off as sentence structure.

BTW, my Emachines T-5026 just reached its 5th birthday. If you'd like to check in and wish it many happy returns, (pun not intended), here's the link; http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic143315.html

I would argue that it is not really possible to be an "unknowing victim" of Emachines.

You bought it because it was cheap, cheap s*** breaks. So where's the surprise, the mystery, or the unpredictability?

No contest the second one. The first is an ancient (in computer terms) Pentium 4/DDR/AGP based board, whereas the first is a much more recent AMD AM3/DDR3/PCI-E board that the Compaq bios allowing can up to probably the Phenom II x4 965, which will eat that old P4 for breakfast (would eat for lunch and dinner too).

Hello,
I am wanting to get a new mother board, to use with the AMD XP 1700 or greater processor. I am wanting to sue RDRam. However all I see is DDRAM boards. Is DD and RD Ram the same thing??? If a mother board supports DDRam will it also support RDRam???
Is there any reomendation for a mother board that will use RDRam and the AMD chip???

Thanks,

Bear

A:Mother Board

Currently, there are no motherboards or chipsets that support RDRAM with AMD processors. It could be a possiblity in the future.

RDRAM and DDR RAM are not at all the same thing. They are two different types of memory. None of the memory types are interchangeable. A particular memory slot can only accept one type of memory. Some motherboards support two different types of memory, but they have separate slots for each type, and you can only use memory sticks of one type. You cannot use both types at one time.

It should be an ATX form factor. I have an 8300 and it's a standard ATX mobo. The only thing you need to be careful of is that there isn't anything proprietary like the front panel connections or power supply connections. Sometimes they use things that are not standard.

System specs are Pentium 4, 1gb ram, Asus P4R800-VM motherboard.

Problem is I'm pretty sure the ram is dead or very slowly dying, constant program crashes, different stop errors such as 0x0000000a and 0x0000008e (win32k.sys).

Things I have tried are swapping RAM to different memory slots, cleaning the RAM, changing win32k.sys to win32k.old. Tested RAM with MemTest. The latter threw up about 8 errors in less than 5 minutes. Doing a little bit more searching around I'm wondering if its the motherboard that is failing. I have tested the hard drive, its fine no problems there. I have also done a fresh install of xp with sp2, and still having the same issues.

I have tried to create a disc with the microsoft windows memory diagnostic tool, I can't burn the iso every program throws up errors (burn at once tells me the iso is too small). Have tried extracting the files and burning to a blank cd, set boot option to my cd drive but it just wont work.

Are there any other diagnostic tools etc, that I can use to determine if its the memory slots failing of the RAM. The ram is DDR400 RAM 2 512 sticks, I have other ram but its PC2100 I did try testing with this but the computer wouldn't boot up with the PC2100. I need to upgrade for "speed", "memory", and now that soyo is out of business, I need a reliable supplier who is going to be around for a while for upgrades to the BIOS. What is the latest in motherboards for all the above, with 4 gig of memory? I think I have a "baby at" motherboard. I have antec "file server" which is bigger then a standard computer box. I have 5 fans in it, to keep it cool, one is on the supply, two in front, and two in the rear of the box. I need all the extras like a few extra bus 2.0, and firewire connector 1394. Dual core, I guess, Thanks I've tried everything to make this go faster. The only thing I have in the start up is my AVG free. That's what takes the longest to load at boot up. I don't know if windows 7 (windows 8 due out 2011) will make it faster. Thanks

Hi Buzz,
It sounds like you need to remap your keyboard. Go the following Microsoft webpage:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&displaylang=en

and download the Server 2003 tools software for free (good for XP too). Run the "remapkey.exe" tool to reprogram your keyboard--provided you're running Windows XP, of course.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

The power supply is good, the fan in power supply is working. I also used a power supply tester.

Was your old CPU a Celeron as well? Same speed?

You may want use the Clear CMOS jumper to clear the BIOS settings or you can pull out the CMOS battery for a few minutes.

Try reseating the RAM and video card as well. Or try a known good piece of RAM and a good video card. You can disconnect all the drives and remove any unneccessary PCI cards like a modem.

One problem that has me perplexed . When a customers motherboard goes down , it means reformatting and re-installing XP. Of course all my customer info is gone. If you try to boot up With the new motherboard XP will not load. It launches a critical error and says the boot sector has a virus. I know that XP has this built in to prevent it from being installed on several different computers . This anti-piracy is based upon motherboards bios.

I will not build a computer with pirated software but when the legal owner of the PC and the software needs his computer fixed he should not have to lose all his info. This is when I miss 98 , ME. Under those most computers it was replace motherboard and after several reboots you were all ready to go with all your data intact.

has anybody come up with a work around for this ?

What kind of computer are we talking about? According to MS, if you get an OEM motherboard from the manufacturer, with SLP (System-Locked Preinstall) in the BIOS, that's all you need. They don't mention any re-install. Maybe you can sort it out from This Page Is it possible to do a repair install and save the data?

A:My New Mother Board

You can use your Windows op system to reformat your hard drive, but then you would need to reinstall the operating system and you stated you do not have the disk.

What exactly are you trying to do? Why do you feel you need to reformat the drive?

DX48BT2 is the board i'm looking at getting and wonder if i should go with ddr2 or ddr3 Ram how much of a difference is it and is there other types of ram that would to a good job ..wanting it for ultimate gaming

A:Mother board and Ram

DDR3 comes with high clocks but also with price and high latency. So, high quality DDR2 would(COULD in some occasions) still outdo DDR3. To a point, latencies can determine the performance more than clocks.

I want to unplug everything from the existing mother board, remove it, and slide in a new mother board, reconnect everything, boot from the Win XP CD, do a repair and take off running without having to re-install all the application programs.
Will this work, or do I have do do a completely new install of XP and reinstall all the applications?

Well, all u need is a "p4" mobo, becuase all have the same procesor socket. U need 2 mind out whether u have ddr dual ddr or sdram. The easiest thing is, as u said 2 take the mobo 2 the comp guy, and ask him about momory.
