reunion info distribution

Q: reunion info distribution

Need advice on (inexpensive) software and approaches to use to distribute
pictures and information to classmates regarding our reunion and other info. Might
like something similar to a yearbook format, which could be distributed as email attachment,
or via CDs thru the mail to the classmates, many of whom are computer illiterate.
(we're talking 50th h.s. reunion here).

Considered PowerPoint but I have win7 64-bit and I'm afraid those who have older systems would have troubles. Plus I'd have to get into telling everyone about the PP-viewer available from MS, for those who don't have PowerPoint on their computer.
Thanks, Chuck

Preferred Solution: reunion info distribution

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What does that have to do with them using older systems? PowerPoint can save in previous formats if needed, and the fact you have an x64 OS means nothing to PowerPoint or discs you'd create.

I also believe that PowerPoint has a feature where you can burn a presentation to a disc with the viewer already included. If so, you can then add any other files or documents you needed to, and send off the copies.

I've been playing X3 for months now, with no problems. Egosoft posted numerous patches to fix the many bugs X3 was having. They all seemed to work fine. I recently installed patch 1.4.03 and now when I try to open the game it crashes my pc and reboots it. All other programmes run fine, I've run Norton, Spybot, Bazooka, XoftSpy, NoAdwear and in a last ditch desperate attempt to find the problem even Windown Live Saftey Centre. They all came back negative and clean. I've now uninstalled the game and reinstalled it without any patches, still no good. Tried reinstalling the patches, still no good.

Now I know that this topic has been posted recently as well, but I haven't been able to clear it myself, unfortunately. When I launch Win7 Chrome boots with a website (sd-steam.info ) that directs me to zodiac-game.info. I've looked through my reg files and found on Run > there is a file under my user name stating ''explorer.exe st-steam.info''. Deleting this helps, but temporarily as it always comes back shortly after
( it seems to come back when a black /cmd/ screen pops up for a slight second ). Restoring my pc to a point prior to the downloads didn't seem to help either. I've a few pirated games on this pc, but nothing too recent. I hope it won't cause an issue that the reg file under Run has been deleted ( in hopes of repair ).

On Windows 10 startup, Firefox (my default browser) opens and loads up this ad site. I've run malwarebytes to no avail but I did find the registry location of part of the problem (attached image). Deleting the registry fixes it only temporarily until it is added again. I'm not sure what program is creating it or how to fully stop it. Any help would be appreciated! Also, yes I do have some pirated games but these are purely for demo reasons as I always purchase after trying them, although I did not download any around the time this started happening.

Greetings friends! Can someone please help us remove this "SD-Steam.Info" problem that's on our computer? This is what happens.
-> Upon turning on the computer, a browser will open up leading to "SD-Steam.Info" or sometimes "Zodiac-game.info" site.
So far the temporary solution that we were able to come up with was block SD-Steam.Info and Zodiac-game.info via the host files. Because of this, even if something tries to open the browser (we use Chrome), it would only display a blank page and go nowhere.
Unfortunately, whenever we use Malwarebytes to remove it, the redirecting problem comes back and gets detected after restarting the pc. In other words, it somehow still manages to resurrect itself or re-create itself.
We also tried deleting the entry of SD-Steam.Info from the registry via regedit, but just like before, it keeps coming back everytime the computer's restarted.
Someone suggested "Farbar" and from what we've seen, that one seemed to work with others who have this similar problem. Unfortunately, since Farbar is new to us, we don't know how to properly use it and we don't want to mess with it. Can you please help us use Farbar in order to eliminate this redirecting problem?
When we looked at the FRST.txt file, we noticed this -> HKU\S-1-5-21-1284101226-3653657755-2602753855-1001\...\Run: [GrandmaPC] => explorer.exe hxxp://sd-steam.info <===== ATTENTION   while in the Addition.txt file, we foun... Read more

This has happened a few times over the last several weeks. But it only happened after I had clicked on a picture from a google images search result though.
The first view times I was redirected to filestore72.info (the word 'download' was in the link but I do not remember it). And last night it happened again. I was redirected to ad.leadbolt.net and url123.info popped up as well. Again, this only happened after I clicked on a picture from a google images search result and it hasn't happened since.
I don't think it downloaded anything but I'm scared that it might have. What should I do?

Yesterday I bought a new mother board for my PC my Processor model is AMD Athlon II X3 440 Triple Core Processor, but after changing Mother Board in system information it's showing my Processor as AMD Phenom II 4 B40 four core processor. I don't know why it is showing like this. Is this dangerous for my hardware? I used AM2N68-AM PLUS before and now I changed M5A78L-M LX. Except this every thing else is perfect.

A:Processor info is showing wrongly in system info after changing MB

It's not dangerous, but I believe you can get it to display correctly. All you have to do is open Device Manager, right-click each entry for the CPU and choose Uninstall. When you're finished, reboot and then open Device Manager up when it's done rebooting and check the CPU again. It should be showing up correctly after that, but if not then we'll go from there.

So I am having this problem too since few days. After starting my PC, firefox opens with sd-steam.info and redirects to zodiac-game.info after few seconds. I do have few pirated games but nothing changed and I do not installed anything recently.
My observation:
There is a regedit entry called sd-steam.info, if I delete it and restart my PC, the pop up is gone but randomly the entry keeps comming back at a point. There is also  a taskeng.exe (or something like that) pop up for a sec it is just black and says nothing but it is gone really fast. I think after that the regedit entry is also back.
I tryed multiple malware removing tools already but there are no hits.
I know that the internet is full of this right now but I can not find a working solution. So my questions are:
What is this? Is this damaging my files and causing more problems or just an advertisement?
How can I fix it and remove it completely?
Sorry for not the best english. Please help!

I have inherited a list of 57 email addresses that I will use frequently over the next months. Is there a way to create a distribution list in Outlook without having to enter each address as a new contact? Can I cut and past the whole list into a distribution list? Currently, I have savied as a word document and just cut and past into bcc field when I have to send, but I'd love to have this in an Outlook list if possible.

Does anyone know the maximum number of email addresses that one can include on a single message in Outlook? I have another list that has 194 names on it. What's the best way to send as a mass email? This is a neighborhood security patrol alert announcement email, not advertising.

A:Distribution list

Hi needhelp1950

Your ISP determines how many e-mail addresses you can send at one time. You might try a maximum of 25 addresses to see if that message is allowed through or not.
Otherwise, call your ISP to see what their limitations are.

Copy the e-mail addresses to a spreadsheet and Import them into Outlook.
First, Export your existing Contacts from Outlook as a .csv file to see the template that Outlook uses. Then copy the names into the .csv file and Import it back into Outlook.
Which version of Outlook are you using?

This is my first post on this site so I hope this is the correct forum for this topic. I'm finally upgrading to a new PC which of course will have Windows 8. I'm coming off of an XP machine and will need to transfer my files and folders. Simple enough, however I've read both here and MS site about the libraries and file system that W8 uses and how they're different than older versions so I'm now a bit confused as to the proper way to distribute my files when I put them on the new machine. For example, in XP I simply had a single folder for each piece of machinery (CNC machine that is) which contained all the documents (.pdf, xls, etc.), pictures, and videos directly pertaining to that individual machine. If I understand the W8 library system correctly, for best results I should now start an individual folder for each machine in each of the Windows libraries. That is, a folder in Documents for machine X, a folder in Pictures for machine X, a folder in Videos for machine X, etc. and then continue the same way for machine Y and so on. Am I correct? I have no problem doing this I'm just looking for best procedures to follow whenever possible and use the OS as designed.
Sorry for the rookie question, but most of my experience using computers, besides the typical "home" use has been with PPCL programming and process control. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Help with file distribution

You can set it up any way you want. There is no requirement to make the changes you mention. If you're comfortable with the structure you have now, stay with it. No need to even use Libraries unless you want to.

My recommendation would be to stay as you are initially, then as you get used to Windows 8, and it will take considerable getting used to, especially coming from XP, start making changes that add to the usability. Just my $.02 worth.

Can someone tell me of a way a person can distribute a file to other people other than e-mail and are not connected to a network. I appreciate any help.

A:File distribution

You could try a free filesharing programme

Or a paid for web hosting service - there's lots out there, some with trial periods

Instant messaging - they allow you to send a file

Via a website if you have one

If they are photos - there's free pic hosting sites

Or you could mail them a floppy

I work at a small private school that occassionally sends school information home to parents. The school has tasked me with researching a way that we, the school, can send emails containing the school information to parents.

Our list of parents who want to receive these emails is about 300 - 350 parent email addresses. Our desire is to develop emails containing important school related info. and email everybody on the list as a BCC. Our desire is to transmit these emails but not allow anybody to "Reply" to the emails.

Does anybody know of an easy way we can email messages in mass?

We are hoping for a simple and economical way to simply send one-way emails to parents.

We do not want to use the current email engine that presently exists within our school system. (The reasons we don't want to use our current email system is a whole other story and is not for this forum.)

I am new to forums and hope I haven't over stated my self. I will appreciate any feedback from anybody.

I upgraded my PC from an old Pentium Celeron to an AMD Athlon 64 3200.
When I checked System Info, the processor was correct but it showed 512 mhz at first then went up to 1.00 ghz. The system should read 2.00 ghz as it has in the past.
Does this reflect the actual speed? Why would it be less if this is accurate?
I have SP2 sucessfully installed, shouldn't that take full advantage of my processor?

Hi they

Welcome to TSG!

That is bogus. You need to disable Messenger Service:

Click Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Administrative Tools->Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar

Bear in mind that the fact that these messenger popups are getting through indicates that you have a poorly configured firewall. The Messenger service uses UDP ports 135, 137, and 138; TCP ports 135, 139, and 445. These ports are open and vulnerable to hackers and trojans and disabling Messenger Service is only treating the symptoms and not the disease as it were.

I might also add that if you need to upgrade to IE 6 SP1. It is much more secure that IE 5.5.

Hello, I hope all is well with everyone. I have been meaning to join a good computer forum group as I am interested in education and knowledge in respect to computers.
I am having an issue in my new household that I am not very comfortable with, I rented a nice room in a house with 4 other people, separate tenants. There are two individuals though I do not want to judge or anything but come across in every way, sketchy to say the least. I get along with them both so to speak, the one guy I talk with everyday, have coffee with, socialize etc. the other, not so much yet and I have the intuition to say he could be a little schemer if you will.
Putting that aside, history lesson over lol, as I do not want that to cloud/effect the judgement of advice or help.
Me along with 3 of the other tenants are connected wireless to the internet, these two individuals mentioned above have felt the need to feed Ethernet cables directly from the router through the ventilation system to there rooms. I found this to be a little suspicious, really no need for it, the one guy I talk with everyday and socialize with is a big gamer so I kind of understand his want to be connected to the land line. Anyhow, never the less this leads me to today's issue, I had to bring my computer downstairs to install a nice camera for my cpu, I had to connect both my cpu and the camera directly to the router via Ethernet cables. The tenant I don't know so well, came downstairs while I ... Read more

Do you have file sharing turned on?  If so, any folders you've marked as shared could be seen by others.  If you haven't done either of these, I'd say don't worry about it.

Hi folks, I have a few questions about C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution.old. The folder is 456MB.What is this, and can it be deleted? I think it has something to do with Microsoft updates. I should clarify something: I have TWO Software Distribution folders. A few months ago, after the folks at the HiJackThis forum helped me clear up a malware infection, I started having some problems with some Windows functions. A Microsoft techie solved the problem, but in order to do so he had to create two "Software Distribution" folders. He named the one that already existed "Software Distribution.old" (this is the 456 MB folder), and created a new one: "C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution".After he created the ".old" folder, the problems I was having cleared up... so his solution seemed to work. So can I now delete the ".old" folder? Thanks a million, D.

A:Software Distribution Folder

Most likely you can delete it without any issues. But I'd recommend moving it to another location for a week or two to see if you need it. Then, if you still don't need it, delete to the Recycle Bin - where it'll remain until it's forced out (thereby providing a measure of extra protection).

I know how to create a distribution list. I want to know how I can keep each individual private from each other on that distribution list.

It wouldn't look to professional to have a bunch of individuals see they are part of a marketing mailing.

Any suggestions??

Essentially, I have a "book" that I want to sell digital copies of. I do not want people to be able to just copy the file and share it with their friends. I have thought about pdf security (which I hear is a joke) and simple password access, but I realize that people then would simply just post their password and the file itself. No matter what, there is no way to completely secure a file. I know that with proper determination, a "hacker" could bypass the security. I am looking for a solution that will simply deter all but the most determined of thieves. The only thing I can think would be viable, if difficult, is to create a program that can view an online file. the program would require a user account and the user account would be issued registration codes for the books they purchase. This would enable them to only view, not download, the material they have paid for access to. Can anyone else think of a solution? it must follow these guidelines:

-must not download the files (to prevent copies being made)
-must allow only users who have purchased a title to view only the titles they have paid for
-must allow users to have multiple titles to pay for

Essentially, I just want to minimize copying so I can retain sales. what should/could I do to enforce this?

I do not posess any scripting/programming knowledge, but I realize that ready-made applications are a mere fantasy. Im not afraid to "get my hands dirty" to accomplish this, but I want to min... Read more

Is it possible to create a distribution list in firefox. I have Outlook on my desktop computer with distribution lists. I have tried to send the lists to an individual that has a laptop and thought that I could copy it in the contact lists. I don't seem to be able to do that.

Therefore, I tried to create a distribution list on the laptop and am having a hard time doing it. Can someone outline the steps to create a group or distribution list in foxfire. Maybe it is not possible?

Thank you,

I just got hired by a company and it is an accounting firm. They currently do not have any way of pushing updates out to there users. They make instruction for them and tell them were the exe is located. We all know how that works, people don't do the updates and then are behind 5 or 6 versions. They use WSUS for windows update. I am not familiar with any software distribution packages that are out there. Can someone help me out.

Microsoft admitted it had no choice but to suspend its mass distribution via its Windows Update site for XP SP3 and Vista SP1 while it attempts to fix the glitch in its specialist point-of-sale (POS) app – Dynamics RMS – which is used to manage about 38,000 different small to medium-sized retail businesses worldwide.

Original Statement: Release to Web (RTW) Delayed - TechNet Forums

Must be a huge bug forcing Microsoft to halt distribution of both Service Packs...

A:Vista-SP1 distribution Halted

Yep, i've readen it this morning but in the french press it is said that for Vista (SP1) the autoupdate is not suspended on the windows update web site though they suspended automatic updates, on the web site they just warn the RMS users.
For XP, the bug seems quite "important" said the Microsoft representative.

I have a business. I need some software to make my business simpler. But I don't know of such software. This is what my business does:

1. receive files from several customers at my central server
2. distribute those files from server to employees daily (with administrator control over who gets what)
3. employees return processed files to server
4. server sends processed files to the respective customers

how can I automate this process? What software is out there for this problem?

I just setup an Active Directory, and I was wandering if I could let my server host all the network applications (such as MSN), and the PC's just use a "\\SERVER-1\%application_name%" link to run it. Is this possible? The server is a Windows Server 2008 and the Client PC's are running different OS's ranging from XP to 7. Would I need to install a Windows Role and/or Feature to make this work?

In outlook 2000

I imported a *.pst file with 4 distribution lists and 50 contacts

When I go to use that distribution list it says there are no recipients in that list to use. However when I open up the contacts folder I can see them.

No I know if you hit "update now" it repairs to the connection or something?!??!

Doing that works, however is this step neccessary. What does update now do?

Hi, how can i convert an Access Form into a webpage where i need users input using the webpage in our company intranet.

A:Outlook Distribution List

The title of your post is Outlook Distribution List.

I'm not sure what it has to do with Access.

Depending on the version of Access, you should have "Pages" available. Check out the help file on Data Access Pages.

Hi, Does anyone know of a way to create a distribution list based on criteria? For example, say I wanted to create a distribution list with the members only living in a certain city (ie. Do a search for New York, and add all those people to a list instantly)?

Is there an easy way, perhaps a 3rd party plugin, where I can create this list without going through the contact list and picking those that need to be in there?

Also, why doesn't the list update its members if that individual members contact info has been changed elsewhere?

I'm looking for some info if this is even possible with outlook.

We have a public e-mail for support that 10 users have access for a ticket system.
Users send in e-mails to get support.
i'm trying to find a way for outlook to automaticaly distribute e-mails to each agent.
- Agent 1
- Agent 2
- Agent 3
- Agent 4
- Agent 5
When the e-mail would get in the box it would go to agent 1, then the next e-mail would go to agent 2, etc.
Is there add on or a way to create rules for outlook to do this automatically?
