New custom computer turns off immediately

Q: New custom computer turns off immediately

I just made a custom computer by ordering all the parts off of Newegg, and as soon as I turn it on, a light left from the power button flashes green, and another light right of the power button flashes orange, and then it just turns off completely. This is my first time ever building a computer, so I have no idea what's wrong here.

Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Computer Turns Off Immediately After Turning On

First thing I would check is clogged fans or Ram covered in dirt causing overheat and shut down.
Next, Power supply. Pretty cheap. See if you can switch it with another.

My computer keeps turning back on immediately after shutting down.  I have tried many fixes but none of them are working.
I went to the command prompt window and typed in "powercfg -lastwake", it didn't find anything.  I also typed in "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed".  It only displayed NONE.  I checked if there were any wake timers active, but there aren't any.  I've made it so that my mouse, keyboard and network adapter can't wake the computer.  I also had a look through the BIOS, and it doesn't look like wake on lan is active.
I have no idea what to do.  Please help!
My specs are:
motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
Processor: amd fx-8350
Ram: 16gb
OS: windows 8.1 64 bit
If any additional specs are required, let me know. Thank you in advance.

I've had my notebook since September 2014. On 15 or so occasions since then, I've touched the notebook and have received a static shock either from the edge of the casing, the mousepad, or the keys. When this happens, my notebook turns off completely and immediately; there's no graceful power down, there's no message saying why it's turning off, the screen just turns black and the PC just shuts down completely. Any unsaved work is lost when this happens. It's not a pleasant experience, to say the least, not only because of the shock itself, but also because I'm never sure when my notepad is just going to turn off whenever I touch it. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

This morning I came to my computer and it had a BSOD from my wireless adapter driver. This has happened a few times before. But when I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, it wont start! As soon as I press the power button, the lights flash and the fans get one jolt of power causing them to spin and die out immediately and then everything stops in under a seccond. What could be causing this? I did add a new new hard drive to my computer yesterday, but it has restarted fine a few times since then, and unplugging it didn't fix the problem. Other than that, I can't think of anything that is different that would be causing this. Any ideas?

Hi, There seems to be a problem with the power management on my T570. I have two batteries, and I think the main one to be used is the battery 2. Sometimes, I'll be working unplugged, and my computer randomly turns off. Not the usual "Windows turning off" sequence, but an immediate blackout with no feedback. When I turn the computer back on, I see that Battery 2 is at 0% and Battery 1 is now in use. It does seem to be a problem in the power management, no? Thank you,Fred

A:My computer turns off immediately when Battery 2 reaches 0%, even if Battery 1 is 100%

Sounds like power management or battery reporting status wrong.  Are you still under warranty? If yes, call support first.  Can you get (borrow) another battery to try?

I have an HP pavilion dv7 and when I press the power button it will turn on and I can hear the fan for about a second and then it will shut off. Sometimes it will stay on for 2 seconds, etc... then shutoff. I don't get any beeps or flashing lights. It just shuts immediately off when I press the power button. What could this be?

Kind regards,

Also i noticed that when I plug the AC Adapter in it will turn on then off immediately but if I take the battery out and leave the ac adapter in then the laptop won't even turn on at all. The AC Cord is working though because I plugged it into another laptop and it started charging it.

Hello, I have an HP DV2715nr and when I turn it on, it turns right of, some times it stays on for 1 second or 3 or even 5, but it never goes to bios unless it turns on right so there's nothing i can do software wise until it works. The fan always turns on and the lights, and the light to the hard drive. It does the same thing without the hard drive and it never goes into bios. It will eventually turn on right and when it does, it runs fine and never turns off unexpectedly. The only error I get is when I run the resource and performance monitor: The devise, adfs, is reporting "tv_ConfigMgrErr24". This device will not be available until the issue is resolved. The Plug and Play Id for the devise is ROOT\LEGACY_ADFS\0000.

The last thing i remember doing when it was working correctly was deleting my XP partition from my Win7/XP dual boot.

A:Laptop turns off immediately

Install a new drive using your HP System restore disk set.
You may be able to rescue some of the date by placing the drive in an external USB enclosure then dragging and dropping the critical data that was not in the partition you damaged.
If you don't need the data on the defective drive, and do not have a restore disk set, you can buy the restore disks from HP for $27 - $35, depending on number of disks, including FedEx shipping... or using a Windows XP Professional disk in R for Repair mode...
You might also be able to run Windows 7 disk in repair mode, although I have not tried that.

After getting a couple blue screens I am having the following issue:

When I turn my computer on, the fans and drives all start up. After approx. 2 seconds the computer shuts itself off. After another 2 seconds the computer turns itself back on again. This time it stays on but i have no monitor output. I don't hear a beep which tells me it is probably not posting.

I have read a few other threads that have a similar issue but not the same. I am thinking it is either the mobo, GPU, or PSU.

I would like any guidance and assistance that you guys can give me on this specifically what i should look at first and how to diagnose. Thanks. system specs below:

ASUS P5Q Pro ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

I have helped somebody who had a similar issue and it was the motherboard being shorted out by the case. We took the motherboard out of the case and it booted up just fine. Something you might want to try before purchasing new components.

So, I installed Vista yesterday and it was working like a charm and last night I turned the computer off.

I woke up this morning, pressed the power button, lights/fans/computer came on for a few seconds (3 seconds approximately) and then the computer just shut off instantly, then another 3 secondsish later it turned back on and did the same thing, and it keeps doing it.
The only way I could fix it was by unplugging the power cable and turning off the switch at the power socket, I thought it may was a one-off thing.

I left the computer on, got back about 6 hours later and the computer was off (nobody turned it off, no power blackouts etc), I turned it on and it did the same thing. So I had to turn it off at the power etc and it boots up fine and it works.

This wasn't happening until I installed Vista.

Thanks in advance.

A:Computer turns on for a few seconds then turns off [loop]

I just realised, I haven't been shutting the computer down, just been clicking the power button in the Start Menu (which I have just realised isn't shut down - hovered over it: Keeps your session in memory and puts the computer in a low-power state so that you can quickly resume working). I'm fair sure this is "Sleep" (Vista noob).
I just went into Power Options and saw that Sleep was set to 1 hour, so I'm assuming:

* Last night I put my computer into sleep
* Today it went into sleep by itself (after 1 hour)

Therefore it's a problem with the sleep mode?

A:Computer power issues ! turns on then off turns on then off ...

Dear Customer, Welcome to the HP Consumer Support forum. In order to isolate the issue, please try and perform few basic steps as follows: 1. Open the hood and ensure the 4 or 6-wire power supply cable is seated into the connector on the system board2. Check if a device is causing the problem by removing ALL attached devices (such as hard, diskette, or optical drives, and expansion cards).3. Power on the system.4. If the system enters the POST, then power off and replace one device at a time and repeat this procedure until failure occurs.5. Replace the device that is causing the failure.6. Continue adding devices one at a time to ensure all devices are functioning properly.7. Locate the header and jumper labeled CLR_CMOS8. Remove the jumper from pins 2 and 3.9. Place the jumper on pins 1 or 2.10. Put the jumper back on pins 2 or 311. Replace the access panel12. Reconnect all the disconnected devices one by one and then power on the unit and check if the issue persists. In case issue persists please get back to us and we would be glad to assist you. Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again. **Click the KUDOS star on left to say Thanks** Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GR1Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP

Try resetting the bios on the motherboard.

You can do this by opening up the computer and remove the battery and then reinstall. There are also a jump to do the samething, but you have to look at your motherboards manual /user guide to see where it's located.

The Issue:

As I've mentioned, the computer either goes into two states: it either starts up fine, until about error code 79 - CSM Initialization then pops back down to 00 and shuts off. It then proceeds to turn on again for a split second before turning all the way off and never back on again. The second state is that it turns off again at error code 79 and turns back on, but it will infinitely repeat this process. Both states do not display anything on screen and do not boot into the BIOS screen.

- All components are firmly seated in their respective slots.
- The PSU is a newly acquired one, straight out of the box.
- I've disconnected each component and tested it without them and have still received the same problem.

Hello Will try to give some guidance on your issue. This symptom can be caused by the following components: 1. Power Supply2. Motherboard/Processor3.RAM Start with RAM. Pull the RAM modules (if more than one RAM module), then reboot your PC and try one module at a time in each slot. Replace the external power supply. No fix to problem probably means the motherboard is in trouble.  It would not hurt to replace the motherboard (usually a CR2032) battery in the troubleshooting process. Grzy

My HP computer shuts off the minute you turn it on. I have reseated the memory, thinking they were loose, changed the supply cord several times and put in a new battery-still shuts off right as soon as you turn it on.
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

A:computer shuts off immediately

In all probability the shut down is related to a failed internal component. Most times it is the fan, if it is jammed full of lint it probably is the issue, or it might have just failed completely. Using canned air or the like blow in from the side, if you see lots of lint fly out the bottom or stuff flopping about in there you will need to take it apart and clean it out. Failing that replace it. If that still does not fix the issue then there is a bigger problem, like a failed CPU or Main board

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this website. Anyways, my Dell Optiplex 3020 running Windows 7 Professional has a serious problem that I'd like some advice and help fixing.
I've over the course of a few weeks have had adware and other viruses popping up and disrupting my computer. I usually just go to the 'Control Panel' and go to 'Uninstall' and uninstall some sketchy software that popped up.  I imagine the problem of adware and other viruses came when I installed a poorly made video editing software. I do not remember the details of the names of the website or software. I finally decided to do something more permanent about this problem and I installed Malwarebytes to fix the problem. Malwarebytes found many viruses and removed them. After removing them, they prompted me to restart my computer to finish the cleaning process, but I did not do so as I was busy doing something else. Now fast forward to today, I ran Malwarebytes again and was prompted with a message to restart, and this time I did restart. However, upon logging back in, I was soon prompted with the message "Dell management agent service terminated unexpectedly" and seconds later my computer restarted. This keeps happening every time I log back in and there is nothing I can find on the internet to help me. Even if I don't log back in it restarts after 30 or so seconds.
After logging in, I have some seconds to try to do something quickly before it restarts again. I've trie... Read more

I am running on WIndows XP, and after I log in to my computer, and then the start menu and all my desktop icons and background come up as normal, and then my computer slows to a crawl and is unable to do pretty much anything. I have tried waiting several minutes to see if it would eventually load but for the most part nothing happens. I am able to click on things, but it takes forever for them to load, and usually they do not load correctly anyway. What is very concerning to me is that somehow my Symantec Anti-virus software posts a message a few minutes after I log in that "Auto-protect has been disabled" even though at no point have I ever disabled that. I have tried clicking on that to see if I can re-enable it, but nothing seems to happen. At this point, I pretty much am clueless.

So i reccently i tried to delete ONE SINGLE thing on my desktop, but there was a bunch of checkmarks on the desktop icons and folders. so when i dragged the single file i tried to delete and put it in the recycle bin, it dragged everything in there. so immediately i thought and assumed: "go into recycle bin and take the files recently deleted out and put them back, but as soon as i opened the recycle bin all the folders and desktop icons were gone. I looked on google and tried to look for restore options, but they kept bringing me to system restore. so when i attempted to do a system restore it didnt have any dates saved, so i again attempted to make my own date and time to restore to. my luck is that since i just bought this laptop there weren't any saved dates and i tried to make my own but it only created one for today, the day im having an issue. can anyone give me some advice because i just lost some files that are heavily affecting my other files and software that im using on this laptop. thank you.
